Guest Reviews
- Lynda (10/5): Spacious room, very comfortable bed & great location - Great central location, friendly staff & lovely breakfast
- Carol (7/5): Great location with kind staff in center of Stow, for a cozy getaway - Our room was in the Cotswolds Cottage portion of the property, on Sheep Street, up the street from the Davenford tea rooms and the main part of the property. The location was excellent for being close to Market Square in Stow and the bus stop. Lovely shops and restaurants nearby. Highly recommend Wellness 48 in Beautoxology around the corner. The Brontë room was smallish with a low ceiling but comfortable, private, with coffee and tea, a small fridge, plenty of hot water in the shower, and a very comfortable bed. The television was great, the desk very handy for working. The breakfast provided in the tearooms, to order, was excellent. The staff were attentive and kind, above the call of duty! Huge thank you to Ravi for her assistance. We could not control the temperature in the room except by opening the window. Occasionally noisy guests on the stairs and above us (earplugs provided.) Drain in the shower a bit slow.
- James (8/5): Great location and great service by staff. In a very old building with some quirky aspects to it. - Location superb. Stairs to rooms not good. Breakfast was excellent; appreciate the excellent service. Was not prepared for the meandering and uneven stairs to the room. Floor of room sloped and has several uneven spots.
- Beverley (8/5): - Location great Bathroom very small, leaky tap. Door to room
Old with big gap underneath.

- Paul (7/5): Matig, ontbijt is prima.
- Timothy (1/5): Dilapidated Rooms - Location Radiator did not work
Shower did not work
Plugs did not work
Damage to wall

- Susana (7/5): Overall good. - Location, staff, tea room, breakfast, cleanliness, toiletries provided, snacks provided. The mattress has completely lost its shape, it is sagging on both sides. Some windows do not close, so it is drafting, however the heating works perfectly. The smell of cooking as it is above the tea room kitchen.
- Vitantonio (6/5): -
- Taylor-Leigh (9/5): Cute, cosy Cotswold stay - Cute property with a very cosy feel. The location was perfect for the wedding & events we attended over our stay. The breakfast was superb & the staff were very accommodating, as they let us check in late & leave our bags for a few hours. The lighting could have been slightly brighter in the bedroom, but it wasn't a major issue. Very tall people would struggle in the 'Hobbit Room' due to low ceilings/beams.
- Emma (8/5): -
- Sarah (8/5): A lovely friendly location to stay in the heart of Stow - Location is perfect, hosts are very nice & friendly breakfast was delicious with good choices.
Bed is huge & very comfortable, tea & coffee making facilities in your room is a nice touch. No heating in bathroom… it was freezing!
(Radiator not working reported but nothing sorted.
Bathroom spotlight constantly flickering when turned on
Heating in bedroom on a timer so not very warm until after 5pm
Hobbit room not suitable if you are over 5ft 10 inches tall as ceiling/ beams very low!
- Waverly (10/5): - Breakfast was fantastic. Amazing location. Parking wasn't too hard. Attentive staff. Great value. Would stay again.
- Emily (10/5): -
- John (9/5): - Comfy bed, great breakfast and nice staff. Electrical sockets not enough
- Philip Saich (10/5): A perfect base for Cheltenham Festival week! - The room was very well equipped with everything I needed for my stay, and some nice extra touches such as crisps and fudge on the welcome tray. The breakfast was excellent! The only small gripe - and this is probably down to the age of the building - was the lack of water pressure in the shower, but this didn't really detract from my overall experience.
- Rebecca (10/5): Great comfortable stay in a central location - Breakfast was great very comfy bed and facilities Received a lot of emails prior to arriving. Found it a bit hard to work out which door to access. But loved the location and staff were super friendly.
- Oli (8/5): Lovely Relaxing break in a Beautiful Part of the Cotswolds - The breakfast was brilliant, genuinely couldn't have faulted it. Also the main sitting area was a traditional style inn with a huge traditional fire place which was lovely. Staff were very friendly and the booking in team were able to communicate with us very well. Great stay away. Wifi isn't the best but don't worry this is shared throughout the Cotswold so a welcomed break from the frantic news.
- yvonne (9/5): Would recommend a stay here, very personal stay when staff leave the cafe at approx 5.30 till approx 7am having a full E - Cosy, comfortable, very warm and clean with an excellent cooked breakfast We stay in the hobbit room which I think is above the kitchen, our sleep was disturbed earlier than we planned by some noise, sounded like extractor fan feel awful for highlighting this small issue
- Gemma (9/5): Brilliant spot with gorgeous room and yummy breakfast - It was so cute was a 3 minute drive to the event I was attending so location was just what I needed. It has a lot of character in the room gorgeous setting and such a cute spot The shower could have a little more pressure but it was absolutely fine.
- Natasha (8/5): Great place to stay! - The rooms were so nice and the hotel was in a good location. The WiFi was dodgy and kept cutting in and out or just didn’t work
- Lauren (10/5): Beautiful! - Staff were lovely, breakfast was beautiful and the bed was so comfortable! A little difficult to find for check in, clearer instructions via email would have made it easier
- Pete (9/5): Very pleasant and good value - The breakfast was very good
A good location above the cafe
Good to have a big bath and shower Another socket for the kettle
- Angela (10/5): The team were so friendly and helpful especially as we had a 20 month old so they helped us with our bags and ensured we - The location was fabulous , right in the heart of Stow . The charm of the interior made the trip ever more memorable There was nothing I didn’t like - it was fabulous
- susan (8/5): Excellent location in the Cotswolds and would definitely go back to Stow again Great pub restaurants - Lovely clean room and comfortable bed great location nice breakfast Traffic noise at night and early morning however they did have earplugs provided 😊 knowing this it would not put us off staying there again.
- Jen (7/5): Perfect for solo traveler who wants to stay on the cheap - Loved the convenience and the fun tea house vibe. For a solo traveler this was perfect. Drafty bathroom, strange shower and needs a bit of a refresh on carpet and area rugs and towels.
- Tony (9/5): Wonderful - Lovely place to stay in the middle of the town. Room was spacious and very cosy, the staff were very friendly and welcoming. Lovely choice of breakfast items and very fresh and cooked to order. Would highly recommend staying there.
- Jodie (7/5): - Beds where lovely x Was far 2 hot.
- Melody (7/5): Great cute place in an awesome town. No heating on even though it was -2 so we had our hats and jackets on even when ins - The location was excellent. Parking was sometimes an issue with no dedicated space. You had to wait until the evening and then you could move your car to the street outside.
- Liz (9/5): Nicer than anticipated - The Bed and Breakfast is located above a stylish cafe in the centre of the town. The room was a good size as was the bathroom. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. It was warm and furnishings quirky. "Treats" were left in the room which were a pleasant surprise. The breakfast was served downstairs with a varied menu and nicely cooked. The communications before our arrival were excellent. There is no parking at the property but we knew this in advance. The stair carpet up to the first floor is worn and dirty but this was not reflected in the room.
- Olamide (8/5): We enjoyed our stay overall. Great location. - The location. The bathroom could have been cleaner.
- Alice (8/5): - Lovely breakfast, room was nice with a big bathroom and decent shower. Small issue in that the sofa bed hadn't been set up for us but they sorted very quickly. Perfect location, staff were friendly. Room was up very steep stairs so not suitable if you had mobility issues.
- Dan (9/5): -
- Lorraine (7/5): Lovely place, really enjoyed it. Good value - Breakfast and tea shop were great. Bed was very comfortable. Friendly staff. Great location Bathroom very small and no hot water on first day but this was fixed quickly
- Ginou (8/5): Will happily come again - Perfect location. Very central.
Breakfast was delicious! Staff are very welcoming.
- Jayne (6/5): OK room but great breakfast & location ! - Location was really good and the breakfast was great ! Sorry but the bedding wasn’t great and the bathroom not brilliant , a noisy toilet and cold in there , obviously it was an old building and we didn’t pay a huge amount but could do with some improvements.
- Sioban (8/5): Wonderful stay - Organised check in
Clean
Friendly staff
- Fiona (9/5): A fabulous weekend in a beautiful B&B - Location was extremely central to market square with all local shops, pups, and restaurants on your doorstep. The room was a great size, warm and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious!
- Samantha (8/5): Very comfortable - Great place to stay . Very close to restaurants and cafes , comfortable room .
- Iain (6/5): Comfortable but disappointing attitude. - Location was great When booking it mentioned the rate included breakfast. On coming down for a coffee and breakfast at 8am I was told that the cafe opens at 8.30 and I that I could queue at a coffee shop nearby, I queued for 10 minutes and decided to get food & coffee elsewhere on my journey. The man I saw didn't even ask if my stay was okay..
- helena (6/5): Stay at Stowe - Breakfast good, asked no egg,but egg on plate Room bedsheets not ironed, mixed pillow slips, bed soft, room very warm ,window opening restricted ,towels bleach marks on them .
- Linda (7/5): Nice stay ....feel room needs a re vamp to get up to standard ,but overall good {CHANGE BASIN please - The staff were lovely and helpful.Breakfast was very nice .Bed comfortable A cracked hand basin .....not acceptable should be changed asap !!! No hot water on tues eve, then still none wednesday morning .... no time to get dressed and inform anyone so had a cold shower !!!
- Ben (9/5): - The measure of a good place to stay is how they respond when you have an issue. I left some clothes behind by mistake and Emile and the team couldn't be more helpful in reuniting me with my clothes.
- Jaithish (8/5): Ideal, Aesthetic, charming, comfortable hotel for exploring Stow-on-the-Wold. - breakfasts, charming location, friendly staff, and cozy, clean rooms.
Ideal location for exploring the charming town with easy access to shops and restaurants There is no lift here and if one has heavy luggage it will be tough. Only Public paid parking available.
- John (5/5): Average quality room for a premium price - Very friendly staff. Central location. Room was poorly furbished for the high price. Heating broken in bathroom.
- Mario (8/5): - Staff - Location - Clean The bathroom was too cold.
- Stacy (7/5): apart from the first damp room we had a good stay. Luckily we were able to park when we checked in - We had an issue our room was "wet" there was water pouring through the window. We called the number which was on the door of the location and no answer. But then used the booking.com portal and managed to get a response. There was a break down in communication at the premises. The water issue was known but it was not communicated to the staff there. luckily another room was available so we had to pack up our stuff and move to the dry room. But if there hadn't been a free room it would have been a major issue and we would have left the accommodation and it would have ruined our trip The wet room - water pouring through the window
- Fiona (10/5): Perfect from start to finish. - Was very impressed. Right in the centre of the town. Beautiful room with lovely touches! Breakfast was amazing! We ll be back again.
- Mike (9/5): Beautiful village stay with friendly people. - Loved our stay. Very comfortable room and delicious breakfasts. Great hospitality from our fellow Saffas😉
- Zoe (7/5): Was a lovely location with a lovely bed. Just wished it wasn’t as noisy and bright in the room. - The bed was very comfy and the room was spacious. It was very noisy. The shower went from warm to scolding hot very suddenly. The central window in to the bathroom was very bright as there were no blinds in the bathroom besides see through curtains that let lots of light in, and shone into the bedroom.
- John (7/5): Clean , good location but cold 🥶 - Clean and good location So Cold no heating at all even though was told heating would be put on , sat with coat on most of the time , also did not stay in the property advertised they also have a property further down the village which is a bit misleading as it was not mentioned on booking
- Harps (10/5): - Great location, lovely breakfast. An update before leaving home would have been helpful
- Lee (8/5): - Staff very friendly. Central location
- Debbie (10/5): Comfortable and homely - Everything was perfect. Room perfect and breakfast amazing All great
- Joe Marshall (9/5): Charming place to stay with great food - The location of the accomodation is really good. In the centre of Stow, with shops, pubs and restaurants around you as well as public footpaths and nice walks also within walking distance. The building is an old very charming building and the room we stayed in (a king room) was a good size and very clean. The bathroom was a very good size with a deep bath and ample products provided. The only issue is due to the age of the building the walls are very thin. The accomodation acknowledges this and provides ear plugs and also has signs up in the hotel asking guests to keep the noise down. You cannot always account for a few guests who enjoy the sound of their own voice a bit too much! The room did not have a hairdryer which was listed and also the milk was not replenished during the day after the room was cleaned. Both issues were resolved with no fuss when requested at reception. The breakfast was exceptional. Freshly prepared with very good local ingredients and we believed good value for what was on offer. There was lots of information from the accomodation prior to arrival regarding parking. There is no on-site parking, but we had no issue parking on Sherp Street which is a couple of hundred yards away. The local food and drinking options are also very good. The chip shop and curry house were places we particularly enjoyed. The only issue we had was with the times that breakfast is served. During the winter it is served from 9am onwards. This is late for breakfast and everybody heads down at this time causing a backlog for the kitchen. We got down at 9:05 and 5 people had already ordered and so we faced a long wait. There was also a technical issue that did not help. The café is also open to the public which adds to the orders. You can do breakfast to go orders and collect earlier, which we did one day however the pastries weren't quite ready for the time we requested. The breakfast and pastries were both worth the wait and we would certainly reccomend staying here.
- Tony (9/5): Well situated, clean, comfortable, great breakfast and excellent, friendly staff. Would highly reco -
- Jagoda (10/5): - Cudowne miejsce! Świetna lokalizacja, piękny, klimatyczny pokój, przepyszne śniadanie.

- michael (9/5): Have stayed here twice before & have enjoyed every trip! - Had a really good night sleep as bed was sooo comfy and the quilt was warm and squishy. Lovely touch with little basket of confectionery. It would have been better with a walk in shower.
- Katryna (3/5): - The staffs manners towards customers we went down to breakfast on last day and to be told there not open until 9 so we missed the breakfast which we paid for ? as it clearly states on there board with rooms 830 to 10 however made a complaint the conclusion of the manager due to taking the complimentary toiletries they will not refund breakfast?
I explained that they are complimentary part of a service however apparently they fill them back up I feel this is unhygienic as people use them in shower etc for personal hygiene.
I explained that due to the use we threw them to leave minimal rubbish there was also work going on in the property downstairs the smell of paint and noisy

- Komal (8/5): -
- helen (7/5): - town was situated well with the cotswolds.
breakfast was included and nice
- Smith (9/5): -
- Tim (6/5): - Nice location and good breakfast Room was very cold due to metal windows unable to close properly
Towel rail in bathroom didn't work and heating very intermittent
Low door and ceiling so not good for anyone tall
- Shumithira Gandan (6/5): Good location, comfortable room and bed, shower could be improved. - The accommodation is located above a cafe in the Main Street of Stow-on-the-Wold. It was a good base location to explore the Cotswolds. Breakfast options from the cafe were decent, it wasn't too noisy to sleep eventhough the room was facing the street and the room was warm. The shower area wasn't very clean and the water could not go through the drain well. If high pressure isn't used for the water there is a loud sound from the motor, but more water means the shower could flood the area easily. As a result we had to take very short showers, stopping in intervals.
- Deanna (10/5): - Large room with nice furnishings. Awesome breakfast provided each day and lovely central location. Very clean and snacks provided in welcome basket were a lovely touch. We’re also super chill about us leaving our luggage and checking out a little late while we went to get the car.
- christine (8/5): -
- James Woods (10/5): - Great location. Comfortable big bed! Lovely breakfast
- Deborah (10/5): -
- Vanessa Gradidge (10/5): -
- Nick (10/5): Booking in with the agency was a terrible experience. But the venue was fine - Quirky little place just what I was looking for, warm welcome nice breakfast. Radiator tricky to operate.
- Elaine (8/5): A lovely birthday weekend treat. - The location was fantastic Head height in the top room as we are both 6 foot😂
- Otero (1/5): Stressful - The shower flooded the room and I had to spent almost an hour cleaning it because it was at night. I’ve sent a video by email but they did not gave me a solution
- Andreas (10/5): Sehr gut!

- Jana (7/5): - Posizione ottima, camere spaziose, colazione molto buona.
- maureen (10/5): - Davenford Cotswold Gardens was more than I imagined-set in the middle of the beautiful Cotswolds it was close 2 every place I had planned to visit-either by bus or walking. My rooms were quaint & relaxing. Dane & his Staff were great- nothing was too much trouble. The Tea Rooms were along the strip of lovely shops of Stow. I would stay there next time if I returned to The Cotswolds. This was in general staying in Stow, not @ Davenford Gdns.-it was extremely popular & busy during my stay & I learned quickly you had to prebook dinner every night-a lot of places closed Sun & Mon & it was difficult to find a place to eat. Sadly I was unable to try local Fish n Chips!
- Kara (7/5): Lovely spot with lovely staff, but would have liked to have control of room temp - We loved the location and idea of B&B above a cafe. The staff were lovely and the food was great. Meeting the other people who were also staying at the B&B was lovely. They noted they loved it there and have been staying a while. My mom and I only had one night stay so we had a short experiences in comparison. The main reason I need to give our stay a poor rating was because my mom couldn’t sleep due to the window being broken/stuck open for the entirety of our stay. We only realised it was stuck open when we can back and settled in for the night which was then too late to call anyone as it was not an exigency matter. We were at the top room and it was very cold. With a. Draft. The heaters didn’t work - the one in the main room was falling off the wall.
