Guest Reviews
- Linda (10/5): This accommodation was a little gem It was a real getaway stay , came away feeing really chilled - Beautiful setting , friendly hosts and everything that you might need for your stay had been included ,
I wound certainly recommend this accommodation to friends and family 10/10 Nothing it was perfect
- Anne (10/5): Enjoyable stay in a beautiful house - Stone Cottage is a beautiful house where guests stay adjacent to the main house. The garden is wonderful. Chris and Debbie were helpful with suggesting places to eat and visit. The breakfast is was muesli with yoghurt and fruit, toast and a croissant, orange juice and a choice of tea or coffee. We felt well looked after. The parking is a little tricky, it's a small area but it's doable. I felt that a handrail would have been helpful on the few steps up to the house. I have just had knee surgery otherwise I wouldn't have commented on this.
- Elizabeth (9/5): - Peace and quiet All good

Totally recommend. You have a very restful enjoyable stay...5 star ⭐ Nothing.
- Cyril (8/5): - Ideal location, cleanliness, helpfulness of owners The gap between foot of bed and wall a little tight for someone a little unsteady on their feet

- Maxine (10/5): Absolutely gorgeous cottage - Lovely spotless room on the side of stone cottage with rural surroundings, picture postcard! Chris and Debbie made us feel so welcome with a lovely touch to breakfast in our own little garden room. Would definitely book again if we come back to Norfolk.
Had a gorgeous meal at wiveton bells, a lovely little pub not too far from stone cottage. There was nothing not to like, it was gorgeous, so jealous!! Chris and Debbie's home was lovely
- Steve (8/5): Good location for local nature reserves and National Trust - We had a pleasant few days here for our wedding anniversary. It has a flower rich garden and is in a quiet location. The owners kindly allowed us to run the moth trap in the garden and we had several new species. My wife found the room comfortable and quaint. There is a little corridor outside the room where we had our vegetarian breakfast. We are not vegetarian but didn’t mind the change and my wife enjoyed the homemade granola. It is handy for visiting the local wildlife reserves and there are several places nearby to go for an evening meal. I did find that it was difficult to get wifi on the phone but this is probably down to my service provider. There was no Wifi provided in the room.
- Virginia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice hosts nice peaceful location close to holt and surrounding attractions would highly recommend
- Swaisland (9/5): Excellent stay - Beautiful room with everything we needed. Fabulous breakfast. Really good location close to Holt and the coast.
- Claire (9/5): Really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful place and very quiet. Everything we needed as a base. Very friendly and helpful hosts - Beautiful cottage in an idyllic setting. The room was everything we needed as a base for our trip.
We had the option to sit in the garden for breakfast but unfortunately the weather wasn’t good enough. Chris and Debbie were really lovely and welcoming but left us to it which was nice. Felt very private. Good location for all of the places we visited. Bed very comfortable. The parking space is a little tight to get into but fine once you’re in it. Tricky to see when pulling out, maybe needs a mirror on the opposite wall to help with visibility. Not too busy a road so not a major issue.
Noisy fridge at night. Although great to have!
Not loads of space to unpack but Debbie did offer us more coat hangers.
- David (9/5): Superb - Stone Cottage was quite small, but very comfortable. The bed was the most comfortable that we had slept in for a long while. The breakfast was very good, Debbie and Chris are very welcoming and helpful, we would stay there again. Parking was a bit cramped but manageable.
- Rosemary (2/5): Disappointed. - The garden The owners attitude. The darkness in the porch. There was no fresh air in the bedroom. Lack of cleaning the room everyday. Muesli for breakfast with mouldy dry cold toast. The ladies attitude when I asked for an extra toilet roll. The lack of space to walk between the bed and the wall.
- Derek (7/5): Good -
- Trevor (10/5): Lovely accomodation, complemented with friendly owners and great breakfast. - Lovely room with great ensuite. Excellent breakfast, catered to our dietary needs very well. Friendly owners, well furnished rooms, all very good. Nothing
- Betty (9/5): Delightful - Breakfast delicious, hosts could not have been more friendly and helpful, situation so peaceful garden setting beautiful with facilities to eat outside. Shower too hot for me to be enjoyable and warning notice not able to adjust the setting. Bedroom slightly cramped but acceptable
- Stephen (10/5): Unforgettable; we will remember Debbie & Chris always and be ever indebted to them. - We booked this to attend a family anniversary party but just beforehand my brother-in-law died. We decided to still go and visit in support of my sister. Debbie and Chris couldn’t have been kinder or more welcoming and even offered to help us when we return for the funeral even though their cottage is already booked. The accommodation, whilst small, is pretty with a beautiful garden just outside. It is equipped with everything you could possibly need; is cosy and has a lovely shower room attached. The toiletries and items on the generous welcome tray are high quality but if anything else is required the hosts encourage you to ask. They are very willing to offer local information and tips and to help resolve any difficulties their guests may encounter. It is the best B& B experience we have ever had! I can’t think of a single thing - it felt more like staying with ‘old friends’ than in a commercial establishment
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional - Had a great stay. The room looks out onto an absolutely stunning garden that was lovely to sit out in. The room was absolutely spotless with a very comfortable bed. Our hosts couldn’t have been nicer we had a lovely homemade breakfast and they were incredibly helpful advising us on taxi companies and offering a lift when we had difficulty.
- Jennifer (9/5): Brilliant. Just a choice for Breakfast would have been Good. - Very Quant charming accomaodation - Perfect. Self contained but always someone at hand if you needed them.
Most welcoming and informative couple. Would stay there again and recommend them to friends.
Spotlessly clean. Breakfast was a little sweet for us. ( Very sweet soaked Oat and Fruit. Jam on Toast ( 1 Slice), and then a Maple/Nut Danish Pastry). As it was a set breakfast . We Also had the same the next day. Sugar levels were Sky High.
Choice would have been nice.
- Brian (9/5): Superb -
- Adrian (10/5): Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. - Lovely hosts, exceptional location in an annex next to the property. Very comfortable / relaxing environment. Everything we needed.Easy access to all local point of interest.
- Farress (9/5): Superb - Debbie and Chris very welcoming. Thought of everything to make our few nights stay enjoyable.
Many little extras. Overall hidden gem. Nothing
- Lyn (10/5): Highly recommended and should we venture that way in the future, would gladly stay again. - The whole package was perfect, Stone Cottage is a gem with a beautiful garden. Our portion of the Cottage was extremely comfy, very clean, modern. Welcoming knowledgeable hosts, great breakfast. Our hosts could not have provided more comfortable facilities in a very pretty location.
- Adrian (9/5): Superb -
- Jack (10/5): Fantastic accommodation and our hosts were very attentive. Wonderful corner of the world - Lovely breakfast served each day in a beautiful part of Norfolk
- Michael (10/5): Really neat little place. Beautiful home, super comfy bed, tasty healthy breakfasts, lovely hosts. - Really neat little place. Beautiful home and garden with super comfy bed, lovely healthy breakfasts and wonderful hosts - couldn't ask for more.
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sylvia (8/5): Comfortable but very remote. - Good breakfast but husband doesn’t like yogurt which was put on the muesli and may have been better being in separate pots. The area where breakfast was served was very cold subsequently croissant and toast cooled quickly.
- Nicola (10/5): Perfect! - Perfect find, clean and comfortable, beautiful decor, lovely shower room, really enjoyed our stay, thank you 😊 N/A
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent very nice breakfast
- Jack (10/5): Exceptional -
- Janet (9/5): Enjoyable relaxing weekend - Quiet
Very good breakfast
Welcoming hosts but unobtrusive Would benefit from toilet brush and shower mat
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- Cowell (10/5): A wonderful, relaxing two day stay made special by lovely hosts making me feel so welcome. - Lovely home-made Bircher muesli as part of a Continental breakfast served in little conservatory looking out on beautiful garden. Everything I needed in comfortable room with men-suite bathroom. Nothing. Everything was perfect.
- Amy (9/5): A great place to stay. - The breakfast was really good. Freshly-made muesli, bread and good coffee. The location was great. Chris and Debbie’s house is so pretty. Really nice waking up in the morning and looking out at the beautiful garden.
- Graham (4/5): Disappointing - Beautiful house and garden in a lovely location close to Holt and the coast. The room was nicely furnished and well equipped for guests.
The host was very helpful in suggesting places to eat in the evening or to provide plates etc if you wanted a takeaway. The room was very small, hardly any room for 2 people to be in. Breakfast is included with the booking, however No choices for breakfast were given. A tray is brought out with croissants/toast and muesli, tea, coffee, which is ok if you like that for breakfast, one of us enjoyed that type of breakfast, but not the other and didn’t eat much of it.
Breakfast is eaten just outside the room, or if the weather is nice you could sit outside in the garden.
- Vicky (8/5): Very good - Lovely tucked away location, friendly hosts, homemade brekky, quaint room, easy enough to get out to visit local points of interest- would stay at again 😀 Only marked down slightly as could have done with more pressure to the shower and some guests may want the option of a cooked breakfast. Plus, please add hot choc to the hot drink options to the room 🙏 but that is purely a personal preference and most prob wouldn't be bothered!
- Anonymous (9/5): Really nice stay. Excellent communication with host. Lovely property. - Beautiful garden, atrium and room.
- William (9/5): Superb -
- Kenneth (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Nothing
- Ellen (2/5): Cut short/very disappointing. - Bath room size was fine Room size very cramped, e.g. had to shuffle side ways past the end of the bed, to get from one end of the small room, to go to the bathroom. No choice of customers preferred breakfast available. e.g. host stated. "No cooked breakfast available" just; croissant, yoghurt, muesli, fruit. (Food we would not eat for breakfast)
So we bought some bits that we liked from the supermarket, put them in the fridge,to perhaps cook at the beach,
Poor night's sleep, fridge very noisy, no openable window to outside on a humid night, small fan in room,
Had 2 night's booked, left on first morning, after finding a unpleasant mark on a unused bath towel. When approaching the host about this, and the noisy fridge, they were not at all apologetic, very defensive, saying I should have turned the fridge off, and couldn't explain the stain on the towel, at which point I headed the keys back, cut short our break.
- Julie (10/5): Great stay - Lovely little annex to the main house, which was a gorgeous flint cottage. Very characterful accommodation. Clean and comfortable. Breakfast was really good. Nothing to fault
- Michael (6/5): Over priced for size of room, amenities, and breakfast. - Cleanliness Small double room, mattress too soft. Limitedc hoice of "continental breakfast".The shower was preset and not hot enough.
- Shirley (9/5): Superb -
- Jane (9/5): Superb - The room itself was separated from the owners house by a small vestibule, which gave privacy as well as a private eating area. The setting was fabulous. We ate breakfast in the garden when weather allowed. Having a fridge in the room was handy... but a little noisy at night.
- George (10/5): Exceptional - The setting is lovely from the road to the carefully crafted garden. You stay in a separate building but connected by a glass roof which feels very secluded. I sat out on the night and the stars were spot on, but that depends on luck I'm afraid. I slept very well and had a nice shower in the morning. The continental breakfast that followed was top drawer, blew my expectations out the water. (All I left was the raisins)
- Joey (10/5): warm and welcoming it’s a must book! - beautiful location, very well maintained, room was spotless, breakfast was brilliant! great host! couldn’t ask for more! I couldn’t fault it!
- Mick (10/5): brilliant break - close to many coastal walks
- David (9/5): Superb - Friendly staff Comfortable and clean, great breakfast
- Susanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (4/5): If it was heated properly it would be much better. - The location was good and easy to find The bedroom was very cold overnight. We stayed during a cold spell of 0° and the heating should have been left on low all night. The breakfast was served in a walkway to the front door and had no heating at all, so I had to sit in my coat for breakfast. For the £100 a night we paid, felt it was much too expensive, although it included a continental breakfast. We have rented places before for the same money, with a lounge and kitchen and this was basically a bedroom and ensuite!
- Roger (8/5): Very good value. - Bed comfortable and room very clean. Nice to have a fridge in room with fresh milk and tea/coffee provided. Breakfast area was very cold..
- Malcolm (9/5): Superb -
- Selina (7/5): Good -
- Penny (10/5): Beautiful little stay, would recommend - It was a beautiful little stay, the breakfast provided was stunning, really quaint and cosy
- Bigal (9/5): Superb - Ideal for a short break especially if going to Thursford Christmas Show
- David (4/5): I don't think their heart's in hospitality. - The room was clean and comfortable The breakfast was dismal. Meusli - like it or lump it - and you aren't informed until you arrive that there is no menu choice. Plus I wasn't too happy about having to shift a wheelie bin in the dark to be able to park my car.
- Christopher (9/5): Superb - Peace&quiet
- Stephen (7/5): Good -
- Beatriz (9/5): Beautiful rural cottage room. - The cottage is in a rural and charming location, we were given detailed directions so it was very easy to find. We found the room and the bathroom impeccably clean, the bed was very comfortable with lovely linen and good quality towels.
We enjoyed the coffee machine and to sit outside to enjoy our breakfast in the beautiful garden. The host gave us an amazing breakfast and catered for me ( wheat free) without much notice so, I was very grateful for that. The only thing I can say is that the room is on the side of the road, and even though it is a very quiet area, when cars drive past it does get a bit noisy. But that's all.
- Heather (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): The time we spent at Stone Cottage fulfilled all our expectations. - Breakfasts were perfect, nutritious, beautifully served and on time. Coffee was excellent. Thornage is a very quiet little village and Stone Cottage very welcoming. Seating area outside and gardens are lovely. It could not have been better. Absolutely what we wanted.
