Guest Reviews
- PRFC (5/5): A beautiful location and a passable stay. - The Hotel has one of the most spectacular locations. Unfortunately it simply doesn't match that with the level of 'finish' you would expect for the price charged & it's superb views. The rooms are dated and need refreshing as does a good deal of the interior of the Hotel.
- Johanna (9/5): Comfortable clean hotel in great location - Easy parking, lovely location .
- Matthias (9/5): - Lage ist super! Beste Aussicht ever! Alte Ausstattung im Zimmer.
- Haydn (9/5): -
- Daniel (9/5): -
- Jayne (10/5): Location, location, location! - With a location like this, you don't need anything else really. That said, saff were brilliant, very friendly without being false, nothing worse than being gushed over unnecessarily!
Breakfast was fab, try the porridge please!
Rooms were large, clean, smart and basic. An extra night would have made the trip better so next time I must book 3 not 2 nights.
- Melissa (9/5): Easy to book, fabulous location with warm and friendly staff. - Staff were all wonderful, location, spacious room, food. Other guests speaking loudly in the corridors late at night and early morning.
- Chris (10/5): - The food was amazing Maybe have 2 toilet rolls in the room.
- Dauna (9/5): -
- Busby (10/5): Gorgeous view - Friendly helpful staff
Great food
Comfortable bed
Central location for walking
- Darren (10/5): -
- Martine (6/5): Heights Hotel reviews - The stunning views Room was very small for the price, it was far to hot , even when we turned off the heating there are hot water pipes running all around the room , they did turn the heating system off but at 5am it came back on making noises for a good 30 mins ,
Nice staff , breakfast was ok, but rooms are a bit dated
- Mark (8/5): Superb views - Views at breakfast and indeed breakfast itself. TV was too small and no electrical sockets next to beds. Small lift opening up into the restaurant. Tiny showerhead.
- Sean (8/5): -
- Steven (10/5): - Great location, spacious rooms, excellent breakfast with great views of Chesil beach.
- robert (8/5): -
- Tim (7/5): Highly recommended - Location, Location and the Location. The views from the restaurant are - I would suggest - the best to be had in the UK and arguably in the world particularly when comparing the accommodation costs of well known worldwide panoramic views
Special commendation to all of the staff I interacted with - positive, happy and chatty .
There are too many excellent hotel characteristics.
The wide corridors and open, free flowing guest areas with excellent acoustic qualities - lends itself positively to the Neurodivergent community (I have AuDHD and PTSD. ).
Great to see the use of a talking and automated robot serving food and drinks in the cafe.
I commendation the venue for its suitability as a conference centre. Plenty of parking spaces. One must bear in mind that this is not a 5 star venue. The bedrooms fulflsl it's obligation to provide comfortable beds and rooms in a clean and utilitarian manner.
I had to complain to our restaurant waitress that she was far too happy..
I would like to see those tables that are being used for the evening restaurant purposes to each have a white tablecloth and a candle. Yes, a candle even in the summer! Doing so represents the status of the partaking of a main restaurant course of food rather than the Bistro elements.
I would suggest the use of an anti reflective film on the panoramic restaurant windows or the angling of the bar lighting to allow residents to better see the fabulous sea and bay views.
- David (8/5): It was a good base reminded us of a Primier Inn without the prices - Beautiful location, exceptional views from the restaurant, friendly helpful staff
Unfortunately we had my sisters funeral so we were a day late but they wouldn’t let us stay the Saturday unless we paid extra. View from our room was rubbish-car park.
No charging points or sockets by the beds ,
- peter (10/5): Just as good as always - Food was excellent, and staff friendly and very helpful, nice and clean all over the hotel, have been before and it's still as good. Nothing
- Holland (6/5): Ok as usual. Food on restaurant very good. - Good Bedrooms very dates and tv small
- Gary (8/5): They did a good job - Tired looking exterior , but well kept inside, great staff and views Nothing
- Joanna (7/5): -
- Delyth (9/5): Lovely friendly staff in a great location. - Excellent location. Nothing
- Martin (8/5): Staff very welcoming & helpful - Loverly views ,comfortable rooms
- Katy (8/5): Great views and friendly staff - Beautiful views A bit dated
- Altemur (5/5): That hotel needs very urgent refurbishment and new management . - Only the view was excellent from restaurant. No view for the rooms at all.
Restaurant was very rundown. Breakfast was really poor Room was very low standart. Flat tv was slightly bigger than my laptop screen.
Bathroom was very basics.
Restaurant was very basics too and breakfast wasn’t pleasant at all. We had to stop somewhere else to have our proper morning coffee at least. Coffee was terrible there. We were very sorry to pay 135 for that quality.. it could worth only £85 perhaps.
- Andy (7/5): Fantastic location, staff, and breakfast, but old fashioned and need modernisation. - Fantastic location. Great breakfast. Very old fashioned rooms, windows let drafts in, thin walls so could here next room coughing.
- Paul (5/5): 90s but not in a good way - Location and views from bar/restaurant are fantastic Rooms are basic and reminiscent of the 90s. In fact the entire hotel needs a modern upgrade to capitalise on it's great and prominent location as the only 'hotel' on Portland. It would really benefit from a significant investment, which would hopefully attract business. There were only a few guests during my stay.
- Mick (10/5): -
- Pavel (10/5): Stunning views. - Excellent weekend stay. Lovely and helpful staff. Great location. Nothing really. Hotel interior stack in 90's but didn't bother me as I grew up then.
- Claire (8/5): -
- Brian (8/5): -
- Patrick (7/5): - big parking and view old beds matrass dead, water coffee not good
- Frances (8/5): -
- Jayne (8/5): We really enjoyed our stay perfect vantage point and comfy even courtyard view could see the Sea. - View from breakfast was specaular even on dull day. Tv in room was tiny for modern standards
- Debbie (10/5): - Staff was very helpful food was brilliant value for money We stayed 2 nights expected to have coffee and tea replenished went down to reception they gave us some
- Leonard (10/5): Would be happy to visit again. - Great breakfast, comfy bed, lovely views from restaurant. Helpful staff, thanks
- Thomas (9/5): sehr gut -
- Charlie (7/5): -
- Marina (10/5): Great location, spotlessly clean room, good food & beautiful views of Chesil Beach &Dorset coastline - Fabulous location with beautiful views over the island down towards Chesil Beach. The Staff were lovely and very helpful. The rooms were spotlessly clean and the power shower in the bathroom was very welcome after a hot summer's day exploring the island. Food in the restaurant was excellent and the service quick and friendly. Only a minor niggle, as it didn't wake me up during the night, but the soundproofing could be a little better re plumbing/bathroom noise from other rooms.
- Brenda (10/5): Relaxing and chilled, just what the dictor ordered. - View was spectacular. Staff could not do more but not intrusive. Food was delicious and good every day. The hotel is not modern but i liked the slightly older retro vibe, it was however very clean and nothing was too much for any if the staff.
- Judith (8/5): Lovely - Food staff amazing people Room was nice but could go with a little paint . Patio could be more private .
- Paul (9/5): Great. Would stay there again. - Great views and excellent location. The staff were exceptional. Very enjoyable stay. Only minor criticism would be the room furnishings and decor which look a little dated.
- ZENA (8/5): Stunning views of Portland. - The views of Chesil Beach are spectacular. The bed was a little hard, there was quite a lot road noise.
- Peter (10/5): Exc - It worked well for me everything was available no fuss Meet my expectations
- Raymond (8/5): Pleasant stay. - The location and the views. Breakfasts and evening meal. No menus in room.
- Mikkel (8/5): - Lovely view, room and breakfast. No outputs at the bedside
- Michal (8/5): -
- Jeanette (9/5): Really enjoyable break, would stay again! - View from hotel amazing! Staff very welcoming, room clean and plenty of room. Breakfast lovely. Cafe good. Cheap toilet roll which meant using more than you normally would.
- Emma (6/5): Pleasant due to location - The view
The huge bed which was comfy It’s very dated and tired. Needs big renovation.
- Emma (3/5): -
- Lee (10/5): -
- Malgorzata (10/5): We loved our stay in the Hights, everyone was very welcoming! - Hotel has Excellent location with great views!
Breakfast was great too!
- Paula (9/5): Relaxing break. - Great location, fabulous views. Staff were great. Room was clean. Bed was comfortable. Room was a little small. Could do with a few more vegan options; especially for Sunday lunch and the murder mystery event.
- Wioletta (7/5): - Well located and clean Bar food (burgers) were the worst we ever had in our lives. Beds uncomfortable.
- Nikhil (8/5): - Lovely and friendly staff and excellent location with great views Food felt a tad pricey but breakfast was great
- Nikola (10/5): -
- Cole (9/5): - The location The food especially the included breakfast it was excellent. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We cant think of anything to say that we never liked.
- Natasha (8/5): Superb value for money! We’ll be back - Cosy with everything you need - plus amazing views! We’ve stayed here a few times now and the only thing we think could be improved is the coffee at breakfast, which really lets down what is otherwise a lovely experience!
- Lorna (6/5): -
- Mclaren (8/5): -
- Elizabeth (10/5): - The view and location Nothing at all
- Phillip (3/5): Dissapointed much better options out there - The location is excellent, staff were ok It’s tired and quite depressing, room are old and beds way past their best, they had no bread or pastries at breakfast, the hotels hot water failed and we had to move out to another hotel having has a messed day completely wasted and staff thought it was ok not having hot water in the morning as it was working on the day of arrival, staff were less than helpful
- W (8/5): Comfortable, reliable and welcoming. - As usual very warm welcome . Excellent breakfast. Nothing.
- Elizabeth (10/5): A Perfect Place To Stay - Clean, warm, lovely hotel with beautiful sea views from the restaurant. As a woman travelling on her own for work, I felt very comfortable. The food was of a very high standard and the staff were attentive and friendly. I loved the robot who served me at lunchtime in the cafe! I liked it all. So good to find a hotel with character rather than a chain brand with identical outlets in every town.
- Jane (9/5): - Great location and spotlessly clean
- Viktor (5/5): A bit disappointing despite the wonderful location - The hotel is in a great location with beautiful views of the sea and the mainland The room and bathroom were a bit run-down and not very clean
- Anne (9/5): A very relaxing stay - The breakfast was very nice with plenty of choice. All the staff were very helpful to us a couple in our late eighties and not very steady on our feet. Thanks to them. Nothing
- tina (10/5): -
- Paul (5/5): - Amazing view from the hotel restaurant Breakfast choice limited, Could have been a lot better.
Food presentation was poor didn't look very appealing fried eggs had been sat under the heat lamp too long like rubber.
Hotel very very tired it was more like an army barracks
- Nicola (10/5): Overnight stay - Everything Nothing
- MadFish (9/5): It was ideal for our sad family gathering. - The location and views from the breakfast/bar/restaurant area are stunning!
The breakfast choices were good.
- Allan (8/5): -
- SALLY (9/5): A view to die for - The view from the restaurant is exceptional and is the main reason we always stay here.
Breakfast was great as were the evening meals that we had.
The original room we had didn't have any heating on, but the staff instantly arranged for us to have a room with an electric heater, no fuss, no bother at all. There was nothing we didn't like.
- Leonard (9/5): -
- Michael (9/5): - view - excellent
- Carolyn (9/5): - A good hotel, the staff were all exceptionally friendly, they took the time to interact with us.
Food was excellent, both breakfast and evening meal.
Spotlessly clean, we stayed at The Heights back in 2002, you always worry, would we be disappointed returning, we need not of been concerned! Nothing!
- Leonard (9/5): Very happy to stay here again. Thanks to all members of the management and staff team. - Venue, views, catering, friendly staff team. I would have appreciated a thinner pillow. Otherwise, we had an excellent experience at The Heights.
- Nicola (8/5): Staff are excellent and helpful, location has fantastic views of Chesil coastline and Weymouth bay. - Location and room 1st night evening meal one dish not great quality and no discount offered even though only ate vegetables and 3 bites of fish pie.
- Chloe (6/5): Okay - Location and views The restaurant was terrible and extremely overpriced
- Patricia (7/5): -
- Pete (8/5): Extremely relaxing within the hotel and the novelty robot in the cafe was entertaining. - Breakfast was amazing and plenty of freshly cooked items. Staff very polite and helpful also accommodating. I felt the darkened doors and furniture made the place look very dark. I had the two best nites sleep I've had in a long time.
- Vicky (6/5): -
- Eilir (10/5): - Size of the bed A bit dated
- Robert (7/5): -
- Mike (9/5): Great venue for a stay on Portland - Carvery was good value on a Sunday night, staff were friendly, great views. Decor a little dated but rooms had obviously been redecorated in recent years Bed was rather hard for my liking
- Paul (3/5): Good first impression, if you look hard enough you see cracks, TV should be in a museum - Good breakfast. Room service food was quite poor. I ordered a pizza, it cost £15 + £5 service charge and it was worse than a £3.50 Goodfellas pizza from Asda! Not good enough from a 'bistro'. If you can't make a simple pizza, then I'll skip the rest of the menu.
- ClaireLou66 (10/5): - Comfortable bed
Good amount of space
Restaurant, bar and cafe onsite
Good breakfast
Friendly staff Bathroom tired and a bit dimgy
Traffic noise
No socket near the bed
- David (8/5): Great location with amazing views across Chesil Beach - Great location Nothing
- Martin Leggett (10/5): Fabulous - Very friendly helpful staff. Comfortable room very clean throughout. Amazing views and fabulous food. A great package
- Geoff (9/5): - Great breakfast A little expensive
- Graham (7/5): O/all very satisfied - Room and Breakfast all good. More up to date
- Tina (8/5): Loved it. Friendly staff. Would defo come back - Location My bed and the how hot the room was.
- Anne (10/5): Excellant - Stunning location. Friendly staff. Clean, warm room and breakfast was nice overlooking the sea.
- Bassett (7/5): - It's in a great location and staff we're help and friendly It didn't feel value for money. The room was aged and the TV was in a odd place. No tea and coffee in the room.
- Rebecca (10/5): - Absolutely everything the room the staff the views it was a beautiful and calm place to be no noise at any point throughout the stay slept extremely well
Staff were outstanding polite welcoming helpful.
The reception staff Zoe so polite and welcoming credit to the hotel all members of staff in bar and bistro welcoming tentative
Would recommend the hotel to absolutely anyone N/A
- Hannah (9/5): Great stay at Heights Hotel - We spent one night at the hotel to celebrate our anniversary - for which we received a card and box of biscuits from the hotel - nice touch. The view and location is excellent. We enjoyed happy hour at the bar overlooking the sunset. The evening meal and breakfast were both lovely. The room was clean, we had a view of the sea. Tea and coffee products. We really enjoyed our stay.
- Matt (7/5): - The view is stunning but you can see it without staying here...
The staff are very good and friendly and helpful The whole place could do with a make over, the money they spent on a robot tray carrier they could use to redecorate the unfinished barn of a cafe. The rooms and food are overpriced.. this is a 3 star hotel that thinks its a 5...all just nice not exceptional
- Robin (8/5): - Great views, very clean, nice breakfast A bit dated
- Angela (5/5): -
