Guest Reviews
- Pat (1/5): DUMP __ STEER CLEAR __UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE ELECTROCUTED OR SOMETHING - Not alot.. The shower was electrically live .. Ridiculous dump-owner said they had it checked after previous victim complained,,
No microwave. owners excuse was they don't use one .. well as far as I'm concerned i pay good money and expect basics.
Couch was probably found in a tip
Notes all over the place --I.e. "turn this switch on --turn this 1 off ..You need to turn on bout 3 different things to get a bit of hot water
Towels were so small they wouldn't dry a child
This DUMP should not be listed here,
- Joe (6/5): We as a family made the most and had a spectacular time but wouldn’t stay at the house again - Location for lock shrine and open fire although nothing was left to light the open fire! No hot water for shower the Wi-Fi didn’t work the house is almost impossible to find up a long narrow over grown lane!
- Kunal (6/5): -
- Michael (3/5): Disappointed - The neighbours horse in field Not sure where to start couldn’t find place directions not the best with the post code takes you up the neighbours drive, no instruction on how to switch hot water on so had to wait for 3hrs following day before being able to have a shower, to then get a shock from The shower which, I when reporting felt like vendor knew about it as I was told they had it tested, they need to get someone who’s qualified if they have been told it’s ok. Settee although a throw over was put on it which was a nightmare the photos show the state of it, building materials around the property and adjacent property with no outside light working which was a hazard.
- Siobhán (6/5): Pleasant - Quiet, clean, comfortable I’m suggesting these things as a way of improvement and not a criticism and not an overly big deal:
1. Perhaps a clear sign at the start of the lane section of the driveway as although I had the directions on my phone I was unsure whether to proceed.
2. The grass on the lane itself and the garden would have been nicer cut. It’s a foot long in the garden which meant we couldn’t have enjoyed sitting outside.
3. The lock on the front door was very stiff and hard to open.
4. A welcome pack explaining how the heating and the hot water works would have been helpful.
5. Lack of Microwave
- Maggie (10/5): Exceptional - Very comfortable and peaceful would highly recommend it
- Louise (1/5): Bad -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ellen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jack (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steven (9/5): Superb - Lovely rural location Nothing
- Michaela (7/5): Good location ideal for couple with dogs - Rooms comfortable, big open fire. Lovely peaceful location and plenty of space for dogs to run Heating stopped working and Internet was not working. Thanks to Neil for getting heating fixed, as can be cold without it.
- Josephine (10/5): Fantastic - Higgins House was perfect for our stay. Owner was particularly helpful. House was clean and well equipped, everything we needed was at hand. Would 100% recommend and will definitely be making a return visit. There was nothing that we didn't like
- Helen (8/5): Very good - Just to let you know the timer on the heating was not working. Otherwise everything was excellent
- Michael (10/5): Quiet Country Retreat - A very quiet rural setting, a world away from where I live in Dublin city. Nothing
- Maryann (7/5): Good -
- Mona (10/5): The Higgins House was a perfect fit for us! Cozy and clean, in a beautiful area of Ireland! - The location was perfect for our visit. We loved the fireplace. The shower had great water pressure. Such a beautiful setting, quiet and peaceful.
- Wendy (5/5): Could be fabulous - Good location although glad we arrived in daylight as hard to see house name on rock at end of drive and could do with another sign where the drive changes to track to confirm you’re to continue. Cottage has lovely views and a very private garden space surrounded by open countryside.
The layout is good and excellent there is an ensuite bathroom to both double bedrooms. These comments are intended to help the host improve the cottage, our stay was comfortable enough but could have been made better by addressing some of these items
General cleanliness wasn’t great although our host did say their usual cleaner wasn’t available
We were plagued with an influx of wood lice in one of the bathrooms every day they seemed to be getting in round the toilet pipe work which perhaps could be sealed more effectively.
The front door wouldn’t open which was just inconvenient as everything had to be taken round the back
There was probably just enough crockery and cutlery for 4, could do with a few extras.
Could do with a getting started information pack for the hot water, heating, oven etc.
- Michael (10/5): A cozy get-away. - Absolutely beautiful interior, clean & everything you need in perfect working order Promised wi-fi, was not available at my stay.
- Hayes (10/5): Exceptional - Very quiet well off of the road. Plenty of towels soap etc. Nice size rooms and good showers. Fully equipped for a family washing machine toaster kettle fridge etc. We would stay again.
Plenty of cows horses and sheep in the vicinity.
You will definitely need a car. Approx 20 minutes from Swinford large Tescos and shopping. If you like a powerful shower this is the place for you. Only comment to make no ironing board but there was a very good quality iron.
Please take this as a very minor quibble.
The house is very nice.
- Damien (10/5): Exceptional - Everything 💥💥💥💥💥 Noting all good 👍
- Vasiliy (10/5): Great place, good location and excellent for dogs too. - Wi-Fi was not available during our stay.
