Guest Reviews
- kenneth (10/5): - Very roomy apartment with lovely view down Pateley Bridge high street and beyond
- Moore (9/5): -
- Tristan (8/5): Just right for our 2-night stay to explore the area; would recommend. - Pateley Bridge is attractive and well-located for our first foray into the Yorkshire Dales. The flat is centrally located with a nice view down the high street. It was tidy and clean for us, and had the equipment we needed for our short (2 night) stay, which we were very grateful for. There was a fair bit of road noise in our room at the front of the property as it's on a steep hill and close to the road, but it was manageable. The second night there was unfortunately occasional but persistent thudding from the upstairs flat, but again it was manageable.
- Susan (10/5): Great location and lovely accommodation - The property was in an excellent location, literally a 2 minute walk to the main street. The view from the apartment towards the countryside was beautiful. The accommodation had everything we needed for a lovely stay. There were a few crumbs/dead woodlice on the floor, but the loveliness of the apartment made up for it!
- Alastair (9/5): Great weekend stay. - Very nicely renovated end of terrace house with view down the high street and across the valley. It had everything we needed and was comfortable. The underfloor heating took a while to figure out.
- cook (9/5): -
- Dominic (9/5): - A great little cottage, absolutely perfect for our stay. 10/10. The bedroom shutters were not great, the bedroom curtains were not large or thick enough.
- Ruth (10/5): Lovely break in a beautiful place. - Very clean and tidy. Good location. The only thing I don’t like is that you can hear the people in the apartment above moving about and it can get quite noisy, especially if they have children. I like silence do it may not be an issue for some people.
- WILLEM (8/5): Attractive property - Attractive, spacious, well-organised. Excellent location. The parking situation, the mattresses in the smaller bedroom.
- Carina (10/5): Perfect location, beautiful property, fantastic hosts - The view of the village was lovely! The kitchen was perfect for making Christmas and it was a lovely mix between the original stables and modernisations
- Andrea (10/5): -
- Alice (8/5): Very comfortable cottage - Wonderful views from the main room and a very well-equipped kitchen. Parking was a little tricky.
- Anna (8/5): - Kitchen had everything you needed, warm and cosy, easy to find, good location Bed a little hard for my preference but there was nothing wrong with it.
- Tomasz (10/5): Wonderful place to stay with a host who truly thinks how make the stay as comfortable as possible - We had a truly lovely stay at Chews Cottage in Pateley Bridge. This apartment is like no other! Spacious, cozy, neat and very comfortable. You could feel yourself at home. We loved the wooden floor, the shutters and exceptional view from the window. Pateley Bridge is quiet and calm in the evenings. We loved the neighborhood with delicious Cocoa Joe’s and tea rooms nearby. We could seat on a terrace in the evening admiring the sunset. Chew Cottage offers fully equipped kitchen with tea, coffee, sugar and salt for those who travel by plane and dislike wasting food. It is a good base for discovering Yorkshire and the Dales. The manager was very kind and helpful. This is a kind of place that you want to come back, a place with a soul. We fell in love with the place and surely will come back soon! We loved everything and cannot think of anything we would dislike.
- sharon (10/5): -
- Tanja (10/5): -
- Jennifer (10/5): - Fantastic location, great apartment with all facilities covered. Nothing
- Jonathan (10/5): Relaxing - Position Nothing
Nichts!
- Judith (10/5): We should have stayed longer! - Situated in a lovely village, great for exploring the wonderful Yorkshire Dales. Very quiet and clean, great views from the living room. Nothing!
- Jacqueline (10/5): Fabulous apartment in Pateley Bridge - highly recommend staying here - Great location, modern apartment, good shower
- Tom (9/5): -
- Madeleine (10/5): Exceptional - The location is great. The beds were very comfortable and clean Looking at the pictures, we thought they were an area to sit outside, but unfortunately, they weren't anywhere
- Marion (10/5): Great stay in Pateley Bridge - What a fantastic place. The sun shone as we arrived, and the view from the terrace down the high street and over the Dale was amazing. Well equipped with comfortable, clean beds and bathroom, would definitely revisit when visiting Pateley area again. We loved it all, but wouldn't recommend it for older people and wheelchair users due to the steps to the entrance.
- Tracey (9/5): Excellent base from which to explore the stunning Yorkshire dales - Location and beautifully appointed apartment. Immaculately clean. Single mattresses a bit soft for adults and no mirrors in the bedrooms.
- Foster (9/5): Superb -
- Hilary (8/5): Bijou apartment - The apartment has been beautifully designed within an old cottage, with several original features cleverly incorporated. It is bright, spacious and tastefully furnished, with a well equipped kitchen. The double bed and lounge seating were comfortable and the shower was good. Apparently, the single beds were a bit too soft.
The shutters in the double bedroom are essential as the enormous window is at ground level on the street and the net type curtains do not provide privacy. However, they were difficult to fasten and would not stay shut, but sprung back during the night, if the window was open. It was a warm June weekend and we did need a window open!
The living area felt a little sterile and would have benefited from the occasional picture and maybe a plant or two
There was no soap provided in the bathroom, which wasn’t a problem for us as we had brought our own. We did have to give some to a neighbour, who arrived later, exhausted after a long journey. This is not a problem I have ever encountered anywhere that I have stayed.
I was surprised that there was no teapot provided - in Yorkshire! 🫢
- Joanne (8/5): We will definitely return to the lovely Chews cottage - We stayed in 3 Chews cottage with beautiful views from the well converted open plan kitchen, dinning and living room. The two double bed bedrooms are of a good size with comfortable beds and plenty of room. Myself, husband and teenage son stayed and our other son & sister in law came for dinner each night - they were staying in the nearby Shepards huts (also a very relaxing place to stay with all that camping has to offer but with more comfort). We said we could live here permanently and fell in love with the cottage, the area and surrounding dales. We took a walk along the river to the reservoir and we booked a private climbing instructor through ‘live for today - adventures and activities’ to go to the well known rocks - about a 15 minute drive from the cottage (take a pack up because the site cafe is very expensive). All in all we will definitely be returning to Chews :) Thank you for a relaxing stay. Comfort - The pillows on the bed are really full and hard, which is great when sat up in bed but not so great when trying to get to sleep and some more scatter cushions in the living room would be great.
- Deborah (9/5): Great stay, will definitely re-book for a visit in the future - Very clean, spacious & well presented, great location, host really helpful
- Nicholas (9/5): Great location & comfort - Space , location Lack of recycling options for rubbish
- Rochelle (10/5): Great place to stay - The location, the view, and the space. The bed was a little lumpy.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Ideal location off High street with spacious living areas for small or large groups to enjoy the beautiful Nidderdale a - Beautifully presented self- contained apartments with plenty of communal outdoor space and easy access to large living area so our party of 12 could socialise after our days walking Nothing
- Tanya (10/5): Exceptional - The view all was lovely and looking forward to going back
- Michael (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (10/5): Peaceful and the accommodation was perfect -
- Ruth (10/5): Relaxing break. - Clean, comfortable and good location. Nothing.
- Ashley (10/5): Beautiful Christmas stay!! - Stunning views, extremely clean and the hosts couldn't do anymore for you! The apartment is very spacious and has lots of light coming through.
Right on the doorstep are lots of yummy cafes, Kendall butchers, loads of lovely walks and a park for kids.
We will definitely be back!!! Nothing!!!! It was a fabulous stay over Christmas :)
- Tracy (9/5): Superb -
- Joseph (9/5): Cosy, wholesome and modern, clean interior cottage with great views. - Stunning views. Exceptionally clean. Homely yet stylish decor.
- Thomas (9/5): 2 Chews Cottage was a delightful find - Brilliant setting, easy to make ourselves at home. Very spacious and heating very effective.
Could do with more glassware - e.g. short tumblers.
- Linda (10/5): What's not to like. - It was perfect.. location was lovely.. apartment was amazing.. warm.. roomy.. we'll equipped.. Could have done with a mirror in the bedrooms
- Janice (9/5): Great location, lovely accommodation, responsive host -
- Fay (8/5): Very good - Great location, nice interior & lovely view of the High Street
- Lynn (10/5): Fabulous - Absolutely stunning apartment with amazing views loved every min apartment had everything you could possibly need lovely comfy bed we will be booking again just perfect ! My only issue was steps and stairs to get to app 3 were quite steep but i have mobility problems but the owner had offered to change to ground floor apartment so i would book ground floor nxt time highly recommend chews cottage cant wait to stay again
- Cathryn (10/5): Super location and very comfortable. - Great location and views down the Pateley Bridge High Street. Very comfortable with all ameneties taken care off. Great for a short break.
- Natalia (10/5): Old coach house turned into modern holiday home - spacious and comfortable - Beautifully renovated coach house on a local high street. Great living space with a view of the historic street and the hills behind. We loved how the historic features have been incorporated into the modern interior. Our GF apartment certainly had a wow factor. We would have enjoyed to learn more about the history of the building - old photos , owners , any other information- after all you’ve got an office of the local historians just across the road. It is not a criticism- more of a suggestion
- Kenneth (8/5): Very good - location great
- Gary (10/5): Would stay again - Beautiful views
- Aaron (8/5): Great location - Nice little property, great handy location , good price for the time of year and was kitted out with everything we could need . We would def stay again . Only minor gripe is it needs a better clean in the shower area there was some black mould around it and the tv wasn’t working very well , it had a poor signal even after retuning, wasn’t really something that was needed though . But other than that it was a really good apartment perfectly located and comfortable
- Kathryn (9/5): beautiful location - Amazing views across the high street with the hills in the background. The apartment had everything we needed and there was a really helpful ring binder of information and walks. It was such a bonus to have comfortable beds too! We live in a flat area and found it a bit un-nerving to leave the car on a slope, but all was well!
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional -
- Penelope (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent location, comfortable apartment, recommended. Nothing
- Jane (9/5): Attractive apartment in attractive small town with good walking. - The location was in walking distance to food outlets and there was a good fish and chip shop, bakery, butchers and convenience store. The view from the top floor, flat 3 living room was down the High Street to the distant countryside. The furniture was a mixture of modern and traditional. There was a small outside terrace with gardens to relax on and eat and drink. There were art studios in the village which were interesting. There were many walks from the door along the river and further afield up on the moors and to a reservoir. There was also a NT site nearby, Brimham Rocks, popular for families for easy scrambling. Large playground in town. Because of the set up of the apartments there were 2 doors to unlock to get into flat 3 property. The tourist shops for any souvenirs opened late and shut early, so if you were out all day, you couldn't go to them.
- Julianf (10/5): Exceptional - Chews cottage has great views down Pateley Bridge high street. It is a great base to visit Harrogate and Knaresborough. It is nicely laid out and decorated and had everything our family of three needed. We were in no.2 which has another apartment above it from which you can hear people moving about if they have young active children.
- Greg (10/5): Family fun. - The location is perfect to explore the village Nothing
- Adrienne (10/5): Comfortable apartment, perfect setting, obliging host. - Spacious, clean, comfortable and easy access to the many cafes, shops and takeaways on the High Street. Lovely walks from the doorstep and short drives to many attractions. Would like a teapot but that’s nitpicking.
- Christine (9/5): Clean, convenient, comfortable and good value. Highly Recommended - At the top of the main street so very convenient for shops. A light and airy apartment with a view over the main street and across to the hillside. Outdoor seating and table. Tastefully furnished inside the flat with comfortable beds and pillows. A galley style kitchen in the living /dining room; sofa, table and chairs. All in good condition. Lots of tourist information provided. Friendly and helpful host. Highly recommended. Thank you Richard
- Craig (9/5): Superb -
- Scott (10/5): Would come again. - The cottage is really attractive and everything has been provided. Oven, micro wave and all the facilities, modern, worked very well and clean. A very nice space. On a quiet road with easy parking and very easy access to the town.
- Cn (9/5): Superb -
- Christine (8/5): Nice apartment great location - Located in a lovely town with scenic views from the apartment I’ve never been asked to do my own recycling delivery down the road before
- Phil (10/5): Would highly recommend this property - The flat was really clean and well appointed. Loved the old features like the old safe and tap. Shower one of the best anywhere we have stayed. Location perfect , our first time here but already looking forward to next stay. local pubs and take aways are nearby and great value.
- Mark (10/5): Booked up to return before we left! Loved it and the area. - Location and view. Accommodation in great condition. Even the knives were sharp! Nothing
