Guest Reviews
- Carola (10/5): - The owner was so nice and gave us great tips at what to visit, which was extremly helpful. We had an entire little house to ourselves, with big windows into the little forest. So cozy and great for watching birds and deers.
- Carolyn (10/5): Lovely lodge 20 minutes outside Thurso on the NC500 - Warm welcome from Wayne, the owner who gave good information about the sights in the area. Excellent self contained lodge. Warm and very well equipped, clean and comfortable. Big double room and small single. Peaceful outlook, we even saw a deer in the grasslands next to the lodge. Nothing it was great
- James C (8/5): It is very convient for the morning ferry to Orkney. - It's self-catering. Host was very cordial. Nice sitting room and telly. Beautiful grounds. Lovely birds. Bed was uncomfortable.
Road noise until late.
- Abi (10/5): Great Cosy Stay - Great location, just off the main NC500 route, great views over the field where we saw deer. Spacious living space and main bedroom. Fully kitted out kitchen, with utensils, cutlery and crockery, with milk ready in the fridge when we arrived. Wayne met us on arrival and had put the heating in the lodge on in advance so it was cosy and warm when we got there. The space felt private behind a hedge, separated from the other lodge on the property. Wayne was really friendly and helpful, and told us about his plans for additional, upgraded lodges in future. Good wifi across the whole lodge. The shower was very small (caravan sized), but it did the job.
- Matthew (10/5): -
- Tarokh (9/5): - Lovely, well presented Lodge.
- Kaye (10/5): A must stay - Everything.
I am a very picky person and I can honestly say this stay was amazing.
The location was great. Can’t wait to visit and stay in one of your new cabins. Good luck with the build!
Oh yes, sorry for setting off the smoke alarm !😂 Nothing
- JO (10/5): - The lodge was clean, well equipped, ideally located and Wayne (owner) was friendly and a great communicator. I booked the lodge for my parents and my mum called me after being there for half an hour to say how wonderful the lodge was and she wanted to stay forever. Only staying for one night.
- Steve (10/5): Brilliant on the NC500 - Just great
- Lisa (10/5): Top Gastgeber, wahnsinnig bequem - absolute Weiterempfehlung!!!
- Seth (10/5): -

- Mark (6/5): Great host, accomodation could have been cleaner. - The host was excellent, friendly and informative. He came across as the kind of person who couldn't help you enough, really excellent host. Milk in the fridge was a nice touch. The cleanliness didn't match the very high reviews (see photos). The lid for the milk in the fridge was very unclean, looked like it had been reused for a long time and had gone rusty in places. There was a smell of damp in the lodge (this may be due to low season, as I imagine the lodges aren't used much in March). Bathroom tap was poorly fixed and wobbled around when trying to use it, and toilet cistern lid was cracked. There was no hand wash (only fairy liquid) or tea towel in the kitchen area.
- Liana (10/5): Perfect stopover on NC500 - Friendly and welcoming stop on the NC500. The lodge itself was super clean and perfect for 3 people. Really enjoyed our stay here. Nothing
- daniel (5/5): -
- Gemma (10/5): Perfect, beautiful, relaz, stunning views the best. - Every now again again you find a little gem of a holiday location and this is that ,it is absolutely brilliant ,accommodation, locstion and more importantly what males this a special place is the host wayne,to arrive to a pint of fresh milk being put in fridge is so thoughtful, his friendly manner is lovely.anyone that would like a one night stay for nc500 the best place to stay or even a base for different type of holiday you can do that here.
We will be back, thank you. Nothing.

- Eileen (9/5): Host welcoming and obliging. Cabin well appointed and comfortable. An excellent stay. -
- Lou (10/5): Cosy, peaceful and relaxing - I loved how cosy the lodge was and where it was located. It was so quiet and I was able to properly relax and explore where I wanted to travel to from there. I can’t think of anything
- Laura (8/5): Host simpatico e disponibile - Il proprietario é gentile e disponibile, lodge accogliente e ne tenuto dotato di ogni comfort L’acqua calda é difficile da miscelare con la fredda
- Sarah (10/5): Absolutely perfect stay, location and views are world class. Wayne was super friendly and helpful. Already making plans - Lovely spacious and cosy lodge. We even had a wee Christmas tree. That we couldn’t stay longer 🤣
- Soodeen (8/5): - The place is very cozy and rustic. I loved the old fashion stove and oven powered by gas. The shower appliance needs better balance; it’s either too hot or too cold.
- Wilma (9/5): Very convenient, cozy stop over lovatoon - Wayne was friendly, informative and very responsive
- Alison (9/5): A welcome
overnight stay - I made a mix-up with the booking and they were expecting me a year later. But, Wayne was very accommodating. He put me at ease and gave me an empty unit, constantly reassuring me that I was not putting him out. Nothing
- Sadie (10/5): Lovely and Wayne was so friendly and hospitable! - Loved all of it! We came up for a wee surf holiday and were so overjoyed with the wee lodge. Everything you need to be self sufficient though there are some tasty takeaways in the area too!
- Matt (10/5): - Lovely and clean, pretty sure Wayne is OCD about cleanliness and tidiness, location was handy for the ferries and great value for money Nothing
- Steven (10/5): Outstanding customer care - Location and customer service

All the best in the future Wayne. That i snored that loud I woke myself up lol. It was amazing. No complaints.
- Mario (9/5): - Een vriendelijke host, goede voorlichting over de omgeving Er viel niets tegen
- David (8/5): A good base on the NC500 - Wayne met us on arrival and was very welcoming. The chalet was spotless, well equipped although the decor was a little dated. The bathroom could have done with a refresh and it was explained that the Chalets were in the process of being changed with something more modern but to be honest the existing chalet was very good. Everything we needed worked and we were given local recommendations for an evening meal. Nothing
- Stephen (10/5): - A lovely and peaceful area just outside of Thurso, was greeted on arrival by the owner and given lots of information about the area. There's also a welcome pack in the accommodation for you to look at A little bit too much rain but it's what I expected being this far North.
- Fiona (10/5): -

- Andy (10/5): A little gem - Located halfway between John O'Groats & Thurso, a hidden gem, Wayne the host is a wealth of information & could not be more welcoming. There are 2 pubs located 5 minutes away, we had dinner at the Northern Sands, excellent meals. Would have stayed longer if time permitted, if you're looking for peace & quiet Celtic Lodges is perfect. Highly recommend. Nothing

- Arpit (10/5): Exceptional - Really nice and peaceful place right on the NC500 route.
Wayne is a cheerful person. Had a chat with him and he suggested us some nearby places and the stay was really great.
- Barbara (8/5): Great - It was lovely! Cosy and well kitted out. Owner was very friendly and helpful
- Susan (10/5): Great choice - Needed a stop for the night before catching a ferry further north. Celtic lodges were just the ticket, very reasonably priced, clean, spacious, very comfortable with everything we needed and a wee bit more. Wayne, our host had left some fresh milk in the fridge and seeing as I love my cuppa in the morning this was hugely appreciated. It’s a quiet spot and even being right next to the road it was quiet, easy to find too. I was really quite impressed with the shower in the cabin, small space obviously but great water pressure 👍🏻 and plenty hot water that 3 adults showered without running into cold water. Good location for exploring the area I would say, a lot of good eateries nearby or use the cooking facilities to eat in. There wasn’t anything I would say could improve it.
- Edward (10/5): Exceptional - It was all good milk tea and coffee and the heating was on ready for us host Wayne was really nice and helpful Nothing
- Darren (10/5): Exceptional - Host wain was amazing couldn't do enough for us highly recommend staying here.
- Paula (10/5): Exceptional - Fab location for exploring including trip to Orkney Islands Would be great to have a king size bed instead of a double
- Damian (7/5): Good -
- Waites (10/5): Beautiful gem for the NC500 - Meticulously clean, wonderfully presented and comfortable accommodation. Wayne was an awesome host, couldn't have done more for us, and had a welcoming smile all the time!
Great location for the NC500 and welcomes bikers which is great! Nothing to say!
- John (9/5): Easy accommodation for self catering. - The owner was very friendly and welcoming. The property allowed us to cater for ourselves and relax in a private environment. The place ticked the boxes for somewhere where you could look after yourself and not worry to go out to eat.
- Peter (9/5): Lovely Lodges - Wayne was really helpful and let us check out later which was really handy. Lovely lodge. Everything we needed was supplied. Dunnet Head and John O Groats nearby. Nothing really.

- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christine (10/5): We loved our stay here at Celtic Lodges - We had a fantastic stay here, what a beautiful location! The owner Wayne is such a lovely guy who goes out of his way to help you enjoy your time here, we appreciated the milk and the ice from him. The lodges were immaculate, well equipped and we found it good to relax in the lodge, after all our hotel stays doing the NC500.. if you’re lucky, you may see the pair of golden eagles, gliding gracefully near the tall trees, at the rear of the lodges. What a sight to see.
All in all, a great stay, including a visit to the Castle of Mey, we will make a return visit to the Celtic Lodges.
Thank You so much Wayne.
