Guest Reviews
- Alejandro (10/5): - La amabilidad del personal
- Ben (9/5): Superb -
- Wim (10/5): Exceptional - The host was very nice and helpful. She arranged tours for us. She also gave us a tour on the trail next to drake bay. The coast line is very beautiful! Thank you for everything, Kora!
- Dagmar (9/5): Superb - Fania and her family are very friendly and helpful. Fania was at the beach when we arrived from Sierpe. The location is close to the beach but quiet and accommodation well equipped and comfortable.
- Jan (8/5): Very good - Nice place with a caring host. Clean. Shared bathroom and kitchen.
- Izzy (10/5): Exceptional - very close to the beach, the staff were incredibly helpful with organising reservations with the boat to and from Drake bay, collecting us from the beach and helping to organise a tour. (special thanks for the bananas and banana bread!)
- Mathilde (6/5): Night in Drake Bay - Close to the center and the restaurants. Quiet place. Rooms are large and beds comfortable 1 bathroom (toilets included) for 4 rooms, when is full you can wait a lot before using it. No hot water. Shower not very clean (probably depending of the person before). Room are relatively clean, a mosquito net directly on the window would be nice.
- Peter (9/5): Superb - It's quite central. Owners live also on the property and are very kind. It's not spot clean, could use a new paint and there is no sign on the fence so you have to probably ask neighbours. It's alright, as expected. It's fair for the price
- Birgit (7/5): Really worth to stay in Betania - Caring Host, we could leave our luggage during the overnight trip to corcovado
Coffee was also available for us
- Zac (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely staff, amazing place, beautiful birds everywhere. Struggled to find this with the map after a long day. Luckily the locals helped us out.
- Anna (10/5): Easy great stay - Great house with well stocked kitchen! Good locations and very accomodating owners!
- Chiara (10/5): Exceptional - We stayed 2 nights at Betania's. We had an amazing stay. Betania is a very nice and entertaining lady. She waited for us at the beach where our boat arrived and walked us to the guesthouse. The house is 5 minutes from the beach by foot and is surrounded by lush nature. The house is very clean, by high standards. There is a kitchen equipped with everything you can possibly need, which is really handy for a short stay. Betania was very helpful in planning our stay, and before we left she also invited us for some fresh coconut and fruits from her garden, where we had a great chat about life in Bahia Drake and her family's way of life. Highly recommended stay.
Muchas gracias Betania!
- Marina (8/5): Very good -
- Jennie (10/5): Best place we stayed at in CR - This house is a real gem! We definitely recommend anyone to stay here...the family were so kind to us.
The 4 rooms , bathroom & kitchen very kept really clean and it was so nice to relax in the outside area and watch the birds each day.
The family really know how to look after you... Nothing all perfect
- Arpad (9/5): Lovely family run guesthouse - The kitchen was well equipped. There was a nice little porch to sit outside. Comfortable bed and pillows. Hangers and shelves to unpack. Mosquito nets on the windows would be a big improvement. There was a net above the bed but a bit worn already.
- Ivan (9/5): Superb -
- Ag_lt (10/5): Good place, good location, nice experience to stay at the locals. - We liked the place. Simple, but for the given price - what else should be expected. The owner, Betania, and all her family, are very nice and extremely helpful, smiling people The Drake town itself - amazing place to relax, would stay there for much more days.
- Oriol (8/5): Very good - The kitchen was good. They include oil, salt and coffee which is nice. Also filtered water to refill.
Staff is friendly and they pick you up from the boat. Maybe a bit more cutlery
- Ran (8/5): A very good place with great family. - A very good place in drake bay. The family who owned this hotel are such a great and nice people. They helped with everything I needed . The mother also waited for me to come with the boat from sierpe and took me to the hotel .
Tha location is perfect - 5 min walk from everything- restaurants and supermarket, and 10 min walk from the beach . The only reason I don't give a 10 points is that there is no Air-Conditioner. In a very very hot place like drake bay, a air conditioner is a must. A fan is just not enough.
It can be a real suffer the hot in drake bay, and also in the room without air conditioner.
- Byron (6/5): Pleasant -
- Esther (9/5): Perfect! - Very clean! Super friendly host who helped mee book te boot from Sierpe. On arrival they were waiting for me with a sign. House is basic but perfect for a short trip to Drake Bay.
- Ivan (9/5): Great location just off the main commercial street, but very quiet. Rooms were fine, with a fan. Kitchen and dining area - Location, facilities
- Sander (10/5): Lovely little place in beautiful Drake Bay. - Lovely little place in beautiful Drake Bay. Run by a lovely family who really looked after us. There are only 4 rooms in the house which makes it homely and relaxed. The place is not luxurious but well equipped for a few nights stay. We enjoyed a day in the national park and went hiking another day along the coast (recommend). Would come back here!
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional - Comfortable room, amazing people who host it and really good location. A really nice place to stay. Daniel is an amazing guy and will really look after you!
- Kristin (10/5): Exceptional - Kind, thoughtful and helpful family that hosts your stay; really nice that they provided drinking water for the guests to use; location is at the center of town and walkable; Nice common space in the center of the house to eat or talk to other guests and on the front porch.
I stayed for 5 nights, left for an overnight Corcovado tour, and came back for a last night before I left Drake Bay. I enjoyed my time here!
- Beckie (8/5): Very good -
- Paurosci (9/5): Superb -
- Katherine (10/5): Exceptional - Great location and very comfortable with good facilities for cooking. The family who own the house are lovely and helpful. Thank you!!

- Irene (10/5): Exceptional - Great spot in the village! Super nice hosts, they even offered us some local treats, gave us tips on where to buy what we needed, booked the boat transfer for us and picked us up on the bay upon arrival. We really enjoyed our stay here!
- Mathilde (8/5): Very good - Very conveniently located and cute in place to stay in Drake! Daniel was really accommodating and helpful.
- Jonas (7/5): Perfect location to enjoy Drake Bay - Perfect location The bed was a bit hard for my back. But nonetheless, great silent nights.
- Marius (8/5): Very good -
- José (8/5): Very good -
- Bram (10/5): Exceptional - Incredibly friendly owners. They picked us up from the boat landing and helped us book onwards travel to Sierpe. Laundry services are also available, which is nice.
- Laura (10/5): Super friendly hosts and cute, comfortable accommodation. - The hosts were very welcoming and friendly.
They had a home made lemonade prepared for us when we arrived. Also, they would bring us food to taste - it was soo good! Bananas from their garden and a home made red velvet cake!
The room was equipped with everything we needed. No AC, but the fan was enough.
Also, there was a kitchen we could use which was very helpful for us.
All in all we an highly recommend this accommodation and would definitely book again!
- Lennart (9/5): Extremely nice hosts and rustic but recommendable room - + Very good location
+ Extremely nice hosts; everything was easy and they were just nice people, bringing food and coffee for free regularly
+ Has a kitchen
+ Quite spacious - A bit basic but for the price definitely worth it
- Nothing negative concerning the room but buy a mosquito thing for the plug in the local supermarket; it is the easiest solution against mosquitos
- Carryn (10/5): Great value for money - Great value for money and perfect location. Just a short walk from the beach, restaurants and shops. big, comfortable room with fan. Karol and her family are great hosts!
- Kolja (10/5): The family made the stay just amazing - The hosts were very friendly. They helped us with all the questions we had and in the morning we could see a lot of different birds from the terrace. Its a family run business, the owner is lovely tia Fenia who warmed our hearts every day. The niece Caro supported her with everything, especially because she spoke English fluently. Caro was just amazing and we had a lot of fun with her. Thanks for the amazing stay, where we went on hikes and enjoyed the place a lot. I wish we could have stayed longer. We will definetly come back one day, because there is just so much to do and explore in this area.
