Guest Reviews
- Carmen (10/5): Would give a score of 15/10 if I could. - Everything was fabulous, finally someone who cares about their guests Can't think of anything
- Peter (8/5): -
- Christy (8/5): Great location and it’s a cute little home - Great location, the place has a very cute charm to it and everything you need is provided. Nothing
- Dee (10/5): I would stay again it was a beautiful little house - It was perfect for what we needed. Beds very comfortable Mirror in the bathroom is a Smokey mirror . I think it’s meant to light up but didn’t . So getting makeup done for our event with only on other mirror in the house was a little difficult
- Luke (9/5): Great home with all comforts. Access to shops, cafes, restaurants was fantastic - Communication great from owners.
Check in very easy and accommodating
Home was presented better than pictures
- Sean (9/5): Great spot in Daylesford with everything you need from home - Cedar Cottage is spacious enough for a family with everything you may need for a getaway and very close to the centre of the town. A nicer back garden would be the finishing touch, and some attention to the windows as they are a bit fiddly and fragile.
- Tobias (10/5): -
- Soumela (10/5): -
- Marisa (10/5): Gorgeous place. Enjoyed our stay. - It was comfortable warm and inviting No complaints
- Maurice (10/5): -
- Kirsten (10/5): This was outstanding accomodation and service. The house was unique and beautifully decorated it felt like you were trul - This was outstanding accomodation and service. The house was unique and beautifully decorated it felt like you were truly somewhere special. I would highly recommend and hope to stay again. Nothing
- Emma Jane (10/5): Would totally come back. Loved it. Absolutely perfect for our stay. - The style and the furnishings were excellent. Gorgeous property all round. Huge tv. Great bathroom. Loved it all and had a fabulous time. Our hire car almost couldn’t get out of the driveway. No issue with the width or accessing it but definitely think the rocks made it super difficult for the car to get out.
- Christina (6/5): - We liked everything except the 2 items mentioned below. The cottage was not well insulated, cold and breezy, no matter how high we had heaters blaring, we could not seem to warm up. The narrow driveway was a nightmare to get the car in and out of. Apart from lack of insulation and driveway, all was excellent.
- Jason (10/5): A night at this charming accomodation left us feeling refreshed and relaxed. - The charm of the miners cottage and the furnishings captured the true period of the circa 1870s home. The locale on the crest of the hill with seemingless views of Daylesford, added to the character. It was great to only have to walk 8 minutes into town, to enjoy dinner and drinks, without the need to drive. Parking was a little bit tricky.
- Michelle (8/5): Great cosy place to stay, if they removed the tall front fence and made the driveway more accessible it would be a 10 - Nice and cosy. the house was beautiful and warm when we arrived.
The beds were super comfortable. The driveway was a bit difficult to get into. Very tight squeeze.
- WENDY (8/5): The house was lovely and the location was fantastic as well as the check-in. I would recommend. - The house was in a great location. The decor was beautiful and the check-in was very simple. I would recommend this home for anyone visiting the area. The living area was freezing cold even with the heater going. The bathroom was also freezing cold and could really do with a heater or heat lamp in the lights. The kitchen didn’t have a toaster or a microwave which would’ve been handy just for breakfast or easy meals. And instruction with the washing machine would have been helpful as we weren’t too sure on the different settings.
- Geraldine (9/5): We had a great weekend in Daylesfordand lived the cottage - except for those inadequaciesi mentioned. - The cottage was lovely and clean - tastefully decorated, and all requirements provided The heating in the bedrooms was great but heating in the main living area was not adequate.
There were no mirrors other than one wall mirror in the bathroom. At least one full length mirror would be a good improvement.
- Julie (6/5): Very clean and comfortable house, house however as mentioned above, a few details to work on. - The location was great, the house was very clean and tidy. The code was sent to us via text for the front door which was great. We were text about things to do in Daylesford. There was no coffee table in the lounge room, no microwave in the kitchen. We would have loved to enjoy the back deck but there was no outdoor furniture.
- Chino (10/5): - The place was cosy & comfortable.
The owner was really lovely to deal with.
Easy smooth transition.
Has everything that you need and more.
Loved it.
- Lucy (10/5): Great getaway from the city - perfect stay for a group of friends/family! - Electric barbeque, separate toilet, outdoor dining area, quiet neighborrhood despite being on the main road, handy location within walking distance of the shops. Pillows were really bouncy and not that comfortable.
- Caroline (8/5): Short but really happy with the cottage - Beautifully furnished and really comfortable Nothing
- Korale (10/5): - Thank you so much for a beautiful stay!
- Zoe (10/5): -
- patricia (7/5): - Very clean, great location, comfortable bed, lovely linen, spacious, nicely furnished, lovely character home. Beautiful deck No street number or cottage name. Rbbish bin overflowing. No window covering in main living area bar 2 windows. Living room heat didnt feel effective. No deck furniture or access from deck to garden. 1 bedroom no hanging space for clothes
- Gabby (9/5): Wonderful, clean, cosy and close to everything - Beautiful little cottage. Very cosy and welcoming Tight driveway gate
- James (8/5): Lovely home that we’d like to spend more time in, hope to bring my girlfriend back to stay. - Comfortable bedrooms, spacious living areas and bathroom plus a nice walk into Daylesford. Driveway is quite tight to enter, would be good to widen driveway entrance, we noticed someone has broken one gate off its hinges and run over the garden edging.
The shower needs a soap dish and maybe add some body soap, shampoo and conditioner dispensers in the shower too.
There was no milk for the tea/coffee.
Please don’t take this as criticism, just practical suggestions as the house is very nice, just needs a few finishing touches.
- Kelly (10/5): We had a wonderful stay at this cozy cottage in beautiful Daylesford. The three full-sized bedrooms were perfect for our - We loved everything about this property and was a great 1 night stay. The driveway angle, hard property to get in and out of.
- Jan (9/5): - Cedar Cottage was very comfortable and clean and well presented. It was just what we were looking for.
- Jasmine (9/5): - Very clean, great facilities! The driveway / fence is very tight to get into but definitely not a down side if not coming in and out a lot
- Suzanne (10/5): - The cottage was toasty warm on arrival, & remained that way during our stay, except it was a little cooler in the living area of the cottage as no cover on the windows to keep the heat in A microwave would have been handy.
- Karren (5/5): - The positive the beds were comfortable and the home was clean in a good location. This could be a great home to stay at with some love and attention to detail the owner should stay there so they understand the few things they could address that would make a huge difference The negative were the living area lacks appropriate heating and the property had large windows with no window furnishings so no privacy and was absolutely freezing. We were unable to get the property warm and there were dangerous extension cords across the bedroom floor. The home needs some TLC there is no microwave and the oven is missing the know to use it. There is also no visibility to exit the driveway as the new fence blocks the line of sight is quite dangerous. Would not stay here again
- Bryan Matuschka (9/5): Great getaway for a family weekend. - Comfy beds and cosy atmosphere for a relaxing break. Walking distance from main shops so didn't need to use the car. Driveway is extremely tight to get into and there is no close on-street parking.
- Beverley (5/5): Was ok but believe a microwave should be standard as well as coffee and uht milk as a minimum - No supplies other than a couple of tea bags.
No microwave
- Shannon (8/5): Very good - Location was perfect to walk into town.
The beds were very comfortable and the heaters in the bedrooms were fantastic got to -1.
Good value for money Very cold took till next day to warm the house as no heaters had been turned on before we arrived and check in isn't till 3pm. Needs blinds on windows to try and keep the heat in as when it's night time still got cold even with the heater on. Also felt exposed to everyone outside.
Very disgusting utensils were dirty with food still on them.
Back toilet the toilet roll holder kept falling off had to put toilet paper on the floor.
Extremely difficult to get into the drive way.
- Melinda (7/5): Lovely bedrooms and a great location - Location No window coverings in the main living / dining area, which made it a very cold mid-winter visit, even with the heating on.
- Ferguson (5/5): Improvements need to be made - Location It was absolutely freezing cold in the kitchen lounge dining area. No drapes at the windows meant the cold became unbearable. We had the split system on 30 and we were still cold
- Steffany (10/5): The cutest little cottage with the most stylish furnishings. This place is walking distance or a 2 min drive to the Mai - The cutest little cottage with the most stylish furnishings.
This place is walking distance or a 2 min drive to the Main Street.
We stayed in June so very cold however the owners had the heater going before we arrived and each room has its own heater so the place was very cosy. Loved it all!
- Vaia (7/5): Good - Location was great, beds very comfortable Getting into the driveway was problematic - we parked in vacant block next door instead!.
It was cold in the house, except for the bedrooms that had good heating. The bathrooms and kitchen/lounge areas were cold and the heater was insufficient to heat well.
- Amanda (8/5): Very good -
- Yates (8/5): Very pleasant, we did have one little difficulty, there was no number on the house! -
- Marr (7/5): Good - No breakfast. Parking
- Campbell (5/5): Expected more at the price point. Disappointing that a plumber wasn’t sent to get the bath tap working. - Cleanliness, location, heating, heated towel rail, streaming services and internet. Blocks next door were vacant so it was nice and quiet. The driveway is on a hill and extremely narrow and difficult to get in and out of.
Linen was just sheets (no doona covers).
Only 2 tea towels provided (particularly when no dishwasher).
The TV screen and couch were tiny and not adequate for a 3 bedroom house.
Only mirror in the house was tinted so you can’t see.
Washing machine shakes the whole house when in use.
No furniture on the deck.
No microwave or clothesline/clothes hoist provided. The washer/dryer was of poor quality.
No coffee or coffee pod machine, only Nescafé instant coffee sachets which isn’t really in line with the price point of the accommodation.
The bath did not work, we had to fill the bath for our kids using saucepans from the kitchen, I flagged this with the accomodation provider, they never sent a plumber. Acknowledge that it was a public holiday on the Friday, but would have thought a plumber could be sent the following day (on the Saturday).
- Corinne (7/5): Value for money, suited our purpose - Nice house, beds comfortable and suited our purpose. No dishwasher, a little exposed
- Akhil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Connie (8/5): Very good - Proximity to town centre, clean Couch could be a little more comfortable
- Margaret (8/5): Very good - Bedding, comfortable, spacious. No number on front fence.
Your washing machine needs levelling.
- Suzanne (9/5): Superb -
- Laura (7/5): Great for a short retreat - Beautifully designed and super central. Walking distance to the local area. It only had a central air-conditioning unit, the TV was small in size and there were no board games. Sound insulation could be better.
- Leo (9/5): Cosey. Good location. Comfortable beds. - Warm on arrival. Beds very comfortable. Very clean. Well equipped kitchen/ utensils.
Excellent communications. There was no number on the property.
The driveway is difficult but manageable: but caution is necessary pulling out of the driveway. A definite blind spot and unable to see the oncoming cars. I suggest a mirror.
No shower recess. I suggest a small stool for soap etc.
No teabags/coffee. Not a big deal but would have been nice after a long day traveling.
No extra blankets.
- Nicole (7/5): Good -
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Kenneth (8/5): Great for a short stay - Lovely cosy cottage, nice comfortable beds with beautiful linen. Easy walk into the centre of Daylesford. Parking is a challenge. 2 extra dining chairs would be good.
- Gertrude (6/5): Pleasant - Furnishings are very taste full. Location is convenient. Price is good. No where to put toiletries in shower recess
Milk in fridge but no tea or coffee
No hand soap in either of the two dispensers near the second toilet. Both completely empty.
No long length mirror in bedroom
No clothes rack in front blue room
No tissues
- Annie (3/5): Poor -
- Malone (9/5): Superb -
- Lori (8/5): It was very enjoyable and good value - Very comfy beds . Close to shops. Good basic amenities. Comfortable lounge area Bath water ran very slowly. No microwave despite site advertising one
Floor boards had gaps and a loose nail by the outdoor area
- Saroj (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (4/5): Daylesford is a lovely place that l have stayed numerous times and this is the worst place l have stayed. - The location. Verandah has no furniture. It was beautiful weather and we could not sit outside. In addition there are no stairs. Dirty window sills. Items still in freezer from last client. No bin in bathroom. Floor cracks let cool air in at night
As stated in advertising plenty of parking yet it is impossible to get into the driveway with a 4wd. Had to park out in the area up from the home, which is technically not a parking spot.
Over priced for what it is.
- Tanya (8/5): Excellent value for money. Would stay again. - Beds beautifully clean and comfortable. Good price. New bathroom. Backing out the driveway - it’s a bit tight and tricky.
- Wilma (5/5): Passable - The place was clean & tidy & walking distance to the town. The place didn’t have a board with the name Cedar cottage nor was there an address. The given address directed us to a vacant property which was next to the cottage but fenced. As we weren’t sure if it was the correct place, I called the host & she confirmed we were at the right place. It was a very unwelcoming entrance & the bin which was on the right side of the property was overflowing with rubbish & papers & empty boxes scattered on the ground. However, the inside of the house was neat & tidy. We were also disappointed that there wasn’t a microwave in the kitchen. This place can do better if more thought is given to the little things like a bin in the bathroom, a shower caddy to place soap, shampoo etc, mirrors in rooms, block out blinds, a better T.V would have been nice. The doors had handles on the outside but not on the inside, which was annoying as they got stuck sometimes.
There is definitely room for improvement with this property.
- Guy (7/5): Good - TV size
- X (6/5): OK for an overnight stay - Comfy beds
Spacious in the property
Heating in each bedroom I found car parking into driveway for our SUV extremely difficult.
Water flow in bath tap was very slow we couldn't use the bath in the end.
Gust came through the floor board cracks.
Landscaping not yet done...
No proper curtains in living room.
- Huia (10/5): Delightful & Quaint - A lovely quaint home with tasteful decor and furnishings. The beds were super comfy. A light bright home giving a happy energy. Great balcony for watching sunsets and watching the clear night sky.
The home was so delightful that we opted to enjoy more time at Cedar by cooking at home rather than eating out.
We loved our stay, we'll be back again. We loved our stay, the following comments are suggestions for improvement.
Not a major but there wasn't a microwave, this would be helpful for reheating leftovers
Parking is tricky on the first attempt but you learn the tricks quickly from 2nd attempt onwards. Maybe a bit of the fence could be removed allowing more space to drive in on an angle and reverse out on an angle.
- Pajela (8/5): Very good -
- Vivienne (8/5): Very good -
- Dale (7/5): Perfectly appropriate for a stay in Daylesford. - Clean, cosy and convenient I always appreciate the nice touches like some bread, eggs, coffee machine, games, which we often enjoy when staying at houses in Daylesford, but there wasn’t much like that here. Suggest those small touches can make a big difference to someone’s stay.
- Dina (10/5): Exceptional - Great space, Great location, excellent value for money, hosts / agents were very accommodating, immaculately clean, lovely decor, all amenities supplied, very comfortable and stylish.
- Roberts (9/5): Cedar Cottage was really good. Thank you. - The heaters were on when we arrived and the cottage was lovely and warm. Everything is new and the style of the place is impressive. We felt instantly at home. The rubbish bin could have been bigger. We had a bit of trouble navigating the TV.
