- luke (10/5): Brilliant stay, highly recommended - Lovely house and lovely host. Bedroom and Bathroom were both pristine, very clean and comfortable. I highly recommend
- Julia (9/5): Lovely, home-from-home, - Very clean, neat and tidy.
Good, clear directions from the owner as to how to find Burwood House]
Good pub in the village for lunches and evening meals.
- Kaz (10/5): - Lovely room in a beautiful house in Sutton upon Derwent. Claire was the perfect host, she was on hand if anything was wrong and was so welcoming. Her house and the room/private bathroom are beautiful and the little touches in the room are lovely. Would stay again
- Elizabeth (10/5): Lovely property and made very welcome. Now know to take slippers and dressing gown! - Location lovely but very warm night so needed windows open and traffic noise.
Bathroom huge and magnificent .
Bottles of water and snacks left for us.. Bedroom on small side but OK for one night.
Private bathroom but had to cross public landing to get to it. Had nit taken any night clothes so had to just wrap towel round in middle of night!!
Asked to remove shoes on entry. Don't mind doing this if I know in advance but had not taken any slippers and hate walking round in bare feet.. Will know for next time.
- Lawrence (10/5): Clare was such a welcoming host . Recommended 2 lovely places to eat which exceeded our expectations - Perfect location for York centre and the Elvington air museum. n/a
- Gary (8/5): Quiet & comfortable stay in a peaceful Yorkshire village. - Very quiet and comfortable. It feels very much like you're staying in someone else's house. Not a criticism, but I'm more of a self catering guy.
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (10/5): Fantastic place to stay a night or a week! - Superb property, quiet and comfortable, very welcoming host and the cutest dog! Nothing
- Gerald (8/5): We chose it to try the country side in a small village. Great for that in a clean, well maintained h - The only problem with Burwood House is that it is a tad hard to find. It is a two story single-family home. It does not have a numbered street address so one can't "count down" as approached. It is at a T-junction, opposite a small street that could be explained but is not.
The hostess is very friendly and wants to please.
- Gary (10/5): Really lovely place to stay outside York - Lovely bedroom and bathroom in a lovely house. Really clean, high standard and lots of little touches, like fresh milk, cotton buds and so on. Really good instructions on how to find it as well. Easy access for the University side of York worth considering as an alternative to staying in the city.
- Alexandra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrej (10/5): Excellent place to stay in the York region. Highly recommended! - Very nice and welcoming hostess, excellent place to stay in the York area, especially if you are travelling by car. Spotlessly clean and quiet. Just great! Actually, no complaints or suggestions for improvement at all!

Clare, the host, was lovely and helpful.
Burford House was perfect for our overnight stay visiting nearby relatives.
It is terrific value and we would highly recommend it.
- Michael (10/5): Wonderful - Close to everything. Clean and a wonderful host Clare. So helpful and friendly. A wonderful stay Nothing
- Jerry (10/5): Burwood House is a beautiful place in a small village not far from York. - The Burwood House is a gem sitting in a small village (Sutton upon Derwent) not far from York. Clare was a wonderful host and the room was clean and comfortable. She provided tea and snacks. The bathroom was large and beautiful. It had a nice big shower and tub. Not far from Burwood House was a great gastropub, St. Vincent Arms. We loved our stay at the Burwood House and highly recommend it to travelers.
- Jennifer (9/5): Superb - Easy to find and plenty of parking space. Absolutely beautiful bathroom for our own use, everything immaculate. Bed very comfortable, and a fan provided for cool air which was much appreciated. Lovely touches in décor, great attention to detail.
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Shaw (8/5): very welcoming and a lovely house -
- Byron (9/5): Little Jewel just outside York - Stayed for one night prior to visiting the Yorkshire Air Museum. Had a bit of a struggle finding the place, and wasn't entirely sure about it when I did - is a good idea to follow Clare, the owner's, instructions! The room and facilities were spotlessly clean, quiet and the room was very well supplied with snacks and drinks. Clare is lovely, and was very friendly and helpful, plus the location is good if you intend to visit York or the Air Museum. Normally when I book places I use the 'Breakfast Included' filter. I forgot in this instance, so ended up staying at places I wouldn't normally. Is no bad thing in this instance, but is something to bear in mind if you won't have the opportunity to get food. There is a pub just down the road which does evening meals, but was closed that particular evening. Did struggle to find anywhere open within easy travelling distance.
- Angela (10/5): Brilliant. - The host was lovely, the bed comfortable, the room clean with hairdryer etc, a wonderful bathroom and good shower. Nothing
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - An ideal location for me as I was working locally.

- Payton (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (10/5): Highly recommend - Excellent m! the room & en suite were spotless Very new & modern facilities
- Linda (9/5): Great - A superb room & bathroom opposite on the landing I wasn't aware it was a room in the owners house, having said that I didn't see them after the arrival welcome

- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Berry (10/5): Highly recommend. - A lovely room with very comfy bed. Snacks provided (which was appreciated) and a great selection of hot drinks. Long mirror was a real bonus. Bathroom was huge and spotlessly clean. Host wonderful. Nothing could have been improved.
- Joanna (8/5): Very good -
- Jo (9/5): Superb -
- Southgate (10/5): Exceptional -
- Graham (9/5): Very nice welcoming stay would highly recommend it - Very nice and a good location clean No breakfast lol only joking 😁
- Anonymous (10/5): Perfect stay, no complaints! - Beautiful house, immaculately clean! Bed was very comfortable and everything catered for.
- John (10/5): First class relaxing break - Lovely clean room and exceptional bathroom Nothing
- Regan (8/5): An overnight in the countryside near York. - Tea and coffee in the room, this was just the job as an overnight stay for a wedding.
It's an Airbnb type thing, so a room and an adjoining bathroom, but we were very happy.
Communication with the hosts was exemplary and we couldn't have asked for more. It's a bit out of the way, so for an booze fuelled wedding which required a taxi, it is a little bit out of the way, and the taxi companies charged like wounded rhinos. Obviously not an issue if alcohol is not a factor, but having transport is essential for this lovely, quiet location.
- Billy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alfie (10/5): Perfect - Super clean and spacious, friendly hosts, comfortable bed. N/A
- Gemma (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely spotless and Clare was a great host
- Jill (9/5): I enjoyed a very good night's sleep and felt well rested for my journey home in Storm Babet. - The personal touches...help with my bags being one! The use of wifi and easy parking close to the front door was very useful considering the dreadful weather. Fresh milk instead of tiny cartons was much appreciated. The unfortunate meeting with a car when I came out of the bathroom was unexpected as I did not know there were animals in the house.
- Yingying (10/5): good - It can be seen that the host is a warm-hearted person who loves life. She made our stay a home-like experience. Since we only rent out the bedroom and bathroom, our privacy will inevitably overlap with the owner's life, so it is recommended to install a door lock in the bedroom. This will make us no longer worry about security issues and have a better accommodation experience. Wish there was a refrigerator.
- Keith (10/5): Our best property yet - Very clean, well equipped, easy access, convenient on-site parking, friendly and helpful host, everything as advertised. Nothing not to like!
- Parchment (10/5): Will be back again soon! - Absolutely stunning property, every part of it felt like a home away from home. The attention to detail was evident, we only wish we had stayed longer. Not to mention the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept on! It was lovely having a nice chat with the host Claire who is so accommodating, it felt as if nothing were too much trouble for her. Definitely worth every penny.
- Brian (9/5): We had a lovely stay. Nice comfy bed. All toiletries, hair drier, drink making facilities etc were . - Everything about Burwood House was excellent. Although we had our own private bathroom we would have preferred an ensuite.
At the time of booking we were aware that the bathroom was separate. It is just a personal preference and in no way detracts from the B&B.
Breakfast was not included but this is reflected in the very reasonable rate that we paid.
- Eve (8/5): Beautiful village home with friendly owners who let you have your own space. - The house was beautiful and the owners were lovely! Was a bit odd to stay at someone's home address but didn't take us long to get comfortable. There were some cute snacks left for us and the bed was lovely. The only thing that could've made this perfection was if the room had a lock on it. Just to feel more secure in the house as you are staying at someone's home address it can feel a little odd and for safety reasons would've been preferable for us.
Other than that is was spot on!
- Marion (10/5): very good - no breakfast just bedroom. lovely home, and very friendly. may book again in the further.
sorry I mist you when I left. Marion apps
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional - The host is friendly and welcoming but not intrusive . The accommodation was spotlessly clean, with an enormous bathroom, large bath and shower.
The property was all I had hoped for and more.
The best nights sleep, for years, in a super bed.
The location close enough to get into York, especially the nearby park and ride, is a frequent, cheap and quick journey into the centre.
- Andrew (10/5): Simply perfect! - Very friendly hosts, spotlessly clean, very comfy bed and fast wifi. Perfect for what I needed.
The little jug of fresh milk in the mornings for the coffee was a lovely touch. Can't think of anything.
- Rebecca (10/5): Overnight stay - Beautiful double room and spacious bathroom. Very clean. Drink facilities n even a little snack selection. Great communication with host regarding directions and access.
20 minute drive into York centre and 10 minutes from York maze. Nothing
- Sharon (10/5): Absolutely immaculate. Beautiful home. Loved the little touches of crisps and snacks in the room. Spotlessly clean. Just - I liked the way Claire the host made us feel we can come and go as we please had own key and she was so flexible with time we could book in. Nothing.
- Jeffrey (10/5): Perfect accommodation and host, highly recommended! - Did exactly as I wanted, a perfectly spotless place to rest my head for the night. Nothing
- Grant (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice hosts , very helpful , clean, good facilities Nothing
- Fraser (8/5): Very good - Excellent location for my purposes, accommodation was well presented and clean and the owner was friendly and helpful. The mattress was too soft for me but otherwise nothing negative to say.
- Zita (8/5): Perfect for a good nights sleep. I would stay again :)) Thank you - I had a very pleasant stay, it was very comfortable and I slept really well. The host (Clare) was great and very helpful in providing advice. I didn’t realise before I booked how far it was from convenient stores, supermarkets etc and as I was on a course I was so tired after so the easiest option was to go to the local pub for an evening meal. It was slightly more than I’d like to pay for food, although nice. I would be more prepared next time.
- Sabari (9/5): Superb -
- Florence (9/5): Calm - Lovely light and clean bedroom very comfortable and cosy n/a
