- Peter (8/5): Comfortable place to sleep before a mountain - Clean and comfortable very friendly hosts Few facilities nearby
- Antonius (10/5): Sehr gut und zu empfehlen! - Hat alle Erwartungen übertroffen. Wir waren mehr als zufrieden!

- Huxham (8/5): Quirky fun - I love Gulabin. It’s delightfully quirky. The owners are new since I was last there several years ago and they’ve obviously made a big effort to get the place working efficiently. They were friendly and helpful too. The kitchen is small and can be chaotic if busy but it’s very well equipped. There’s huge dining room and the two lounges are very comfortable. It would be grand if they could find a way to include the cost of firewood in the booking as it’s a bit awkward if one set of guests pay for it and everyone benefits. This is probably good value for money if you are a family occupying a whole room but it was the most expensive a hostel night we’ve ever had as a couple by some margin (many of the bedrooms are cramped for space even if there’s only two of you in them). That said, we were extremely grateful to find accommodation exactly where we needed it in this location.
- Mark (8/5): - Perfect for a trip to Glenshee Clean
- loic (10/5): A Perfect Place to Relax And Enjoy the Beauty of Nature - Very Warm Welcome And Helpful Owner Very Gentle :)
- Elisabeth (8/5): The storm cut short some sightseeing so I headed to the lodge early. Nice property and very convenient to other destinat - Convenient location. Reasonable rates. Friendly host. Don’t forget to read the fine print. No towels and self catering. Wasn’t a problem unless you weren’t aware.
- Thomas (9/5): - Location is perfect for a ski trip at Glenshee. The owners we exceptionally friendly and welcoming and made us feel very welcome. We had some noisy neighbours that kept some of us late.
- Senja (10/5): Lovely spot, nice and comfortable house and very friendly hosts! Amazing stay all together!! - The property was lovely, the spot is very picturesque and calm. There was a lot of room for our group of 20. It felt very comfortable and like I was visiting a friend and not renting. The hosts were absolutely wonderful and we had an amazing stay here. I will definitely come back again.

- Angus (10/5): -
- Jan-Willem (8/5): Wonderful! - Ik reisde samen met mijn zoon. We kregen gratis een upgrade met aparte bedden. Zeer gastvrije ontvangst, leuke andere gasten. Gebruik van de uitgebreide keuken. Prima douches. Erg mooie locatie.
- Rebecca (10/5): Lovely place and very lovely owners! -
- Michael (8/5): -
- Richard (10/5): - Not our normal sort of place to stay but ideal for our circumstances. Lovely facilities and folk staying at the same time. Good self catering shared kitchen though only as we left did we tumble to the fact that Helen had provided some communal consumables in the kitchen - our loss.
- Sylvie (7/5): Emplacement et atmosphère parfaite, confort de literie moyen - On a adoré le lieu, l’emplacement et l’accueil. Les matelas étaient de mauvaise qualité.
- Erskine (8/5): - Very well equipped with great amenities especially for short stays. Communication great with the hosts and everything as listed. Loved the quiet isolated location.
- Helen (7/5): Lovely location and friendly owners - Fabulous location. Great kitchen and communal space. The WiFi didn’t work until the day we were leaving. This meant we couldn’t check weather forecasts easily as we also had minimal signal.
- Gabriel (10/5): Exceptional - It s a great place to stay, it kinda in the park in "nowhere" and it definetly has its charm. Accomodation was great, clean and the host was very pleasant to talk to and provided us with lots of helpful ifnormation. Would stay here again, definetely. Its not really accomodations fault or minus, but a good thing to keep in mind is that no food can be bought nearby and to bring your own food :)
- Stuart (8/5): Very good -
- Cami (10/5): Exceptional - We had a wonderful stay! Helen was incredibly kind and welcoming. She recommended us great places to visit and was always helpful with such a positive attitude. The place is beautiful, peaceful, and has all the comforts we needed. Highly recommended! .
- Freya (9/5): Superb - Lovely Lodge, the owners went above and beyond for me despite me being late for my reservation - they were very kind. The room was warm and I slept incredibly well. Beautiful mountain views, quiet and peaceful. Location is fantastic. A real gem.
- Evi (7/5): Good - Property is clean. Only 1 small bathroom on the 3rd floor but when busy, you can use the one on the second floor. Coffee facilities available.
- Victoria (10/5): I loved every second of it! Beautifully place - Both of the hosts were super welcoming, helpful and friendly. Loved the House itself, good cooking facilities, and dinning room, with stunning view. On a cold day it’s bliss to sit by the fire in one of the two beautiful sitting rooms or play a game there. The room was beautiful with a breathtaking view on soft hills and sheep. I extended my stay and can highly recommend a stay. Would love to revisit!
- Christina (8/5): Nice Find - Great location for hiking or passing thought the National Park. Nice big property with 2 living rooms for chilling, a fully equipped kitchen and a big dining room. Showers and toilets are shared with all other rooms on your floor. Also towels have to be rented - £5 for two, this was an unusual encounter for us. Owner who showed us around was lovely.
- Alessandro (7/5): Very pleasant stay at a wonderful location. Ideal for any hill walkers looking for somewhere to stay - Location was excellent for accessing the mountains around Glenshee! An option for a spare pillow would be useful if you’re a fussy sleeper like myself as I found it a little flat😃.
- Dilip (4/5): Excellent host but serious lack of facilities like even the basics - The location and the host were the best and excellent part of the stay.
Beautiful place but not upto the mark. The first thing that was a shock to me was towel hire. I have travelled a lot but never had to hire towels. £5 for two towels. I thought towels were part of basic facility. Even clamping pods provide free towels.
The second thing is the size of the room is extremely small for a twin room. There was only space for two beds and a chest of drawers. The floor creeks extremely. And also like basic things like shower gel and shampoo and things were lacking. Would be acceptable if it was a cheap place but for paying near £100 and also expected to strip the bed was not acceptable. So sorry to have to be so harsh but there was actually lack of even basic things needed for a night’s stay. Oh yes also of rhe two single beds one of them you could feel every wire so uncomfortable.
- Nikki (10/5): - Quiet , clean room with a view , friendly hosts.
well equipped kitchen with a lovely big dinning room,
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A lovely lodge/house that we stayed in. All the facilities was good. A very lovely location near the ski centre and its not too far from there.
The kitchen had everything you need to cook for everyone.
The only thing is that the bedrooms were very hot. There is floor heating which it kept at a very warm temperature. Which made the room too warm to sleep in. Even with the heatings were turned off in the room. But a very cosy and a great place to stay in.
- Laura (9/5): Lovely lodge in excellent location. - Great location, well equipped, friendly host. WiFi didn't reach my bedroom, they need a booster. A TV in one of the lounges would have been nice.
- Kasia (8/5): Lovely stay - Great location. We were lucky enough to be there out of season, and no other guests in the house. Bedroom too hot.
- Professordes (10/5): Exceptional - A great place to stay a stone's throw from Glenshee ski centre. Friendly hosts and comfortable rooms. It would be ideal for group bookings too.
- Bridget (10/5): Exceptional -
- George (8/5): Very good - The owners and facilities were great. Nice touches with communal tea/coffee/milk and the lounges were very cosey. Shared bathrooms were very clean and showers were good.
Dining area and outside area was a nice bonus to the property.
A lovely warm welcome. Bed was a little wobbly and could probably do with some new pillows or extra pillows in the room. But still slept decent none the less
- Katrina (10/5): Fab lodge with great facilities and location - Excellent location for hiking trip. Lovely lodge with brilliant facilities including great touches such as a new outdoor area with fire pit and well stocked kitchen. Hosts were great - loved the personal welcome and getting to know them over a drink. Nothing it was everything we needed and had a great night
- Walter (9/5): Superb - Location and outdoor seating
- Cameron (8/5): Great - Self catering. No breakfast
- Paul (10/5): A highly recommended wonderful stay, in a stunning and remote setting! - Breakfast was basic, but we were happily cooking our own in the excellently equipped shared kitchen - important to note that the nearest shop is 30 mins away by car, so it's definitely wise to stock up on food for your stay. There was a lovely communal atmosphere and some useful information on local walks and amenities. Helen and Tim were great, friendly hosts who happily left us to our own devices for the stay. My only very small issue was that our window was locked shut so we couldn't open it during the night. It was unexpectedly warm weather, though, so not really anyones fault - particularly as I just forgot to ask about it too!
- Millena (5/5): OK choice if anything else is booked and you are ready for it - 2 shared snug rooms were cosy and had musical instruments. shared kitchen with appliances and juice. No access to pubs or place to eat until you wish to walk 2 miles road to another hotel. No Internet access and no cellular access in the rooms we booked. At all. Rats running in walls at night scared us. Shared toilet was not only for our 5-6 beds rooms but for everyone who booked the 1st floor. no shower.
- Amalu (8/5): Very good -
- Birute (9/5): Superb -
- Petra (5/5): Passable - We booked a double bed room, ended up having a room with bunk beds and two beds that are only reachable via a ladder. Payed for these 5 beds (the room) - pictures on the booking Site suggested one double bed room. Shared bathroom ( we knew that) and shared toilets. Was ok for 1 night.
- Bookic (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely little place, perfect for what we needed and will be back again. Hosts are very friendly.
- Anja (10/5): Exceptional - The owners. The kitchen was nice and well equipped. It would be nice to have more hookes in the room
- Harrison (8/5): A pleasant stay, especially for the children who liked the opportunity to roam about. - The self-catering communal self-catering facilities are good and an opportunity to meet up with fellow travelers. The location is delightful - a superb gateway to the highlands. While we appreciated the affordability of a family room, travelers should be prepared for a family intimacy as the space is small - especially with the double bed on the second level up a narrow staircase. Adventurous for the children though.
- Colin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (8/5): A great place in a lovely spot and a great base for exploring the area. - Super location with easy access to lovely walks up the glens. Excellent sightseeing tips from friendly and helpful hosts. A comfortable private room and great kitchen/dining facilities. Nothing really apart from people banging doors and leaving lights/extractor fans on late at night.
- Teresa (8/5): Rustic homestay in an idyllic location. - Great place if you are hiking or cycling. Bit nicer than a hostel but not quite a guesthouse. If you are high maintenance this place is probably not for you. Location is unbelievably beautiful and the owners are just so welcoming and helpful. Shared kitchen and dining space is lovely. Instructions for the microwave and cookers would be helpful. Towel rental was cheap and convenient; a reminder to bring towels could be included in the pre arrival message.
- Benjamin (8/5): Very good -
- Mathys (9/5): Superb - Beautiful location. The staff was very friendly. The kitchen is well equiped. It is very peaceful.
- Quinn (8/5): Very good - The owners were fabulous and so friendly 😁
- Farrell-morris (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ingrid (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly, Good Location
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Martin (9/5): Superb -
- Brian (7/5): Good -
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rosie (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (6/5): Pleasant -
- N. (4/5): Overpriced youth hostel style basic and remote stay - Seeing as it was very remote, we did see deer at night. Lack of flexibility in check-in, very remote and far away from restaurants or pubs. Being told multiple times to make sure to be quiet; this did not suit the youth hostel style set up of the house and was very unnecessary seeing as we all are adults
- Suzanne (8/5): Lovely location. Friendly and helpful owners. Good value accommodation. - The location was lovely. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The accommodation is basic but good value and ideal for a stop over. It was great having the self catering facilities and a dining room.
- Amanda (9/5): Superb -
- Elizabeth (5/5): Not what we expected from the booking site. - The hosts were friendly. The location was hard to find, inaccurately mapped with no information from the hosts about the correct address. No towels provided, no food available, very basic rooms, no cooling, shared bathroom. Should be classed as backpackers hostel.
- S (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lois (10/5): Exceptional -
- Agata (7/5): Overall, a nice place to stay. - Location, good value for money. Friendly host. There was no heating upstairs.
- Katharine (10/5): Clean and comfy bunk house with lovely owners. -
- Duderaj (10/5): Exceptional - Spacious Lodge with all facilities required to holiday with family None
- Manoj (9/5): Superb -
- Angela (8/5): Great base for playing in the hills - Friendly hosts, well equipped facilities and comfy beds. Great drying room for wet ski gear Shared bathrooms were a wee bit "rustic"
- Andrei (10/5): Relaxed cosy place to stay in a storm. - Beautiful location. Clean and cosy room with comfy bed. Spacious and well equipped kitchen. Owners very helpful.
- Tatiana (8/5): Very good - Lovely staff and facilities were very good
- Rosaleen (10/5): Great stay very affordable. - Loved the lodge No hot water in the morning
- Donald (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ianthe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alex (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julia (10/5): Would definitely return and recommend highly. - Everything. The owners were lovely, value for money, rooms spotless, fully equipped kitchen, the location was perfect, the views were stunning.
- Cameron (10/5): amazing value for money. - really good value for money, warm showers, basic but comfy rooms, very well equipped kitchen and close to glenshee skiing. Host was friendly and readily available, had an overall good stay only small thing was the wifi only really worked consistently in the kitchen (where it was fast), but not a big issue for us.
- Emily (8/5): Very good -
- Anna (9/5): Superb - Fantastic facilities, charming house, beautiful surroundings and very helpful and friendly hosts making you feel at home.
The house is charming, has two lounge areas with real fireplaces, well equipped kitchen, big dinning area and an outdoor area. Place was nice and warm despite freezing temperatures outside.
The area is perfect for hikes and only a few minutes from the Glenshee ski centre.
Tim and Helen are wonderful hosts with plenty of knowledge and tips about things to do in the area. Our room was cute, and had a sink which was very handy, but the beds were quite small. Good for one night but we would struggle with a longer stay. We would definitely stay again but in a different room.
- Matias (7/5): It delivered very well in every aspect for what we required for this trip. - At every stage of the process the owners were extremely friendly, helpful and great communicators. The property offered all the amenities I would expect for the type of lodging and as a bonus we were given a 4 bed room with a mezzanine level even though we had only booked a two bed room. When we stayed the place wasn’t full to capacity. As such the kitchen facilities were more than sufficient but I feel that if there were more guests all trying to cook independently at around the same time things might get a little crowded.
- Wombill (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dick (9/5): very pleasant stay in a clean environment - Perfect location in the Cairngorms along the "snowroad"
Beautiful mountain views
very friendly staff
everything very clean.
It used to be a hostel with all kind of sports facilities. but now it is a very nice place to stay.
- Gary (7/5): All good. - Beautiful old house. Shared amenities.
- Lisa (9/5): Superb -
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Sam (9/5): Beautiful location - An amazing location! Helen and Tim were very nice hosts. We got upgraded to a quad room and the views were very nice over the mountains. Kitchen was well equipped, a huge dining room and two cosy living rooms. A nice stash of blankets are also available which I imagine would come in handy during the winter. Helen and Tim gave some great recommendations for walking and some insights to the history of the local area. A dedicated drying room would be great, after our hike where it rained most of the time it would have been great to dry our clothing and equipment as much as possible.
- Jane (10/5): Exceptional - A great base for hillwalking! Great facilities - kitchen, large dining room, comfortable beds with blackout blinds, and 2 cosy sitting rooms.
- Richard (10/5): Would stay again definitely - Breathtaking views and a beautiful building that is well set up. Tim and Helen are very friendly and helpful. Nothing to not like about the property.
- Angela (8/5): Great location for hillwalking - Lovely welcome on arrival and shown around the property. Great kitchen facilities. Some pegs in our room to hang up wet jackets would have been useful
- Alexandre (6/5): Pleasant - Bedroom very nice and clean No restaurant or shop around 20min drive, no towel and gel shower available, no WiFi in room.
It's expensive for what it is
- Hill (8/5): Very good -
- Denise (8/5): Very good -
- Anne (7/5): Good - No food supplied. I think towels should have been supplied. Walkers cannot be expected to carry towels as well as all their food requirements.
- Elaine (6/5): Pleasant - Location
Lounges
Cute room Toilet door didn’t seem to lock and little awkward to get into.
