Guest Reviews
- Wei (8/5): Very good - Silent, friendly staff, You can purchase bus tickets here with reasonable price very hot in the room and they only have a very small fan. a bit bad smell in bathroom.
- Wei (9/5): Superb -
- Davide (10/5): Lovely family stay - We had a lucky a room in the terrace with a lot of light and ventilation.
Other rooms are little bit worse, especially the ones in the ground floor.
Kitchen is well-equipped and clean.
Actually, everything is really clean and you can see the family always cleaning.
We did the Acatenango tour through them and they allow us to keep the luggage and have a shower Position is not really central, but it can be a pro for somebody
- Tove (9/5): Superb - The view from the terrace was beautiful. Nice location, a short walk from the market. Nothing.
- Cora (9/5): Welcoming and characterful - This hostel is in a beautiful building with characterful design. The staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful. The rooftop terrace is a lovely place to relax. The location is a little far from town, but there are food places nearby.
- Agata (10/5): Exceptional -
- April (7/5): Good location, Murohy was friendly. Thw showers, toilets and kitchen were clean: The bedspreads were not clean and our - Our son got an electrical shock in the upstairs left side shower…extremely dangerous. We were told we could leave our bags at 9. We happened to arrive at 8 and waited until 9:30 to leave bags. Im pretty sure the bedspreads had not been washed. There were kids running up and down the hall and playing with a loud toy outside our open window last night.
Murphy was very friendly. The showers and toilets were clean.
- Naomi (10/5): Good value for money :) - The location and that everything you needed was there. Clean kitchen :) Nothing
- Larissa (7/5): Good - After the Acatenango Hike we came back to this accomodation. Unfortunately we got an other room. The room at the Rooftop was really loud because of the street and you could hear everything from the shared bathroom next to it, because there was only a locked door in between. Nothing you want to hear from other people…
The kitchen and the rooftop were quite nice.
- Larissa (9/5): Superb - One bed was really good, the other one was a bit too soft. It was clean and quiet. The kitchen was well equipped and we got purified water. There was a roof top, where we could see the Vulcanos in the morning.
We booked the Acatenango tour with them and it was really cheap (275 Q +100Q Entry) and quite good. (But maybe we were just lucky with our group.)
It’s not in the city Center, so you have to walk 15 min to the main attractions and the market/ bigger supermarket.
- Alexandra (9/5): Superb -
- Naomi (7/5): Perfect money quality value, clean property in Antigua. - Very good value for the price! Nice rooftop terrace en private rooms. Great kitchen One of the showers gave me a small electric shock, en the staff wasn’t around most of the time, making it hard to ask things to them when you needed them
- Katie (8/5): Lovely quiet, friendly stay. - Staff were really helpful. The terrace was really nice to sit and relax and watch the sunset. The laundry was great value. Alittle bit from the centre but that had benefits too. The pool was unusable and the doors could use something to seal them as insects, especially ants could get in
- Linda (6/5): You can - Friendly staff, clean kitchen, nice rooftop My room had no window and the room smelled stale. Room was also directly connected to the kitchen, so very noisy. The kocation is a bit far out of town, that is ok, only the street to get there is a bit abandoned during the night
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional - Best budget room that we found during 5 weeks of backpacking in Guatemala. We stayed here a second time before hiking Acatenango. Rooms were very quiet (no street noise, dogs, roosters). Other guests were very quiet and respectful. This was one of the least expensive rooms we found during our whole trip, and we got better sleep here than at other places which were more than double the cost. We were able to get 2 twin beds for roughly the same cost as a double bed (which we need to sleep well). Staff were friendly and helpful, beds were comfortable and clean, fans worked well, shared kitchen was available. Nada
- Thomas (6/5): Good place to stay, but avoid their activities - Large rooms, with comfortable beds.
Upper terrace with beautiful views.
Kitchen well equipped, with filtered water available.
Showers and bathrooms clean. We had a very sour experience after booking a trip to Pacaya Volcano through them.
The plan was to leave by 2pm to the Volcano, spend an hour or two at the top, and see the sunset. Unfortunately the agency had a problem with one of the vans, and they sent a small car instead. The car arrived super late, around 3.46pm, and there were 4 people inside already. The hostel barely communicated with us during our wait.
In total we were 6 people in that tiny car, with people sitting on top of each other. The ride was 1h30 to the volcano. Not only would it have been unbearable to get there, but we had already lost the entire point of the experience by missing the sunset and time on the top.
When I tried talking to the agency and our hostel, they were hard to reach. Once I did reach the agency, they agreed to refund us the money we had paid, but still let us continue with the tour, if we could endure it. However, they told us we would have to get the refund from the Hostel, because they were the ones we had paid to.
Once I reached the Hostel personnel Heidi, she was extremely dismissive and disrespectful to us. She told us we would not get a full refund, and was dodging the question of the refund if we stayed with the tour. We felt sort of hostage of the situation, as they told us we could exit the car if we wanted, but essentially telling us they would leave us stranded and it would be up to us to find our way back (we had left some 20min ago already in hopes they would maybe send another car or contact us about rescheduling another tour). So it was either stop there and be on your own, or continue with the tour and just take it. After long discussion over the phone with her she eventually and reluctantly said they would do “something” to help us get home, but nothing clear or reliable. I certainly wasn’t going to put my faith on them at that point.
In the end, luckily, everyone in the car cancelled the tour and so everyone was driven back by the driver.
- Ariel (7/5): A good option in Antigua for a reasonable price - Comfortable bed. Clean room. Hot water in the shower. Last time we stayed we had a better room. This time we had an attached bathroom and it smelled bed + the toilet was leaking.
- Simon (8/5): Very good -
- Ravina (8/5): Very good - Very clean. Nice ambience. Lots of tour options with the hotel. No clocks in the hotel. It is also a bit far to walk to the main attractions in Antigua. This can be an issue especially in the night as a solo female traveler so I had to get back at the hotel early most times as tuktuks were a bit expensive to get there.
- Chung (8/5): Very good - The staff there are very nice and helpful. The property is clean and not too far from the center. There is a big kitchen which is also very useful. Good value for money. No windows in the room and given there are no airconditiong, the air circulation is not good.
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional - Best price in Antigua for è what you get.
Kitchen is very furnished and create a nice atmosphere at dinner time.
The owners are AMAZING!! Always happy to help if you need something.
- Ariel (9/5): Good value for money. Clean. A little far from the center. -
- Simon (8/5): Very good -
- Kerry (8/5): Cheap stay with great staff - We only booked this place as a room to use from 1pm to 8pm when we left for the airport and it was incredibly cheap. The staff were so helpful, they booked a reasonable priced taxi, allowed us to check in early at 1pm rather than the standard time of 3pm.
I only didn't score it higher as we didn't actually stay there. We didn't use the shower which didn't look good and was already leaking. The 'pool' isn't really usable....
- Julie (5/5): Okay for a few nights - Good value for money and nice rooftop terrace Our room on the ground floor did not have any windows, it was very stuffy with no way to air it out and loud as it was right across the reception.
- Oliver (9/5): Superb -
- Aigas (9/5): Superb - Good location, very friendly and kind staff - they organized a transfer for us and made a very tasty breakfast, hotel with a character. Muchas gracias! All good
- Lizette (9/5): Superb -
- Chiroy (9/5): Superb -
- Ryan (9/5): Superb - Super affordable and location was decent. Room was basic but was clean and the host family there were super friendly even with our bad Spanish. Nothing, literally can’t complain for the price.
- Ana (9/5): Superb -
- Renunciamos (8/5): Very good -
- Anton (6/5): Acceptable stay for one night - + Room was clean
+ Very friendly hosts
+ Close to city centre
+ Very cheap I don't expect a lot for that price, but there are some minimum requirements, which need to be fulfilled.
- Shower was cold
- There were 2 toilets and not even on one was toilet paper on the next day in the morning
- Shared showers/toilets are clean, but far too small
- Most of the rooms have no windows
- David (8/5): Pleasant stay in a unique city. - The third floor has some beautiful views of the surrounding mountains. A fan was available and I used it every night. My room didn’t have a bathroom, as I expected, but there were two bathrooms available down the hall and at least one was always available WH I wish there had been a place to hang my clothes. The sheets kept slipping off the mattress. Maybe they should be pinned to the mattress. Overall I’m pleased with the value.
- Shaka (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aleksandar (10/5): Would definitely stay again, great value for money - Great location, 10-15 mins walk to the centre, yet very quiet at night
The tours and shuttles are the best price we’ve found after comparing many tour agencies
Nice rooftop area with a great view
The girl who runs it is very friendly and helpful
Very good price for what you get No windows to the outside to let light in or ventilate. A fan in the bedroom would’ve been good
- Pádraig (6/5): Good but could be great - The staff were very friendly.
Kitchen was great.
Balcony had beautiful views.
Tours and additional activities were excellent. Unfortunately our double room had a damp ceiling and no windows for ventilation. This resulted in a muggy atmosphere and weird smell that made time in the room quite uncomfortable. If this issue is resolved the place would be excellent overall. This issue may not impact all rooms.
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional - They were so friendly Nothing to comment
- Tanya (10/5): Great value for money, feels very local and warming. Loved the terrace looking at The volcans - Very friendly family, great value for money. We went to the Spanish school just around the corner so very convenient. The market is also just a 5 min walk away. Pool was fun for the kids The room doesn’t have any windows so can be a bit stuffy
- Jaffar (10/5): Exceptional -
- גנות (7/5): Good - The host was very nice, helped us with every problem with our room. Very nice value for money. Booked shuttle with them too small room, a bit far from everything
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paulina (9/5): Superb - The family that runs the hostel is really nice! Great view from the rooftop terrace. The rooms get a bit hot and stuffy because there is no real window.
- Zephyr (8/5): Very good - Beautiful rooftop with a little pool and great vibes It was a little bit of a walk (20ish minutes) from a lot of the markets and monuments.
- Eric (8/5): Very good -
- Gabriel (10/5): I will be back - It was nice to be there.
Was the best of time.
Great time.
Family was happy with the service and people around the erea.
Good services love it
- Tristan (8/5): Very good - Good staff. Nice terrace. Good wifi. Good breakfast. The shared bathroom is in your little cabin on the roof. Other guests come into your cabin kinda to use the bathroom.... Difficult to describe but its odd.
- Jonas (8/5): Would book again - Nice view from the terrace! The woman working there was super nice and helpful You can hear everything from the street. We didn’t get much sleep because of that, but you get use to it
- Graeme (9/5): Very comfortable place to stay, great value. - Very comfortable beds, lovely roof terrace, well-stocked kitchen. Nothing we didn’t like. It could do with more of an indoor common area, but the roof terrace makes up for that!
- Jana (5/5): Passable - The owner was really nice and helpfull! Our room didnt have a window.
- Wellington (7/5): Okay - Nice terrasse with a view of the volcanoes. At night you can even see the Fuego volcano erupting from the distance. Loud. The staff lives in a room behind the kitchen with their children, so kids will be running and making noise in the hallway, which is annoying in the morning and if you take a nap during the day. Dont take the bedroom with the private bathroom on the second floor, the bed is not even 1 meter away from the shared bathroom outside and people will definitely wake you up everytime they use it.
- Aleksandar (8/5): Very good -
- Isara (8/5): Very good - Really nice roof terrace area to view the volcanos and city. We had a private room with a bathroom, which was quite small but clean & comfortable. The WiFi worked well & the location was good, only a short walk to the main attractions in town. Good value for money. There was a shower/communal bathroom outside our room, which was pretty noisy at times. Also there are two windows in the bedroom and the light from the terrace & the hall would shine into the room. Since the curtains are so thin we used our own towels to cover the windows to reduce the amount of light..
- Christakis (7/5): Good enough for one night, if you only need a bed to sleep. - Friendly staff The room for 4 persons was tiny. No space to move around.
Arrived very early in the morning and wanted to sleep longer, but pretty noisy with kids running around in the hotel corridor.
No signage outside saying “Jireh” so we had a hard time finding the place.
- Ledlon (8/5): Very good - Very friendly staff. Laundry service very good and cheap. A lot of space. Well equipped kitchen. Had our own bathroom. Nice rooftop to have breakfast in the sun and watch sunset. Was a bit cold at night. Water in the shower was sometimes warm sometimes not. Water tap in the bathroom did not work sometimes.
