- Denise (8/5): Overall a pleasant overnight stay. - Really friendly staff, good location, comfortable beds and excellent breakfast. Room cleaning could be better, lots of thick dust on skirting boards and bathroom floor.Shower and sink unit needed a better clean.
- Wale (10/5): -
- Darren (10/5): Very happy with our stay lovely room great breakfast ideally located - Planned a last minute visit to Bolsover castle and needed an overnight stay, couldn’t have picked a better more convenient place it’s right next door.
Arrived at 3:30 met by friendly staff who showed us to the room it was clean with a lovely bathroom a TV with plenty to view comfy bed and a nice bar downstairs.
We didn’t sample the dinners as we had already booked elsewhere but they looked very nice.
We had a breakfast though in the morning which was lovely, full English with orange juice and tea, all the food was quality on the plate we couldn’t fault the breakfast at all.
All in all good value great location lovely staff nice room would stay again when over that way. If I was too be picky just the steepness of the stairs on the top floor, we were aware though so took our time but may not suit everyone maybe request one on lowest floor if it is likely to be an issue.
- Esme (7/5): Ok for the price with very friendly staff. - Very friendly staff. Good food , well presented Ease of getting to our room. On third floor with very steep, narrow staircase. Sink cracked.
- Lee (9/5): - Great location, very smart, comfy rooms with everything you need. Stairs up to the room are a little steep. Ok for us but might be an issue for others.
- Steven (9/5): -
- Sarah (8/5): - Cosy twin room, friendly staff, great breakfast

- kelli (10/5): - The friendliness of the staff, and the amenties, the room was lovely, breakfast fabulous. The proximaty to the castle , literally a stones throw x Nothing, would recommend to anyone
- Melissa (8/5): A really lovely 1 night stay. Would recommend and happily stay again. - It was lovely a quiet overnight. Close to the M1. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were friendly. Parking is very easy. Would recommend. Nothing that stands out
- Ken (10/5): Great room, great hosts, great breakfast, great location, good price. - The room had all that was required, breakfast was very good, hosts were really friendly and helpful. There’s not anything I can complain about
- Ian (10/5): Overnight stop to Swindon - Room was clean tidy and modern and staff very friendly and breakfast lovely but we missed out on an authentic Spanish tapas meal in the restaurant due to our later arrival, but we will try next time
- Anthony (9/5): Lovely place to stay, great people, and excellent food -
- Michelle (9/5): Really nice stay in Newark ! - Lovely rooms in a really nice part of Newark. Excellent communication too from the owners. What a lovely find

- ANDREW (9/5): EXCELLENT ACCOMMODATION & FOOD WITH FRIENDLY & EFFICIENT STAFF - Large and tastefully decorated bedroom area with large bathroom with excellent bath and separate shower.
Well located in centre of town,
Staff very friendly.
Nice bar and restaurant area downstairs. Amazing breakfast with fresh bean coffee.
Had a loft room with high eaves so no height issues. Noise was not a problem.
- Simon (10/5): Great stay in bolsover - Great location. The staff were all really friendly and helpful.
- Helen (9/5): -
- Rob (9/5): - The sanctuary inn was very central, staff were friendly and the room was nice and clean and very cosy,The meal in the restaurant was great and breakfast early next morning was excellent. Nothing
- Caroline (10/5): Gem of a place, 10/10 - From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, I could not fault anything. The building is beautiful, in a great location with ample parking and is easily accesible. The staff are warm and friendly and make you feel very welcome.
We had the pleasure of staying in the lavender room. On arrival to our room, it was airy and fresh. The cleanliness of the room and bathroom were second to none.
The bathroom is exceptional! Beautiful free standing bath and a seperate shower with a waterfall shower head and fantastic water pressure. The bed was lovely and comfortable, plenty of pillows and a good thickness of quilt appropriate to the weather at the time. The velux windows add a lovely amount of light to the room.
The bar is well stocked with a great range. The tapas menu is not huge, but the range offered is ample- enough to meet any palate. The main menu is really good and reasonably priced too, everything looked good and we thoroughly enjoyed our food. The breakfast was fantastic, perfectly cooked eggs, separate beans and a really good size portion.
All of the staff members we came across were really friendly and happy- a good sign of a happy workplace.
We will definately be back and I recommend it to everyone I tell! A real hidden gem this one.
Thank you for a lovely experience Leaving!
Getting out of the shower.

- Elaine (8/5): Very enjoyable. - Good food and atmosphere Steep steps to room
- william (8/5): Very nice - Great staff, very friendly and an amazing breakfast Nothing
- Steven (7/5): - Breakfast and evening meal were good The bath room toiletries were a combination of left overs, no shampoo. The towels were worn and had holes in them. There was a dangerous metal bracket in the low ceiling beam, protected by a bit of cardboard
- Carl (8/5): Great location for my visit staff were great and evening meal and drinks top notch. - Ideal location for my visit made very welcome great food at great prices and loved the real ale.
- Sophie (9/5): Lovely stay , great food comfy room . - Lovely spacious room lovely bath Radiator was hot even though dial was on zero but good ventilation through windows . Didn’t affect us but anyone with mobility issues there are two sets of steep stairs to navigate which isn’t noted anywhere on the booking information on booking.com
- Howard (9/5): -
- David (9/5): Excellent food and service, would definitely stay again if in this area. - Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of condiments. Also just the little things such as including a pot of hot water with the tea, the offer of more toast. Friendly staff and Tapas Tuesday a real bonus. Owners allowed use of car park after check out whilst we visited local attraction. TV in room was a little difficult to use (couldn't find terrestrial TV channels) but not a huge issue for just one night.
- Nigel (9/5): -
- Ray (9/5): -
- Jeannette (8/5): Clean, if plain, twin room. Good meals. Central Bolsover location. Nice garden. - It was centrally placed, a very short walk from the Castle car park. There was a lovely Spanish style garden (with sun to match). The evening tapas was tasty. The included breakfast was also very good. Nothing especially but we stayed mid-week, and were aware that the pub downstairs stayed open later on Saturdays, so wonder whether late noise could be an issue.
- Parris (10/5): -
- Richard (10/5): The room was large and very comfortable. Great hosts and great breakfast. - Location great virtually next door to Bolsover Castle.
Room spacious and very comfortable with large shower room.
Beautifully decorated and warm and friendly hosts.
On top floor of a lovely public house with tapas restaurant. The room was cut off from below and very quiet.
Excellent breakfast. All good
- Steve Procter (10/5): A superb place to stay, dine or both :) - We stayed here last night after trying to visit Bolsover Castle (which sadly was closed due to a bit of ice).
We had a very warm welcome from Steve and the staff, even the patrons in the bar area were very friendly. We booked a table for dinner at 6pm and the food was delicious, home cooked and fresh. The prices were great too. The staff were exemplary and could not do enough to look after us. I had a shandy (as I don't really drink) and they even gave me a small glass of lemonade so I could mix it how I wanted it, amazing. The bedroom was on the top floor so it's nice and quite, and due to the weather being extremely cold they even put an extra electric heater in the room so it was very toasty. The room was clean and very comfortable, all you'd expect in a decent hotel, this was better than many we've stayed in around London etc for double/triple the price. There is ample free car, parking at the back of hotel so you don't need to worry about a parking fine. The whole building is beautifully decorated and is very homely. The breakfast was delicious and my wife had the fruit bowl which she loved. We will definitely be going back to stay and eat, but I warmer weather. Thanks to Steve and all the staff that looked after us. There was nothing that we disliked!
- Simon (8/5): Excellent location, lovely staff - Clean and comfortable rooms Breakfast choice limited
- Ian (9/5): - Location. Staff. Food. Stairs
- Jessica (10/5): The Heart of Bolsolver. - The facilities were absolutely incredible
The hosts were incredibly welcoming and even bumped us up to a double room because they had one available.
The price of the rooms include breakfast! I had a full English and my partner had mushrooms on toast both were incredible.
The food here is outstanding the baked Brie and the ribs from the tapas menu were insanely delicious and the steaks were cooked perfectly.
The bar is clearly the social hub of Bolsolver with a large selection of drinks and a very welcoming atmosphere.
I was initially a little concerned that I would be able to hear the sbr as you stay above it. BUT I can honestly say you can NOT hear anything and it was the best nights sleep I have had in a hotel.
It's in a very quaint setting and the town of Bolsolver is very beautiful.. I recommend Bolsolver castle as a place to visit that and Hardwicke Hall.
Finally the servers and all the staff are absolutely incredible so attentive and polite and very knowledgeable about the area.
If I could rate them higher I would they were so amazing.
Genuinely one of the best places I have ever stayed There was nothing I didn't like
- Natalie (10/5): Fantastic stay. - Lovely room. Very clean and comfortable. Good facilities. Really helpful and friendly staff. The only thing I would say is it would be good to have more tea and coffee supplies with possibly some fresh milk.
- Martin (9/5): Charming Hotel Inn located a stone's throw from Bolsover Castle. - Well appointed, the bedrooms have been decorated and furnished very nicely.
Lovely traditional inn with a cosy snug.
Located very close to Bolsover Castle.
Food was good value for money.
Staff were pleasant and welcoming. Everything was pretty much ideal for my overnight stay.

- Helen (9/5): Excellent service, location and amenities. - Very welcoming staff. Free parking and a nice freshly cooked breakfast. Very handy having the bar downstairs to purchase drinks. Would have been lovely to sit outside in the summer. Would have liked mugs in the room as apposed to cups.
- raymond (9/5): - Nice room very good staff nice food. Very steep stairs for an older person, but my case was carried up for me and as long as you are careful it's OK you just need to be careful.
- Debra (10/5): This place is next level, room was fabulous bed was comfortable, bathroom was picturesque, parking available food was gr - Friendly, welcoming, clean, and great location Nothing

The pub has good food and friendly atmosphere. The twin room is very small. There is a low hum until about 10pm (water heater maybe?) and comes on again at about 8am. You can hear the noise from the pub below.
