Guest Reviews
- Erzsébet Katalin (10/5): I enjoyed every moment of my staying there.Thank you. -
- Gloria (9/5): Classic en suite student accommodation. Very satisfied. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. - Clean, comfortable, value for money. Quiet location with views across fields looking at rolling hills and livestock. Location makes it very accessible to any part of the Peak District.
A basic English breakfast however it was tasty and cooked to a high standard. Continental choices were also on offer. reception and service staff were friendly and accommodating.
I arrived out-of-hours. Instructions how to obtain my room key and parking instructions were clear and concise.
- Bert (7/5): - De locatie de rust en de heilige sfeer De inrichting van de overigens ruime kamer en badkamer. Met een beetje aandacht is er veel meer comfort te bereiken.
- Christopher (8/5): - Away from it all. Very quiet. Friendly people. Boiler failed so no hot water Saturday morning, cold shower.
- carl (8/5): - Lovely breakfast and great location

- Omar (6/5): Great location but pretty average. - Great location. Pleasant receptioninst Room heating was on full blast in summers and reception closed at 5 pm so no one was available to help. Also requested for a fan but didn’t receive a reply to my sms to the out of hours contact. Room was changed next day but had to take all the luggage uphill. Also both me and my wife got sick after breakfast on the first day.
- Carol (10/5): Exceptional - The breakfasts were excellent No entertainment....very quiet!
- Arran (10/5): 100% recommend and would return - Spotlessly clean and the location was amazing !!
Good breakfast with lots of choices.

- Blanquet (7/5): Good -
- Paul (10/5): Good value for money. - Basic, but good value for money. Close to where I needed to be for work. No issues at all. I don't know what the breakfast was like, I had to be at work for 6am!
- Zara (8/5): Very good - The staff were very friendly and very welcoming. The room was cozy and the bed was comfy. I would recommend this place as it’s cheap and good value for money. The breakfast was really nice too!
- Kate (9/5): Good value pleasant surroundings - Close to Chatsworth Hot not sound proof
- Grice (8/5): Just what I wanted for a weekend walking in the Peak District - Breakfast options were limited, but what was offered was plentiful and well presented. Choice of cereal, fruit and bakery lines

- Neil (9/5): Superb -
- Robert (9/5): Pleasant stay, ideal for a walking break - Comfortable, modern rooms, good breakfast The WiFi was top quality when we arrived on Saturday but seemed a bit unreliable on Sunday and Monday morning.
- Alison (9/5): Brilliant place to stay - Beautiful countryside, comfy room. I love staying here! Problems with TV and safe - not big problems but the same as when I was here 2 months ago in a different room. Not enough to put me off returning though!
- Ruth (10/5): Great location and great value! - Location
Cleanliness
Value for money Might have been nice to have a few biscuits with the tea and coffee in the rooms?!
- David (5/5): Passable - Pleasant location. Staff helpful and obliging. The issue that clouded my view of the property was my inability to have some sleep due to light pollution during the hours of darkness.
The single room had a comfortable bed and the bathroom facilities were good, however it had been designed with a glass external door leading directly into the room and with only a lightweight blind covering the door. Security lighting nearby added to the problem.
A kind lady on reception moved me for my second night to another (double) room that was more comfortable and remarkably even had wooden doors.!
Unfortunately for me my second day had been spoilt as I felt exhausted due sleep deprivation.
Will not stay here again.
- Marion (8/5): A relaxing short break in a stunning location -
- Danielle (6/5): Nice stay, terrible breakfast. - The views were stunning and the staff were friendly. The sheep were very talkative. The breakfast is terrible. First day, no bacon. Just egg, sausage and beans. Second day, no cooked breakfast, just cereal and yoghurt. Not ideal being lactose intolerant. So, I had to eat the yoghurt and put up with the consequences.
- Mary (8/5): Very good -
- Debbie (8/5): Very good - NO EGGS FOR BREAKFAST
- 443361875 (10/5): Cliff College - The breakfast was good, the chef was very friendly and helpful he even made me melted cheese on toast.
I picked this as it was "in the middle of nowhere". A nice quiet stay and was able to climb up the big hill behind it. Can't think of anything.
- Alison (9/5): A delightful idyll, and a great place to go walking from. I really enjoyed watching the scenery from my room. - I loved hearing the birds and an occasional moo or baa! The trees are beautiful and looking out to the Dales was a very special experience. Nothing!
- Burney (10/5): Exceptional - Brilliant place and lovely people. The views are breathtaking
- Lesley (8/5): Very good -
- Nicola (9/5): Clean, comfy room - Lovely warm, cosy room. Very clean. Comfy bed. Decent shower. My room had great views and plenty of parking. Breakfast functional rather than fancy but still cooked items, toast, cereal, hot drinks.
- Diane (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely welcome and very friendly helpful staff
Peaceful location
- Steve (8/5): Very good - Lovely peaceful setting, 40 minute walk to Curbar Edge. The breakfast was a bit basic, but it's a college canteen not the Ritz so it was fine.
- Valentina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emma (9/5): Great location, lovely rooms and fab breakfast, would recommend. - Great location. Room was lovely, very clean. Nice and warm TV was fixed to the wall so you could only watch it sat at the desk.

- Fletcher (8/5): Very good - Easy to find
Very clean and tidy rooms
Very helpful and friendly staff
- Theodora (9/5): Superb - It was just as described on booking.com. It had everything ones needs for a short stay. The room was very spacious and comfortable. It had underfloor heating which was brilliant. WiFi was great. The room isn't very well noise insulated so you can hear noises from outside quite clearly. Nothing a pair of ear plugs can't fix though.
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - Everything I need !! Lovely & Cosy and staff Excellent
- Sharon (10/5): A very enjoyable one night stay. - Location was excellent. Very remote overlooking fields. A lovely newly built accommodation block. Ideal for walkers. Communication with Helen in reception was excellent. Nothing could have been better.

- Helen (10/5): Highly recommended. Great value. Modern, spotless room in beautiful surroundings. - Spotless, warm single room. Very comfy bed. Beautiful views of Curber edge and surrounding fields from my room. Parking right next to the accommodation. Everything I needed for my two night stay visiting friends nearby. All staff I encountered at the college were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and a good selection of hot and continental, fruits and yoghurts.
As a single female I felt safe and there was an out of hours number to ring of staff on site if I needed anything. Nothing to put here. Liked everything.
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Claire (9/5): Excellent value and extremely pleasant staff. - A very warm welcome and a perfectly adequate room and breakfast. No frills but excellent value for money. Spotlessly clean and warm. The mattress was a little hard but this is a matter of taste.

- Dario (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (10/5): Lovely. - Very friendly reception, outstanding views, included breakfast, good value for money. A bird did a massive poo on my car! 🤣🤣
- Isabelle (9/5): An excellent, affordable place to stay in a great location - The room was spacious and had all the essential facilities. There was a nice view from the room too. Shower was really nice and easy to use. The breakfast was good and had slightly different things every day, making it nice and varied. Staff were friendly and helpful. The location was ideal - a walkable distance from attractions such as Chatsworth House, and had lots of bus connections to places like Castleton, Bakewell, and attractions like Blue John Cavern. TV was positioned away from the bed, making it a bit awkward to watch, but this wasn't a major issue.
- Barry (4/5): just ok , left early - breakfast was ok, i work at holiday inn express better room tv you can watch in bed, kettle that works , shower head leaked ,cup was dirty

- Priscilla (9/5): Superb - Spacious, clean, quiet with a communal lounge and kitchen area that made it more comfortable than having to sit in your room. Staff were very helpful and accommodating.
- Kim (6/5): The staff very chatty and friendly, there was no housekeeping at all , we had the same towels the whole stay. We had to - The location was good for us , service’s/ bus readily available locally
- Maria (10/5): A lovely introduction to tDerbyshire - It was well maintained the staff was efficient and kind. Great communication about out of hirs self check in and the staff was great. Thank you All is goid the rooms were clean and comfortable.
- Andrea (7/5): Good - College digs but we were working so didn't really use the room.
- Lesley (8/5): Very good -
- David (9/5): Excellent value for money accommodation in a beautiful location. - Perfect location for our two planned weekend walks. The college offers terrific value for money and I would stay there again if the opportunity presented itself. The room was just what I needed. Ok, there are no frills but that’s not what I needed. We were welcomed by Chloe, who was wonderfully friendly and helpful. As I said, some people might find the accommodation a bit basic but it represents excellent value for money. In an ideal world, a little more choice for breakfast would have been nice, but that’s being overly picky as the breakfast supplied was fine. Oh! Fresh juice would have been preferable to those little cartons but I accept that might not be a viable option.
- Frances (8/5): Friendly, quiet, clean well equipped bedrooms and excellent location. - The location is excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
- Andrea (6/5): Pleasant -
- Antony (10/5): First visit - Relaxing atmosphere. Beautiful surroundings

- Sara (9/5): Superb -
- Thalie (9/5): Really well priced accommodation in a lovely location. - Cliff College is in a beautiful, quiet location in the Peak District. The room was in a modern building with parking next to it. It was clean, had everything we needed including a comfortable bed. Breakfast was served in the spacious dining hall and was plentiful and delicious. The bathroom drain smelt a bit.
- Huub (8/5): Convenient - Nice compact and private room with good facilities. The location is great, central in the Peak District. I was there in March and about the only guest for the big hall reserved for eating. Understandable that the buffet was limited but it did the job Breakfast could have been better, more personal
- Matthew (6/5): Pleasant - Cheap
- Jim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helen (8/5): Very good -
- Andrew (7/5): Good - Quiet rural location, clean and modern room. Warm room from under floor heating. Breakfast from hotplates was luke warm. Pre cooked toast was limp. Bed small. Drains smelled of sewage in the morning. Very little information given at check-in. Muddy parking. Door blind defective.
- Heather (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roger (9/5): Superb -
- William (10/5): Built to a high standard - a beautiful location - very quiet - A beautiful quiet location
