- Hannah (9/5): Perfect location for amenities and transport yet private and tucked away. - Everything you need is there. Nothing to dislike!
Having the kitchen door open brought more natural light into the living space and so cleverly designed throughout the sky lights flood the upstairs.
Neighbours not keen on other cars parking near them.
- Laura (8/5): Can’t wait to come back :) - Beautifully decorated. No coffee pods for the coffee machine
- Elise (10/5): Amazing, we would come back - Wonderful cottage in a great location for exploring the peak district. It felt spacious, was wonderfully decorated and had all the things you need including some lovely sweets and coffee/tea. Perfect for a little getaway. Great location, but finding it the first day took a little longer.
- Martin (9/5): A perfect break - Beautiful, peaceful and tranquil. A charming and thoughtfully renovated cottage.
- David (9/5): Super location for mini break. - Lovely cottage, a real home from home. Central village location close to railway station, pub, chip shop and takeaway. Short walk to historic areas such as Cromford Mill and Cromford Canal.
- Lorraine (8/5): Beautiful quirky comfy cotrage perfect for one small solo traveller. - Location, quirky, arty. 10 am check out.
Couldn't work out shower ....there's a switch outside the bathroom - some basics on a welcome card would ave been helpful.
Some teabags, coffee/ milks would have been a nice gesture ...same with toiletries.
So much gone into the decor which is stunning but these little things make such a difference after a long journey.
Would still come back though and will know to bring my own stuff for a cuppa 🙂
- Lisa (9/5): Perfect place for a quick getaway , easy access to local towns and walks - Cute decor and quirky
- Eleanor (8/5): - Adorable cottage in Cromford
- Katrina (2/5): Cold during winter - Nice decor and good location. Wish we had seen the reviews from the same time last year recommending not to stay during the winter period as we completely agree. The property was so cold on arrival that we could see our breath in the air. We immediately turned on the electric heaters (no central heating) but the property was just not warming up. After a couple of uncomfortable hours, we contacted the owner who did bring us some more heaters. The heaters did help, but also caused the electrics to short at one point and we could not erase the chill. The owner did mention that the property had been vacant for a few days so it was clear that there had been no efforts to pre-heat the space. We decided to book accommodation elsewhere and unfortunately were not offered a refund. The whole situation put a damper on my Birthday celebrations and we were financially worse off. We ended the long weekend unwell and can't help think that this accommodation may have contributed. Also, a couple of other points:
- No milk or similar ammenities provided
- Not perfectly clean (dust and rubbish under bed and used cotton bud on floor)
- Grant (9/5): Lovely cottage and location. - It was a lovely little cottage. Nice and set back off the main road but close enough to the local shop and pubs. Very quiet and really cosy! Plenty of towels, internet is very good, hot water bottles were nice to have on hand too and the bed wes extremely comfortable. The bathroom was out main problem sadly, although this is nothing to do with the owners as its just the way its built. The slopped ceiling above the shower, sink and toilet just made it very difficult for us to use either. So just bare this in mind if you're over average height! It was still a lovely bathroom and nice shower, just awkward to use. Also, one sky light window in the bedroom doesn't have a blind for some reason, so if you're fancying a lay in, you'll have to deal with the sunlight.

- R Stevens (8/5): A lovely quaint cottage stay , surrounded by history and convenient for many attractions in the area - We liked the quaint cottage, the location was very convenient, it was warm , the shower was good. Everything was set out nicely. I felt the cleanliness could have been better, the toothbrush holder was dirty, the crockery dusty, a pan still had grease in it. Round the bed was very dusty. There was cobwebs everywhere.

- Vicky (10/5): - Beautifully decorated cottage. Great location for exploring the peak district.

- Suzanne Haigh (7/5): Good location, not good for staying more than a couple of nights. - The property was set in a nice village and right next to a great bus route the takes you into Matlock and beyond. Ideal for where we wanted to go to. Because we had dogs, it would have been good for the courtyard to be gated. It wasn't and the neighbour didn't like our dogs wandering onto their property, although in the end we blocked it off with our cool box, which is just as well we took as there's no freezer. Also no oven. Luckily I'd taken our ninja as we were there for 5 days. Parking was an issue too. I parked on the unadopted road, and nowhere near the garages that say "no parking" and still got moaned at by the neighbour. If you're more than 5'8" I'd reconsider renting here as the bathroom is in the eaves upstairs and I had trouble cleaning my teeth over the sink and there wasn't much headroom in the shower.
- Lourençato Queiroz (7/5): Well located and practical - The cottage was lovely, very well located and clean, the host explained exactly how to get to the cottage and the cleaning lady let us leave our bags before checking in. There weren’t any coffee pods even thought there was a coffee machine, also had to run to buy salt, sponges for the dishes and body wash. The blinds in the bedroom area did not close properly and one of the windows did not have any blinds which made it very hard to sleep after 6am.

- Roger (8/5): - The decor was extremely attractive. Parking
- Judy (10/5): Lovely little cottage, beautifully decorated and in a quiet location. - Beautiful little cottage, we had a lovely time. The upstairs area was beautiful, with a lovely bathroom adjoined to it and a great dressing table area which made it easy to get ready in the mornings. Beautifully decorated, quaint and clean. The only thing that was missing was sugar in one of the canisters, other than that it was perfect.
- Hannah (7/5): Nice stay - The property was clean and well presented. Easy access via key safe. The bed was comfortable. Good location in the centre of Cromford which is a quiet place but has a pub and cafe. Only a short drive to Matlock or Black Rocks and the High Peak trail. There are no blinds in the bedroom meaning we did get woken up at sunrise. I would recommend taking an eye mask. Also no coffee provided which would have been a bonus as we arrived late our first night and there wasn't any shops in walking distance to buy essentials.
- Kirty (9/5): A joyful stay in a quirky cottage with beautiful surroundings - The decora ant style was lovely and luxurious The pots snd pand could be better as the pots had no lids. Afew basics like salt pepper and coffee would of been nice.
- Ryan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Natalie (10/5): Exceptional - Every things was perfect
- Franco (7/5): would recommend - excellent location, cosy and love the quirky decor no frying pan, no obvious instructions for microwave so could not use it. Difficult to know where to park was afraid of taking someones space.
- Annalisa (9/5): Superb - Lovely little cottage, a bit hidden but very quiet
- Gill (1/5): Avoid in the winter months - Good location and nicely presented. We had problems with the electrics. The fuse box couldn't cope with having the heating on, so it kept tripping. It was absolutely freezing to the extent that a glass of water left on the chest of drawers overnight had ice in it by morning. We left after one night. Of note, there isn't a source of heating in the bathroom, so showering is unpleasant. Also, there aren't any blinds in the bedroom so a sleeping mask is essential.
- Sue (10/5): Perfect little hide away and very comfortable. -
- Raenor (7/5): Lovely wholesome stay for the night! - The property had so much character, I loved the interior and exterior of this place. The bedside lamp was broken, and it was very cold. Couldn’t see how to work one of the radiators.
Car park access was blocked by a car on one side and the other entry was blocked by a flag, had to move the flag sign to get through. Think this needs to be mentioned in the instructions upon entry.
- Kathryn (10/5): Character cottage full of charm. - The property was within the village centre. Easy access to shops and pubs. Good walks in your doorstep. We found plenty to do. Easy parking next to property or at the back of allotments. The property is well equipped with microwave toaster hob kettle fridge radio tv Wi-Fi. Everything was great.
- Simon (9/5): Great location to explore the peaks. Easy to find and able to park. Really pretty inside just like the photos. Was ideal - Great design and use of space. Really cute unique stay. Highly recommended.
- Chris (8/5): Very good - Cottage decorated well and clean. Directions to park could have been clearer. Maybe use what3words or similar.
Shower tiling needed some fixing.
- Peter (9/5): A lovely stay in an old cottage which was well equipped and clean and secure, wish we could have stayed longer - It’s so quaint and idyllic and the kind of place you dream of living in Nothing
- Brigid (8/5): Convenient stopover which was dog friendly, and near relatives - charming accommodation - Nice decor, quiet, well located - Cromford is well provided for - and accomodation is well equipped and dog friendly Parking was a bit challenging but we found a space
- Katrina (8/5): Very good - Quaint
Boutique vibe
Decor
Small double bed but really comfortable
Location for where we needed Lacked some facilities and when ever we've been away to a cottage the host has put some basics on, coffee etc a pot of milk. It actually says coffee machine so I'd assumed there'd be a couple of pods put out, never thought to message and ask presuming as isn't explained. We went out and found a coffee shop in the end. No oven just the stove top. Longer then a couple of nights would be a struggle.for us.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful cottage with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Only a couple of pubs and two chip shops so not a lot to do on the night. Ended up going out elsewhere on the night
- Nishan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (9/5): A perfect little bolt hole for a trip to the dales - Clean, perfect for a short stop, an excellent alternative to a hotel Nothing
- Daniel (10/5): Peaceful, pretty, convenient, fun and restful. - Really pretty, quaint, idyllic property with great access to the local village being just on the same road as many great spots, and just a short bus away from matlock bath and matlock(bus stop on practically the same road as the property) really well decorated and really comfortable, felt secluded and yet still in a great area for tourism, amazing. Really didn’t have any complaints, the only complain we would have is we couldn’t move in haha.
- Shirley (10/5): Beautiful cottage in great location - Beautiful, quaint country cottage with a lovely interior
- Susan (8/5): Very good -
- Caroline (10/5): Comfy, cosy stay in a beautiful unique little cottage! - It is a fabulous little gem of a place! so beautifully decorated with lovely little original quirky touches. It is super cosy and the has everything you need for a stay. I travelled by train and it was a 15 minute pleasant walk from Cromford train station. There are plenty of local amenities on the doorstep. Really peaceful location - tucked away. There are some nice local walks go go on. The owner gave superb instructions of how to find the place as it could be tricky without those and a mobile number if i needed anything. If i am back in the area i would not hesitate to book again. Nothing really. It is hard to find fault. If i was too be picky there are no blind in the upstairs bedroom, but i took an eye mask so didn't affect me. There is a slight leak in the seal on the shower door (bottom left corner) which did leak on the floor - more for the owner to know as could cause a problem with floors after a period of time and would be easy to remedy.
- Harrison (10/5): Fantastic option for a comfortable stay! - Perfectly located and well appointed with all you need for a comfortable stay. Minor complaint - no milk left for a cup of tea!! But that’s being picky.
- Julie (7/5): Lovely stay - There seems to be Wine glasses missing, the one there leaked… drinking wine from a tumbler wasn’t good…
- Zeiss (10/5): Exceptional -
- Luke (9/5): Superb -
- Kate (10/5): Exceptional -
- Louise (10/5): Absolutely amazing would definitely recommend and stay again - Absolutely beautiful property like a home from home. Absolutely nothing
- Samantha (8/5): Great stay. Beautiful sweet little bolthole - Key code is great as it’s simple and flecibley I feel that there could of been signage of where to park your vehicle
- Cc (9/5): Loved the cottage it was so cozy. I would only recommend to couples or solo travelers and 1 dog only - Bougie interior, quaint cottage There is an access gate to a shared courtyard, but the cottage itself would benefit from its own gate at the end of it's own courtyard, so travelers with dogs can keep them secured.
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Everything! Nothing.
- Leanne (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely, little, cosy cottage. Great location. Could do with some blinds upstairs but that's it. Could also live without them.
- Darren (10/5): Snuggle heaven. So much character and thought gone into it by the host. - Just perfect, lots of character and just right for 2 people. Certainly stay again if we are in the area. No issues, it’s was a cozy little place for a weekend.
- Sarah (10/5): Absolutely perfect weekend bolt hole - Absolutely beautiful picture postcard cottage feel. Small but perfectly formed. Found accommodation to be exceptionally cosy and set in lovely surroundings with blossom tree in the garden.
- Betheny (10/5): Exceptional - We just such a lovely weekend away in Rowan Cottage. The decor was gorgeous and the house just perfectly situated for lovely walks. The village is full of friendly people and we just fell in love with the whole place. N/A
- Mark (9/5): Superb - Great location. Very peaceful. Felt like a home and that a lot of thought and care had gone in to furnishing it. Nothing. But take a torch as the access is dark.
