Guest Reviews
- Alice (9/5): Great for groups - Nice space for a large group. The 2 lounge areas was great for us to spend out. And the view of the sea was lovely. Not much toilet rolls and one light was out.
- Gareth (10/5): Ideal for large groups visiting North Berwick and Edinburgh - This house is ideally located, in between the high street and the train station, and close to the seafront in North Berwick. The rooms are comfortable, and there's a large kitchen and dining space so that you can eat as a group. We had a very minor issue with some missing keys on arrival, but communication with the property managers over the weekend was great and it meant it didn't affect our stay at all. Would happily stay here again, and would recommend this property for large groups visiting North Berwick.
- Lyndsay (8/5): Wonderful stay in spacious house, amazing location and great hosts! - Location was amazing, lovely big old house with plenty of rooms and spaces for us all to be together and relax. Bedrooms were spacious and handy having all bed linen and towels provided. The two lounges plus dining room and kitchen was ideal, and everything was bigger than photos looked. Host was helpful with communication before our stay and street parking was fine. We discovered a couple of the lights didn’t work and the house did feel a wee bit run down, it’s lovely though if you don’t look too closely (few wee areas of peeling wallpaper, stains and marks on the tables). I’d actually brought a few table cloths tho which hid those and after reporting the light it was fixed during our stay- we’d still definitely go back!
- Sue (7/5): Excellent location and views. Well kitted out and furnished although some areas in need of attention. - Great location, close to the town and lovely view of the sea from the upstairs living room.
Large house with lots of space for the 6 of us. Well kitted out, everything we needed
Including comfortable beds, clean towels and basic toiletries. We had to pay a hefty deposit of £500 beforehand and have to wait a week after our visit before it’s returned.
The house was generally clean and tidy but there were areas that were tired and needed attention- marks on walls and tables, damage to door and 2 broken dining room chairs. The recycle bin outside was full so we took our recycling rubbish away with us.
- Lisa (3/5): Unclean and unkept property. Shame as has potential! - Good location. Big spacious house with two living rooms and lots of room. The top floor bedroom window ( in a twin bedroom) had been torn off in the storm and was smashed in the garden. The room had a thin secondary piece of glazing remaining that was easily slid open ( no lock). We could not our kids anywhere near the room as it was extremely unsafe.
Under sofas filthy, oven dirty and congealed with cooking fats, many bulbs out or missing ( some in bathrooms), ground floor shower did not drain at all, not enough cutlery, garden FULL of bins overflowing and glass recycling spilling out of boxes, bad communication from local letting agent.
- Minea (9/5): Wonderful house for big groups in excellent location - We had an amazing weekend with my friends for my 30th birthday in this huge and very cozy house. There was plenty of space for everyone and both living rooms are comfortable. We loved the atmosphere and that we could all sit at the same table in the dining room . I loved the open plan kitchen too, so while I was preparing dinner I could talk to everyone, could get drinks easily and so on. The kitchen is very well equipped with lots of plates, glasses and bowls. The bathrooms and everything were very clean, the heating was sufficient too (just had to change the boiler setting from timer to ON which was easy as there was information given beforehand). The location is absolutely superb as well, very central (we loved the Steampunk coffee shop). The beds were especially comfortable with cozy bedding. The agency was also very helpful and answered all of my questions quickly. We didn't find a coffee maker even though the description said it There was a fancy looking machine but it was actually only a kettle as well. This was no issue as coffee shops are quite nearby, but just an observation. The lower lock on the front door is a bit tricky to open, but again not that bad. The dishwasher is a bit tricky to use, opening it was no problem after the guidance from the agency beforehand (it's on the guest portal, has a lot of useful info), however when it was too heavy from plates the lower basket came off the railing and the machine wouldn't start. We had to half load it at a time, but again this wasn't a great issue.
- Norah (7/5): Good - We struggled to find the safe key!
- Jamie (7/5): Good and most welcome, but definitely room for improvement. - The location was fantastic.
We were also very grateful to be able to book this place as one nearer to my fiancee's was flooded several days before her family came over from France. There seemed to be inadequate utensils in the kitchen, so much so that my fiancee had to bring things like knives over from her house.
The window ledge in the front room was disappointly filthy.
I jointly own a self-catering property in the highlands and so know all about the standards that are expected. We were disappointed with these two aspects.
- Heather (10/5): Excellent location and house for family get aways. - House was gorgeous. Dated in areas but really for a big family weekend away it’s got everything you need. Location is perfect. Dog and kids loved the beach and grassy area right on your door step. North Berwick is beautiful and the little town gorgeous too. Lots of cute shops, takeaways, pubs and restaurants. Really everything you need. It was ideal but we weren’t clear on the recycling process. It’s different from Glasgow and couldn’t see any other bins for this use.
- William (7/5): Good -
- Christopher (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (7/5): Good - Location, space, enclosed garden. Views. Clean and comfortable. Parking a bit limited.
One mattress in need of replacement.
- Natasha (10/5): Great big house - Big and well-situated house in a great location. We were 14 people and all fitted in comfortably. The houses has all mod-cons and plenty of space for a large group. We all fitted around table for dinner and also in the living room for family games. But the second living room was also great for the kids to spend time away from us adults. The house was warm and with 3 bathrooms with hot showers. Kitchen was well equipped. Our dogs were happy to be taken for a walk on the beach around corner from the house. North Berwick is lovely even in January. Can't think of anything. Perhaps the price was a bit steep for a short weekend in January, but when you divide it between 14 people it is not so bad.
- Pete (9/5): The prefect house and location for a golf trip. - Amazing location, especially for golfers. Massive rooms and good sized kitchen. SUPERB VALUE FOR MONEY The bathrooms are a little tired but totally functional.
- Edwin (2/5): A disappointing experience in a house that could be great with a little affection and care. - Love the location, the space, the cleanliness, and the views. The beds were also comfortable with good linens. There is only one trash can, no instructions for anything including the heat, no mirror in the ground floor bathroom, no to water in the second story bathroom, the furniture was very tired and uncomfortable.
