- Deborah (1/5): Useless company who only care about money - The owner cancelled the stay after numerous emails asking for information to get into the premises . Took the money anyway after booking somone else . Called booking.com they refused to help as they couldn't find alternative accommodation ..Maria the representative said a refund of 29.80 (even though it was 98.00 ) in 12 working days after booking alternative accommodation, unfortunately there was no money to pay for alternative as it had been paid to Newport hotel..So at this point it's not known if a refund will happen because alternative accommodation wasn't found.The time frame of refunds apparently though time frames don't apply if someone might be homeless for the night .The man who owns Newport hotel took 2 payments and Booking.com seemed ok with this only saying that's not their problem.No useful assistance,left people sleeping on the street for the night.. . I heard Maria laughing with her colleagues whilst apparently looking for alternative,when I questioned her regarding the laughter,she denied it flatly ..like my ears don't work .. appalling behavior from a so called reputable company
- MaryG (1/5): Extremely Unprofessional. AVOID - Nothing I strongly advise anyone considering staying at Newport House to look elsewhere. My experience with this property was deeply frustrating, stressful, and completely unacceptable. When my son arrived to check in, he was told by the proprietor that the booking "shouldn’t have gone through" and that the property was not available. No prior notice was given, despite the owner having received the booking details weeks in advance. This left my son without accommodation for three nights, after travelling from Ireland.
When questioned, the owner was rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful, simply saying "take it up with Booking.com", with no apology or attempt to resolve the issue. Thankfully Booking.com resolved the situation within an hour.
