- Chevvy (3/5): Dissapointment. Dont judge by the photos - Super dirty. I dont complain on here ever, but, Everything covered in dust and gecko poo. I get we are in the tropics but they could have at least cleaned the place. Toastie machine was full of old food. Plates and bowls covered in dust and insects. Cockroaches. Tiny little plug in AC unit so if its wet season you have to put up with a really noisy unit or sweat. Overall left a bad taste in the mouth for what you pay you definitely arent getting your moneys worth. Airbnb stlye accomodation except there is no cleaner. Spend your money elsewhwere
- Jesse (10/5): -
- Eliza (1/5): Bad - Bad Bad
- Ian (1/5): Really bad, tried to contact the property for a refund and no response. I will sue. - Nothing They don’t answer my calls
- jrf (7/5): Good quiet stay - The room was nice and large with amenities like fridge, towels, etc. provided. Bed was super comfortable! Owner was very helpful, welcomed when arriving late at night. There was still rubbish in the bin, fridge wasn't turned on, some basic plates and cutlery missing. It would have been nice to have essentials like salt, pepper, tea/coffee etc. in the room.
Could hear noise coming from the people living upstairs which was annoying when it got late at night. Quite far from Airlie Beach town, fine if you have your own car.

- Samantha (8/5): - we were stranded due to flight mechanical issues whilst on the tarmac and got accomodation at Coral Sea Resort but there were some issues with their booking and they cancelled our room last minute and we found this hidden gem late in the day after a very stressful day. It was boat race week and there was no accomodation left except backpacker accomodation. We were pleasantly suprised with this accomodation. It reminded us of Bali and the shower pressure was fanastic. A comfortable room for a great price. Lots of options for pizza or fastfood and coles within walking distance. Not close to Airlie Beach, would need to use car or taxi to get to Airlie Beach.
- Keith (1/5): appalling service - They are very misleading. We were not given correct checkin details and the room we though we were in was not cleaned so my staff left. We were then told the next day we went to the wrong room. Like i told them they gave us incorrect check in details that did not clearly state what our room number was. We then had to book additional accomodation and they would not refund. Worst accomodation in airlie beach by far. Everything
- nicole (6/5): Could be much better with a better airconditioning…. And maybe some signs? - Liked The quite location. Place was difficult to find though.
Had to search for staff but were very nice and helpful. Room was hot. Bathroom even more, airconditioning did not do the job.
- Anders (8/5): -
- Sheryl (4/5): - Location
Owner was nice Didn’t look like photos
Needs a lot of work
Shower had pressure but uneven stepping stones in the bathroom are down right dangerous
Room was very small and sparce
- Martin (1/5): -
- James (3/5): - The location was good near the beach and the shops. The guy put us in the wrong room and told me off for using the outdoor cooker as its only for 1 room to use even though it looks communal.
I personally wouldn't stay there again, the a/c is portable so very noisy and was not on or the fridge plugged in so everything took along time to cool down.
The owner made you feel uncomfortable you can tell straight away its his house so I felt I couldn't use or touch anything.
Do yourself a favour and spend just a little bit more for something 10 times better. Was so happy to be leaving in the morning after not much sleep.
It advertised a bbq which it didn't have , as we had bought food to cook on the bbq. He definitely needs to lift his game when it comes to his bnb.
- Susanne Maria (10/5): Utmärkt. - Toppen boende med bra bemötande.
- Matthews (1/5): I didn’t stay as I have a phobia of share houses and when I went to check in we couldn’t as there was no one there and w - Nothing Its a tun down old house that’s the owner has rented the bedrooms out
- Bos (7/5): Basic Comfortable Accommodation - Eclectic vibe Tv didn't work for the movie to relax before bed. No little extras you would expect such as tea or coffee or little soaps, easy enough to bring my own next time though.
- Cass (10/5): I would definately book the Patio Room again, if I am ever back in Airlie Beach again. - I loved the Patio Room I stayed in the shower was amazing. I loved how remote and peaceful the poperty was. Everything was so nice.
- Edgar (1/5): Only booked this because there is nothing available at the last minute. - Good location Truth in advertising. The property is rundown, the surroundings is unkempt and the aircon is very noisy. The property feels third world.
- Amanda (1/5): - Walked into the room, and all you could smell was mould. We walked straight out and left and didn't stay.
Photos make it look amazing but in reality was not what I was expecting. Very disappointed.
- Alex Cuestas (7/5): -
- Bruce (1/5): -
- rodney (1/5): - everything. totally unsafe.
- Lindsey (9/5): -
- DAVID (10/5): - Interesting floor plan - good wifi and excellent hot shower! It's a little tricky to find ... kind of "hidden"
- Dmytro (7/5): - Location Photos doesn’t match the reality. It doesn’t look like photos at all. Furniture was very old. Surroundings were dirty. The bathroom is a nonsense
- Mariah (10/5): -
- Aridna (7/5): Good deal! - It’s one of the cheapest option in the area. Clean room, private shower and bathroom, good deal if you are on a budget. No airflow in the room. So it got muggy after shower or after using the toilet.
- Sasha (7/5): -
- Gabriel (7/5): -
- Grace (1/5): - Nearby shops We didn't like the doors because there is no security screen and it's under a house and near a drain it's not healthy environment Also we haven't slept on it and wanted our refund but no refund provided
- Brown (4/5): -
- Anna-Lina (10/5): Very cool place to stay. We almost moved in. Clear recommendation! :) - Easy Check-In and Check-Out
- David (1/5): Went else where - Upon inspecting the property, it was considered not suitable
- Gayleen (9/5): -
- Daniel (8/5): - Nice and quiet
- Hanns (7/5): Good -
- Shirley (1/5): Terrible - Poorest communication, dirty, the weirdest accomodation ever. Definitely needs to be removed from booking.com. Not at all to standard by any means. The whole layout especially the so called private bathroom which felt as though I was in a 3rd world country.
- Matthew (1/5): Bad - Nothing, did not even enter the room. Bed not made, pillows on floor. No bathroom. Disgusting Everything
- Wayne (1/5): Bad -
- Tanya (8/5): Once I recovered from the shock of finding myself in such a quaint place, I enjoyed the quietness. - There was no breakfast. The location was great. The bus stop to Airlie beach bus line was a short walk away. I really appreciated the gentle morning light that was filtered by banana leaves. At no time did the room get bright sunlight, located as it was under an Old Queenslander in a tropical garden. The owner did not contact me at all. I made the phone calls. There was no breakfast. The small kitchen area had 2 bowls 2 cups 2 plates & cutlery. An electric hot water jug, a toaster, a sandwich maker & a microwave. & a small refrigerator. The bench area was minimal. There was room to extend the bench top above the rubbish bin. Tea bags & coffee were supplied.
The light above the kitchen area was not attached to mains. A towel rail on the dry side of the bathroom door would be useful.
- Lauren (5/5): Would not recommend based on attempts to resolve issues from Owner/s. - I booked this room on behalf of my father. Communication from the owner prior to arrival was prompt and polite. We booked this room because as a previous local, I knew the location of the house is central in Cannonvale, a short walking distance to the shopping centre & Cannonvale Beach for a leisurely beach stroll and public transport. Upon arrival approx 4.30pm, we called the contact number due to a couple of issues with the room, who was out of state and not available. They had someone else phone me to address the issues, however they weren't available to come to site so they said that they would send a family member to attend to the room.
After a very long day of travel, my father fell asleep waiting to someone to attend to the issues at hand.
On arrival to the room:
- there was half a roll of toilet paper in toilet, nothing else
- no bath towels
- the blinds on the window appeared broken
- no tv remote and tv not working
The following day, I called back the second person to advise the issues still weren't fixed:
- someone came to 'fix the tv', but told my father that someone must have stolen the set top box, so went and fetched a 'spare one' from somewhere.
- he tried to fix the tv issue, but obviously when he was pulling the tv away from the wall to connect the set top box, it somehow cracked/broke the screen/or otherwise, and left green marks all down the tv
- the tv volume was stuck on 100
- I texted the second contact person and they offered to replace the whole thing, however my father didn't want to be inconvenienced for a third time.
In addition:
- The outdoor area leading from the gravel driveway around to the units, is really also quite dark at night, you cannot see without a torch - even the phone torch struggles. Very much a safety issue.
As advertised in the room, there were also none of the following items in the room:
- patio, washing machine, kitchen, mosquito net, bbq, outdoor furniture and dining area, drying rack, hand sanitiser
I asked to discuss some sort of compensation for the inconveniences & misleading facts about the property & the response I received, was, in short - "Your request for compensation on the basis of inaccurate and misleading statements is not something we will entertain".
- Reece (7/5): Good -
- Janet (3/5): I've stayed in creek huts with neater facilities. Very disappointing for $140 a night - Very comfy bed and good parking area. The portable air-conditioning worked well. The open air shower. The toilet, living area and kitchen area are all open and not able to be locked up. Fortunately didn't use cooking facilities as they looked rough and so did the carpentry and electrical wiring in places.
- Eli (7/5): Good -
- Ali (7/5): Good -
- Antoine (8/5): Very good -
- Simon (1/5): Total disregard for the paying tenants who run the place live upstairs and stomped around - A full refund would be the only awnser
- Peter (4/5): Disappointed with facilities - Location ok bed aright Tv not working no remote, toilet configuration
- Aaron (1/5): Horrible place and infested with animals and owner is not kind and good person , very unprofessional and not caring abo - Nothing , the property was almost like falling apart and everything is done very dodgy I didn’t felt safe staying here , there was a big spider and 3-4 lizards just crawling back and forth and making loud sounds , the place has a lot of holes in the walls where insects and animals keep coming inside the house , a big spider was on shelve , we ended up leaving as didn’t felt safe staying in that house and owner refused to give refund . Would not recommend anyone staying there , unless you are happy to sleep with animals crawling around you .
Garden was not kept neat , everything was overgrown , too many spider webs , leaves everywhere , everything was in bad state . Will not recommend anyone staying here I ended up sleeping the in car instead as that felt my only option .
- Nawai (7/5): I will definitely come back for acstay - I love the place where it is located The bathroom rather, cud it be more privacy plis
- Anita (10/5): Exceptional - The outside kitchen and the shower 😍
- Alberto (8/5): good value for the money, quiet and comfortable room - Nice cozy apartment, near Airlie Beach, we stayed just for one night, but we would have loved to stay longer. Quiet and clean room, free parking right outside of the house,. tv wasn't working but we didn't worry too much about that
- Lingxi (8/5): Very good -
- Karis (10/5): Perfect - This property was lovely! The staff amazing too
- Price (7/5): Good - Really cool place. Amazing what he has made there. Amazing value for money Black dirt inside the kettle and the odd few cobwebs
- Helen (5/5): Despite the unusual, eccentric nature of the property, we enjoyed our stay at Hidden Garden. - Rustic/Eco/Recycle/Reuse feel to the whole place. Bedroom inside, the rest comprised an outside living space. The feel was similar to a camping experience. Hidden garden was advertised with a TV and washing machine. We stayed in unit 2. The TV didn’t work, the Washing machine was non existent. (There was a commercial laundrette across the road). The air conditioning unit in the bedroom is very loud, however we managed to sleep. There were no cleaning materials for dishes etc in the outside kitchen and the kitchen utensils were limited compared to other rented properties.
- Roderick (7/5): It's ok and I slept well. While the room layout is innovative it is not really to my personal taste. - Great location near the beach. There is some road noise at busy times and no window to look out of the room. Aircon is very loud and not that efficient.
- Sasha (9/5): Awesome -
- Zoe (9/5): NICEE - We stayed here for a little week and we were delighted! The setting is super cute, the owner did it alone and we feel at home! The owner does not step aside and takes the time to talk to us! In short, I recommend with your eyes closed! Thank you again for this stay ❤️
- Kylie (4/5): I was disappointed at the lack of care taken - I liked the location and the layout of the accommodation That the cookware was unusable- the fry pans were all very old with the non stick Teflon peeling off. I was unable to cook the food we had bought with us and had to buy takeaway for dinner ( after a late check in) and breakfast which was an unexpected expense. Under the sink were dirty tea towels and used dish cloths that had not been replaced so I was unable to wash any dishes and containers I had for myself. I think if you offer kitchen facilities, you need to make sure the cookware is safe and usable.
- Juan (8/5): Very good -
- Jack (9/5): Simple affordable room with a great cabin/rainforest vibe - I booked a lovely, affordable, and quiet room here for about a week and really enjoyed my time. The room is simple but comfy and complete, and the house and facilities have a lovely eco vibe to them. The nearby beach is a short walk away and lovely during the late afternoon. Cannonvale can be a bit quiet, the buses don't run very often, and Uber coverage can be spotty. Plan to walk into Airlie Beach or BYO transport.
- Glenn (10/5): Exceptional - Convenient for flying in late and on the bus route. Great for a couple to escape the fast pace of Airlie Beach indoor outdoor living Nothing
- Telina (7/5): Good -
- Lawrence (7/5): Good - For one night OK
- Jacqueline (10/5): Pleasant, comfortable - Rustic appeal Poor security if ventilated
- Melissa (8/5): Very good -
- Stui (10/5): Exceptional -
- Keenan (10/5): Relaxed and calm - A very relaxed environment, well setup for everyone to enjoy
- Lynette (3/5): Not what we expected - Not a lot Very poor, bed not good. Very worrying electrical wiring. Outside shower and toilet very poor.
- Damien (10/5): Gorgeous property surrounded by nature, shower was beautiful and the room was clean -
- Graveley (9/5): Superb - It was a very nice indoor outdoor style, which was great, very relaxing and peaceful sitting in the nice front garden. The owner was welcoming and friendly.we will be happy to stay again on our next trip. Just one thing no tea or coffee to enjoy in the morning.
- Alexander (10/5): Exceptional - I'd absolutely recommend staying here!
Hidden garden is fantastically located. The beach, shops and restaurants are a couple of minutes away on foot, with plenty of good food options. The bus to Airlie beach stops right out the front.
The room itself is well furnished and steps out into a shady garden. I had an excellent night's sleep and a great shower too. Experienced all the joys of the region without being kept awake by the rowdy backpackers in town. Ouzi the owner is also a cool dude. 100% recommend!
- Layne (1/5): Gave booking to someone else - Nothing Nothing
- Emmanuel (6/5): Pleasant - Room was fine and bed pretty comfy. You could hear absolutely everything happening in the adjacent room. The garden looks nothing like the pictures. It needs a proper refresh. Toilets and showers next to each other are weird but actually work. Mosquitoes squished on the wall, outdoors are could do with a clean up. Pans in the kitchen need to be changed. For 140$, you would expect something better.
- Ingrid (3/5): Rustic accomodation next level with several issues which need addressing. It was a frustrating stay and unfortunately wa - The parking was spacious. The shower was hot and with good pressure. There was coffee and tea bags supplied but no milk. There was a working bar fridge. There was a microwave and single cooktop which I didn’t use. It was difficult to find/locate the property as it was not numbered and situated behind a group of commercial shops and on a main road. It was initially difficult to communicate with the owner but later I was able to sms messages which were responded to. The fans either went super slow or full blast ( perhaps they need new controllers??) the smoke alarm was activated when I toasted a piece of toast ( did not burn it!)and continued to alarm for the next two hours despite openings the window fully and both fans going full blast and front door open! There was no visible make whatsoever. The guests next door tried to deactivate the alarm for me but had to call the owner as it was alarming every few minutes. The son ended up resolving the problem by removing it. There was a tv but no remote, so had to request. Tv was an old style set top box which I found difficult to turn on and navigate. I gave up. The kitchen sponge was well over due for a change and no t towel was provided. The only window in the room had no insect screens and was not lockable, it was simply push out 🤪. It was noisey from street traffic noise as well as music from accomodation upstairs the property outside was messy and unkept.
- Milaka (4/5): Misleading with Rustic on the driveway board and Hidden Garden in the website. - Check in time was confusing and it was the time we were returning from Proserpine Hospital (11pm) It was so cold and when we approached the driveway it had Rustic sign on it and the whole compound was dark. We then had to go and pay a higher rate elsewhere to sleep for the night with my partner who was unwell.
- Laurena (10/5): Exceptional - I recently stayed in this apartment, and I must say that my experience was verry good. This accomodation is verry confortable, clean, and very well located. The owner was extremely welcoming and friendly, which greatly contributed to making my stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for accommodation in Airlie Beach. A big thank you for a perfect stay! Nothing
- Lynda (9/5): Clean & comfy, eclectic upcycled furnishings. Great value 😊 - Clean & comfortable with eclectic furnishings
