Guest Reviews
- Stephen (9/5): Host most welcoming amd the property more than adequate. - LITTLE SOUTH OF fARNHAM but there's parking there and the two bedroo, one living room was more than adequate.
- Read (10/5): -
- Natasha (8/5): Perfect location for a relaxing stay - Great location. Lovely and clean. Perfect for exploring or just relaxing.
- Darren (9/5): - Very peaceful after long day at work
Hosts Very helpful
- Eleanor (9/5): Lovely weekend stay in a great location for Farnham and Alice Holt Forest - Nice amount of space, bright and airy and well located for all the things we wanted to do. Nothing that I would say dislike but a stronger shower would be a bonus.
- Justin (8/5): Very well maintained lodge ideally situated in Farnham. - Host very friendly. Great lodge. Extractor fan not working in bathroom.
- Lucas (10/5): -
- Zoe (10/5): Lovely little rural site - Fabulous site, great communication with owner, worth every penny, would absolutely stay again if in the area No hot water in shower but didn’t affect anything just went old school and washed at the sink
- Izabela (9/5): Beautiful surroundings - Vicky was a super host and the lodge is lovely with everything one needs Would be nice to have a sign pointing to the lodge as phone signal is limited
- Melanie (9/5): Perfect for our needs. - The location was peaceful with a great pub near. The road near is quite busy for walking into Farnham. This in no way affected our stay.
- Samantha (10/5): Very good stay - It was quiet and calming
- Natalie (10/5): - Spacious
Beautiful setting
Clean, light and airy
- Tom (8/5): - The host was very attentive in the build up to our stay and very helpful with arrangements. The place itself was lovely - clean, well kept and with everything we needed.
- Andrew (9/5): Very pleasant couple of nights, would highly recommend. - Great location, very friendly and helpful host comfortable and clean.
- Tammy (8/5): Super quiet location - The Lodge was spotlessly clean, lovely quiet location only 21 minutes drive from lakeside. The host was extremely friendly and polite . Super quiet location The walk up to the lodge was extremely dangerous and slippy due to rain. I feel there could have been put sand down to help feet to grip on the steep incline. No hand rail so again not for anyone who has mobility issues ( like myself) I struggled getting up and down ro the lodge having to hold onto my son to prevent falling. Also the evening lighting up to the lodge does not cover the whole path, having to use my torch on my phone to guide me. The heaters in the lodge were also not sufficient for the winter months or we couldn't work out how to operate them ??? The postcode for the property is also very misleading as it tooke me around 3-4 miles in the opposite direction. The main house name would have been very helpful when using a google sat nav. Overall a lovely stay.
- Fateh ud (8/5): - Path to the lodge is bit tricky to find but the host was very helpful on the phone.
- Katie (8/5): A very pleasant overnight stay in a great location! - It was spacious, warm and inviting. We liked the woodland location and surrounding area to explore. It had comfy beds, plenty of towels and great facilities. Great value for money for a family of four. It could do with a frying pan, also the path up and down to lodge was rather slippery, because of leaf fall and it being a slope rather than steps. Other than that it was great.
- Spraggon (10/5): -
- Charles (9/5): -
- Leah (10/5): Great, would stay again - Nice and private Toilet leaked and would of been helpful to have showed gel in shower
- yvonne (10/5): -
- Joel (8/5): Lovely place - Lovely place,we just find it hard to locate the parking since we also arrived a bit late at night so its dark. No water in the shower
- David (9/5): -
- Ihor Zombor (10/5): -
- Mike (7/5): sufficed -
- Shelby (6/5): Really nice area and host was very nice. The lodge itself was clean and spacious. Just a few things need sorting and it - Nice area. Host was very friendly. Good value for money. The shower head was broken and spilling water out of the sides. The toaster plug was also broken and was showing the inside wires. We also found the beds uncomfortable but that might be down to personal preference . The beds could do with some new pillows as they were very flat.
- Penelope (10/5): - Clean and very comfortable beds, everything you need for a self catering stay
- Dina (10/5): -
- Sajjad (7/5): -
- Onal (4/5): Needs improvement - It's a nice quiet location. Parking , shower , needs improvement
- Victoria (9/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): Very comfortable stay in a great location - Great location for our event. Very comfortable and well equipped cabin. Excellent communication from the host.
- sonicmauro (9/5): -
- Harry (6/5): It was nice for the one night that we stayed - It was a lovely property for my little family. We enjoyed staying there. The owners were very friendly. The only issues we had was it wasn’t very clean, the floor was filthy in the bedroom with the twin beds and you could tell the beds haven’t been moved as there was rubbish and a pair of someone’s sunglasses underneath them.
- Dave (1/5): Bad approach path to property dont go - Nothing because we couldnt stay because the approach path was very steep unmade earth with stones roots and weather worn.
We are not frail or afriad of slopes but felt it was unsafe to go up and down especially carrying cases or supplys. We had to leave and find alternative accomadation at our own expence. This was not in the advert from Booking.com
We want a full refund. See above answer
- Stuart (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (10/5): Nice location, excellent facilities - Nice location, excellent facilities, excellent host
- Vittorio (8/5): Very good - Bed and towels The pressure of the water
The plug of the toaster was broken
One light bulb of the kitchen didn’t work
- Kate (8/5): Very good -
- Andy (6/5): Okay for a one night stay: the lodge is tired and needs some work to be done. - Location excellent, which is the reason we chose this property. Spacious and comfortable. Good kitchen area. Excellent wifi. Instructions on finding the property were good, although also giving the what3words app address would make it easier. As pointed out in numerous other reviews, the lodge is tired and needs some work done to bring it up to good/very good level. There were lots of little things such as mould in the bathroom, the bathroom fan not working, the loo seeming to leak water, missing smoke alarm in second bedroom (but there was another in the kitchen), toaster plug broken (and therefore dangerous), etc.
- Simon (7/5): Lovely little lodge - I loved the lodge and the decor inside and how modern it looked. Kitchen was fully kitted with everything you would need. Beds were comfy and spacious. Nice and quiet at night. Shower was nice and big and easy to walk into Couldn't find the house as there is a house few roads away with same name and sat nav took us there. There was no signal so couldn't use Internet to look at maps. Keys were not in key safe box and struggled to get hold of host due to signal. Path up to lodge is very very steep, narrow and overgrown. There is no lights up to the lodge when its dark only the light on side of lodge comes on when you reach it. Feel a wider path up to the lodge with wooden fence for you to hold onto would be great. The overgrown bushes need cutting back as i had to move several branches hanging in my way. Also lights up the slope would help you find your way in the dark as you are walking amongst trees. Feel the outside area could do with a bit of a maintenance just to make it more inviting.
- Marcus (9/5): All good thank you -
- Paul (8/5): Used as an over night during the King Alfred Way cycle route.. - Plenty of space inside, very quiet location The only bathroom was in one of the bedrooms, No Tea/Coffee milk available on arrival..
- Maddie (8/5): Very good -
- Steve (9/5): Superb -
- Jason (8/5): Very good -
- Tc (9/5): Superb - Great location ideally placed to serve those completing the now popular long distance King Alfred's Way Mountain Bike Route.
Just what we needed for our final night on the bikes.
We would also recommend The Spotted Cow pub which is just 400m down the road. Loved it all.
- Lee (9/5): Comfortable with all necessary facilities and peaceful location - Lovely quiet spot but not to far from local town
- Godfrey (9/5): Superb -
- Elizabeth (10/5): Great stay, would come again :) - Clean and comfortable :) Nothing
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Hill (6/5): Rustic and ok for 1 nighter. Needs a little tlc but would need more for us to stay longer. - Overall, a lovely, rustic and quirky property with comfortable beds, good kitchen space and we didn't mind the toilet facilities in second bedroom. There was a bit of dust, grime and cobwebs around and if we had stayed longer outside, would have been good to have clean cushions for the terrace furniture and a working bbq that wasn't rusted and broken. A hot tub would have been a bonus! Watch out when leaving windows and doors open for local nature visiting!! The blinds in the main bedroom didn't function properly, also the one bedside lamp was no use for reading, no shower gel but plenty of cleaning products and spare toilet roll. Extra towels and bedding available. Maybe some nice fluffy blankets and a larger sofa for families for chilling out time? And tvs would be an idea in bedrooms for those that prefer an earlier night alone? Nevertheless, a good 1 night stay with no complaints, just feedback that may be taken on board for future guests. If some of these are implemented, we may choose to stay again when visiting our family member in pirbright barracks. Thank you 😊
- Francine (9/5): Superb -
- Sally (9/5): Superb - The location was perfect to visit our son at University. Perfect location for a couple of nights stay. Shower/Hot water was difficult to work out, but we got there in the end. A 'How to' booklet would be great for the heating. hot water etc.
- Joanne (9/5): Superb - Lovely lodge, had everything we needed and Vicky was lovely and welcoming.
- Lily (10/5): Exceptional -
- Christopher (7/5): Lovely location which made our work trip more relaxing. - Lovely location and the accommodation was more than adequate for what we required.
Ideal base for our work trip
Found some very nice local pubs Water pressure for shower is quite low.
Would benefit from some softer lighting in rooms (lamps) and some simplified instructions on heaters etc although I'm quite certain had we experienced any difficulties help would have been promptly provided.
There were a few maintenance items but none that caused us any issues for our stay and the one we raised was addressed very quickly.
- Donna (8/5): A fab location with a lovely host. - Clean spacious cabin. Beautiful location. Nearby town centre was vibrant with lots of nice shops & eateries. No dislikes though a couple of things would be helpful.. bedside lamp in master bedroom would be useful. Struggled to get hot water in shower.
- Driss (9/5): Superb -
- Gemma (9/5): Would stay again. Good location & comfortable - Perfect location. Very friendly hosts. Comfortable lodge. Couldn’t understand how to use the heating but the lodge was warm so not overly a problem
- Claire (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lucky (8/5): The stay was pleasant - Quiet, neat and well maintained. The hot water in the shower was intermittently shifting between hot and cold which didn’t make having a shower pleasant.
Inadequate instructions on how best to operate or regulate the installed equipments like the hot water and heating controls. One had to figure things out on his/ her own.
- Steven (10/5): Amazing would recommend - It was located perfect to be secluded but also close enough if you require shops or anything I have zero issues with the place
- Natalie (9/5): Really lovely bolt hole close to Farnham, perfect for a few days stay - Very comfortable, well furnished, reasonably priced, great hosts, and warm even in the middle of winter - everything we needed for a couple of days! Would suggest a deeper clean (the bathroom and floors) and perhaps some newer towels - but very minor points
- Claire (8/5): Very good -
- Elizabeth (10/5): Relaxing! - Spacious and well equipped. All perfect!
- Harry (9/5): Superb -
- Mary (6/5): Pleasant - The forest area is beautiful, the husband was helpful with advice about heaters, and trying to get Netflix working. Their little boy was friendly. It was Halloween, so dad and he were decorating their driveway with giant pumpkins. Farnham was a nice village with a great place to get nails done for a wedding and grab coffee and breakfast. It's a £7 taxi from the station. Instructions to get there were a bit confusing. Unfortunately, the single beds were uncomfortable.
Having to go through a bedroom to the toilet was awkward for those using that room as no privacy. Nowhere to hang wet towels for 3 people. No hooks in rooms. There are no practical bedside lights. Coffee was empty, no milk, nothing to make you feel welcomed, no information book on area, some LEDS bot working, deck was slippery and unusable . Gutters full of grass, it just felt like unloved. I hate giving bad feedback, but people need to know what they are getting. Iron but no ironing board.
- Susan (4/5): All the above have been mentioned in previous comments but no action seems to have been taken. - A steep, muddy and untreated track up to the chalet which, if raining, would mean a treacherous descent, especially if struggling with luggage. There was no sort of curtain or blind on the wide glass patio door and neighbouring windows, leaving one feeling very exposed to the surrounding woodland which, with the lights on inside, was pitch black. The TV only played live TV, so very little viewing choice - some sort of property manual with instructions for use of TV, cooker , heating etc. would have been helpful. Leaking loo and mould in the bathroom.
- Carole (8/5): Great for a family break - Location, two bedrooms so perfect with the kids and have fridge/kettle etc Would be better if double bed with en-suite
- Jake (9/5): Really nice stay, perfect for what we needed and would happily stay there again. Thank you - Location was lovely. The host met us and took us to lodge. Really lovely and welcoming. Offered to help with anything we needed.
The lodge was lovely inside nice and clean, exactly how shown in photos. Good cooking facilities. TV with Netflix etc on.
The rooms were really good size and nice bathroom.
Nice and warm with access to heating whenever needed.
Nice decking also. The floor is a little creaky when walking.
In twin room one of the headboards is a little loose which makes a noise when you move.
- Nicola (8/5): Very good -
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional - Very spacious, had everything we needed for our visit. Vicky was lovely and helpful
Nice and private location, had the doors open most the time and no one over looking the lodge
Would definitely book again if we were in the area Maybe leave the WiFi password in the lodge, took a few attempts but managed to guess it. Not a massive deal though!
- Alex (7/5): Lovely location would recommend it but you need a car. - The lodge was lovely, it's a purpose built guest house beside the main house. A little strange that the bathroom was off the 2nd bedroom but other than that couldn't fault it. There's a nice outdoor area to sit. While it is only over a mile from the train station there is no path for most of the way, we had to taxi in and out of Farnham which was really annoying, But absolutely fine if you're driving.
- Simon (8/5): Very good -
- Sadna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nigel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rosemary (3/5): Not recommended - It was self-contained and clean. No milk in fridge on arrival. No hooks to hang things - especially in double bedroom. No furniture in double bedroom.
NB. The steep path up to the lodge should be highlighted more. It had been raining & was thick with mud. It was very slippery especially on the way down. There was no railing to hold onto - this was unacceptable and extremely dangerous. This path was the only way to take our luggage up to and down from the lodge.
We’d organised a late checkout with owner but she didn’t honour this.
- Emma (6/5): basic, warm and dry and good communication with the host, just what was needed for a budget O/N stay - Quiet, clean, safe parking, excellent instructions Muddy, steep access up a woodland path, big bed a bit hard and nowhere to hang up clothes, basic but good value.
A pint of milk would have been useful given teabags and coffee were provided
- Marc (9/5): Superb - Excellent all round and vicky the owner was very helpful.
- Patrick (9/5): Superb - We were going to a wedding at the nearby Waverley Abbey. Vicky advised popping in en route to get our bearings. We were glad we did as I probably not found the property in the dark. It also enabled us to check in 3 hours earlier than we should. Tea and coffee was available but no milk. Minor point I know.
- Samantha (7/5): Great location - Great location - easily accessible to amenities and many attractions in the area. Everything provided for a simple self catering stay. Some basic maintenance needed to make the accommodation a perfect gem.
- Kora (5/5): Passable - was quiet, hosts were lovely and left open for us to get in late after a concert in london quite dirty, lots of spiders including big field ones which made it quite uncomfortable considering we found one in the bedsheets
- Sarah-jane (9/5): Lovely lodge, well managed, perfect hosts, excellent comms, highly recommended! - Really wonderful lodge, had everything we needed in a pretty location, perfect for our short stay! We loved it! Poss lighter duvets for the summer? (We have coverless duvets for guests, lightweight and so easy to wash & dry). Sofa was a little low and difficult to sit on.
- Ian (8/5): Very good -
- Andy (9/5): Superb -
- Matthew (10/5): Brilliant location, great value for money, very clean! - Really secluded and perfect for what we needed it for. No toilet rolls on site, but this didnt affect our stay at all!
- Jiya (9/5): We loved the Chalet and our stay! Vicks was very kind and helpful. - Everything! Nothing.
- Jane (5/5): It was ok but from other reviews I was expecting better - Its location was good for us although next to a busy road. It was clean and if you like very firm beds they were comfy The main problem was the water. Which was easier once we’d worked out that if you flushed the toilet it would be a while before you got more than a dribble of water through the taps/shower.
The layout was strange with the bathroom off one of the bedrooms so depending on who was in the party the people in the second bedroom have to disturb the others
Outside seating didn’t have any cushions
It’s unusual not to have coffee and a pint of milk when you arrive so make sure you have it with you.
- Murielle (9/5): Superb -
- Hitendra (9/5): Superb - It was spacious
Clean. Difficult to find.
Parking issue if have a big car or van.
One bathroom
The outside patio needed tidying up
And water suppy in the bathroom low.
The fan wasn't working.
- Barnes (7/5): This lodge is a few steps away from being desirable and simple improvements would enhance the stay - Location and space of two bedrooms was good friendly hosts Lack of wifi and phone signal frustrating also muddy overgrown path made it difficult to enter and exit the lodge and slippery decking could be dangerousl! Lacking in basic crockery ( no tea or coffee cups although tea making facilities provided
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Joachim (8/5): Good on the whole, a few tweaks needed - Excellent, clear comms with host prior to stay.
Good location, and only a short distance from central Farnham.
Easy WiFi access, great connection throughout visit.
Large, spacious lodge, which would have been ideal had my family been able to travel with me - all the amenities you could need for a short break.
The outdoor bbq and seating would be great of a summer evening, just needs cleaning down so useable. Lack of privacy with front door of lodge in the living area (no blind/curtain for set of double doors).
Parts of the lodge feel a little tired and need a little TLC.
- Toilet seat wonky and loose
- Bathroom sink slightly blocked, general finish could do with a touch up
- Unfortunately, some of the linen (although I'm fairly certain, was clean) had stains on, and signs of needing to be replaced
Perhaps some milk to go with the complimentary tea/coffee would have been a welcome addition
- Damian (5/5): A nice cabin with access issues (not for the elderly) in a lovely location. Needs TLC. - Location, nature, price and proximity to Farnham Clearly lacking TLC. I can see from previous reviews that nothing has been done to deal with known issues, e.g. mould in the bathroom, wobbly toilet seat (plus leak), restricted use of heating, water pressure and general untidiness on the outside (guttering was broken). Also I sent a message to the owner about Amazon packages left at their doorstep, offered to take in, went unanswered...
- 💎 (9/5): Superb - The beautiful scenery, the hosts were lovely, the accommodation was modern and well equipped. Amazing stay ❤️
- Russell (9/5): Superb -
- Elizabeth (9/5): A fabulous location, easily found, really helpful hosts, comfortable beds and good value. - All communication with Vicky was superb. She is friendly, flexible and efficient. The directions to the lodge were very clear and, although slightly tucked away, I found it without any problems. The lodge itself was clean, plenty of towels and linen and the beds really comfortable. Wifii signal was good. I had everything I needed in the kitchen to prepare meals and I would heartily recommend and also use again myself. The spot is wonderful - brilliant to wake to birdsong and sunlight coming through the trees. There is nothing I didn't like.
- Jenny (9/5): Superb - Fantastic natural environment. Probably a little wasted for our one night trip but imagine it would be great for the summer months when you can use the outdoor space. Needs a bed side lamp in main bedroom
