- Robert (10/5): Catriona was a great host, even at short notice we were well provided for -
- Paula (10/5): - Warm welcome and lots of useful information. Nothing

Nulla
- Casale (10/5): Exceptional - Catriona was always very kind and helpful in everything. The house is really cosy and the location is great, with heatlands on the back and meadows and the ocean in front. A very quiet place, in the heart of Connemara. Nothing.
- Jamie (10/5): Exceptional - Enjoyed everything. The location was perfect for me on Lower Sky Road. Made the trip to Sky Road very convenient. Beautiful beach within walking distance, not for swimming. I prefer to be a bit out of town, and this location was just right. Catriona was a wonderful host!
- Dorothy (10/5): Great place to stay! - Very convenient location, only a few minutes drive from Clifden city center. Lovely space with incredible view of the ocean. Host was very responsive and checked in frequently to make sure everything was satisfactory. Continental breakfast was excellent and Catriona even checked in beforehand for food allergies and preferences. Would absolutely stay here again. n/a
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional - Catriona was a perfect host, gave a warm, genuine friendly Irish welcome. I was a little late arriving & she'd left some bread & eggs in the fridge with milk, yoghurt & juice so I could make something without having to go out. Very kind.
Spotless apartment, everything you'd need & more. Air fryer & egg poacher (I don't even eat eggs!) fridge freezer, microwave & a good continental breakfast selection.
Beautiful landscape & a lovely bench in the garden to relax & take in the stunning Atlantic views.
I relaxed on the sofa in the bedroom in the evening & could watch a Netflix movie on the TV in the room too.
Catriona is a delightful host, very helpful & kind. I couldn't fault a thing. Superb.
- Sukieg (9/5): Superb - Superb location and the host, Catriona, was exceptionally friendly and helpful.
Large, light and airy well furnished bedroom and bathroom.
Small kitchenette area with standard-size fridge, microwave, air fryer and electric egg boiler. Lack of worktop in kitchenette area - perhaps could replace the armchair there with a table?
- Robert (10/5): We loved it and wish we could have stayed longer. The host, Trina, was super friendly and provided everything we could p - There is a beautiful view of the water from the window and from the picnic table and bench in front of the house. The location is a few miles out of town on the Sky Road. The location is amazing and the room was great! Nothing!
- Marine (10/5): Best place in Clifden - The owner was so nice Never all was so nice
- Isabelle (10/5): A beautiful seaside house that is easy to fall in love with. - The beautiful Cloonan House is tastefully furnished with a cosy atmosphere. An ideal place for reading and writing. In the morning I woke up by the sound of waves lapping the shore. When the sun was high in the sky, I had a run along The Sky Road while marvelling at the beauty of the Atlantic Sea and the spectacular mountains.
Catriona was thoughtful and attentive. She made sure that I felt comfortable and safe throughout my stay in her house. A very lovely hostess.
- Pascalmfrey (9/5): Superb -
- Lauren (10/5): Catriona's home was so cozy, clean, and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. - The breakfast was fresh and Catriona provided a variety of choices.
- Sarah (10/5): Lovely, private apartment in a spectacular location and a welcoming host who has thought of everything. - A lovely apartment with its own private entrance. It’s tastefully designed with lots of thoughtful extras - bathrobes and slippers, luxury toiletries, range of teas, little bottles of wine, etc. Also a generous breakfast laid on. The view is stunning and Catriona is the most friendly and welcoming host. We would recommend this unreservedly! Nothing
- Peter (7/5): Good - Large comfortable bed and large room
Nice overhead shower
- Harvey (7/5): Good - Host was lovely, very friendly and cosy room. The water from the tap had a strong unpleasant smell.
- Daisy (10/5): Fabulous! - Very private and separate from main house. For us, we had family staying just up on the upper sky road so it was so convenient to see them and only an 8 minute drive into Clifden !
- Alina (10/5): Really enjoyed our stay! Close to the beach, close to town centre and yet in a peaceful, beautiful location! Higly recom - Exceptionally clean, host amazing!
- Webb (10/5): Exceptional - The location was great: we could see the ocean from one of our sky windows and the other overlooking a beautiful hill that had two white horses. I will post pictures once we settle in our next place. Catriona was also a very good host. My partner came down with food poisoning, and she was very kind and accommodating
- Manuela (10/5): Cozy Attic Apartment with Sea View - The accommodation is very clean and spacious with a separate entrance. There is a large shower and an electric fireplace that creates a cozy atmosphere. Breakfast is self-prepared, with ingredients provided in advance upon request. All necessary appliances are available. Catriona gave us a warm welcome and was very helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would book again anytime.
- Zachary (10/5): Exceptional - Catriona is a really attentive host who goes the extra mile making sure the place is well-stocked. Great location on the beautiful Lwr Sky Road, ideal for exploring one of the best cycling loops in Connemara.
- Aisling (9/5): Come for the views and stay for the hospitality - Catriona the owner was so helpful and accommodating to us during our stay! We felt like we were in a home from home, the suite was cosy but roomy and the facilities were excellent.
- Maggie (10/5): Exceptional - The hostess was very friendly and helpful. She clearly put a lot of effort into the creation of the room and there were many extra details included - she thought of everything. The bathroom was large and well supplied There was a binder in the room with lots of information about the area which was very useful. Communication with hostess was very good with prompt replies. The location was good. We enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely come back.
- Peter (10/5): We had a lovely time, and we'd recommend it to anyone seeking peace, quiet, and wonderful views. - Catriona has been hosting for a couple of years now, and her experience shows. She's thought of everything, from fresh flowers in the room when we arrived to fresh fruit in a bowl for breakfast—in addition to yogurts, cereals and various breads and sweets to fill in. The space is a beautifully refurbished suite of rooms in the “attic”—one flight above the ground floor—so you do have to duck if you come too close to the side walls. (It wasn’t a problem for us at all, but we’re only of average height.) The bathroom is spacious, with a small chest of drawers for toiletries. The fixtures are new and sparkling clean. Two skylights in the main bedroom are outfitted with velux windows, one looking up a cliff face inland and one giving onto the ocean and islands in the distance. You can open them to get as much breeze as you would like. We didn’t even need or bother to use the gas-log heater, but it would be cozy if you needed it. The place is quite convenient (by car) to the rather bustling town of Clifden, the unofficial center of the Connemara, yet it's an entirely peaceful and idyllic country environment. Really nothing we didn't like. It's a five-star all the way with us.
- Gérard (9/5): one of the very best base to visit Connemara, with a splendid environment - The location is on sky road and the view on the sea and the other peninsulas is fantastic, even through a window in the roof. One is at the far end of Europe. Yet the town of Clifden is 12 minutes away and it has plenty of pubs, and the festival in september. It is the optimal place to stay a few days to visit all Connemara
Catriona has been very attentive to our needs , indications to find the house, breakfast, and very kind. The rain and wind, therefore nothing of Catriona's responsability! But we got some sun.
- Adrian (10/5): Thank you for a fabulous break. - A fabulous place to have a break. The welcome, accommodation and facilities were wonderful.
- David (9/5): Superb - Attention to detail was excellent! The proprietor checked daily with us to ensure everything was satisfactory - this was much appreciated. The location and quietness of the location suited us perfectly. The internet connection for NETFLIX isn't the best - bur that is not the fault of the proprietor! Other than that, an excellent place for relaxation and a great base for exploring the locality.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - Everything is done with love to details, you feel very welcome and the communication with the host is easy :) the bed is comfy, the views out the window are amazing and the next supermarket is only a 10min drive (if even!). We would highly recommend and would definitely come back!
- Paul (10/5): A perfect short stay - What a wonderful stay. Please be aware that I am writing this review having spent 2 nights at Cloonan House with some of the best weather in Ireland for years, it was perfection.
This is a perfect place for couples to stop off for 3-4 days whilst touring Connemara and the West of Ireland.
The views are stunning to the front you look out across to sandy beaches on the other side of the bay, to the rear the hill rises up to the Sky Road. In the mornings my wife and I took our breakfasts and sat at the front of the house, looking our over the sea, watching the small birds, it was to peaceful, absolute perfection.
The house is perfectly located for night's out in Clifden without being in the heart of the town, it is a 10 minute drive or cheap taxi ride back. Before I comment on Cloonan House I want to highlight a couple of must dos during your stay 1. Kylemore Abbey could be the best tourist attraction in Ireland, it is an absolute must. 2. The fabulous 5 Km Broadwalk to the Alcock and Brown landing site, superbly done by Tourist Ireland, through the peat bogs, an easy flat walk with great interactive information as you walk around, we spent 2 hours walking 5 Km, loved it. 3. Bunowen Bay, absolutely spotless not one piece of rubbish on the beach, free car parking, beautiful clean sand and the water crystal clear, no lifeguard but they do have a 1200m sea swim mapped out with buoys a gem of a beach and well worth a visit.
Then finally to Cloonan House and Triona, what a fabullous host, Triona has built the perfect retreat for a couple of days R&R. There is a lovely big room with a large bed, a sofa, chest of drawers, large TV, good WiFi everything you need for a few days stay. The bathroom was absolutely spotless and it was full of bits and pieces that you might have forgotten.
There is a fridge that Triona overstocks with food and drinks for your continental breakfast, it was very generous. The rooms exceed what you need and are perfect to come back to. There is nothing we didn't like but I will write two lines to consider whether this is the place for you, firstly there are stairs up to the room which might not suit everyone and secondly the Mind Your Head signs are there to warn you that there is a sloping ceiling, you may bump your head but you have been warned and don't let that put you off because the pros out way the cons 1000 fold.
- Marcia (8/5): Lovely setting to spend the night with ample breakfast items to get us going in the morning. - Quiet rural setting. Host provided fruit and breakfast items as well as a small refrigerator.
- John (3/5): Poor - The attiv. Room da gerous. Stairs
- Jan (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutelly clean and very nice!!!
- Stedman (10/5): Was very happy to stay the night, sorry we couldn't stay longer. - Beautiful location, comfortable and spacious room with an incredible view from the skylight. Substantial breakfast which left us both stuffed full. Private entry and well-equipped bathroom.
- Harriet (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennifer (10/5): the host was like family!!! very helpful and communication with us was exceptional! - best of the B&B’s we have stayed in! most glorious views , even from the skylights in the room nothing,,,, all was perfect!
- Milan (10/5): Excelent! - My partner and I didn't like this place. WE LOVED IT! Fantastic place to stay. I wouldn't say I liked the fact that we had to leave.
