- sonia (9/5): - Was warm cosy and well equipped, deceptive in size .
Apples from the garden an extra treat
Loved the utility room with a washer and dryer, always great when travelling with kids. Not enough room in the downstairs bedroom for suitcases, but not a major drama
- Roger (9/5): Comfortable cottage for exploring this area of southern Scotland. - Cottage was comfortable with plenty of space and furniture and a wonderful, wild garden. We enjoyed cooking several meals there but would have appreciated a few more utensils such as something for measuring ingredients.
- Joanne (10/5): Home from home, very comfortable for our weeks holiday - Lovely location and spotless. Lots of space in the house and the garden
- jane (10/5): - The cottage was absolutely amazing and the beautiful garden went on forever. We had some lovely days out taking in the beautiful surrounding areas Galloway forest Wigtown Galloway house and gardens and the stone circles. Bladnoch distillery and bladnoch inn gave us a very warm welcome we had an amazing break will definitely be returning loved it thank you. Nothing that we didn't like.
- Celia (10/5): Exceptional - Great location.
Spacious house and a lovely garden.
We spent a lot of time in the conservatory enjoying the light and sitting at the garden table.
Very handy for Wigtown, Galloway House Gardens and Rigg Bay, Isle of Whithorn and the Galloway forest.
Clean and well equipped.
Would love to come again

- Carole (9/5): A fantastic cottage. A home from home and more - relaxing in every way. - The property was very spacious but had a cosy feel at the same time.
It was very clean and comfortable and provided everything we needed or might need.
Heating worked very well.
Easy to park outside. The long, back part of the garden was a bit dark and overgrown for us but the patio area was more than sufficient and plenty big enough for a family or larger group to sit and enjoy.
- Barbara (10/5): We hoped for a comfortable cottage,in a quiet location, within easy access of interesting places to visit…we got the lot - It’ was both quirky and quaint ,and offered every comfort we could wish for. Everywhere was so very clean. The finishing touch was the long and secret cottage garden .it went on for ever, and housed a lovely apple orchard. Nothing
- David (10/5): Exceptional - The house so nice, the garden fantastic, the localisation
- Charlotte (10/5): Absolute Must - Everything, the cottage, was beautiful and absolutely blew me away.
We came to Scotland on our 10 year old request, and what a choice it was, we were all blown away on the size and beauty of the cottage.
It had all the amenities you could need, the wood, etc was available to have a fire in the lounge that the dogs loved.
The rooms were clean, fresh and comfy, the garden was lovely and secure ☺️
The girls appreciated the foosball table in the conservatory and the mountain of books and games that we could play with.
We could have stayed here for longer than we booked, very sad to leave, but hope to be back 🥰
Thank you to Gail and Ken for being wonderful hosts and providing such an informative welcome pack.
I also fell in love with Gail's bladloch botanics products, which are used in the home 💕
Plenty of adventures to be had and a fabulous base to sleep and chill in of an evening..
Thank you so much..

- Sarah (10/5): Really enjoyed our stay at Apple Cottage, hope to return soon! - Great cottage, well equipped with everything that you could need during your stay. Loved the sun room, we spent the majority of our time in there and the tumble dryer was very handy after we got soaked through walking the dogs one day. Nothing
- Norman (10/5): Very comfortable base to explore the Galloway peninsulas. - Spacious, clean and comfortable. Loved the sun room and used one of the log burners one evening. And the garden went on for ever! Beautiful. Battled with ants in the kitchen all week - time of year I guess
- Robert (10/5): Apple Cottage is worth every penny, a great property in a fantastic location with helpful hosts. - Apple Cottage was lovely to stay in. It was very spacious, beautifully decorated, and a brilliant location with proximity to Wigtown and Newton Stewart as well as excellent views (especially at night). The hosts were very communicative and welcoming, providing lots of great info about the area and kindly helping when we accidentally left an item at the property. The rooms were all comfortable and cosy, and electric blankets on the beds were such a nice touch as well. The hosts also left us some gifts such as a ginger loaf which we thought was very considerate. Overall, we felt that a lot of effort had been put in to ensure we had a good stay and it definitely made a big difference. The location is slightly diffcult to reach from where we were coming from (the Glasgow area) and we found roads in the area difficult to drive on and navigate. However this was definitely worth it for the quality of the stay when we did eventually make it to the cottage, and I would even go as far as to say the remoteness of the location is necessary to get such amazing views of the night sky.
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stewart (10/5): A delightful cottage in a delightful area - we will definitely be returning! - Apple Cottage is beautifully decorated, and incredibly spacious - the photos don’t do it justice. The cottage is warm, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped with games and books for cold evenings in front of the fire. Nothing - the cottage was even better than hoped.
- Maxine (10/5): Exceptional -
- Clare (10/5): As above and would certainly return to stay in the cottage. - Cottage was extremely clean and comfortable with extensive delightful garden.
There was easy access to the Wigtown book festival which is why we were there followed by a very scenic trip to Isle of Whithorn. Nothing.
- Griffiths (10/5): Stunning and relaxing , high spec and well designed and thought out cottage - Cottage was absolutely stunning , newly renovated with fresh and clean everything - everything was considered to make your stay so comfortable.
The icing on the cake is the beautiful garden which is mature and well rendered and goes on and on and on .
Absolutely over the moon with this property which we booked very last miniute . Only gripe I can think of was limited easy walking outside of cottage with dogs . As being on main road and one street in the hamlet very narrow paths to cross bridge etc . Had to drive out which wasn’t an issue but worth considering if you want to go long dog walks from cottage . The large garden more then compensated for us and being a short drive to amazing beaches meant it really was not a problem and to be honest this is the only down side I can think of . Everything else was well above expectations. Well done Gail and Ken a truly lovely holiday home and the hosts couldn’t do enough for you
We will be back for sure .
