Guest Reviews
- Eveline (10/5): From the first contact with Pierre and upon arrival, I had the feeling that after a hectic period, I could finally relax - The peace and tranquility you feel immediately as you step onto the terrace at the reception and also when you enter the room. There is a very pleasant atmosphere, which is naturally created by the nature and jungle you have a direct view of, but certainly also by Pierre and his team. The room is very spacious, clean, nicely decorated and with the sliding doors open, you feel like you are part of nature. The hummingbird literally rushes past your ears, and the ‘sounds’ of the jungle as soon as the sun sets are actually the only sound you hear. Right in the middle of nature and yet within walking distance of Minca. The location is therefore truly perfect! Everything is very lovely taken care of, even some facilities for making coffee, tea, or using a fridge. Pierre is very helpful, attentive, very quick to answer messages, and is happy to help you with all kinds of recommendations for tours or things to do and discover in the area.
- Augustin (9/5): Great view , relaxing! - Location and great view. 10-12 minutes walking distance from Minca center The flooring needs better cleaning. There were many long hairs on the carpet and in the toilet.

- Audrey (8/5): - The hostel is perfect. The restaurant is open till 16h and the rooms are downstairs. The view is beautiful. The wall between the beds is nice and there is a hammock in the room. Hummingbirds are right by your window. The hostel is easily accessible by moto taxi and the staff was very helpful when we needed one. There was also a waterfall nearby that we could enjoy. Not the only hotel in Minca we experienced this, but the bed are too hard and you feel like you are sleeping on plywood. Luckily the hammock was a nice alternative. Also the drain of shower was blocked.
- Tom (10/5): - Piere the host was great, gave us great recommendations and also arrange a local taxi for us from santa marta - seeing hummingbirds on the balcony every morning was a nice little bonus to. Good location nice and quiet with a 10 minute walk into town . Nothing
- AUDREY (10/5): Parfait! - Nous avons tout aimé! Le calme, la vue et l’accueil! La chambre hyper spacieuse et très sympa! Rien!

- Nicaise (10/5): - Super hôtel, super vue, super host.
- Grazyna Malgorzata (10/5): Tranquil oasis yet walking distance to town - Close to town yet away from the noise. Lovely and tranquil. Excellent recommendations from owner for walks and places to eat. Very helpful with any requests Room was a little dark at night.
We didn't mind as there are excellent places to eat nearby but there is no kitchen after 6pm
Niks

- Manuel (10/5): We had a very good time at pistachio , Pierr is an amazing person happy to help you with anything you need , the quality - Beautiful location Nothing
Bon wifi.

- Emily (6/5): Rustic but lovely view in the hills of Minca - Incredible view just a 20 minute walk from town and hot water. Microwave and fridge to use as well. Assisted us with transport to the airport. Showed up within the advertised check-in hours to no one being there. Seems the place is not finished still or just not open. We were under the impression this was more of a hotel with a restaurant.
- Cristhian Rolando (9/5): -
- Mick (10/5): - The host is very friendly, helping us with a reliable airport shuttle, local recommendations and a ride to Minca. The room that we stayed at was exceptional, with plenty of room, a stunning view and comfortable beds. Even the bathroom is a true jungle experience. I recommend staying at the Pistacho Hostel!
- Erwin (7/5): Beautiful setting, but with some inconveniences - The view from the terras is great. We saw colibries and even toucans! Nice hot shower, that's often not the case in this area. The owner wasn't in the country, but still very responsive. We knew there wasn't aircon, but we expected a mosquito net over the beds, or in front of the windows, to be able to let the cool evening/night air in. But that is not the case. We arrived in a hot humid damp room and couldn't open the sliding doors because of the mosquitos. It was very hot and we didn't sleep well. The fan on the left side of the room has the power of a tornado (and fell of the wall in the middle of the night).
The bathroom has nice features but the 'window' is only one brick taken out of the wall, so it stays wet. The room has 4 beds but only two chairs, inconvenient. The restaurant was closed 2 of the 3 days, the place felt a bit abondoned.
- David (9/5): - Buenísimo
- Julien (8/5): - L’emplacement
- Leonardo (8/5): Very good -
- Bjorn (8/5): Very good -
- Filip (10/5): The view! - The view from my room was stunning. Location is 10 minutes outside the village so it was really calm and peaceful. Staff is very friendly and kind. Breakfasts were a bit small, but delicious - still very good value for money. No hot water, but it was really hot season so it wasn't needed.
- Katharina (10/5): Exceptional - I can totally recommend this place for a stay!
It is located a bit outside the busy village, a 15 min walk up the hill. But the walk is worth every minute, because you get a quiet place in the wonderful nature. The rooms offer a great view, with hummingbirds visiting you on your large balcony. The room and bathroom were generous as well and absolutely clean. There is a water dispenser in the hallway as well as a fridge and even a microwave.
The place offers a nice breakfast and the people working at Pistacho were very sweet and helpful.
All in all, a great experience!
- Darlys (10/5): A Comfortable piece of Heaven! - This is a beautiful place with fantastic forest views! The bed is ultra comfortable, and the room decor is very nice, well designed, and fits the surrounding nature with large windows and sliding glass doors & balconyfor fantastic viewing!
The owner provides serious customer service, including quick responses to all texted questions, meal suggestions, he even gave me a moto ride to town when I was going to call a taxi! He offers fantastic homemade breakfasts (for a small charge), and he was also very helpful with side issues, eg the power got knocked out with a big rain/wind storm, and he ran the generator during waking hours to help us keep our phones charged and able to retrieve/send messages! Also, my fan just stopped working in my room for no reason, he immediately came with another fan to help keep me cool! I enjoyed everything about my stay here. It's certainly not the cheapest price in town, and absolutely not the cheapest accommodations. You do get what you pay for!!
- Tammy (10/5): Relax in nature - We had the best stay at Pistachio! It was so peaceful and relaxing. Nothing but the sounds of nature and beautiful views. You can watch the hummingbirds and tocans from your balcony. The room was spacious and comfortable. The access to a fridge, microwave, and bottled water was a nice bonus too. It is a short walk to town and there are a couple places to eat near by so you don't have to go too far if you don't feel like it. We wished we could have stayed longer. nothing
- Sophie (10/5): fantastic - Incredibly attentive staff and wonderful location with the perfect view of the sierra nevada, amazing value for money too!
- Alicja (10/5): Exceptional - Very good location. Near Minca center but far enough to be very calm place when you can relax and observe the nature. The view from the room was amazing - it's an attraction itself. Additionally the room is big and comfortable. You also have a warm water in the shower which is not that common in the area. The owner is very helpful so if you need any information or help he can always assist you none
- Nadia (8/5): Very good - We had a great time at casa pistacho and enjoyed very much our balcony with great view and lots of birds to watch, even Tucans. We also liked to be a little outside of Minca but still not too far so you could easily walk in 15 Min to town. The rooms are quite new and there is free coffee, water and a fridge and microwave to use. The bathroom was not very clean for example the toilet, mirror and sink. Also there was still an old soap bar on the floor of the shower of a previous guest. The owner was helpful with everything and responded real quick on whatsapp but it would have been nice not to have to ask for anything in the first place like extra toilet paper or filling up the drinking water…
- Arens (7/5): Good -
- Leanne (9/5): Would stay again - Loved the balcony and how peaceful it was. The same was very spacious too. N/A
- Melissa (1/5): Bad - They cancelled last minute with a call saying that we were already warned that they didn't have availability. We booked through Booking, how would we be warned? Simply irrational... Not respectful and serious business.
- Kirsty (8/5): Stay for the views! - Absolutely stunning view from the balcony. Beautiful bathroom, comfy bed and great to have coffee/drinking water every day. Very friendly owner who obviously has put his heart and soul into it! As is often the case for the best views, the location is a little far from town. 15 mins walking up hill on the main road (which is sometimes quite busy). It’s not a huge problem and is accurate in the listing but just one to note if this is an issue for you.
- Tanya (10/5): Exceptional - The most beautiful view from the balcony (and we checked out many places before this one!) The owner Pierre is super helpful and really went out of his way to accommodate us and whatever we needed.
- Vaskln (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful balcony and very silent early morning when you have your coffee and you feel you are middle of Amazon and beautiful birds round
- Sergio (9/5): Great quiet place with a green lively view - The room is as depicted: fairly simple but spacious enough, basic ammenities like filtered water or coffee available in the common corridor. The balcony is charming and, thanks to a purpose-specific feeder, an ideal place to spot hummingbirds. Pierre, the host, advised us readily and helped us plan transportation and a birdwatching tour in town. Perhaps because of the location of the room (one level below the street), the noise of the street did not bother us at all.
A few additional niceties from the place include: the option to order a generous breakfast and hot water in the shower (far from a given in Colombian "tierra caliente"—regions that are warm all year through). Just to avoid surprises: a big part of the hotel is still under construction, which means the common area is very humble and the restaurant is still not there.
- Elias (10/5): Exceptional - The host ware verry friendly and the comunication was easy.
The view from the balkony was amazing.
We would definitely go there again.
- Alexa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tolla (9/5): Very enjoyable - Beautiful view..spacious room Will be amazing when the lodge is finished
- Caroline (7/5): Good - Absolutely spectacular view from the balcony. The sound of nature was lovely and we saw lots of wildlife. The sunset was beautiful and on a clear day you can see all the way down to Santa Marta and the sea. It's an easy 20 min walk down into the town. The room was clean and the shower was the best we have had in Central and South America. I don't think Casa Pistacho is quite finished yet. Some rooms are yet to be built and the terrace upstairs is under construction. In our room, the door didn't fit properly in the frame so we had to put something in front of it to keep it closed. In the night we had many insect visitors which is to be expected in the jungle, but they seemed to be coming through gaps in the wooden ceiling. A mosquito net would be good too. If these issues can be resolved Casa Pistacho will be a real gem in Minca.
