Guest Reviews
- Turley (10/5): - From the moment we arrived Kaye made us very welcome.
We sat out on the balcony in the Sun and soaked up the amazing views and fantastic Garden's. The house is a lovely place to stay. The Breakfasts are very nice and plenty of choice being continental. Lots to do close by .Kate advised us on restaurants and things to do close by too. Highly recommend staying here.looking forwards to staying later in the year.
- John (9/5): Excellent location for exploring Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire - The property was in an excellent location with beautiful views to the sea. We loved the seating area overlooking the sea from our room. Excellent continental breakfast and friendly host.
- Natasha (10/5): - We had a lovely stay at Powis Cottage over Easter. The room was spotless, comfortable and had everything we needed. The views were beautiful and the location was perfect for exploring Laugharne and the surrounding area. Breakfast was excellent, the coffee was especially good, and Kaye was a wonderful host - warm, welcoming and thoughtful throughout our stay. We also loved the little Easter eggs and hot cross buns, which were such a lovely touch. We would happily return and highly recommend it.
- Ali Rose (10/5): Powis Cottage is a haven nestled in nature, full of soul with a great host and delicious breakfast. - I would have no hesitation in recommending Powis Cottage to anyone wanting a relaxing getaway in a beautiful part of Wales.
We stayed at Powis Cottage because we were there for the Laugharne Festival, around 2 miles away. From the start, Kaye was so accommodating and helpful, calling us a couple of days before to make sure we had the right directions. Kaye even drove us into Laugharne each morning and offered to pick us up on the last night!
The house itself has all modern facilities but retains plenty of soul, which is a balance that can sometimes be hard to get right. It's peppered with thoughtful artwork and homely touches while the beautiful garden, trees, stars at night and birds including owls meant we felt anchored in nature. Our bedroom was spacious and very comfortable. Everything was immaculate, but not so that you're scared to touch anything!
Each morning Kaye left a tray of coffee which we enjoyed on our terrace and when we came downstairs her dog, (an elderly, gentle and completely loveable lady) Coco greeted us with tail wags and affection. We loved her!
Breakfast was laid out on the terrace overlooking the beautiful scenery which stretches to the sea and across 3 counties. The breakfast easily matches - or actually surpasses - any of the breakfasts I've had in hotel stays. Fresh fruit, juice, different toasted breads, range of cereals, toppers, yoghurt, muffins or banana bread. Little things such as kilner pots of stemmed ginger, walnuts and dates which really make a difference. Kaye even made boiled eggs for my husband. All presented beautifully.
We actually felt sad leaving! It really is a haven and we will be back. The only thing we didn't like was having to leave!!
- Rob (8/5): Very good in all respects - Breakfast was fine and well presented and the locatin and its view were exceptional
- Pamela (10/5): - The location is just outside the lovely small town of Laugharne which is full of character , charm and history. The house definitely has a wow factor with spectacular views. Our host was welcoming and gracious and made it a home from home. There is no down side .
- Oliver (10/5): Excellent - Quiet, beautifully, calming, stunning view.
- Nahida (10/5): Had a lovely stay, Kay was very polite and welcoming….would have loved to stay for longer! Definatley worth the stay - Lovely and homely with beautiful views
- Liz (10/5): Best bnb in Wales. - Absolutely fab. What a house. What a host. What a view. Faultless.
- Gary (10/5): A restorative and peaceful Hill top Sanctuary. - Powis Cottage sits atop a hill with spectacular views through an expanse of windows. Our bedroom was spacious and included everything we needed for our 6 night stay.
Breakfast was timed according to our preferences and the breakfasts were superb. Each morning we enjoyed fresh fruit, an enormous selection of cereals and homemade extras like baked eggs, pancakes and savoury or sweet muffins. Delicious.
Kate gave us advice for daily trips and we met up in the evenings to share our day's experiences. She was very hospitable. Always ready with pots of tea and slices of the nicest homemade cake.
The decking outside the bedroom was great for stepping out to listen to the birds and we could read out there at the table provided.
It was tranquil and easy paced, perfect for a well needed break.
And Coco, the Labradoodle, stole our hearts. She asked for no more than a tummy tickle to get her tail swishing.
Thank you Kaye. Thank you Coco. You were impeccable Hosts. We found everything to be of the best quality and can therefore not complain about anything.
- Allan (10/5): All you could want in a B&B Kaye the host went out of her way to make us welcome the food provided was excellent - Well designed property very very comfortable No negatives
- Pauline (9/5): Fantastic location, great host, wonderful food and spacious well equipped room . - We stayed for 5 nights and it was a delight. Kaye is a wonderful and hospitable host with a lot of knowledge of Carmarthenshire and Laugharne. The continental breakfast was fab and the views from our room were breathtaking. We would definitely stay there again if in the area. Coco the lovely friendly dog was an added bonus. The bathroom was lovely and clean and spacious, the shower was not very powerful but worked well enough.
- Alan (5/5): Mixed - The host was amazing the place was spotless the views was great No lock on the bedroom door and when we went out we realised on coming back the host must have came in and took our rubbish bag out wich means she must have oped the bag to see it was rubbish as we closed it over to take with us when we left. You can't use the bath only the shower it was not mentioned on booking.com that it was a shared accommodation with the host.
- Catherine (10/5): A well kept, clean and cozy place to explore the local area - Kaye was an attentive host who went above and beyond to ensure that we had what we needed for an enjoyable stay. Breakfast each morning was varied and plentiful and our room was comfortable and clean. Nothing to say here.
- Wendy (10/5): Exceptional - Kaye is a perfect host. Lovely house.Superb location
Excellent breakfast. Many thoughtful touches. We would thoroughly recommend Powis Cottage.
- Caroline (10/5): Overall it was an excellent mini staycation and there is lots to enjoy along the coast. - We had a fantastic stay - Kaye was the perfect host - very welcoming and there was a lot of attention to detail. The king-size bed was super comfy, the room perfect for what we needed, breakfast was delicious including home-baked bread and cake and she even offered to take us into Laugharne if we wished. We opted for a return taxi journey (very reasonable) on our last evening so we could enjoy a drink with our food. The view from the balcony is stunning and the house is nestled within a lovely garden space that offers a relaxing environment. Just a note that the fabulous bathroom is only for sharing if you are staying with another family member or friend. We would definitely book again. Thank you Kaye
- Michael (8/5): Friendly host maybe need a longer stay. - Not what I expected but plentiful.
Usually expect a cooked breakfast. Choice’s could be improved.
- Nicholas (10/5): Comfortable and relaxing - I liked the architecture and the position, the views and the garden were amazing. Kate was a very gracious host. It would have been good to have an en suite bathroom but as there were no other guests it was not an issue.
- Ann (9/5): Exceptional homestay and lovely host - We had a lovely 4-night stay at Powis Cottage during July 2024. The cottage has a modern open plan layout designed by the host and is stylishly decorated throughout with brilliant artwork. The guest rooms have their own balcony with views out across the Pendine plain to the sea, with Gower’s Worm’s Head to the left and Caldey Island to the right framing the view nicely. The cottage is surrounded by woodland and its own gardens. There’s easy parking right outside the cottage. Kaye (and Coco the dog) live in the cottage and provides an excellent breakfast each day and good company making you feel part of the family.
There are good options for eating in Laugharne including the famous Brown’s Hotel (not veggie friendly) Poon’s Thai place, and the Three Mariners pub. The restaurant at Dylan’s Resort is also open to the public – it’s a grand place with views out over the rivers and sea. nothing to do with the accommodation but to note need to drive everywhere or can get a local taxi.
- Judith (9/5): Superb -
- Mick (10/5): Truly special experience - You very soon run out of superlatives when describing Powis Cottage. The position of the futuristic, eco-friendly house offers stunning views of the Gower and across the Bristol Channel to Somerset. Kaye is a catering professional and it shows in the wonderful treats she served throughout our visit - she is also able to provide evening meals if ordered in advance. This is, by far, the best Booking.com experience we have enjoyed in any of our UK or overseas holidays. It is true that there was nothing that was less than excellent.
- Alexander (10/5): Welcoming cottage up in the hills providing exceptional value which exceeds expectations - Up in the South Wales hills, you'll find Powis Cottage - a perfect getaway spot managed by the lovely Kaye and her beautiful dog Coco. We felt immediately welcomed and thoroughly enjoyed our two-night stay. The room was fantastic with wonderful views across the fields and out to the Bristol Channel and everything was well laid out with plenty of thought about what guests may require during their stay. Kaye was a brilliant and informative host who was easy to get along with and her breakfasts kept us well fuelled for the days we spent exploring the nearby areas and beyond. Each morning she would give us some homemade treats and bag them up for us to eat while we were out - I would recommend the banana bread - this was such a lovely touch. The entire experience exceeded our expectations and was great value, I would absolutely recommend staying here and we will definitely be coming back with so much still to see and do in the area. The cottage was slightly difficult to find at first because we drove in from Pendine and the postcode does not take you to the cottage itself - Kaye had sent instructions which did not come through so this was an issue with Booking.com. If you struggle like we did turn around in the layby next to the funeral directors and drive a short distance back towards Pendine and up the red road.
- Peter (10/5): Wonderful in so many ways. - We liked everything about our stay, Kaye and her lovely dog, Coco were good hosts. The property is beautiful and the view from bedroom verandah outstanding . Breakfast was varied, multi choice of cereals, fruit, pancakes etc. Many places of interest within easy reach, both seaside villages and market town of Narberth worth a visit. Kaye makes you feel “at home” when it’s not your home !! Can’t think of anything ………,
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional - We had a lovely stay at Powis cottage. Kaye is the perfect host and made us most welcome, along with providing us with the best home made cakes. The accommodation is beautiful, and has stunning views from the balcony. We had a perfect couple of days, wish it had been longer and we will definitely be returning.
- Susan (10/5): Perfect beautiful location, views and host - Breakfast was a great selection and fresh.
Location was perfect for all routes. Laugharne was lovely, loved Dylan Thomas Boathouse. Pendine Sands was lovely too. Host was very informative and helpful. I thought this was a cottage and not just a room to rent and was a new experience for me as having 2 children in tow i wouldn’t usually book a room. However, it was a lovely experience.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Darran (10/5): Exceptional - We’ve recently had a 3 night stay at Powis Cottage and we loved every second. We have a busy hectic life, and this felt like a retreat for us. Positioned in a beautiful location surrounded by gardens and with an incredible sea view, it gives you a sense of tranquility. We were welcomed as guests by Kaye and dog Coco, who both live at the house (Booking.com doesn’t mention it is a B&B setup), and we left feeling like friends. Kaye couldn’t do enough for us and is a natural host, welcoming us back from days out with cups of tea, and homemade cakes…she was keen for us to make ourselves at home. I loved my DIY muesli in the mornings, and the different baked offerings like frittatas and baked eggs. The bedroom was huge, again with a sea view, and the en-suite bathroom was next door on the hallway.
We were approx a 5min drive from the township of Laugharne. We ate in the Dylan Resort, Browns and 3 Mariners (we’d always finish the night with drinks in the Mariners) - all of which we’d recommend. Kaye was kind enough to drop us in, and we’d get a taxi back with Monroes which cost £7-10. The area was good for walking and sightseeing, and the drive along the coastline is incredibly picturesque.
It’s safe to say we didn’t want to leave Powis Cottage, and we will definately visit again. Thank you Kaye & Coco x x
- Liz (9/5): Lovely b&b with a great view - Very comfortable b&b with amazing views out to sea.
Great location close to Laugharne which is a pretty village with lovely walks. Also close to other lovely coastal towns - Saundersfoot & Pendine Sands.
The owner Kaye is friendly & helpful. Breakfast was tasty & plentiful.
Highly recommended & we hope to return when the weather is better to really appreciate the wonderful setting. Liz & Michael
- Erica (10/5): Exceptional - Location was perfect. Kaye and Coco were fabulous hosts. Breakfast was delicious. We had a brilliant weekend.
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional - Well, Powis Cottage, what can we say, Kaye met us at the front door with such a warm welcome, we immediately felt so comfortable, the stunning views over the Gower and West Wales Coastline were breath taking, breakfast was full of home made treats, mmmmm, so tasty, both Sue and myself felt like we were visiting family, nothing is too much trouble for Kaye, we also met Coco the dog who is very much part of the family and very cute, thank you Kaye for looking after us and being so kind and welcoming, we will return someday for sure - Love Sue & Brian Nothing
- Hollie (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful home with stunning seaside views! Freshly made breakfast with a variety of options! Kaye is very welcoming and goes above and beyond to create such a fantastic stay. Would love to visit again!
