- brian (10/5): Great - Lovely comfortable house with a super comfy bed
- Sam (10/5): - Really clean, decorated nicely, coffee machine. All good!
- Andrew (6/5): Whitby Weekend - The location is great, short walk into Whitby.
Good size TVs & good wi-fi The beds were very creaky & very uncomfortable, there was no microwave. In the description it says 1 double,1 extra large double & 2 singles, this isnt the case & this should be removed from the website. The cleanliness of the property needs addressing as it wasnt to a good standard.
- Ulrich (2/5): Beautiful apartment, but no heating or hot water The apartment itself is very nice – well laid out, tastefully decorated -
- Wing Cheong (9/5): - location, free parking , comfortable toilet on 2nd floor
- Lynn (8/5): - Clean, comfy king size bed, coffee milk etc nice touch, good quiet location. Could do with a coffee table in the front room
- ZIQIANG (10/5): - 房间干净整洁,地理位置很好,步行到主要景点都很近 没有
- Michael (9/5): Nice place would definitely recommend. - Very clean and a great location. Only did the one night but would have been great even for a week or more. Nothing.
- Ramla (5/5): - Location was good, good sized rooms Doors didn’t close properly as if they either weren’t fitted right or had expanded. The property was also fairly unkempt, quite dusty and not entirely suitable for children.
- David (7/5): -
- Charlotte (1/5): - Unbelievably poor!!!
We were unable to gain access to the property due to their cleaner inputting the wrong code in the key safe.
We were unable to contact the owners until 10pm at night, when they told us we wouldn’t be able to get in at all.
We were left having to book last minute accommodation (thank goodness there was some available but it wasn’t easy to find!!)
I’ve given the property weeks to arrange a refund and chased them up multiple times - I have had little apology and no resolution from them.
Very disappointing and appalling service.

- James (9/5): Lovely find in Whitby - Very clean. My daughter loved the shower 🚿. Bedding very comfortable with good amount of pillows. All TVs were smart ready so able to watch Disney, Netflix etc in the evenings.
Kitchen had everything we could possibly need Toilet was a bit loose from the wall, kids mattresses were a little 'bumpy'according to them.
Could have done with a lamp in the lounge.
They moaned about the amount of stairs- I told them go rent a bungalow
- Cheryl (6/5): -
- Leslie (6/5): Parking available and house was very clean with food facilities. - It was very clean. Only toilet was on the top (2nd) floor so when watching tv in the living area it kept you active when needing to visit the loo. Also same through night for those on 1st floor.
- Sylvia (8/5): Very enjoyable would stay there again - Location No where to sit out
- Kim (8/5): -
- Sareena (8/5): Very good -
- Carole (10/5): Super house, great location, lovely and welcoming with some very thoughtful touches - Nicely located slightly out of the main part of town Parking is an issue but that isn’t a massive downside as parking is an issue everywhere in Whitby!
- East (5/5): Not A Good Experience - Good location Nice place, shame about lack of cooperation.
Because we were a visiting lifeboat en route to various locations, our requirements were made obvious to the owner before booking.
After a crew member had an accident, I asked the owner by email if he can supply sheets, etc, so that Sofa-bed can be used on our return trip.
The answer was frankly unbelievable, quote, "it's for private use only."
So, on arrival, we tried to manage the situation.
As a result, I received a phone call from this chap who said, "The Sofa-bed was badly marked, and we were responsible."
He also soon said that I was "taking the piss."
I quickly decided to end the call.
Note that we left the place as we found it. No mess and definitely no marks to furniture anywhere.
Very disappointed, not a good experience.
- East (6/5): Nice place, very steep stairs and bad management. - N/A I asked the host if he could supply blankets for the sofa bed after a member of my small team couldn't manage the very steep staircase after she had a fall. I was told that the sofa bed "was for private use"
Well that's a new one for me, especially after explaining our situation. What is a sofa bed for especially in the living room in front of the TV?
Today, after a very rude call from the host accused me of marking his sofa bed, I most certainly can't recommend this place to anyone.
- Karen (9/5): Whitby weekend - Loved Hilltop house ..cute and comfortable esp the big bed ..great location too Just needs a hanging rail of some sort there was a hook on the back of the bedroom door just could of done with a small rail too
- Chris (6/5): Could be better - Whitby is a great - if the sun is out
Comfortable beds and sitting room Wobbly toilet. Toilet was not bolted to the floor. Toilet seat not fixed to toilet .
Shower unit was not suitable for low ceiling room. Shower head was fitted below head height so you had to bend down to use it. Shower curtain did not stop water getting all over floor.
Minimal storage space in double bedroom
No microwave in kitchen.
- Dave (9/5): Superb - Great location despite the hill
Lovely house with everything you could possibly want in it. Fully stocked with everything.
Very clean, quiet and comfortable
Great shower
Plenty of sleeping options
Friendly and helpful owner WiFi didn't reach top floor so couldn't watch TV in bed but a very small gripe
- Anthony (8/5): Hilltop House - walk into Whitby! - Whitby was very busy (on a very sunny Saturday with market / rair / band on water front. The property was a short walk to all the facilities. The 2 bed property had 1 bathroom on the top floor but was no problem for us as it was next to our bedroom. We had a big problem parking near the house (the town was extremely busy and our location is a "free parking" area) . We got parked eventually. Also had a problem with late notification of the door access PIN. We travelled to the location having written down the post code and "a PIN" earlier in the morning. Not the correct number so after a number of phone calls managed to contact the owner who gave us the correct number. Please advise future occupants of the correct PIN well in advance.
- Ryan (9/5): Superb - Brilliant location, very clean and tidy.
Lots of space in the house. Parking was a struggle
- Isobel (10/5): Wonderful relaxed stay - Cozy house within easy walking distance of everything in Whitby.
- Andrew (9/5): Fab stay would stay again even though we had to park down the street. - Fab stay, comfortable Bed, lovely goodies to start our holiday off. Near the town good all round. Parking was a bit of a problem, had to park down the street away from the property.
- Alyce (9/5): Superb -
- Rebecca (9/5): Superb - The house was clean, decorated lovely, had all the facilities you need, the beds were very comfy, location was great, just a 5 minute walk to the town. Easy to access keys on arrival. The only negative about the stay was parking. The street is narrow and lots of double yellow lines and limited parking space. We did park on the front of the property as there were no yellow lines and no other spaces nearby but it is the end house so large cars coming round the corner struggled and we did get a car beep at us and one neighbour walking round my car looking in. It's a shame that this is the only negative as everything else about the property was excellent.
- Kieran (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mspum (6/5): Pleasant - Living room 1.No Parking space and difficulty to find
2.Unclean
3.Dusty
4.Location is far from tourist attractions and unlike the picture
5.Bed too soft
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Trudy (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely house with a huge comfortable double bed!
Check in was 3pm but the property was made available for us from 12.30 which was a bonus since we were only there for a cheeky 1 night away.
Would stay again.
- Catherine (9/5): Beautiful little stay - Lovely little stay close to everything. Well looked after and stylish. Only tiny thing to make it better would be a microwave and bit more heating downstairs but would definitely stay again. Much better than soulless chain accommodation!
- Philip (8/5): Very good - Responsive communication.
Accommodated early check-in.
Bathroom, kitchen, bedrooms very clean.
Convenient location.
- Robert (1/5): Couldn’t get in and wasn’t able to contact the host so had to give up trying and abandoned our stay. - Book with caution. We had to abandon our planned one night stay in this property as we didn’t receive the code for the key safe until almost 3 hours after our agreed arrival time. We made call after call to the number provided, but all went unanswered. Then having left numerous voicemail explaining we couldn’t get into the property and receiving no response we eventually gave up and returned home. With two young children we couldn’t wait around indefinitely. We have since received a refund which is the absolute minimum. Don’t recommend.
- Cath (9/5): Hilltop - Nice house in a good location 10 minutes to town.
Well equipped kitchen , comfortable beds.
Would visit again. Nothing
- Ann (8/5): Was ok for 1 night but would not return if I’m paying £195 for one night I would like it be to perfect - Everything you needed in a small space for one night
beds were comfortable Could do with a little TLC paint work a bit shabby lots pealing off, bedding didn’t look like it had been changed as there were fluff and bits at the bottom of the bed were your feet go, bath panel not clean, all cleaning facilities just thrown on shelf in hall way, slugs in hall way at night.
- Mei (5/5): Passable - Unable to search network name provided for access Wifi and was told to use a Hotspot from mobile after communicted with host for over 1 hour. No microwave provided which is listed under kitchen facilities. Bed sheet is too small for cover mattress and quilt is with stains.
Three-storey property with toilet on 3rd floor, not suitable for old-aged.
- Malcolm (9/5): Superb -
- Stennett25 (8/5): Very good - Comfortable. Homely. Clean Parking.Really struggled to find a space close.
- Emma (7/5): Good just needs some finishing touches - The house was in a really good location. The sofa is comfy and the main bedroom is really well decorated with a large bed. The house feels like it needs some finishing touches such as lamps in the twin bedroom and the lounge.
There was some wall damage caused by damp. We weren't warned about it until an hour before check in but having read reviews afterwards it seems it was known about in advance of our stay.
- Andrea (9/5): Convenient and cosy house for group of four - Fresh and stylish decor. Location is ideal for town centre. Lots of stairs in the house and a bank to walk up from the town so not good for people with mobility issues.
- Elizabeth (9/5): Our stay here was great. Amazing location and extra special touches were very much appreciated. Host was very responsive - Great location, just a short walk down the hill into town. Nothing, it was great!
- Leonora (4/5): Don't go there - Nothing really. There is no parking at all. The house was freezing. Thick dust on all the ledges. Bedding smelled musty. There was a huge amount of dirt on the floor inside the frame on the double bed. I woke up several times because I couldn't breathe properly because of the dust content in the room.
- Maxine (7/5): Good -
- Caren (3/5): lovely place, but i lost a key when inside and felt scared that i could not get out in an emergency - it was beautifully presented clean and comfortable. the coffee maker and milk frother were a lovely touch. i am an air bnb host myself so am very aware of relevent expectations.
i could not find the key code, the email said i would be sent the code seperately, so i was looking for an additional email, when in fact the code was at the bottom of the same email. i was not warned that there was no signal at the property so could not access email for entry code whilst at the property door, a warning about this and an instruction to join their wifi before gaining access would have been useful.
i am concerned that the the property did not meet current fire safety guidelines on .gov as i understand them. it is my interpretation that it would need 1) egress in a fire without key, 2) wired smoke and heat detectors, 3) a solid 44mm door between kitchen and stairwell.
the battery operated smoke detector ran out while we were there, we had to disarm to stop the buzzer.
i could not find any instructions for the coffee maker or milk frother, it took me about an hour to work it out.
- Andrew (8/5): Lovely location - It was comfortable and in great place. There was nothing to dislike. Some lamps in the living room would be nice and perhaps a small bottle of milk for guests to make a cup of t with when they arrive.
- Rowe (10/5): Exceptional - The house was lovely and in a brilliant location
- Kelly (8/5): A fantastic little property, perfectly situated. - It was located in a fantastic location, 15 minute walk from the town. It was clean, it has a comfy king sized bedroom. It was warm. There mould on the walls in a few places in the lounge. Some of the crockery wasn’t clean.
- Charnock (7/5): Whitby Cottage - Fairly close to all amenities a 15 minute walk to the main centre.
If you have immobility issue just beware its up a steep hill but fine to walk up if active. The cottage could do with a good clean it was cosy but dusty and the woodwork needed a wipe over and the floors a mop, otherwise comfy beds and sofa very nice quiet area.
We had a problem with the boiler and the hot water didn't work the 2nd day so we were unable to have a shower which was unfortunate.
Fairly good value for money for a short stay and prompt replies from the owner who is very helpful.
WiFi is also available.
- Alison (8/5): Very good - Clean house bathroom was gorgeous beds were clean and comfortable couldnt fault the property itself Location, i know it says it in its name hilltop house but the bank was to much for a few older people of our group had to rely on taxis ,
Checkout 10am the cleaner turned up and was on opposite side of road around 9.45 then with a few minutes to 10 stood on the doorstep, felt like it was one mad rush to be out on time
- Sharon (6/5): Nice enough for a 2 night stay but too far away from Pavilion for us. - The house was fine and well equipped. A friend found a dusty sock behind the bedroom door and only toilet was on 2nd floor which caused another friend a problem.
- Jordan (9/5): Superb -
- Jo (9/5): Had fun - Lovely property, close to the town centre. Damp issue in the living room, walls had peeling paint, looked as if it had been like it for a while.
- Valda (9/5): Lovely house very comfortable - Good location lovely house T was excellent
- Martin (8/5): Comfortable stay - Nice clean house Parking
- Colgate (8/5): Very good -
- Torrance (8/5): Very good - Good house , clean and fully equipped. Comfortable. Parking not good we got a ticket even with a disabled badge , and getting up hill no good if you have any leg or breathing problems .probably wouldn't stay but only for that a younger couple.would manage well .
- Amee (9/5): Absolutely wonderful! So homely that we actually were eager to get back and get cozy. - Lovely clean property, decorated beautifully. Everything you could need in the kitchen. I can’t say I didn’t like anything it was perfect. My only criticism would be that curtains in the bedroom would have been better as my baby struggled to get to sleep. But that’s really not much of an issue
- Matt (9/5): It was a relatively short stay but would be perfect for a longer duration. - Cleanliness, and location Happy with everything, maybe a microwave would be a plus in the kitchen?
- Elaine (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ross (9/5): Superb -
- Wharton (10/5): Exceptional - Easy access to whitby bay and the house was nice clean and tidy. N/A
- Darren (10/5): Exceptional - Good location 5min walk to town centre. Excellent value for money . Very comfortable and clean No wardrobes to hang clothes . Fine for a couple of nights. Wouldn't be so good if there for a week .
- Cheryl (8/5): Very good - Lovely well kept clean property in an ideal location!
- Merian (9/5): Very convenient place to stay in Whitby - Great location, easy to find
- Katherine (10/5): Lovely property, very clean & well maintained - The property was tastefully decorated and very clean It was very difficult to park
- John (7/5): Bikers on tour - Nice and clean. Not as described. There aren't 2 double beds in Bedroom 2 as the listing suggested.
- Tania (9/5): Lovely one night stay with accomodating host - The location was excellent, including details of parking, and we were allowed to check in early as soon as the host found out we had arrived, which was lovely. We were also granted a later checkout as there were no guests checking in; this flexibility was greatly appreciated. The coffee machine was a lovely touch, and although it said there were no towels, there were some provided. The throws for the living room were lovely also. It would have been nice if there were some fresh milk in the fridge and a couple of extra toilet rolls, just for the arrival and settling in, although this affected the family rather than me as I like my coffee black.
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (10/5): Great place and location - The place was very clean and a lovely touch with milk, biscuits, and coffee. A microwave would be a good idea if possible. The bed was comfy, and the shower was perfect. Location fab Nothing
- M (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean, good facilities such as tea and coffee and a pint of milk in the fridge. Nothing really
- Joanne (9/5): I would recommend this place for its location and cleanliness. The owner has helpful and accommodating with good communi - It was exactly as shown in the photos and the bedrooms were a little more spacious than I expected No microwave
- Jonathan (9/5): Great stay in a lovely location with easy access into Whitby - Great location and lovely clean house in a street up behind Whitby Rail station. Easy to get into Whitby but a bit of a climb back up (as you would expect). It was ideal for what we wanted
- Julie (4/5): Whitby its self was a lovely welcoming place to visit with the appropriate accommodation. - Not applicable Bathroom was at the top of the building . Water poured from under the bath when used. Radiator not not fixed to the wall and can fall at anytime. WC pan moves when used not the”seat”. Needed to safe guard my Granddaughter each time she used the Bathroom because of the radiator. The owners have gone to great lengths to make this accommodation a very nice place to stay a few added facilities could be considered like a microwave a few side lamps in lounge. It is fair for me to say the pot standard of cleaning has let this property down by a huge margin. Had the washing machine been checked for cleanliness they would have found the previous renters washing in the machine!
- Shaun (10/5): Brilliant - Clean, warm, location, everything all good Nothing
- Tracey (9/5): Superb - The location was perfect...5 mins walk into everything. There was everything you needed at the property and the communication with the owner was excellent. The mattresses in the twin room weren't very comfortable.
- Josh (9/5): Modern, Clean and close to the town. Parking was very difficult. Overall very good. - The house was very clean and modern. Heating was left on for us. A nice little touch was that there was a cup with a biscoff biscuit and tea bag inside. The parking could have been better. The neighbours feel entitled to tell you where you can and can't park. I parked outside the property (legally parked) and every car that came past was signalling inappropriate signs to me. We walked down to the town and upon my return my window wipers were propped up, I guess they have done this out of frustration as I was parked outside.
- Peter (9/5): Real very enjoyable - Location in a quiet part of time with free parking
- John (7/5): Good -
- Caroline (8/5): Very good - Convenient location. Good facilties.
- Tony (9/5): Lovely clean place to stay - Breakfast not included Great property in great location near centre of whitby
- Stevebrunning (10/5): Well presented - Really well presented house close to all amenities.
Well equipped, cosy and pleasantly decorated The bathroom on the 2nd floor
- Kate (8/5): Very good - Homely, comfortable, good location. Kitchen tap needs replacing. Floor not very clean in the hall/kitchen area but other than that, no faults at all-loved it
- Victoria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Olga (10/5): Great experience! - Charming, comfortable home situated in an excellent, central location. Grateful to the hosts for the welcoming ambiance and cozy beds. Would definitely recommend for a short or long stay! -
- Karen (10/5): Overall a lovely seaside town and a great place to stay. - The house was brilliant, very clean and modern. The location was good, 10 minute walk into the town centre. Easy to park a car.
The kitchen had tea and coffee and an added bonus was fresh milk in the fridge!. The twin beds could do with being replaced, they were uncomfortable and cheap. That said it didn't spoil our stay, as only visiting for 1 night.
- Nigel (8/5): great location, clean, warm and very easy to get into Whitby town - location, cleanliness there are no wardrobes or any hanging facilities
- Jean (9/5): Great stay in Whitby - Great location, well kept house. Really toasty warm on a freeziing cold night Parking very restricted, but a Whitby problem, but stay in long term car park is very reasonable and only a 5min walk.
- Claire (8/5): Great pit stop and could have stayed longer - Very clean, very well presented, nice and warm which we needed because it was so cold outside! The bed in the main bedroom was very soft, which if you like soft beds is great, but I prefer a more firm mattress.
- Douglas (9/5): Superb - Close to centre, had a lot of charm
