- SHERRILYN (8/5): -
- Sallyann (10/5): A perfect place to get away from it all. - Beautiful old farmhouse, very friendly hosts, amazing views. Quiet and peaceful. Lovely cooked breakfasts. Very dog friendly.
- Jingya (10/5): -

- Lynn (8/5): Would book again . Quiet & relaxing . - Breakfast was spot on , location was lovely & quiet with views of the mountain . Although it was out of the way , up a country lane , we found a great taxi firm (24/7) that picked us up & dropped off at exactly the time they were booked for. Maybe a bit of music in the breakfast room , sharing a table with others diners was OK but a bit of background noise might be helpful
- AAMIR (10/5): -
- Bridget (8/5): Beautiful old building with lots of history. Friendly host and comfortable room. Lots of hot water!!! - Lovely rural farmhouse with beautiful views.
- Akin (1/5): In the bathroom there was a spider web and spider and on the bed there was bed bugs - Very small portion
Very poor service the don’t bother guest Give some more food
- Joanne (8/5): Peace and quiet - Loved the isolation and the unspoiled local woods and wildlife. The breakfast was excellent. Lovely big room with plenty of storage. Just a small niggle because I'm a bit OCD, ballrooms and bits in other rooms needed a bit of attention, very dusty in places but the essentials were very clean.
- Jamie (10/5): Tranquil and serene location to getaway and walk - Great location. Secluded. Peaceful and lots of beautiful horses.
- Carrie (6/5): Misleading, dirty & basic - The farm was off the beaten path and away from the peak season crowds. It was peaceful and the staff was friendly. It is a little misleading to say it is a farm. The equestrian “center” was closed which we didn’t find out until after I booked. The rooms were pretty dirty (cobwebs everywhere). Breakfast was extremely basic and the quality was not consistent. Dirty dishes were left in the dining area all day long more than once. The bathrooms didn’t have shelves or vanity space and there was no soap in the shower. All of the doors were self closing and were constantly being slammed unless you stood at the door to wait for it to reach the door frame to prevent the final slam. I looked through the pictures again before this review and never saw most of the photos on this booking profile.
- Linda (10/5): -
- Anna (10/5): The stay exceeded expectations, fabulous location, hosts and breakfast. -
- Karen (9/5): - A wonderful quiet B&B. Please update website, as I did expect horses and bikes to be available.
- Richard (9/5): Superb - Breakfast good.
Location and buildings excellent Facility in room for making ta and coffee
- Sarah (4/5): Adequate but wouldn’t book again - Beautiful view from the window. Good breakfast and helpful friendly staff in the morning. Clean It felt rather spartan. There was no soap or shampoo in the shared bathroom until I asked for it. It felt a bit run down and wasn’t very comfortable. Expensive for what it was
- Patrycja (10/5): Hidden gem - It is a hidden gem. Beautiful, remote location but close to everything. Spotlessly clean, super friendly staff and beautiful rustic decor. Outstanding views from the window. Dog friendly too :-) Mobile Signal is bad in the area and the WiFi signal in the property could be stronger, especially in the rooms.
- Victoria (5/5): Did not feel welcome - The place it is situated in is beautiful. Not for hikers though as very remote. The house itself is spacious and looks lovely The amount of cheek I got from the property manager was unimaginable:
1. first of, I found out last minute I won’t be traveling alone, and called as soon as (three days before the check in) to let the property manager know. The phone went to voicemail, so I left a voicemail. Don’t bother calling, as no one answers and listens to the messages. When arrived with a company, was given a cold shoulder.
2. No good morning, no nothing. I did not feel welcome at the house
3. Said they had snacks - but after I snaked on two packs of 23g cereal between the meals - those were taken away.
4. On the date of check out we had to vacate the property by 10am and go to a festival. I asked to store our suitcases as our train back was at 7pm, and turned out it was easier said than done - again, the request was met with coldness. When we arrived in evening to pick up our stuff, it was placed in a plastic basket outside of the house with the house closed, so we waited an hour in rain outside waiting for our taxi to the train station.
I did not feel welcome here. 4,5-5/10 because the house is beautiful and the location is picturesque
- Ann (9/5): Superb - Quiet location
Lovely too
Great breakfast Mattress very firm but still managed to sleep well.
Some of the road getting there is very winding, so need to take your time as can't always see (blind bends).
- Sarah (8/5): Very good - Wonderful location, very very peaceful
- Paul (9/5): Lovely place to stay in the South Lakes and will definitely be returning - Location- scenic and quiet and ideal for visiting all areas in the South lakes.
Character of the house
Breakfast was spot on
Hosts were nice
Lounge was cosy
Bedroom was a great size with stunning views. Wi-Fi was a bit hit and miss
- Jacqueline (9/5): A wonderful stay in the Cumbrian countryside. - Dina, the host, couldn’t do enough for us during our stay. The bedroom was sumptuous, the breakfast plentiful and the lounge area was very cosy. Had a lovely walk from the Hall through a beautiful woods.
- Hevz (8/5): Hidden gem - Great location to explore lakes. Had the entire place to ourselves so extra nice. Quite rural location even saw a badger one night loved it
Host's were lovely and ensured we were comfortable. Listed building means it's cold so make sure you ask for the fire to be lit. Which they did and it warmed up great.
Shared bathroom no problem as no other guests but not sure I'd like to share with strangers properly great for a group
- Neville (7/5): Good -
- Arthur (8/5): Ideal for 2 nights stay including to relax and walk in the area - Overall, an enjoyable stay.
Tea/coffee, milk, small fridge in shared lounge area
Rustic farmhouse in quiet locality - nice unspoilt area but convenient for Lake District.
Comfortable bed. Roomy enough. Ample storage in bedroom.
Breakfast very good. Owners friendly. Maybe a TV for bedroom
Shared bathroom OK as it was Sept and quiet
- Robin (8/5): For a three-day break it was just what we needed. Comfortable welcoming and good local eateries for - breakfast was great. position was brilliant, bedroom big and roomy. very comfortable. Shared bathroom.
- Lee (9/5): Lovely stay, would defo stay again, very recommended. Amazing place for a nice quiet getaway. - Lovely staff, characteristic, nice views, lovely breakfast, extremely quiet location Breakfast was a little crowded, location is in the middle of a long stretch of very narrow roads (granted the accommodation can’t do anything about this, and it is the Lake District after all, but worth noting for any nervy drivers)
- Tracy (10/5): Lovely friendly owners and staff. Beautiful building and location - It is absolutely beautiful Nothing
- Karen (9/5): Superb - We really had a lovely comfortable stay. Everything was perfect. Staff and owner were friendly and the breakfast was good. Nothing really, very comfortable
- Kate (9/5): Fantastic for a relaxing stay. - The location is great, very beautiful and peaceful, ideal for a few days of recharge and wind down. Lovely walks nearby, not busy at all and dog friendly. Conveniently located near Windermere, within 20min drive. Very friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely be back and recommend to anyone looking for a nice place to chill at the foot of the Lakes.
- Najette (10/5): Exceptional -
- Georg (10/5): Great value, peaceful, idyllic and charming - Wonderful slap-up breakfast everyday and beautiful morning light in the front bedrooms
- Kelly (9/5): A lovely place to stay - The setting was tranquil. Breakfast was delicious, cooked to perfection and good quality local produce. A little isolated meaning driving to the local pubs for a meal as there are no taxis.
- Scott (8/5): Amazing scenery and walks - Beautiful scenery, isolated yet only 10 mins onto an a road. Beds were a little uncomfortable but I do have a back problem so I am very specific with mattresses.
- Christopher (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (8/5): Better than expected for the price and so close to the Lakes tourist areas - Amazing location. Totally remote and quiet with a stunning view (when the sun was out!) Rather dodgy WiFi coverage
- Woolfall (10/5): Exceptional - What an absolute hidden gem this place is ...just returned from a weekend here 28.07.2024 ....
Amazing place ..so peaceful ...tranquil ..the views are stunning ..the staff are lovely people ..the lady who served breakfast couldn't do enough for us ..I.would seriously recommend a visit if you can get in ...its so worth it 👌
- Anne (8/5): Very good -
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional - This was probably my favourite place to stay in The Lakes. It was so quiet and peaceful. It felt like I was in a completely different dimension. The bed was very comfortable too and the people who greeted me were very friendly. Perhaps it was a little far to any shops, but if you drive, it isn't too much of a problem.
- Jonathan (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff, good cooked breakfast, quiet location, good size room. Bed was a bit hard, no soap etc in the bathroom.
- Fionnuala (10/5): Beautiful historic property in a stunning location. - everything was superb; accommodation is in a beautiful historic house with incredible views, location is convenient for exploring the lakes but feels quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was delicious and hosts wonderful. A perfect b&b! nothing
- Elaine (10/5): A lovely place to stay in beautiful countryside - The house is in a beautiful location. Really good walks from the doorstep. Pub within walking distance that does food and pizza
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sunny (9/5): Amazing place to stay when visiting Lake Distric - I thought the location of the property was amazing. The view from the front door is brilliant. Even though the road to the location is a but narrow and isolated and very hard to navigate through when its dark. The staff and people in the property were very nice and co-operative.
- Lois (8/5): Very nice stay in lovely farmhouse, comfortable room. - I thought the breakfast was quite nice but a bit basic. Lovely farmhouse, great room, comfy bed, nice owner and pleasant staff. Notice that bathrooms are shared but this didn’t seem to matter. The quality of the eggs.
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Jayshree (9/5): A gem of a place, great countryside location, very comfortable, with lovely staff and service - Location was great, in green fields with lovely views, a very countryside feel. Away from the hustle and bustle but convenient to get to the nearby towns (15-20 mins drive). The rooms were very spacious, traditionally decorated, and the beds and pillows super comfortable. Plenty of wardrobe and drawer space. Lovely views from the bedroom window. There's no TV or kettle in the room but these are in the shared large living room downstairs so was not an issue. We were initially skeptical of having shared bathrooms but it was hardly an issue as the rooms are quite far apart from each other. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice - continental and hot English with vegetarian options, served on a shared dining table which was a nice way to meet other guests. A gem of a place. Lucky to find it at a decent price
- Sohani (9/5): Wonderful stay, quiet a peaceful and comfortable. - The peace and quiet of this stunning location, the good walking and the wonderful breakfast No non slip mat in the bath.
- Rich (10/5): Idyllic spot in the Southern Lakes - Location was idyllic, views from the room and front of the farmhouse very stunning.
Warmly greeted on arrival and made to feel at home right away.
Room was perfect for needs, already knew that the bathroom was shared so that wasn't a problem.
Offered excellent advice on local pubs and restaurants and drives out into the Lakes. Farmhouse advice was particularly handy as had to leave early on last morning.
Thank you for a wonderful stay, will definitely return if back in the Southern Lakes. Nothing
- Judith (8/5): Very good -
- Gemma (9/5): Superb - Everything! It was very clean, dog friendly (with a small charge per night), comfortable and a nice breakfast. We enjoyed shared evenings around the fire with the other residents. The location was great for exploring windermere, coniston and surrounding areas. Although bathrooms are shared, they are very clean and there was almost always one available.
- Stephen (10/5): Beautiful quite place to stay very nice with log fire at night - Excellent breakfast
- Robert (10/5): Relaxing and peaceful - Location Nothing
- Sadie (8/5): Beautiful setting and charming property with friendly staff who go the extra mile. - The staff were very accommodating and made our stay as comfortable as they could. They gave the personal touch. The room had no kettle for making a hot drink but had one in the main shared living area.
- Tek (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mike (9/5): Superb -
- Andrea (9/5): Wonderful country stay - My daughters and I spent 2 lovely nights at Witherslack Hall Farmhouse. It is a lovely farm and great if you want to relax away from the city and enjoy nature. The breakfast is hearty with lots of variety and the pub in the town closest to the farm is worth a visit.
- Nicholas (7/5): Good - Superb breakfast. Great for walkers No TV in the bedroom or tea or coffee. Available in the lounge though. Very remote with very narrow roads. Some drivers driving too fast near blind bends.ppp
- Gerry (10/5): Exceptional - Our absolute favorite place to stay in the Lake District. Great character and staff. The location is central but off the beaten path so it’s quiet and peaceful
- Veronica (9/5): a lovely relaxing peaceful stay with nice views and location - lovely location with hood woodland walks and peaceful location not much to fault really!
- Borise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rachael (10/5): absolutely brillIiant b and b. fabulous hosts and superb cooked breakfast each day . a gem of a location too. highly rec - beautiful farmhouse in stunning secluded location
- Mattmultiplied (9/5): Great stay in a remote part of the Lake District - Great location for a weekend getaway. The staff are extremely hospitable and make you feel welcome the whole time you're there. Great selection of games in the living room too for evening activities with friends.

- Andrew (9/5): gem in the lakes - The breakfast was first class.
- Debbie (8/5): Very good -
- Di (8/5): Very good - Tucked out of the way off the main tourist tracks. And part of a riding centre.
The staff are welcoming and helpful.
Lovely views from the room.
Warm and cosy. Ironically the great location also presents a slight downside in that it is not an easy walk to local pubs or shops.
- Dan (9/5): Would love to visit again - Beautiful surroundings. Good breakfast. Wonderful to watch the children and horses. shared bathroom
- Dereth (10/5): Exceptional - The remote location There wasn't anything I didn't like
- Dougie (10/5): Nice quite place, very rural. Great breakfast. - Great place to stay, lovely breakfast. Booking process (through Booking.com) was annoying as the venue had to call me for my card details, even though it was the same as what was put through the website! didn't detract from the stay though. Had to arrive by 10 pm which meant rearranging my working day. As it turned out I arrived well before 10 pm anyway. So didn't detract from the stay.
- Chrisyd (10/5): Exceptional -
- Keith (10/5): Exceptional - Deana and John where great hosts My daughter loves horses so was ideal
