Every detail has been thoughtfully considered to ensure a perfect stay — from an impressive selection of teas and excellent coffee to countless special touches that are best discovered for yourself, just as we did.
Breakfast was generous, fresh, and once again full of delightful extras. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again when passing through.

- Ali (10/5): Amazing hosts at beautiful spot - Hosts Lissy and Chris were so welcoming. Plenty of small touches that are rare these days. Beautiful spot, with a great pub in town too.
- Sharon (10/5): Perfect country stay - A very comfortable and enchanting stay, beautifully furnished, with everything we needed. The breakfast was delicious, cooked by our hosts with special extras like homemade berry compote and great coffee. The location was an easy walk downtown to eat at the local pub. The hosts Lissy and Chris were very accommodating, Lissy especially considerate of our needs and comfort. Zilch
- Sylvia (9/5): A beautiful home in a quiet street in easy walking distance to the town. - A beautiful property with thoughtful and beautiful inclusions. We enjoyed the excellent fully cooked breakfast on the large verandah overlooking the gorgeous garden and our hosts could not have been more welcoming and friendly. We even had a high tea on our second day served in our cosy lounge room and it was absolutely delicious! Can highly recommend this if you have the time. We were travelling with another couple and there was only one bathroom, however the hosts are in the process of adding another one, as well as a more functional kitchen area.
- Rhonda (10/5): The apartment was spacious and very inviting Lissy and Chriss are wonderful hosts and it was interesting to hear the st - Very clean private apartment tastefully decorated

- Glenda & Peter (10/5): Exudes Olde-World Charm - Good communication with the owners who are passionate about making their guests feel at home. Loved the old world charm and the history of the place which was a welcome stopover for us on our highway north. We had dinner at the local pub in Gunning only a short distance away and on our return were able to enjoy an evening glass of port before bedtime. Breakfast provisions included for the morning were generous and we would definitely stay there again.
- Richard (8/5): This was a cosy and comfortable place for a short getaway. - The history and country charm of the house, the quiet location, the garden, the casual comfort of the facilities, the excellent modernised shower with plentiful hot water and pressure, the breakfast on the verandah overlooking the garden, the yummy cookies, chocolates and port, the friendly hosts. From the previous reviews and photos, we thought a cooked breakfast was always provided but it was never mentioned. We had very good fresh croissants however, with real butter and plentiful good jam.
The bright sensor lights in the bathroom corridor area were disturbing during the night for the person in bed.
- Michelle (9/5): Amazing hosts and wonderful overnight stay. - The attention to detail is something to be commended at Barbour House. There were so many moments of nostalgia that it felt like I had popped in to visit my grandma. From the old fashioned bellows, irons, and crockery to even the Biggles books on the shelves. The sitting room was very comfortable, and we had options to play games, read, or watch TV with a choice of streaming services. At the end of our evening in Gunning, we indulged in a glass of port supplied by our wonderful hosts Chris and Lissy. The bedrooms were very plush, with extra blankets in case we were cold they were both beautifully decorated, and the beds were very comfortable. There was also lots of choice for our continental breakfast (cereal, juice, coffee, tea) but our host also delivered homemade Bircher muesli which was delicious, as well as offered to cook bacon and eggs and freshly brewed coffee. Chris and Lissy were fantastic hosts. All in all a wonderful experience! There was nothing that we disliked.
- Ray (10/5): A historic and comfortable weekend getaway with treats. - The hosts were so accommodating and added lots of lovely special touches.
The house was historic and the furnishing was lush.
The cooked breakfast was outstanding. I have nothing negative to say. We’d love to stay another time.
- Jason (10/5): - There isn't a thing we didn't like... From the very first hello from our beautiful hosts to the hugs goodbye this morning we felt like a part of a wonderful family.
Lissy and Chris went above and beyond to accommodate us with just an amazing sense of warmth and care that I've never personally experienced from anyone at a B&B.
There truly aren't any words that can describe how thankfully I am for such a wonderful visit.
We were in town for a friend's wedding and I feel that we've stumbled upon a weekend away treat that my wife and I will be sure to visit again in the future
Thank you again for such a memorable stay There is absolutely nothing ill that can be spoken about our wonderful host and their beautiful B&B.

- Allan (9/5): Lovely place to stay whilst experiencing Gunning - The hostess was lovely and made the stay an experience rather than a bed for the night
- Lisa (8/5): Very enjoyable. Quaint town. Would stay again. - The style of the place & history. The generousity with food and drinks. There was a misunderstanding on whether we had a late check out.
- Rebecca (10/5): Beautifully decorated older property with lovely beds and thoughtful extras - super friendly hosts too! - The old-world style brought up to date and the vintage kids’ toys Nothing
- Col Robinson (10/5): Overnight stay , Jumly '25 - Very nice, helpful hosts.
Nothing was a trouble.
Lovely fireplace set up ready for us, strike a match and hey presto...lovely and warm.

- Michelle (9/5): Very cute, comfortable and quiet with vintage touches but modern amenities. - It was really cozy and quiet. We liked the place as soon as we arrived. It's decorated with old books and there's a gorgeous fire place ready to go. The bedrooms were very nice and beds super comfy with very warm doonas. We had brought a meal to heat up for dinner but there was nowhere adequate to wash up the dishes so we could use them again in the morning. Access to a sink in the kitchen would be handy for a longer stay.

Every room is beautifully furnished with special pieces, manchester and small bunches of dried flowers. Loved the bathroom and beds. Everything is in pristine condition and clean. A cabinet contains an incredible choice of teas, as well as a coffee machine. Home made biscuits on arrival, a welcoming card with lavender was delightful. Had a wonderful warm breakfast prepared by the hosts who were very welcoming and lovely to talk with. Met their affectionate dog called Harry and we wandered around the historic town which was close by. Highly recommend.
