- Jim (9/5): Ralph was a great host. The work that's been done to restore the Hotel is a credit to them. -
- Thomas (10/5): Great value, vibe and location. - Owner was very personable and went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. Loved the vintage vibe with modern updates. Close to businesses in town.
- Alan (9/5): - Comfortable room, we had room #1 which has sitting room with mountain views. Very good “continental plus” breakfast
- Rosalind (10/5): Because of the position we could go everywhere we wanted to easily.couldn’tget a better position - Definitely the position. The staff were great. We are elderly and the staff knew so they gave us a room at the top of the stairs. Nothing
- Manisha (10/5): -
- Karoline (9/5): - It’s a little gem, lovely people took the time and effort to save this old hotel and now we travelers can use it, thanks 🙏
- Connie (6/5): - Host was very friendly and breakfast was great. Central location. Appreciated help from the host to get our suitcases up the stairs. No bar fridge in the room and stairs to/from the room were a challenge.
- Maree (7/5): Good overnight stay on our journey around Tasmania. - Lovely old building with all town amenities within walking distance. The host was very welcoming and the included breakfast was great. The stairs and tiny room.
- David (10/5): Enjoyable stay in heritage building, highly recommended. - The sitting room attached to the mountain view room was a pleasant surprise. Bed very comfy, continental breakfast very generous and enjoyable and owner/ host Ralph very helpful and friendly. Short walk to train. The shower pressure and water temperature weren’t perfect but didn’t spoil our great experience.
- Bashu Dev (10/5): Beautiful place and close to everything.. owners sre awesome - Royal vibes Nothing everything was nice
- Patricia (9/5): For a one nighter great place to stay very old worldly and right in muddle of town - The host was very welcoming and provided free parking, ithe breakfast was exceptional for a continental style, the room a great size very spacious and a lovely old Federation style building. Nothing really very happy with stay
- McMurtry (9/5): We will be staying here next time we are in Queenstown - The hotel staff were welcoming, helpful and informative about the area. The bed was extremely comfortable, the atmosphere of the old hotel was warm and inviting.
Breakfast exactly what we needed for our day. The stairs were a little daunting but the staff helped with our bags.
- Hugh (9/5): This place far exceeded our expectations! - The Hunters Hotel was a very pleasant surprise. It far exceeded our expectations in every way. From the outside, we weren't too sure what to expect but once we entered the building, we were warmly welcomed by Ralph and shown to our room. Ralph is a genuinely friendly and hospitable host. The room was clean, newly renovated and well appointed. Bed was very comfortable and the room itself was very quiet. A very generous breakfast was served the next day. We loved our stay at Hunters Hotel. Nothing, this place exceeded our expectations.
- Glenn (8/5): -
- Emma (8/5): The hotel has a lot of character and really adds to the Queenstown experience. - Comfortable rooms,
Modern and clean bathroom,
Nice breakfast
- Sempre-Avanti (7/5): Highly rated but not quite right for me - Great location in the main street, IGA next door, pizza place across the road. Quiet.
Ralph was lovely & we enjoyed talking about travel.
Breakfast was fabulous; continental buffet style with quality ingredients.
Overall, I felt it was overpriced for the standard of the room. Breakfast was the saving grace but doubt I'd choose to stay again...sorry! I wish Hunter's Hotel all the best. Room had a strange smell & there was no window.
Wifi didn't work in the room (#5)
- Stephen (9/5): -
- Fuller (10/5): The place to stay - Easy check inn very friendly great breakfast included close to wilderness railway basically walking distance to all shops and facilities
- Alexander (10/5): Perfect place for travellers - We stayed 5 nights and enjoy everyday of our stay. The owner Ralf is very friendly and helpful person. The breakfast is perfectly design and the food is perfectly selected. We can recommend Hunters Hotel for travellers.
- Fiona (10/5): - Breakfast was far better than any continental breakfast, such a great variety of food. Host was very friendly, we had a great time listening to his story and how he came to be in Queenstown.
- Guest (10/5): -
- Phil (7/5): -
- Simone (10/5): Historic Hotel in the city centre - Historic hotel with a very nice and interesting owner who to our surprise spoke German very fluently. We had quite a few chats over the course of our stay, we felt very welcome here.
The basement of the hotel has been restored like it was a century ago (or earlier) and is a bit like a museum. Upstairs are the rooms, also very carefully modernized. We had a great stay and slept very well. Parking is on street, but there's plenty, it's free and safe. There's an IGA next door and the wine bar up the street serves great pizza and bottles. Nothing to dislike. Given the age of the hotel, the rooms are of course smaller than one would build today, but we didn't have an issue with that.
- Harrington (9/5): Excellent spot. - Very friendly owner and big comfortable rooms. Didn’t notice a heater in the bathroom. Would be a cold getting out of the shower experience in the colder months.
- Moav (8/5): - Mr Ralph was very kind and helpful, the Standard room is small and old, but very clean.
- Linda (10/5): I'd definitely stay again - Very happy with my stay at Hunters Hotel Queenstown. The owner was wonderful to talk with and was open to any concerns, queries or questions regarding the Hotel and a wealth of knowledge about Queenstown and its history.
Right in the middle of town, the accommodation is centrally located. I stayed overnight to take a trip on The Wilderness Railway Train and I only had a 1 minute walk to the station. I'd definitely stay again. I found it all very good
- Roger (9/5): -
- Perry (10/5): Great base for Queenstown - Proper European and lashings of
Rooms have been upgraded recently and ensuites brand new.
Do not be fooled by the external appearance - though the place is pretty ancient.
Has not been a pub for over 30 years Nothing. All OK

- Janie (9/5): Historic hotel in the centre of town. - Historic building with comfortable bed and private en-suite. Ralph served up a quality buffet breakfast and was a wealth of interesting yarns. Great spot in the middle of town and a short walk to all the sites.

The historical aspects of the hotel added to its charm

- Wenck (9/5): -
- Harrington (8/5): Superb stay and wonderful host. - Wonderfully restored and very friendly. No heater in the bathroom might be awkward in the colder months.

Our host was very friendly and a pleasure to chat with.
- Gillian (8/5): Very comfortable, great location and Ralph very helpful. Also the continental breakfast was excellent, included in the p - Ralph very friendly, helpful and had everything we needed Bathroom not ensuite
- Leanne (10/5): Great value for money. Ensuite and room. - Great Experience of yester year. Wonderful service. Wonderful breakfast included in price. Great service.
- Sally (7/5): - The location was great The bedding needs to be updated with good quality sheets and towels and better pillows
- Valentin (9/5): Très bien situé et à un bon rapport qualité-prix - L’emplacement, le patron très sympathique, le petit-déjeuner inclus Un peu froid à l’intérieur.
- Paul (8/5): One off opportunity for a step back in time - This is like a very agreeable step back in time. Ideal location in central Queenstown and a charming owner happy to explain the history of the building and how it has been brought back to life. Old school bedding and furniture are comfortable and in keeping. Enjoyable! It seems to me unfair to compare with a modern convenience hotel, and you could pick on any number of details, but that's not the point of a place like this. Be aware though there is no bar or evening restaurant.
- Jeanette (10/5): If you’re planning a trip to Tassie don’t omit Queenstown and make sure you stay at Hunters Hotel - Facilities modern but ambience late 19th century. Our host was very knowledgeable about the area and obviously loved living there. Most comfortable bed we’ve had on this trip. Icing on the cake was breakfast, an amazing feast every morning. Loved it, so nothing to write about here.
- Penelope (10/5): Highly recommend - The small touches made the stay much more enjoyable. Great service too.
- Jane (8/5): The host was lovely, the premises were clean and comfortable and location was great. - For some reason I did not realise breakfast was included. The breakfast was lovely and plenty of it. The room was upstairs and I would upstairs and stairs are difficult for me. My problem, not theirs.
- Rory (10/5): Very much enjoyed the hospitality at Hunters hotel - Quirky and full of charm. A great place to stay in Queenstown. We stayed just the one night - room was very comfy with a good shower. Enjoyed chatting to Ralph about his restoration of the building and the skills learned via YouTube! On-street parking available outside hotel. Continental-style breakfast provided. For dinner, would recommend Moonscape wine bar - numerous wines and the best flatbread pizzas. Nothing
- Emsada (8/5): -
- Kalaivani (8/5): Overall it was a pleasant stay. - Friendly host, informative. The breakfast was good. Location was good, parking was easy. The premises had an old charm about it. Our room had a balcony with a good view of the mountains.
- Sharon (10/5): - Lovely host Ralph. Very clean. Beautiful historical restoration. Lovely breakfast. Great location.
- Maretta (10/5): A welcoming host and a magnificent building. We felt spoilt with all of the extras offered. - A magnificent old building that has been lovingly renovated. We were greeted and made to feel welcome immediately, we had a great chat with the host and he was more than happy to assist in anyway he could.
The bed was softer than we usually sleep on but gosh did we have a great sleep.
The breakfast was magnificent and was enjoyed by all of the guests who were there at the same time as us. So many choices and all delicious. N/A

- Michelle (10/5): - Great to see an old building brought back to life. The new owner Ralph was a genuine Aussie character with lots of stories to tell. The ambiance felt more like a lodge, than a hotel. Congratulations Ralph on creating a warm and relaxing space.
- stephen (7/5): Wonderful and knowledgeable host. So many stories. Recommended - Comfy bed and nice room.
Spot on location for the railway Took an age for the hot water to flow in the ensuite shower
- yi (8/5): - 居住空间有点挤,行李箱没地方放,洗手间太大空间有点浪费
- Robyn (10/5): - Ralph is this business. A wonderful host in an historic building. Great breakfast spread with delicious options .
- Kendal (9/5): Loved this hotel - Really friendly staff and brilliant location .
Rooms were clean and beds very comfortable. Shower was great too . Continental breakfast was nice .
Loved this hotel. Quite quirky in its own way with heaps of character.
- Colleen (10/5): Well done Ralf❣️ we thoroughly enjoyed your company and your hotel accommodation! - Beautifully renovated interior!
Public sitting room was stunning, furnished with antiques.
Ralf was a great host, only too willing to impart his proud knowledge of the hotels history.
Our Room was large and nicely furnished.
Bathroom was spotless and very modern.
Breakfast was an unexpected delight… cereals, different choices of bread, yoghurts, fresh fruit, deli cuts, juices etc all served with crisp white tablecloths and elegant vintage china❣️ The room could have done with a fridge🙏
- Brett (9/5): - Great spot, easy to access.
Room was large and staff were great. A heritage listed old pub being renovated over time. Would stay there again.
