Guest Reviews
- jic (10/5): - Jan, was very nice, accommodating, we enjoyed the breakfast. It was a wonderful experience listening to the birds singing in the morning, and the pony was very friendly. Highly recommend
- Nelson Carreno (10/5): - Very Clean and well equipped house. Nice host. The house was for my wife and me, so we had all necessary staff for a good acommodation.
- Thomas H. aus R. (10/5): -
- Jaraminas (10/5): More than exceeded my expectations - It was located close to venue we were to attend.
The property was in a secluded peaceful spot.
And Jan was welcoming.
- Debbie (9/5): A peaceful retreat. - Jan was a very good communicater, thoughtful and kind.
She has a pony called Bluey and now I want a pony! He is adorable.
We were made very welcome. N/A
- John Paul (10/5): - Relaxed rural setting.
- xiaoyan (10/5): - 度假休息都很好!
- Bakss (10/5): -
- Maureen (10/5): - Jan is a wonderful hostess who went overboard to make our stay exceptional! Hmmm, can't think of anything!
- Sharon (10/5): - Jan was hands-down the most wonderful host — and a very special shoutout to Bluey the pony, who absolutely stole our hearts 🐴💙
The house is perfectly located: close enough that all the major attractions are an easy 20-minute drive, yet tucked away enough that you can truly switch off, relax, and escape the hustle and bustle.
Jan went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable and completely stress-free. Every little detail was covered, and we genuinely felt so well looked after.
We’ll absolutely be booking again. Thank you so much for such a beautiful stay 🙏🏻✨ Everything was perfect. We can’t suggest anything to improve ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
- Mark (10/5): Peaceful close to town, lovely host and close to multiple national parks. Even a friendly pony on site - Beautiful Darnley close to town but with nature ( kangaroos) coming right up to the doorstep N/a
- Eric (10/5): Get away from it all, but still 10mins to theme parks, 30mins to Gold coast - Beautiful location. Lovely host
- Darren (10/5): Perfect - Jan was very friendly and hospitable
- Larissa (10/5): Amazing host and lovely accommodation! - Jan was an amazing host, she texted us ahead of check-in and was very communicative throughout our stay. The property was absolutely beautiful and Jan had thought ahead to buy us some things suiting our dietary requirements which was lovely! The bathroom here was very large with 2 showerheads - while we didn't have kids travelling with us I thought this would be a great place with plenty of space to wash little ones in the shower, and also tons of space in the yard to run around and explore. Since there is only 1 set of guests at a time, you do really get the space to yourself and are able to enjoy the peace. The property was quiet and out of the way but still very close to many places to explore including the theme parks, Tambourine Mountain, and many nearby op-shops. It was a great break from the hustle and bustle of Surfers Paradise. Also, Bluey (the miniature pony) was an absolute highlight of our stay and it was so nice to be greeted by him every time we came back to our accommodation. It was such a good stay that we only wished there were more rooms/beds so we could bring our friends if we travel back to the Gold Coast :)
- Carine (10/5): - Tout simplement magnifique et authentique . Petit déjeuner sur la terrasse de cette maison traditionnelle entourée de cacatoes dans les arbres et les kangourous qui se promènent au fond du jardin !
- E-Tam (9/5): A good, enjoyable and quiet place to stay. - Jan was very friendly, helpful and she provided a lot of food for us to cook the breakfast. That's really very good ^^
It also includes Bluey, he's good and calm, good for kids ^^ n/a
- S NORMAN (9/5): A pleasant home in the country. - So quiet considering its part of the Goldcoast.Authentic old homestead with scenery, spacious rooms.
- KIRA0Z (9/5): - A home away from home, Jan is lovely and welcoming and it was fun meeting Bluey the pony. The breezes sitting out on the deck were divine and country views are soul restoring. If you are planning to visit, Mt Tamborine, Movie World or Dreamworld it is a short 20 min drive. Jan had all the basic necessities and communications were excellent. The house an old queenslander was comfortable, clean and air-conditioned. We love the art. Nothing
- Jayne (10/5): Relaxed private and dog friendly - Stunning Queenslander Nothing
- Bakss (10/5): - The veranda was beautiful farm view.
- DcAngel71 (9/5): -

- Jill (10/5): A real slice of paradise - so peaceful and relaxing.would definitely stay here again - A real piece of paradise. Lovely and peaceful with plenty of bird life and wallabies. Lovely host who cooked us delicious bacon and eggs etc for breakfast. Comfortable beds and lounging furniture. Spacious decks to sit and relax. Nothing
- Wendy (9/5): Delightful relaxing place, quite magical - This is a delightful cottage. It is spacious, very clean, a very well stocked fridge for breakfast and snacks and a big kitchen. The deck was amazing with beautiful views across the hills and Bluey the pony in the field who you could feed carrots. There were lots of carrots left by Jan in the fridge for his treat. A perfect place to relax but quite near the Gold Coast if you want more adventure. It is perfect

- Richard (7/5): Good - Nice location. Quiet. Balcony with views. Large room. Huge bathroom.
Host v nice & v helpful.
- Pamela (8/5): Lovely, quiet location within a 15 minute easy drive to Movieworld - Serenity. Beautiful house in quiet, country location. Not far from the “worlds”. Room was very spacious, air-conditioned and beds were very comfortable. A little cold in the bathroom but that was only a problem because it was winter .
- Bakss (10/5): Exceptional - Garden, pony, service
- Holland (10/5): Dream Holiday Accommodation! - The homestead was straight out of a fairytale! It was the most gorgeous place and the pony made the stay that extra bit special!

- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Louise (9/5): Great location, friendly host and homely atmosphere. - Location was well enough away from the hustle and bustle but close enough for us to visit the theme parks. Jan is a friendly host and her place was very homely. She provided a great variety of choices for breakfast.
- Trish (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helen (9/5): Owner very welcoming and helpful Overall a very pleasant stay - Homely atmosphere
- Paul (8/5): Beautiful property and lovely host - Lovely location - very peaceful and relaxing. It was relatively close to the Gold Coast however at the same time we felt we were miles away. Our rooms were spacious and beautifully decorated. The bed was extremely comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with tea, coffee, biscuits, bread and breakfast foods etc. Jan was a very welcoming host however we still felt that we had privacy.
- Kent (10/5): just lovely. the host was perfect. - Everything was just lovely. a pleasant surprise. it made our much needed restful stay all that much better. small point. the besdise tables were a little small as I use an apnoea machine, however it still was enough room for my thisng.
- Jade (9/5): Lovely country feel BnB, friendly host, clean and spacious, and good value for money! - Large & comfy bedroom and double shower bathroom. Private verandah with nice view of the garden. Although we didn't have to use it, there was a large full kitchen. Air con & smart TV worked well. Can't think of anything.
- Zoe (10/5): Gold Coast getaway - Jan was the most welcoming host couldn't ask for better the house and surrounding is beautiful There was nothing we didn't like
- Sarah (10/5): Home away from home - We loved everything about our stay. Jan was a lovely host and the kids described her as 'our nanna for the night'. They loved playing hide and seek in the trees and feeding Bluey carrots and apple cores.
Beds were comfy, everything was clean, location was perfect, coffee was delicious.
- Jacqui (9/5): We had a charming and comfortable stay at the Homestead B&B despite the unseasonable wet weather. - Jan was a delightful hostess.
The Homestead BnB, the original Bignell Queenslander, sits in the lush green acreage of the Gold Coast hinterland.
- Debbie (10/5): Friendly retreat - Jan was a very lovely lady She was helpful beyond measure. Great little place to relax if it wasn't raining. The steps & car not under cover
Very slippery if it's raining. Jan is putting nonslip strips on the step
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (8/5): Not long enough - Amazing breakfast
Wonderful Host Nothing
- Jessica (10/5): Exceptional - Jan, the owner, is a wonderful person and made us feel right at home :) The property is beautiful and you immediately soak up the calm energy of this place. 12/10 would recommend!
- Gregory (10/5): Hinterland escape. - We had a lovely evening and night at Homestead BnB. Jan was a really nice host and she cooked us breakfast the next morning. Beautiful country views from the verandah while we ate breakfast.
- Anne (8/5): Great overnight stay - Jan the host, provided excellent service, great range of breakfast options. Close to Gold Coast but secluded into coastal country, with great views from the verandah.
- Jason (10/5): Sensational - My first time trying out the BnB accommodation and couldn't have been happier. Our Host was amazing... very friendly but also recognised that she wasn't there to entertain (made herself invissible). Great views from the balcony, but would have been good to have a light there. Enjoyed a wonderful cheese platter there by phone light (worked out)
- Charlee (10/5): Jan is such a lovely host and we had the best girls weekend! She is so accomodating. -
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stuart (8/5): Very good - Veranda, the view, the decor, comfortable Room was missing somewhere to put luggage and a bigger surface for all your bits and bobs.
- Julia (10/5): Pleasurable experience, in the world looked estate. - We stayed in the beautiful well looked after room, within the main house containing two queen size beds and bathroom facility.
We have arrived really late, and the owner was kind enough to wait for us. She was very considerate of other tenants staying, and with the greatest respect have asked us to be quiet on their arrival, which we try to do.
We have arrived hungry, and she kindly offered us to have some tea and food, that was there for the breakfast.
We had to leave early, and didn’t stay for the breakfast, but helped ourselves with coffee and cookies.
Thank you very much for hosting us, hopefully one day we will be back.
- Bruce (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jody (10/5): A perfect treat for our much needed rest break before heading back into the work year. Exploring the Hinterland was so g - The property is in the perfect location for a lovely getaway. I originally assumed it might be too rural but it was so conveniently close to Movie World, shops and many places we wanted to visit in the Hinterland. It only took us 30-40 minutes to drive to Burleigh Heads Beach and Coolangatta. It was no trouble to drive to the property on good roads but once there it felt like we were in the pleasant country-side. We absolutely loved our host Jan and being the only guests staying - it felt like we were very much at home, welcome and found it relaxing and enjoyable.
- Shantel (10/5): Jan is amazing and the views of the homestead were beautiful - It was very homely and absolutely beautiful property. Jan was just beautiful and accomodating to us all. Hot shower comfy beds and breakfast on the deck 🫶🏼 amazing Coomera hotel only 3 mins away with amazing meals for dinner. Out of town enough for the peace and views but close enough for needs I feel like the room could have locks on doors to make the peace of mind leaving our belongings in the room when not there.
- Trish (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Nothing
- Philippe (8/5): Excellent overnight stay with great host. - Location, cleanliness, variety of food and drinks and the host Jan! Aircon in bedroom a bit noisy.
- Yang (5/5): Passable -
- Marina (10/5): Great atmosphere and homely feel! Highly recommend! - Great atmosphere and homely feel! Close proximity to the village and plenty of space to make ourselves at home! A small mini fridge in the bedroom might be a great addition!
- Kathy (9/5): Our stay here at this lovely old colonial home was excellent. - The location was quiet and very tranquil. The owner/manager was very nice and nothing was too hard. Service was excellent.
Close to most of the theme parks, motorway and Tamborine Mountain. And it was reasonably priced. Nothing. It met all of my expectations.
- Anna (10/5): amazing - everything was lovely, the whole house is beautiful and comfortable. jan is very lovely and generous, and made us feel at home.
- Girisha (8/5): Wonderful and relaxing stay - This room is part of a house but have all the facilities for a family of four. Also has a private bathroom but the owner has access to the washing machine in the bathroom. The kitchen and living area needs to be shared with the owner. No locks to the bathroom/toilet.
- Poonam (9/5): Superb - It was clean.Jan was very friendly. Had to make sure not to make any noise as the owner was living in the same property.
- Jake (10/5): comfy homestay - My partner and I stayed at this amazing home stay with the extremely friendly Jan as our host , who made us feel very much at home.
We had the freedom of the kitchen to cook our own meals after days of camping this was great to have so much space on the stove. A nice room with huge shower and our own little balcony Table next to our outside door. Also another lounging area on the front balcony to enjoy a drink and a view at the end of the day , much needed after 2 days of discovering the very close theme park of Dream-world.
The mini pony Bluey downstairs loves carrots and a pat behind the ear and kangaroos jump through the paddock in the evening also a lot of bird life around the property.
If you want a place that feels a million miles from the Gold Coast but is only 20 or so minutes then this is the place.
Loved it.
- Karen (10/5): Fabulous stay, peaceful & picturesque location. - The property was very clean, well appointed, very comfy bed, air conditioning in the bedroom was excellent, bathroom great, gorgeous views, well located and only 8 mins from M1. Breakfast provisions fabulous & owner’s communication exceptional.
Lovely to feed the little horse and we were so fortunate to have a King parrot arrive on the deck in the morning, gorgeous colours.
Highly recommend. Nothing!
