Guest Reviews
- Mathilde (9/5): I recommend this homestay if you want to experience true Fijian family life. Jalome and Maria are very welcoming. Maria -
- Giulia (10/5): AMAZING - Maria and her husband are the kindest and warmest people, they make you feel so loved and welcomed - treat you like family. I loved EVERYTHING, a real authentic Fijian experience. I was solo travelling and never felt lonely, I met some lovely people at the homestead and went on a day trip organised by jeleme. It was so special. Maria cooks a feast everyday and yummy cakes, missing laughing with her and wish I could stay longer. Definitely will come back, Much love !
- Isabel (10/5): A very special place. Thank you Maria and Jo x - The best holiday I’ve ever been on! I was nervous as it was my first time solo-travelling. But Jolame and Maria took me in like I was family, making me feel so comfortable and welcome. The home cooked food was so fresh annd plentiful and the room was great. I was so glad I spent 6 nights here because by the end I really felt part of the village, with the kids doing my hair and everyone saying Bula! to each other…. I’m already trying to work out when I can go back and I’ve not even left Fiji yet! It truly is a very special place. Thank you Maria and Jo x -also quick note, I really recommend doing the Ori Island tour and Around the Village tour Nothing.
- Marilyn (10/5): It was everything I wanted to experience, the house, the friendliness of the entire village, our experiences on our adve - The entire experience showed the real Fijian lifestyle. Nil
- Pierre (10/5): - I loved it, A very attentive and welcoming family!
- Finotti (10/5): - We stayed 4 nights at Jolame's homestay and had a really great time. The location was incredible, the people were fantastic, kind, friendly, and very welcoming. They made you feel at home. Highly recommended.
- Agata (9/5): - Everything! This experience can not be compared with anything. The best food, the best hosts, and the best village in the world. I've left a part of my heart there, and I hope I will come back one day to retrieve it.
- Virginie (10/5): A stay at Jolame is a warm and authentic experience where you immediately feel welcomed like family, - Jolame et Maria are incredibly attentive hosts who go above and beyond to make you feel like part of the family. Maria’s cooking is delicious, flavorful, and truly authentic. I highly recommend their homestay and will most likely return in the future.
- Janet (9/5): - Maria and Jolame were warm and welcoming hosts. Maria is a great cook!
The village people were really friendly and I had cute interactions with the children. Would recommend to stay longer to experience the village life in a fuller way and give them time to get to know you. My window was next to the eating area, so a bit noisy in the morning before breakfast
- Margot (8/5): Nice place to live in the village - Jolane and Maria are really kind and you will live in the middle of the village with them. The food is incredible. We went shark-snorkelling with Jolane and was really amazing. The fan in the room stops after 2 hours, making it impossible to sleep at night with the heat.
- Peter (10/5): Stay here if you like to have an amazing time in a stunning location. Miss you both already! - If you find yourself looking for an authentic and absolutely brilliant homestay in Fiji then this is it. Just got back today and wanted to sing its praises. Jolame and Maria are wonderful. Maria’s laugh lights up a room, just as much as her food is completely unforgettable and very tasty and plentiful. Jolame is also lovely, helpful and full of local knowledge. Nothing is too much to ask.
The bed was very comfortable, the house itself is also very clean and homely. This is a homestay on a remote island, so don’t expect there to be all the comforts of a hotel or resort. However, you don’t need them. There’s enough to be comfortable and you will have the best time, whether you stay for a few days or a whole week. You will be welcomed into the village with open arms, particularly if you take the time to talk to people and get involved with what you can in village life, particularly going to the church. The only very minor thing, is it can get very hot and sticky at night. There are fans, but only battery powered ones (due to electricity being only solar) that unfortunately only last half the night. Not all nights were too bad, but a couple were pretty hot and sticky.
- Scott (10/5): Wonderful experience, highly recommend! - Lovely family, amazing home cooked food, great Fijian experience!
- Terry (10/5): A trip that we will treasure for a long long time.thanks so much for looking after us - A taste of real Fijian village life. Maria and Jolame and their extended family really welcomed us to be part of their family while we were there for our 6 day stay. Maria’s cooking is fantastic! Maybe a new hammock to replace the rope one by the beach would be an idea. The rope one isn’t very comfy!
