Guest Reviews
- FERRAN (7/5): - solo estuvimos de passo, pero no esta mal para una sola noche
- Juan (6/5): Pleasant -
- Seller (4/5): Disappointing - The location It was soo dirty and abandon, the swimming pool was like a hang over party , beers empty cans and cigarettes around the pool
- Sean (9/5): Superb -
- Fievel (3/5): Convenient to the beach, huge problems with bugs in the food and beds - The big pros: 10-15 minute walk to local access of the beach, relatively comfortable beds (the mattresses appeared to be new, and had comfort tops), and the pool is set back into the trees, so it feels very immersed in the rainforest. The two staff members we interacted with were also very friendly, as was the very charming rescue dog in the office. HUGE cons: (1) At the first breakfast, my partner found a literal cockroach leg in the gallo pinto (just the leg - where was the rest of the body? who else got cockroach in their meal??). When we told the hotel, they casually apologized and said they would tell the kitchen, but otherwise did not follow up with us at all. Obviously, we did not eat the breakfast the rest of our stay so had to buy food elsewhere. (2) The room smelled very moldy when we got in - we also live in a rainforest area, so we understand the issues of mold in the climate and how much effort is required to clean it, but we would not accept this level of mold in our home, and had to spend a lot of time airing out the room, which did help somewhat. (3) On the second night, we noticed small bloodstains on our sheets from insect bites overnight. This can be a sign of bedbugs, so we looked and were not able to find any - not a guarantee they aren't there, since the mattresses looked new so the evidence may not have been visible yet - but it's possible this was due to other biting insects instead. However, we did find many other small bloodstains on the sheets and pillowcases that had not been appropriately bleached out from previous guests, which was gross and points to an ongoing issue. (4) Smaller concern about noise - as many other folks have added, there is substantial noise from the road (not just cars, lots of heavy trucks air braking loudly). It is also a pet friendly hotel (we appreciate this as we have sometimes traveled with pets in the past) but there was a fair amount of dog barking from several dogs, so it's not a good option for anyone who is afraid of dogs. We already both sleep with earplugs so the noise wasn't that disruptive, but not a good choice for anyone with sensitive hearing or sleep difficulty.
- Laura (9/5): Wonderful hospitality! Super helpful above and beyond. -
- Gregory (1/5): Horrible experience… left after finding and killing at least 5 bed bugs… which bit me during the night. Hotel refused to - Staff initially friendly The room had bed bugs that bit
- Ritaly (8/5): Very good -
- Carol (10/5): Exceptional - Everything
- Renee (8/5): Very friendly, clean and accommodating place to stay near Uvita. - Hotel Samsara is tucked into the jungle, on the edge of the town of Uvita, which made it a very beautiful place to stay. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful if you had questions or needed assistance. They served a wonderful breakfast every day with great coffee. The rooms were comfortable with plenty of space to spread out. The pool was clean and very relaxing. There was a beach nearby that can be walked to, but with my disability I was not able to go there. If you don't have a car, you can easily get a taxi to take you to nearby restaurants, beaches and other attractions. The staff will help you get a taxi, if you're not sure who to call. Besides breakfast, they serve beverages (soda, juice, beer, drinks, water) in the restaurant, and will serve dinner if you let them know you will be dining there. They hotel is situated along a busy highway, and is on a curve, so pulling out of the parking area is a bit hairy. The noise of the traffic can get loud at times but settles down to almost nothing at night. I thought it might be a problem for me, but it didn't really bother me at all.
- Simpson (9/5): Superb - Good food, good service All good
- Nelson (9/5): Superb -
- Rolando (7/5): Good - The gentleman in charge was nice and helpful
Nice location, nice rooms and great pool with lots of shadow because of the trees. We stayed on first floor and could hear all steps from people walking on 2nd floor and them talking
- Laura (6/5): Pleasant - Hotel needs maintenance
The tenant upstairs had a party and it was very noisy, therefore, we couldnt sleep.
No direct access to the beach
- Roman (5/5): Very good but no sound proofing and you hear every car, bike, and truck at night. - No sound proofing, so you heard every single truck and car go by, even though we had the room on the opposite side of the road. The owner was great and very accommodating. Breakfast was also good. The hotel is for sale and you can tell it needs some work. If you are a hard sleeper you won't have too many issues otherwise bring ear plugs. Good for one night's stay. The noise at night.
- Timothy (10/5): Exceptional - Convent to highway easy to get to. Staff very nice Need chairs in the rooms= and new mattress
- Brenda (8/5): Beautiful Jungle Surrounding a lovely hotel - Owners are delightful. Costa Rican setting is beautiful. Wonderful breakfast. Lovely restaurant on site. Good parking . Nice size rooms. Good beds. Location was isolated .
- Audrey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (6/5): i wouldn’t go back. the staff was really nice & accomodating though! - we didn’t like it that much, the pool was the best part. the road noise! the dark, simple rooms.
also, the toilet & sink made an annoying squeaky noise every time we used them. uncomfortable beds. the property is worn down and needs a facelift.
- Bailey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kathryn (9/5): Superb - Helpful staff, nice pool and grounds, good restaurant. Highway noise
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Benjamin (8/5): Very good -
- Cady (8/5): Very good -
- Vanessa (8/5): Very good -
- Nadja (10/5): Very nice and friendly staff, feels like at home - Costa Rican Breakfast A bitte far away from the center, but close to the beach and you don't have to pay entrance fee to the national park if you enter the beach there and walk until the Wales tale (about 4km)
- Hernan (7/5): We'd recommend this place but we some reservations. - Breakfast service was good. Food was great. Dining location is welcoming. The staff was friendly, helpful, and courteous. The biggest drawback for us was the traffic noise. On the second floor, it looks like the rooms are separated by wood-board walls, so one can hear people talking and phone calls in the next room. We think we can get better accommodations somewhere else for the price we paid.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was super nice and attentive, the place was clean and comfortable.
- Ilene (9/5): We would return! - Excellent breakfast of coffee, juice, eggs, toast, rice and beans, and a wonderful mix of prepared fruit. Rooms are large and super clean. Even the restaurant’s open beams were free of cobwebs.
Parking is close to rooms. Love having the pool and saw toucans by it each afternoon. Ate dinner here one of our three nights and it was excellent! Not a huge place so you don’t have to share pool and restaurant with many people. Close to road is convenient but noisy. luckily traffic decreased to nothing in the night. The room walls and ceiling are not insulated so you hear the room occupants too much! Pool furniture needs an upgrade as it is on its last legs.
- Linda (8/5): Great stay in a traditional cabin - Lovely surroundings, very natural.
Traditional style cabin accommodation.
Swimming pool.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Food was good, lots of choice.
Good breakfast included in the price. Nothing
- Nino (8/5): Very good -
- Paola (6/5): good place to stop - the room is nice and clean and they have a beautiful
garden with swimming pool. the property is near the road and it is noisy but luckily during night the traffic is less.
- Noilly (9/5): Superb -
- Oded (7/5): Good -
- Mary (2/5): Not recommended - Staff tried their best but the location and the repair and maintenance was beyond them. Cockroaches, really loud traffic noise from the road all night. Away from town so hard to make it work without a car, with restaurant only open over the weekend.
- P (5/5): OK, but would of looked for another place to stay if given the chance to do it over. - The Location was convenient to get to the beach and the highway. The pool was located downhill of the hotel and provided a bit of privacy in a jungle enviornment. The room was not equipped with any ice machines or a small refrigerator. This would have made a big difference in the overall stay. This hotel is next to the highway and you can constantly hear traffic at all hours and lots of truck engine brakes......
