Guest Reviews
- Charlotte (10/5): Perfect location for a solo traveller - Swallows Rest is really a stunning place. Great location and the property itself is quaint and cosy. As a solo traveller (female) I felt safe and at home.
I enjoyed sitting out on the patio in the evenings.. spotted a hare and a fox! Perfect base to visit many places for a hike. The mattress was a little uncomfortable
- Lorna (10/5): -
- Len (9/5): Only stayed one night en-route to north Yorkshire. Enjoyed the property and location - Host have really thought through all the requirements. Super The lumpy mattress sadly did let the rest of the home down. Otherwise it would have been a 10
- Julian (8/5): Lovely stay. Shame about the downstairs floor area. - Location. Tastefully furnished. Tea and coffee great. Lovely touch with wood and fire lighters for outside fire pit. Upstairs bedroom, bathroom and kitchen clean. Living area and sofa not clean.
- Ben (9/5): -
- Joanna (10/5): Amazing highly recommend homely , perfect - Stunning accommodation , compact but everything needed. Perfect location. Kept up to date by host directions, when could access and details of key . It’s our second visit definitely visit again and recommend Could do with extra baking tray and took us while to understand hob maybe instructions … I’m not best with technology
- Bethan (9/5): A cute little countryside utopia - Quaint, immaculately presented. Enjoyed a lovely evening with the fire pit and awoke to breathtaking countryside views. Peaceful and relaxing stay and the cottage was well equipped and idyllically quirky Not a fault but to bear in mind there are sloping ceilings due to the wonderful renovation so just watch your head.
- Donna (10/5): - Everything was perfect. We loved our stay. Cottage was stunning and beautiful location.

- Zeshan (10/5): Amazing - The view was amazing loverly cottage in middle of fields Thier was some Animal or insect you could hear in the wall or outside the wall moving around occasionally
- Natalie (10/5): Thank you Linzi and Lee for such an amazing getaway! - Everything was thought of down to the fine details! We loved everything from the Emma Bridgewater crockery to the photo album showing the renovation process. The perfect little getaway for a couple nestled in the Peak District countryside. We were lucky to time our stay with cows and sheep as well, out with their babies! Nothing!
- Lucille (10/5): Beautiful, peaceful little cottage. - Gorgeous little cottage. The attention to detail and the cleaver planning of the cottage is impressive. You can tell a lot of love goes into this place.
Additionally, I love arriving at a place and you can see the hoover lines in the carpet. Beautiful, thank you for your service.
- Alan (10/5): What a great place to escape and unwind - Just lived everything about the property an exceptional attention to detail If I was being picky the WiFi is very weak

- Robert (10/5): Really cosy! - Everything was perfect and we would definitely stay again!
- Mia (8/5): 2 night stay - Cosy and scenic views. - 2 night stay. Location was brilliant, not too far away from local amenities but you're still surrounded by scenic views. Check in very easy! Kitchen facilities had all you needed, lovely heated floors as well. Stay was lovely. The only slight negative was the bed. Pillows kept slipping down the back of the bed due the mattress being slightly too small for the bed frame. Mattress wasn't the comfiest as well.

- gregory (10/5): -
- hayden (10/5): - Our immediate reaction when we pulled up was "wow". The location, the views, the cottage just perfect. Beautifully peaceful, cosy well equipped cottage and cow friends!
The little seasonal touches were adorable!
The weather was a bit up a down for us, but with the firepit and a little sheltered bench it ended our evening perfectly. Enjoyed watching the mist roll in..
Oh and the sunrise!! Who ever is reading this and will be staying, you must! Set an alarm!
Thank you for having us, we will be back :) We had to go home :( ..
- Jaide (10/5): Perfect! Highly recommend - So cosy, had everything we needed for the night. The views are stunning!
- Emily (10/5): Fantastic, great find and value for money. - It was tucked away in a beautiful setting. There has obviously been a lot of care taken to make it homely. The finish of the property is excellent too. Touches like dressing gowns, a blanket for outside, the fact it’d been decorated for Halloween. Nothing.
- Charlotte (10/5): -

Private parking next to the cottage.
Perfect, quiet location
25 mins away from alton towers
Everything you need in a home, from travel cot, highchair, games for the kids.
Microwave, cooker, kettle etc
All the utensils you need
Towels, teatowels, washing up sponge, tea, coffee & sugar
There's nothing you need to bring with you.
Lovely glass aspect walking up the stairs to see through to the living room.
Couldn't fault it. Its not that I didnt like it but there are parts of the side of the ceilings which are low & i did bump my head a few times especially getting out of bed in the dark & again in the bathroom. Its only upstairs but as its a barn conversion it can't be helped. Very quirky
No toaster, would of been a bonus
Nothing I disliked, lovely quaint cottage

- Agata (10/5): Magical place 🤩🤩🤩 - The words will not describe how beautiful, amazing and magical Place this is.
I went there with my partner to just escape from everyone and everything 😅😅
The only mistake was booking just for one night we should stay longer.

The view of this place and animals around it like , cows and sheep make this place more peaceful and magical

Property home from home
Cleanliness of property Nothing
- Chelsea (9/5): Gently woken by cute sheep family - The location was amazing and the host communicated well, the location was easy to find because of the directions given and check-in was smooth. Everything was working and was provided with everything we’d need. Wish we had more time to use the outdoor stuff but was too tired from our hike! Pull-out bed slightly uncomfortable but it’s ok ❤️
- Simpson (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely perfect,so clean everything you need and amazing views value for money Nothing,it was perfect
- Jaimme (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely gorgeous cottage!
- Florin (9/5): Beautiful little cottage surrounded by beautiful scenery - Location is great, in the middle of the nature. The cottage is modern, with all amenities to make your stay pleasant. Floor heathing was a plus :) The sofabed downstairs is uncomfortable to use as a bed at least for two adults, probably best suited for kids or only one person.
- Craig (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gregory (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tom (10/5): The perfect cottage getaway - EVERYTHING.. the cottage was cosy and perfect for our night away. The sunrise views in the morning from the velux window were something else. N/A
- Rachel (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely cute cottage in the middle of beautiful surroundings but not too far away from essentials.. lovely and peaceful..had everything you could need. The views were just incredible! The only tiny nit pic I would have is the windows could have been bigger just so could see the views better from inside but it wouldn't stop me from returning, just personal preference.
- Lisa (10/5): Night awayxxx - The cottage is amazing, very cosy, very clean such a beautiful play to stay this is our second time we have stayed ere we will be returning very soon the veiws are amazing ..xxxx

- Caughey (9/5): Superb -
- Kellie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bethany (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (9/5): Would stay again - Beautiful cottage. Super comfy bed. Loved the underfloor heating. The oven door wouldn't close. Being tall the upstairs rooms were a little awkward but not a big deal. The throws on the sofa and chair could do with being replaced with a fabric that is easier to clean.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (9/5): Superb - Lovely property. Nice touches with the Christmas decorations. Outstanding location
- Chris (10/5): The most amazing little hideaway and perfect location for a cozy stay - This is without doubt the nicest cottage we have stayed in through booking.com. Its location is incredible and the view is just stunning first thing in the morning watching the sun rise against the snow was just magical. It’s very well kept and everything is laid out for your comfort and coziness. We came when it was -7 weather and the cottage was amazingly warm and cozy and remained warm and cozy for our entire stay. There was no negative to our stay
- Kate (10/5): Exceptional -

We loved all the Christmas decorations!
Linzi and Lee were so accommodating. Nothing !!!

- Darren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charlotte (10/5): Warm and cosy in beautiful surroundings. Quiet and comfortable . - Lovely and quiet. Really warm and cosy too! Nothing
- Faeeza (10/5): Absolutely wonderful - The location, the decor, the finishing touches, the little extras. The only one single thing I could fault was the mattress on the bed was so so soft that it gave me a bad back!
- Penny (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the Cody sweet cottage. Furniture flowed with the cottage theme. Beautiful stay, homely and clean. The access to road. Only because I had to reverse everytime I came to a bend for other drivers. Aaaargh. Loved the rural countryside location thou.
- Chloe (10/5): Cosiest amazing home. - Everything , it was so beautiful and homely and clean.
- Charlotte (10/5): Exceptional -
- Char (10/5): Exceptional -
- Iain (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (9/5): Beautiful, charming area. - Beautiful area, quiet and charming surroundings. The internal facilities were clean, neat and tidy. Most furnishings, appliances and other accessories were of exemplary quality. Fresh milk on arrival, TWO TVs! And even a bunch of flowers in the vase 😀 The kitchen: Due to the curved (convex) base of the only available, and therefore practically useless, frying pan, we used the aforementioned extremely aged utensil only when absolutely necessary. It was only possible to heat the very centre of pan. This fact was, of course, very frustrating and a great pity. Not to mention the formidable amount of energy needed to heat a "bulged" frying pan.
We were unable to find any operating instructions for either the oven and heating elements, the microwave oven, or any other of the available appliances.
Fortunately, we had brought our own cutlery. The knives which we found in the kitchen drawer are, in our opinion, totally impractical for eating with.
- Aimee (10/5): AMAZING, highly recommend! - Upstairs bedroom and bathroom perfect! Kitchen fitted out perfectly, tech of tv and wifi amazing! Perfect little cottage would book again!
- Clara (10/5): That was a charming little house, we loved our stay here in the middle of the sheeps. - It's really cosy, we liked the tableware with cute animals. Great place to rest after a day of rain. Carefull at your head in the room!
- Anna (9/5): Superb - The location was beautiful, the house was immaculate and very cute and cosy. We loved the views and the cows visiting in the mornings. Not the best if an adult is planning to sleep on the sofa bed but otherwise very comfortable and peaceful
- Rebecca (9/5): Superb -
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional - This cottage is absolutely stunning, me and my wife stayed here just before our wedding and waking up to that view in the morning was absolutely magical.
The absolutely perfect place to stay and we will hopefully be back for our anniversary. Nothing
- Janet (10/5): Exceptional - Supern location, thought of everything. Really loved it, but just needs a couple of things fixed. Loved the photo book... we'll done on your renovation. The mirror had broken & there was a small replacement mirror there, but does need a larger mirror in the bathroom. Someone has also broken the soap holder. Needs a decent mattress, to thin, had a bad sleep 😴 Needs instructions how to use the stove top.
- Lisa (10/5): Great - Remote
Clean No signal on phones
- Jess (9/5): Superb - Such a gorgeous little place. All the facilities you need and within good distance to local hikes. Nil
- Lorraine (10/5): Wonderful, peaceful place to stay in a beautiful area. - We were aware the property was not close to any local shops or pubs when we booked, the peace and tranquility was really lovely and we would definitely return to the property in the future. I would have liked a toaster in the property rather than use the grill which is part of the oven, this did not take away from our stay just what we are used to at home.
- Cheryl (10/5): Exceptional - Very cosy and well equipped. Had everything we needed Pull out sofa bed duvet could be better. It was too thin and got lost inside the duvet cover. Just a small recommendation. Everything else was great.
- John (9/5): Beautiful, quiet spot in the Peak District - Great location in a beautiful place, lovely decor, modern facilities, clean and comfortable.
