Guest Reviews
- Andrew (10/5): 10 out of 10. Would definitely book again. - Everything was excellent, didn’t find anything to complain about. The property was well equipped with everything you needed.
- Mark (10/5): Fantastic apartment, great value for money. - Location, views, spaciousness, comfort. A decent coffee machine (as opposed to a cafetière) would have been a nice touch. The standalone loo didn’t flush well.
- Rodney (7/5): Time, love, and attention. - Great location, right on the quay.
Ate breakfast every day standing at the lounge window watching the world pass by. Despite location being on one of the main roads around Appledore, it was very quiet . Very spacious property, larger in area than expected. Having to crouch down , on a rainy late afternoon, halfway down a dark damp side alley to the property, by the bins, to access the key lockbox . Not an ideal start.
As other guests have said, the entrance hallway and staircase ascending the property really could do with a coat of paint, and a spruce up.
On entering the property initial thoughts were good, ,warm ,spacious ,and clean.
Only after a much needed coffee, after a three hour drive down, did you begin to look a bit closer. Kitchen worktops could do with being stripped back , and re sealed. Numerous areas where holes and knocks in the plaster have plugged and painted over, without sanding back, in the case of the second bedroom not filled or painted. Area of flaking paint, and or plaster by the lounge window. Unpainted area and flaking plaster in front bedroom between the built in wardrobe and window. Opening the door to the en-suite of the front bedroom, the first thing you noticed was the amount of peeling paint on the main wall, behind the door, by the sink and one very noticeable patch over the end of the bath. Perhaps the building has a problem with water ingress on this wall. Secondly was the black mould and dirt forming in , and around the silicone the shower tray. No extractor fan either, this could be the reason for black mould beginning to form on the wooden window frame of the bathroom, and having to climb into the bath if you wanted to open it.
During one heavy downpour an obviously blocked gutter over the kitchen window was noticeable. A water feature that no property needs, or the properties under. Looking for any other gutter blockages I noticed a cracked windowpane that had been sellotaped over.
With a bit of time, love, attention, and money spent, this could be a really really nice property.
- Sally (10/5): Perfect location with amazing views - Location was excellent with a lovely view over the estuary. Views at the front of the property were amazing, especially at high tide. Facilities were very good with nice touches left such as milk, tea, coffee, washing up liquid, laundry tabs. Very nicely furnished. Two flights of winding stairs to second floor, but the views were then great. Communal hall/stairs area could have done with a clean and decoration. Parking was tricky but we usually found free street parking along the quay within a few minutes. Recommended car park is quite a walk up a hill so better to be patient and wait for a space in the road.
- Sharon (9/5): A gem of a place with incredible views. - Beautiful decor, super comfy, homely and stylish with everything you could wish for, a view to die for,2hich we missed when we got home. What a gem of a place.
- Paul (9/5): Superb - Excellent location situated right on the quay. Great views. Spacious accommodation and generally well equipped Tight staircase access. Shelves should be provided in the showers.
- Gareth (10/5): A comfortable, light and a spacious property with stunning views. -
