Guest Reviews
- Lamayra (9/5): Wonderful and relaxing stay! - Location was great, short walk to all local attractions and restaurants. Hotel decorated to a high standard and super friendly staff. Nothing to note about the property itself; the reason it’s not 10/10 is more to do with the pricing of the room which felt high for the area and didn’t include breakfast (this is offered but at an extra cost).
- Jade (10/5): Just wonderful - The staff went above and beyond, the decor was stunning and the breakfast just delicious N/a
- jane (10/5): Excellent - The lady who runs Margate House is exceptional, the decor and ambience is wonderful, highly recommend
- Tracy (9/5): Santal 33. - Welcoming staff, stylish laid back luxury, and the Santal 33. Honestly I can’t think of anything negative .. totally loved it. We will definitely return.

From the moment we arrived, Suze and her amazing team made us feel so genuinely welcome and at home. Suze herself is an absolute star so warm, bubbly, and full of brilliant recommendations that kept us busy all weekend. It felt like staying with someone who truly loves what they do and wants you to have the best possible time.
The bar staff were equally fantastic, serving up some of the best cocktails we’ve had in a long time. In fact, they were so good we may have nearly drunk them out of southside cocktails altogether!
Breakfast was another highlight we wouldn’t skip for anything. The talented chef created such a unique and intimate experience, serving up delicious dishes from his pink aga was such a memorable and special touch. We’d highly recommend making time for it.
Our room was absolutely gorgeous beautifully designed, super comfortable, and with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing, luxurious stay. It really felt like a little home away from home, but better.
All in all, we had such a special time and felt so well looked after from start to finish. A huge thank you to Suze and the whole team for making our stay such a treat. We can’t wait to come back!

- Calvin (9/5): No notes! A perfect stay. - A place that delivered everything to an excellent standard. The staff were so welcoming & helpful, the food was great and the interior was really cosy and inspiring throughout. Considering the important bits, can say it's one of the best places we've stayed and a go-to for the next visit! It wasn't a major issue, but the music from the bar was slightly noisy in the later evening on just one night, but did stop at a reasonable time.
- Henry (10/5): -
- Laurie (10/5): -
- Caroline (10/5): An amazing stay like home from home - Colour scheme and artworks and staff.
- Pippa (10/5): -
- Daniel (10/5): Beautiful hotel - Lovely vibe, nice amenities, great welcome N/A
- Carole (10/5): Amazing Stay. - From the gloriously comfortable rooms to the music at breakfast, MHH is an amazing place to stay. Warm and inviting, beautifully curated without ever feeling contrived, it was the perfect setting for my much-needed weekend break — the ideal mini escape.
As wonderful as all that was, the real stars of the show were the staff. Sweet, kind, and always ready to help, they made my stay an absolute joy. From putting together an extensive list of things to do, to keeping me company while I enjoyed the excellent cocktails, the team was probably the best I’ve ever encountered in a boutique hotel. All perfect.
- Richard (9/5): We enjoyed our stay, but it was expensive for the size of room. - Staff friendliness. Breakfast. Bed comfort and the bathroom facilities. Coffee and tea making facilities. The decor and the standard of cleanliness. The room was a little on the small size (nowhere to put the case). The chill area downstairs was small - it could take only a couple of guests at a time, unless one sat at the bar.
- Rachel (10/5): Gorgeous cosy stylish stay - Had a great 3 night stay at Margate House - had a warm welcome, were very well looked-after, and received lots of helpful local recommendations. The room was so stylish yet also cosy and comfortable (underfloor heating in the bathroom!) with a very comfy bed and excellent shower and really nice touches like a Roberts radio. Will definitely stay there again. I cannot think of anything I didn’t like.
- Olivia (10/5): Wonderful. Highly recommend! - How do you sum up a brilliant stay? Well, Margate House had it all. Staff were super hospitable and warm, willing to assist and answer any questions (thank you for the room upgrade also!). The space has been styled to perfection, the bar downstairs alongside the drawing room were such a pleasant place to sit near the fire. Such a a charming location! We will be back! We didn’t dine at Willy’s, the in house restaurant downstairs and regret not doing so! -
- Venetia (10/5): -
- Susan (10/5): - what a lovely hotel with excellent and hospitable staff a big shout out for Suzy who was fab. Great stay
- Michelle (9/5): Lovely staff. Really Loved the fireplace and room to relax. Unfortunately weather wasn’t fab but that’s not the accom fa - Lovely relaxed vibe and decor
- Rebecca (9/5): - Gorgeous hotel with characterful, but chic decor and a lovely lounge downstairs. My room was very comfortable and well appointed. My room was directly above the lounge bar so it was a little noisy but not too late.
- Sally (10/5): -
- Anna (10/5): -
- Meg (10/5): Fantastic! Can’t wait to go back! - Absolutely everything! The interiors are just beautiful, the team were wonderful and we had such a warm welcome. The room was small but super cosy and comfortable - the attention to detail is excellent. We’ll 100% be back! Nothing!
- Edith (9/5): - Lovely hotel. Great decor. Very friendly staff. Fantastic breakfast. Would come again The rooms are pretty small for the price (stayed in King room).
- Joey Von Tomlinson (10/5): Excellent - Rooms were exceptional and beautifully appointed. Got a free room upgrade which they say they do if there is space. Amenities throughout the hotel were amazing, Le Labo in every room. Highly recommend. Short walk into town, however this is the only negative. Nice and quiet area and some nice eateries nearby. Maybe a slight negative was the hotel was very quiet however this might appeal to some travellers.
- Naomi (9/5): Lovely - Beautiful interiors, really lovely location and wonderful service. Would have liked a TV (no issue though) and the option for a hot breakfast but it is out of season so that’s understandable
- Jason (9/5): Beautiful building, great staff - Amazing decoration and comfort. Room 9 was superb. Nothing
- Lucy (9/5): We loved everything! Highly recommend Margate House for the high quality and personal touches! - The entire space was beautifully decorated from the downstairs bar/ lobby area to the bedroom. Loved all the little touches of free water, snacks, etc and lovely toiletries. The cooked breakfast was a bonus, as we were not planning to have this at the hotel, but all ingredients were top quality and loved the communal large table. There was absolutely nothing we didn't like - and once the restaurant area is open this place will be difficult to leave to sample the rest of Margate
- Jake (10/5): -
- Nico (10/5): - Really lovely stay, and very friendly staff Bar area could have been open longer, but otherwise no issues at all
- Stephanie (10/5): - The room was gorgeous, very comfy bed, breakfast was excellent and great location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing
- Ambika (9/5): - Beautifully curated house, the details really made for a comfortable stay and we wish we could have stayed longer! One night was definitely worth it, very near the central area of Margate but in a quiet residentially road by the sea. Lots of amazing food/drink spots a road away! Wish we could have made the most of the hotel bar and lounge which was such a lovely spot to chill in. Our room was perfect and we got amazing rest in the comfiest bed :)
- Sam (10/5): -
- Charlie (10/5): -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Beautifully decorated hotel - Beautiful hotel and really lovely and accommodating staff. We will definitely stay here if we come back to Margate!
- Helena Rosie (8/5): -
- Wendy (7/5): The hotel was nice a little bit like Soho house so our house prices but no facilities at the area is bad. The staff feel - It was clean and the decor was nice It was in a really awful area around it was not nice very sketchy. They lacked on facilities like for £470 not having a bathrobe slippers TV in the room a proper place to hang clothes a mirror that you could use the hairdryer and see in the mirror at the same time Not enough things in the mini bar for that price you expect a lot more
- Stephen (10/5): -
- Drew (4/5): Good location but disappointed with the size of the room and value for money - We liked the location. Despite not being in the heart of the town, it was to go back and forth. It was also really quiet. The ground floor shared space was nicely designed and comfortable. The size of the room was problematic, especially for the price paid. It wasn’t functional for two people even of a normal size. The bathroom shower was the smallest we ever experienced and individually we kept hitting our arms on the glass door when taking a shower. The small sink meant there was water all over the floor every time you washed your hands. Apart from the small bedside tables, there wasn’t space for a single chair or a tv. To sum up, unacceptable size and offering for the money paid.
- EMMA (10/5): -
- Jayesh (10/5): Perfect place to stay in Margate - Lovely place, lovely and friendly staff, highly recommended We had to leave
- Linn (10/5): Hoxton by the sea, boutique hotel super lush - LOVE Margate house. Super stylish and comfortable. Great concierge and made to feel welcome. Little extras like penny sweets in the room, crisps and posh T-bags appreciated. Breakfast in bed also great. Nothing! I would definitely stay again.
- Stephan (9/5): A beautifully presented townhouse with excellent customer service. - A beautifully presented townhouse. The decor is fantastic throughout. We received one of the warmest welcomes from a lovely member of staff; she couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful. I really liked that the hotel uses WhatsApp as a communication method (e.g. ordering a morning coffee). There was no television in the room. This is obviously a design choice. Certainly not the end of the world but nice to unwind to.
- Rachael (5/5): -
- Gillian (8/5): -
- Rose (10/5): Gorgeous and cosy - Interiors were just beautiful. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Heating system in the room was fairly inconsistent- either too warm or too cold and so had quite an interrupted sleep. Staff did try to help us with it before we went to sleep but didn’t really have much luck.
- Isabelle (10/5): Beautiful calm hotel in Margate - The hotel is designed beautifully and had such a welcoming atmosphere. The staff were lovely and very helpful, we absolutely loved our stay
- J Seville (9/5): -
- Edward (10/5): - Lovely stay - so cosy, great location and lovely staff.
- Jade (10/5): One of the best hotels we’ve stayed in - the attention to detail was fabulous - Everything! The staff were so friendly, the decor was stunning and the beds were so comfy!
- Bradley (10/5): - Incredible customer service, great location, beautiful room. Can't recommend enough.
- Sam (10/5): - Loved the decor and was a great location
- Skjævesland (10/5): -
- Mitchell (10/5): -
- Lucy (10/5): -
- Leanne (10/5): The switch off I need - will absolutely return! - Beautiful & they’ve nailed the home from home atmosphere. I booked a solo night away to switch off & that’s exactly what I did. Ava was amazing, so attentive & welcoming. I enjoyed a glass of wine in the drawing room in the evening which gives you being at home vibes. I loved the decor throughout, a lot of attention to detail. A short walk to nearby coffee shops (Forts coffee & food was amazing) and restaurants (I ate at Sargossa & Buoy and Oyster).
- Bert (9/5): -
- Francesca (10/5): The absolute perfect getaway and our favourite hotel we’re ever stayed in, it’s the perfect base to explore Margate and - The attention to detail is amazing. Every little part of the building, the rooms, and of your stay has been thought out down to the tiniest detail. Suze was an absolutely amazing host who took such good care of us. Absolutely nothing.
- Martin (8/5): -
- Stephen (9/5): Highly recommended! - Hotel and bedroom very well decorated with interesting art! Very comfortable room. Manager Suze was very helpful and friendly.
- Duncan (9/5): -
- Lesley (10/5): Great hotel located close to the beach and short walk to the centre. - Beautiful hotel with very friendly helpful informed staff
- Sophie (10/5): -
- Kate (10/5): - It’s unique with the most beautiful interiors Our room was quite tiny for the price but also extremely comfortable!
- Thomas (9/5): We loved our stay and would 100% stay again. Excellent value for money! - We were greeted at the door by a lovely lady. The interior was very funky and we loved the space. We were offered complimentary drinks on arrival as well as the room being provided with snacks and water on the house! This was such a nice touch as we arrived on a very hot day. I was even given my own oat milk for the room as I can't have dairy milk. The room was beautifully decorated, the bed was so comfy, the shower was clean with excellent pressure and we loved the shower gels so much so, we even purchased a bottle in the shop they were sold in three mins up the road! Parking is free on the road and the location is a 15 min walk from the old town. We would 100% stay again. Getting ready was a little awkward in the room we had as the mirrors were in dark areas of the room with little lighting. It would be good to put a dressing table in the room considering it was such a big room. The area with the fire place wasn't really utilised. It was also a little noisy in the evenings in the square opposite the building but I know that can't be helped!
- Joycelyn (10/5): Very Nice Guest House - We were close to everything & there is a large lounge to relax in.
Water, snacks & tea/coffee/water/fruit were complimentary too.. There wasn't anything we didn't like.
- Alexandra (10/5): Blissful oasis in the heart of Margate - Gorgeous aesthetic could totally unwind. Haeckles soap, complimentary sweets, steamer in the room, Roberts radio was lovely Very welcoming staff. Perfect location in Margate. Next to forts cafe which was delicious Nothing
- Stephanie (9/5): -
- Jacob (10/5): Would highly recommend this beautiful and friendly hotel. - Both Ava and Suze were amazing and super friendly! So helpful as well and were able to assist with anything. We had Room 6, large sea view, which I'd highly recommend. The room was large and beautifully decorated. Bed was super comfy and you could see the sea from the bed. Had air con as well which was a bonus. Hotel itself was gorgeous and loved the intimate feeling. They even brought breakfast to our room. Loved it! Two things that I thought would be nice to have in the rooms - bathrobes and a TV. Not a dealbreaker at all, but just an observation. There were no dislikes.
- Stenver Ko (10/5): This place is absolutely indulgent for your relaxing holiday! - From the very beginning steps to the house I feel homely and comfortable already! The decor and interior design in each room is gorgeous, thanks for upgrading my room. The staff was super warmly welcomed and caring for my plans even giving me some top recommendations in town, special thanks to Coral who has made me feel like home and helped me with extending my stay even upgraded my room! Everything was beyond my expectation!!
- Anzhela (10/5): -
- Meg (9/5): -
- Izabella (10/5): Exceptional experience, gorgeous house, glorious staff. - Everything was exceptional; accommodating staff, attention to detail, breakfast and amenities (LOVE the Haeckels local business touchpoint!) Suze really looked after us and was so kind and generous. Could not recommend it more! It was perfect!
- Lucy (10/5): Interior lovers heaven! - Gorgeous interiors, close to everything in town, lovely staff and delicious breakfast in bed. Can’t wait to go back!
- Ty (10/5): -
- Oliver (10/5): - Decor is incredible! Staff was fantastic & a beautiful breakfast in bed. Book this amazing hotel, 8 min walk (4 min taxi) to Old Town.
Staff recommended great hotels & hotspots.
You will not be disappointed!

- CHADHA (10/5): -

- Jack (10/5): Fantastic accommodation. The perfect place to stay in Margate. - The place was perfect, a brand new renovation with exquisite design and style, the staff were all lovely and the rooms were fantastic. Breakfast delivered to the rooms each morning was an extra treat. Would absolutely stay again.
- Alexandra (10/5): -
- Leila (7/5): Instgrammable, quaint, quiet with gorgeous rooms and overall a great base to explore Margate. - The first thing you notice about Margate House is the interior design and overall look of the place which is very trendy and Instagram friendly. Our bedroom was stunning, sea facing views. Lovely jazz on the radio. Bathrooms could do with some hooks to hang clothes and towels. More hangers for clothes and shelves for under garments etc would be handy. Bed was super comfy. Visually it was really nicely done; slightly quirky and rather colourful but in very good taste. The living room/lounge is also very pretty. There's parking and it's a short walk to the centre.
The staff was very nice and we got a room upgrade which we really appreciated. We'd definitely go stay again. Breakfast was very basic - once the kitchen opens up I hope they do a proper, hot breakfast with small tables etc.
They must serve something food wise which people come back for.
The square outside the hotel can be a bit noisy and slightly off putting.
A couple more members of friendly staff would be great to give more of a youthful and active ambiance.
A cafe type place where people can have drinks as well would be great. That would turn it into more of a hotel as supposed to a B&B.
- Ellyn (10/5): Perfect, cosy Autumn get away - Stunning decor, drawing room with log fire was so cosy, breakfasts pastries, staff welcoming and friendly providing excellent advice on local places, large beautiful room, amazing snack drawer, the best shampoo, conditioner etc. the bed was so comfy and loved the little radio in the room Not many hangers for clothes
- Hartley (10/5): A truly phenomenal stay, we will 100% be returning! - The hotel and room was beautiful and clean with lovely touches, and the staff were unbelievably kind and considerate! Nothing, everything was exceptional!
- Grace (10/5): Relaxing, home from home, stunning - Everything ! The relaxed homely atmosphere of the hotel, the fantastic staff, the decor, it was a gorgeous place and we will be back for sure!
- aidan (9/5): -
- Liam (9/5): - The breakfast was really nice
- Emma (10/5): -
- Abby (10/5): A real treat - Extremely comfortable room, the whole guest house is gorgeous, it’s been finished to such a high standard, the decor is very inspiring!
Very helpful and friendly front of house staff.
The breakfast (enjoyed in bed!) was delicious, my husband would have preferred a cooked breakfast option but the pastry and yogurt were perfect for me. The room was really big and it felt like it was missing a rolltop bath, that would have been incredible!
- Hayley (10/5): Absolutely perfect, will be returning - Everything was amazing! Nothing!
