Guest Reviews
- IAN (10/5): Lovely hotel in a lovely place - I love little Brough, it's a hidden gem and the hotel was a lovely place to stay. The staff were very friendly, the hotel clean and tidy, the room very comfortable, the food was good and parking was easy

- gary (10/5): Wonderful place to visit, a hidden gem. - From the moment we arrived the gent that checked us in was very friendly and entertaining, turned out he was also the bar manager, he offered us drinks while we checked in and set us up a tab straight away.
The reception, bar and restaurant are very well designed and where very warm and comfortable.
The room was first class, facilities where excellent, we even had a proper coffee machine in the room.
We stayed in 7 locations over 7 nights and this was by far the best.
Food was defiantly 5 star and some, highly recommended. That we only stayed for one night.
- Maureen (7/5): Ok.. prob would not stay again as expensive for what you get . - The staff were so friendly . Great location Our bed was small. Also it was next to the room where they store bedding , towels etc and was noisy early morning and woke us up.
The dinner menu was not to our liking .
- Evie (10/5): -
- Fiona (8/5): - Great breakfast!
- Glenn (10/5): This hotel was brilliant. Abbie & Caroline were fantastic and made our stay really enjoyable. We will be contacting - This hotel is absolutely gorgeous! It’s so clean, decorated well, food is amazing and the staff are wonderful! Even the locals were incredibly friendly and welcoming. Absolutely nothing, we will 100% be returning and recommending to others.
- sophie (10/5): - I loved the staff - especially Sophie on reception, very friendly, and the lovely lady doing breakfast on the 29th… Sandra? She was ace - your best asset is your staff - heavenly kind thank you
- MICHAEL (8/5): A stopover. We had a good evening meal, a comfortable bed and a great breakfast to set on our way. - Location All good
- Matthieu (7/5): - Tout était parfait sauf le lit. Ultra mou. Dommage. Sinon j'aurais mis 10/10.

- Steve Hodge (10/5): - Dinner was excellent as was breakfast. Very friendly and responsive service. Easy parking

- Tracey (10/5): -
- Paul (10/5): - What a lovely place to stay, the rooms are modern, spotless and very comfortable the food was great
- DAVE (10/5): - Good check in experience and a very nice room. The WiFi was very good and the breakfast excellent. Large car park to the rear of the property. Close to the A66 with some traffic noise but the double glazing kept most of it out. Would definitely stay again. Nothing.
- Lynn (10/5): Fabulous hotel in a great location to explore the surrounding area. - The hotel is beautifully done, everything was immaculate and the staff were fantastic - very helpful, thoughtful and friendly. The food was amazing, we dined on the first night and the breakfast was exceptional. We had an accessible garden suite and the whole place was wheelchair friendly. I couldn't fault this hotel at all.
- Mariam (10/5): -
- Robert (4/5): Disappointed. Would be really lovely on a wet Wednesday in November but on a busy Saturday in August , not so much - Comfortable room , excellent food, friendly staff We were booked for Saturday and the hotel had two functions on. Restaurant was in use for one group and lounge was therefore repurposed as dining area. Local football supporters had filled the bar and overflow area with no seats available for us on arrival so we spent three hours in the room. Dinner was spoilt by the extreme noise from functions and ( mainly ) from bar area and dining area was sparse so all the noise echoed around. Again no place to sit for an after dinner coffee/drink
- James (9/5): -
- Lisa (10/5): Stayed here for a wedding which was held nearby.missed breakfast but staff kindly allowed us to have pastries from the b - Very friendly staff

Great breakfast.
Staff very accommodating and welcoming.
Great location if attending a wedding at Eden Barn Nothing
- Nigel (10/5): - Very friendly, lovely location, quiet, great food.
- Ken (10/5): - Beautiful, clean , great staff Nothing
- David (8/5): Comfortable, Excellent Location - just needs footf - Very handy position on the A66, but quiet. Bar prices inline with other establishments. Food excellent but pricey.
Comfortable room, and Staff excellent - considering the one young man was doing everything. Bar, Food, Reception etc
A bit concerning we appeared to be the only 'Guests' staying?
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely boutique hotel - Lovely hotel with attentive and friendly staff, a very comfortable room and excellent breakfast food (freshly cooked with a choice of hot options); evening meal also excellent, well worth the price. No road noise, plenty of parking. Be sure to say if you need a mobility friendly room. Nice cafes, pubs, shops in nearby Kirkby Stephen.
- Emma (1/5): - Staff Middle of nowhere. Bar full of rough locals and loud music. Atrocious food. Certainly not a boutique hotel the website would suggest. Awful.
- Simon (10/5): Great place to stay over on the way back from Scotland. Will definitely be back for local walking and more exploration. - Absolutely everything - great decor and very freshly done up. Food was really good and the staff were so helpful and dedicated. Good location with great access to car park and with accessible parking close to the entrance. Absolutely nothing to dislike about this hotel.
- Michalska (10/5): Exceptional - Late arrival possible. Clean , large carpark. Clean . Very comfortable bed non
- David (10/5): Wedding do stop over - The flexibility about turning up early for a wedding event. There was nothing i didn't like. Can't fault it.
- Wright (9/5): Superb -
- Phil (6/5): ok but not good value for money - Breakfast very good other than coffee but there again uk hotel coffee is nearly always sh*t Room was very hot - expensive for what it was
- Pamela (5/5): Passable - The food and the staff Very small bed . Comfy double . I would question that it was an actual double bed. I say it was a 4'bed. Unfortunately 2 small people were unable to sleep in the bed.
- Mickd (9/5): Superb -
- Carol (9/5): Lovely - Friendly staff & beautiful surroundings Nothing really may be a 11.00 check out
- Paul (10/5): If you are looking for a hotel in the area, then I would thoroughly recomend The Wilding Hotel - Fantastic Restaurant, Hotel Room and especially the staff
- Ian (10/5): Very enjoyable stay in a nice hotel with friendly staff and will stay again when visiting the area. - The hotel was in a perfect location as we were visiting friends and for us also convenient for visiting the Lakes and Dales. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the room very clean and above expectations. It has a very large car park albeit it a bit dusty but to be be expected as there had been no rain for weeks. There was a great choice for breakfast.
We did not eat in the restaurant as we were out all day returning late evenings but did get back to make use of the bar. There was nothing not to like for us it was ideal.
- Laura (9/5): Beautiful spot. Wonderful staff. Exceptional food. A gem! -
- Tim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Holly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Evans (10/5): From booking in we had a lovely stay with friendly staff and comfy accommodation and delicious food - The staff and locals were very friendly, overall, the hotel had a lovely atmosphere, the food was very tasty although smaller portions as an option would’ve been good. It’s hard to find fault, the only thing that was missing for me was decaf coffee as an option after my meal, but it didn’t spoil our stay
- James (10/5): Lovely stay at the Wilding - Lovely place nice friendly staff and good food. Decor has been done tastefully and in keeping with the age of the building
Recommend to anyone who fancied something not a large chain hotel
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Murdy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Penelope (10/5): Friendly family run hotel - The hotel is a beautifully refurbished old coaching inn on the banks of Swindale Beck in the Eden district of Cumbria. Everyone was welcoming and friendly and our room was spacious and spotless. We had a delicious evening meal of local lamb and plenty of fresh vegetables. Breakfast was equally good. We had a walk around Brough village which has a castle with adjacent dairy farm and café selling their ice cream and milk. There is also an Andy Goldsworthy installation in the primary school grounds. Nothing
- Tracey (10/5): Wonderful place to stay - Beautifully decorated, very comfortable rooms with extremely friendly staff. Excellent food. Nothing

- Richard (10/5): - Lovely hotel. Will say before all else - the food was amazing! Breakfast was brilliant but we also ate in the restaurant the night of and this was delicious. Would drive 1.5hours to come back again! Otherwise the hotel seems to be a little hidden gem. Staff very welcoming to us (and 2 under twos - always a challenge). Very accommodating, great communication and friendly. Hotel itself situated nicely near local castle to explore and easy footpath walks behind the hotel into the hills/by a little stream. Room was spacious, clean with a few nice extra touches like hot choco etc which are always welcome. Would come back.
- Jon (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): An upmarket Hotel - Really upmarket accommodation. Immaculate. Unfortunately no dinner available on Tuesday evenings and didnt appear to be any other dining facilities in Brough.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Dinner and breakfast excellent. Highly recommend for a short break away as a base for exploring this beautiful area. Nothing.

- Tom (10/5): Exceptional - Wilding Hotel was absolutely stunning, staff really make this place warm and friendly. Especially the lady serving breakfast, so personable and professional. The whole place was spotless our room was next level. The bed was so comfy and full size bath was a dream. Also had an evening meal which was lovely an great for the price. Staff very helpful & polite
Food was all delicious
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lizzie (9/5): Superb - good value for money stay, friendly staff, nice breakfast the property do list this so it’s not their fault but the double bed is really very small in the cozy rooms so we struggled to sleep and I wish I’d paid a bit extra for the king room

- Ann (10/5): A warm friendly welcome, lovely room, good food, easy express check out. - Spotlessly clean, the staff were friendly and welcoming. Good food, the breakfast was really good. Nothing not to like. I had a great stay.
- Andrew (8/5): Lovely Hotel - The reception to the hotel was very beautiful as was the dining room and bedrooms. We stayed in the bungalow suite and found the rooms were spacious and the beds comfortable. Staff were great and friendly and breakfast really nice. Our only criticism would be no wardrobe in the main bedroom needed some additional rethinking even if a rail on the old fireplace wall and somewhere to put things i the smaller room but understand with the rooms being accessible they very limited
- Thomas (10/5): A stay that significantly exceeded our expectations! - A really lovely hotel that was fantastic value for money. A clean room, really tasty food and just lovely staff who couldnt do enough for us, especially the lady at breakfast! nothing
- Alan (10/5): Luxurious modern yet cosy and homely! Loved it! - Oh how I’ve missed hospitality that only northerners can get right! Absolutely perfect from start to end. Beautiful hotel, delicious food, luxurious furnishings and little extra touches like the sparkling elderflower in the room!
