Guest Reviews
- Jacklyn (8/5): - We had a lovely stay at The Scarlet overall — the hotel itself is beautiful, peaceful, and in a stunning location. The atmosphere was very relaxing and it definitely felt like a special getaway. The spa facilities and overall aesthetic were really nice, and the staff were friendly throughout our stay.
That said, for almost £900, we did leave feeling like it didn’t quite live up to the price point. It was my birthday during our stay and we were a little surprised there wasn’t even a small complimentary gesture or acknowledgment, especially at a hotel positioned as a luxury experience. Nothing was necessarily wrong, but it just didn’t have that “wow” factor we were expecting for the cost.
Overall, it was a nice place to stay and we enjoyed our time there, but probably not somewhere we would return to based on the value for money.

- Colleen (10/5): Amazing Hotel - Everything is wonderful! The spa, the rooms and the food were amazing! The staff are all very friendly and are willing to head with everything. This was definitely a highlight in our vacation and I will definitely stay here again. None
- David (10/5): Outdoor swimming - The Staff were wonderful and attentive. We arrived a little early, but they were ready and waiting with cool Champagne, which I must say was most welcome after the long drive. Without hesitation a tour of the complex was given. Superb!! The rooms have expectational views of the bay How beautiful it was to sleep to the sound of the sea. If you need relaxation and tranquility this is the place to be!
- Patricia (10/5): Peace, tranquility, perfection - Amazing location, staff so attentive but highlight for us was the quality of the food, best breakfast I have ever had at any hotel and we have stayed at lots of hotels in different countries. Evening 3 course dinner, exceptional!
- stefanie (9/5): -
- Penny (10/5): Excellent - Food was excellent and Matthew in bar brilliant Maybe the toiletries but just nit picking
Thought they could be a bit more luxury
- Kevin (9/5): Georgous place and a perfect end to our week in Cornwall - Amazing view, location and spa. Staff were excellent. The price of the treatments is high and if you’re paying £190 for a 1.45 hour massage it should be 1.45 hours not 1.30 hours.
- Matthew (7/5): The attention to detail was lacking. - Location, ambience, facilities Property was excellent, level of service was disappointing.
- Leo (10/5): -
- Christian (8/5): A well deserved weekend of being spoilt with remarkably good weather - Beautiful setting, modern relaxing atmosphere Nothing
- Paul (10/5): Amazing birthday for my girlfriend. Will definitely be back - Great location Peaceful but classy

- Maria (9/5): unforgettable birthday gift - This hotel has a very special energy as it is located on top of a cliff in one of the most beautiful beaches in Cornwall. Both the outdoor and indoor spa facilities are great. The staff is ever so friendly. It was my birthday and they went one step ahead to make sure I felt special. The only thing that we thought should improve is the decoration inside the bedrooms. Painting, furniture, fabrics even the mattress feels and look a little bit tired. In saying so, because we really enjoyed our stay there this was a secondary.
- Nick (9/5): -
- Charlie (10/5): An excellent staycation - The facilities and atmosphere are fantastic, very attentive and friendly staff. The food was absolutely wonderful, a real credit to the kitchen team. Will come again. £30 for the hot tub seemed a pinch when they're mostly not being used.
- robin (10/5): Ding Dong - The staff were brilliant
- Robert (10/5): Wonderful, indulgent weekend getaway! - Laid back vibes, so comfortable, so indulgent, great staff and fantastic position. No slippers.
- Jirarat (9/5): -
- Nathan (10/5): - A huge thank you to all the staff at the Scarlet hotel for making our wedding anniversary so incredibly special. We got engaged there 10 years ago and for our 8th wedding anniversary my husband took us back. From the moment we walked in it was so special. Bex greeted us and was lovely; warm, friendly and professional. Our room was beautiful and the spa was exactly what we both needed. Everything was spotlessly clean and the whole place positively exudes really thoughtful personal touches. We had dinner that night and the food was outrageously good! Tristan in the restaurant was brilliant, his eye for detail impeccable, as were all of his recommendations. Thank you ALL so much for making our wedding anniversary unforgettably amazing!
- Marie (5/5): Generally fine but wouldn’t go back. - Beautiful views from room windows facing the sea.
Nice indoor pool Bed uncomfortable, tilted one side.
Toilet had a misted glass door so all toilet noises heard in the bedroom
No kettle in the room- had to keep ordering drinks (free but nicer to make your own when you want to)
No variation at breakfast apart from a different daily pastry
Breakfast was too fussy- grapefruit had sugar caramelised top- tasted burnt, vegetarian breakfast had spinach covered in butter and there was no other bread/toast option except sourdough , which to me tastes like cardboard. Porridge was too sweet and there were no normal cereals, fruit bowls or normal yoghurts.
We didn’t use the spa treatments as they were about 4 times what I would pay at home for a facial or massage. Happy to pay more but not that much!
- Nicola (9/5): -
- Claudia (6/5): A nice place that could be easily improved with some simple measures. - The view, the spa, the art The bed, the pillows, the lack of coffee/ tea in the room, the light switches, the set menu
- Alex (8/5): -
- Parmesh (7/5): -
- Sean (8/5): - The dinner, bed and breakfast rate I prepaid should have included everything except extras. It should definitely include any service charges. Finding these on the bill when leaving was a shock and ruined what had been a great stay.
- Elizabeth (10/5): FABULOUS! - Location

- caroline (10/5): Fully recharged and ready to start work again on Monday. - Just getting away from work & enjoyable the peace & quiet of nature was breathtaking. Just looking at the sea was mesmerising, certainly great for ones health & wellbeing. I liked everything about Scarlet Hotel, Staff, facilities, food & location were just incredible. There was nothing I disliked.
- Keeley (10/5): It’s our second stay here and we loved it as much as the first time and will def be back - Location , staff , food spa treatments
- david (8/5): -
- Mark (10/5): - Excellent hotel, very friendly staff.
- Mark (10/5): Birthday weekend - Excellent hotel, very friendly staff. Relaxed and comfortable.
- Dimitri (10/5): Perfect relaxing stay - The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The facilities were great and the atmosphere was very calm Nothing
- paul (10/5): Thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing, fabulous staff, enjoyed the hot tub and relaxing spa treatment - Fabulous location, beautiful room with superb views and easy access to wild nature friendly gardens and beach. Great shower, comfy bed. No Tea/coffee in room, shower/shampoo in wasteful plastic bottles, prefer a dispenser.
- Faith (10/5): Exceptional - The service was top notch. And the view and location spectacular That we had to leave
- Fiona (8/5): Relaxing & restorative - The view
- Dan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gavin (9/5): Paradise found - The location of the Hotel is absolutely perfect It rained one morning!!!
- Joanna (10/5): Perfect location and incredible staff. - The area was beautiful, the hotel exceptional, and the staff beyond words. Everything was perfect. When a scheduling error arose due to their system for the space, they rebooted us at no additional fee and provided complimentary drinks.
- Andy (9/5): really great place. Very relaxing -
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dennis (8/5): Very good - 1 We felt that the food didn't meet our expectations.
- Jan-philip (2/5): I would avoid this place like the plague. - The view is nice, access to a great beach Regrettably, our experience at your hotel was far from what we had hoped, and we are left deeply disappointed.
1) TERRIBLE service across the board.
2) No acknowledgment of a significant special occasion we had informed of in advance.
3) Neglect of meaningful personal belongings
4) Unprofessional and alarming behaviour of staff with regards to simple requests
5) Staff left poorly concealed post-it notes with insults about guests on the reception desk
6) Manager is nowhere to be seen despite multiple requests to speak to them. Very clear they avoided us
7) The rooms are very basic and lack any level of luxury. Poor finishes are hidden under the guise of "eco-friendly"
8) The decor in the restaurant is depressing and dark
9) We subsequently wrote a complaint email and it was completely ignored / zero communication from the hotel
Overall one of the worst places we have ever stayed at. Would avoid this place at all costs and instead stay at a friendly bed & breakfast in the area.

- Bruce (1/5): Bad - Nothing staff were rude to me, as a veteran of the UK armed forces who is dependent on medical prescription cannabis I was spoken to very rudely by a member of staff who's college previously said it was OK to smoke on my balcony, this could have been handled much more diplomatically without the anger and nasty tone, having been here numerous times and spending over 8k over the years we will not be returning Nothing staff were rude to me, as a veteran of the UK armed forces who is dependent on medical prescription cannabis I was spoken to very rudely by a member of staff who's college previously said it was OK to smoke on my balcony, this could have been handled much more diplomatically without the anger and nasty tone, having been here numerous times and spending over 8k over the years we will not be returning
- Colin (9/5): Spectacular Cornwall Stay - The location is spectacular, the staff are always friendly, helpful and courteous. The building is interesting, lots of balconies, quiet rooms and good facilities.
All really helped by mid February bright sunlight and the bonus of being able to whale watch from the coastal path. Only disappointment is the style of the dishes available. Slightly too much dressing on salads, too rich sauces on mains. Simpler, paired back options would be appreciated.
However, the sister hotel Bedruthin does provide a good menu choice in the cafe.
- Julie (9/5): Superb - Great staff. Nothing.
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ayushma (8/5): Very good - Location was perfect to unwinding. Facilities were all good and staff were very friendly and welcoming . We had our 8 year old cocker spaniel with us for the stay. They were thoughtful to offer us a room on the level for easy direct access to the beach. highly recommend for a break even though it is slightly on an expensive range. nothing.
- Florence (9/5): Superb - Amazing location. Very good food, albeit a bit more on the expensive side. It's a luxury hotel with a higher price but when you include the majority of the spa facilities it's not bad value for money.
- Adela (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely beautiful, relaxed but stylish. Amazing staff, phenomenal food, gorgeous location. Can’t recommend highly enough. We’ll be back same time next year!
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Staff were fantastic.Very very comfortable excellent quality showers and heating Amazing. You couldn’t dislike anything about the hotel
- Emma (10/5): Perfect relaxing break - Beautiful property with amazing views, location, facilities and food.
Staff so accommodating too.
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional - The whole experience was a total escape from real life.
Beautiful setting..calm and tranquil environment no loud noises no bright lights...
The staff were genuine and friendly.
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Cedric (9/5): Superb -
- Stephanie (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (9/5): Superb - Spa facilities and stunning location
- Nick (8/5): Very good - It was ok the lady was lovely. We came over for my partners birthday but was poorly and we had to leave on his birthday so everything was cancelled
Sadly my husband Nick sperrin died 15/11/24
- Anna (9/5): Fantastic! - Just beautiful - modern yet classy and clean and beautiful
- Abbie (7/5): Not bad, views made up for it. - Beautiful location and views were stunning. Sunset views out of this world! Lovely spa facilities. No tea & coffee facilities in the room. You have to order them from the staff and wait for it to be delivered. Personally would have preferred to make my own.
Our blind was broken upon arrival. I immediately reported this but for the 4 nights we stayed, it remained broken and eventually completely fell off.
When I booked the room (and paid in full), a few days later i received a call telling me that I would have to move rooms after the first night, I told them i was not happy about this and they said the only way round would be to cancel my current booking and upgrade, which I refused to do. I made the booking and paid in full in good faith and I was not prepared to inconvenience myself because of their error. They did eventually sort it all out, but didn't call me back to confirm as they had promised. Did leave a bad taste in my mouth.
- Herman (8/5): Very good -
- Nick (9/5): A plush but relaxed atmosphere. The staff are attentive but add to the chilled vibe. Not pretentious at all, but everyth - Beautiful building and location
- Sandra (10/5): 48hours of bliss - Faultless service, incredible food and amazing views, complete with comfortable places and spaces to linger
- Lucy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ben (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (1/5): It was a retirement holiday , we’re both plant based also gluten free dietary . We were treated horrendously bad over br - Clean , tidy and modern . To big the rooms. .
- Lindsay (9/5): Lovely, indulgent stay - Stunning location, beautiful room, great spa facilities - all wonderful! Loved the outdoor pool and the range of outdoor seating options - all with great views. Food was good but not great - gritty spinach, some dishes didn't quite live up to their billing but all were beautifully presented
- Neal (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mia (7/5): Would definitely return - Food was absolutely sensational! The spa was disappointing.. no music in the inside areas , toilets dirty , massages expensive and not adequate , £40 to sit in water that dozens had sat in previously and no drink brought when we ordered the hot tub . rooms were light of facilities but they explained that this was due to sustainability, however so mush about the wasn't sustainable, that it felt we were cheated and this was a way to make / save money .. we paid a lot of money , so to not have a reception after 11pm so no way of getting drinks or coffee to the room was again disappointing .. very uncomfortable sunloungers by the pool. Staff and chef in particular .. amazing
- Gideon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Darren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Keir (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shaleni (10/5): It’s a great place to go for a couple , romantic peaceful and walks in the beach are to die for. - The view and the spa facilities, the food in the restaurant during dinner and the views! The spa massages are overpriced one hour for 130 and you only get a back of your body , foot and head massage, not the full front of feet , leg and hands. It was good massage but it’s more of a relaxing one than a deep tissue type so just be aware of that.
Rooms could do with an interior update in my opinion- I didn’t feel the decor was in tune with the hotel vibes for some reason - like the curtains and just finer details - but the views from the room are amazing.
- Adrian (10/5): Exceptional -
