Guest Reviews
- Kieron (7/5): Good value for decent town centre room with a lively pub below across from 2 other lively pubs - The hotel is right in the middle of the town and is also a pub. I stayed on a Saturday night and karaoke continued until about 2:00am. My room was at the top and I couldn't hear any noise at all. Bed was pretty comfortable and the bathroom quite nice Breakfast was not available despite the indication on Booking.com
- Geraldine (7/5): -
- Carl (2/5): - Check in was smooth and efficient. Accused of breaking a lamp, when in fact the lamp was not working when I arrived, had to resort to using the main bedroom light which shows a lack of due diligence and attentiveness and checking the facilities before and after. Also the shower hose was almost taking up the whole area of the cubicle and not assembled in a professional or tidy manner. Also huge red flag have now been asked to pay a full night for a late check out as I checked out at 12:30pm instead of 10:30am. Very unprofessional.
- Aimee (9/5): Fabulous will be back again no doubt - We have been before and we love it the staff are so friendly and welcoming and so chatty and we brought our daughter 7months and our stay was so pleasant. N/A
- mick (10/5): Fantastic - The staff and managers are extremely friendly
- Shane (5/5): -
- Carl (8/5): -
- Andrei (7/5): Lovely staff and great location - Great location The bed was a bit noisy, every move you make it was squeaky but not impossible to sleep with
It was acceptable
- Allie (5/5): -
- Rebecca (6/5): - Very friendly and helpful staff. Very central location in town. The bed was very uncomfortable with springs sticking into our backs - a simple mattress topper would sort that out! The location is right by a very loud main road and square which seems to be loud all hours of the night.

- TPS360 Ltd (10/5): -
- Brian (7/5): Satisfactory for my purposes. - Had little opportunity for contact with staff, but when I did, I would rate them highly. No food at this hotel. Had I travelled by car (which I didn't) parking would have been an issue!
- Joseph (9/5): - An extremely friendly woman behind the bar, showed us our room and the room itself, perfectly clean and tidy. Only niggle was the noise but it's a Saturday night, so any central location is the same.
- Colin (10/5): - The staff were very helpful, especially Lucy the Landlady who went over and above. Customer service as good as this sadly is very rare. Would recommend! Nothing.
- Bobby (1/5): Cannot recommend, dodgy (there's a reason it's the only place available on busy nights...) - Bedroom/Bathroom were clean before the ceiling leaked. I cannot recommend staying at this hotel.
The manager of the hotel is surprisingly rude and dismissive.
Imagine lying in bed and the ceiling starts dripping, then the dripping increases speed, and you can see the ceiling is getting more damp every minute that passes with no knowledge of the source of the water from the members of staff.
Then moving room in the middle of the night, only to be told the source was the flooded shower of the guest upstairs.
Then moving back to your room as the dripping had stopped and despite the leak was much more preferable to alternative room. Then unpacking after midnight and trying to settle down.
That was our experience on the first night, and after asking for a refund (for that night only), given the disturbance and inconvenience, imagine being told no compensation at all was warranted with a leak entirely ignored (seemingly dismissing it as nothing unusual, a red flag for any traveller).
- Hilary (3/5): Disappointing. Location really bad and ridiculously noisy. - Comfy bed. Friendly people VERY noisy until 3am all three nights. Impossible to sleep.
- David (10/5): This is a great location. The pub gets lively in the night but that suited me. Great staff in the bar - Great location. Excellent staff. Wi fi was perhaps a little unreliable in the bedroom at times.
- Edward (10/5): -
- Martin (10/5): -
- Eliza-Jane (1/5): - Window wouldn't close properly so couldn't block out sound from the street or bar below. Charged a £25 late check-in fee even though I called ahead and wasn't informed of this on the call. Was told there would be someone there until 1am anyway. There was a late message reply that informed me of this, which I didn't see as I was driving. I don't understand why I couldn't have been informed of this on the phone call.
- Jeni (1/5): Don’t stay here - The room was okay The noise was excessive. There was a karaoke night which went on until really late. Then there was fighting outside. Just awful.
- Hannah (3/5): Loud until around 4-5am!!!! - Good size room and large bathroom. All relatively clean. Location is exceptionally noisy! DO NOT stay here with children or if you’re hoping to sleep at all!
- Jürg (5/5): Für einen kurzen Aufenthalt ok - Das Hotel liegt sehr zentral an guter Lage Altes renovationsbedürftiges Hotel
Steile Treppen zu den Zimmern, kein Lift
- Rhys (7/5): Would use again but with some reluctance. - In many respects the location is ideal, the hotel being at the centre of town.
I know the town well but the unwary need to know that the square directly outside of the hotel can be very rowdy during the evenings & night time.
I wouldn't recommend it for single travellers or those with children. If anything, the hotel is over priced. You can stay in a hotel quite close by (5 minutes walk away) and for a similar (usually cheaper) price that includes parking & breakfast.
Basically, the Castle doesn't represent good value for money.
- Peter (9/5): Great welcome and checked in early - Location is excellent Unfortunately no food available however there are numerous places to explore
- Nigel (2/5): Noisy location, poor hotel - Nothing really Room was on third floor with no lift or offer of assistance with cases. Room was outdated with no air conditioning. Location was very loud and we did not get a good night's sleep. I would not stay there again.
- Craig (4/5): Disappointing -
- Victoria (8/5): Very good -
- Anthony (7/5): Lovely room, helpful staff but lacking in essrntial facitoes which make a hotel stay worthwhile and what you really acce - The room was very nice No lift and a lot of stairs! No breakfast facility! No lounge to sit down in!
- Frank (10/5): I booked this for my parents . They could not praise the staff enough for looking after them during there stay . Thank y - Perfect location
- Brian (8/5): Good value clean room quiet etc - It was value for money and location was good There was nothing to dislike other than there is no choice in the location
- Angela (4/5): Disappointing - The staff really friendly and a great welcome .
Lovely big room and ensuite looking onto the square .High ceilings.
Really quiet and private from pub . Lack of privacy from flats across square, - just needs blinds .
Bed needed a mattress topper please -so hard
- Andrew (10/5): Lovely place to visit - Nice modern rooms, good busy atmosphere in the pub. Parking around the corner was £3 for 24h. No complaints here
- Catherine (4/5): Terrible place to stay if you require peace. - Bar staff were pleasant when we arrived. Did not like the loud karaoke music till 2am and the noisy shouting drunks in the square outside.
We only found out after we had paid a non refundable payment that there could be loud music into the early hours.
The traffic was noisy too.
- Nigel (4/5): Disappointing -
- Teresa (7/5): Friendly staff and good central location - The location was central so easy to get everywhere on foot. The staff were very upfront in explaining that as it was a Saturday it would be noisy as there was karaoke until 2:30 am, which was fine for us. They were very friendly. It’s a shame they don’t serve breakfast but there are options nearby. The beds were not that comfortable unfortunately but fine for one night.
- Chris (8/5): This is where we will now stay when next in Haverfordwest - Good location in the heart of Haverfordwest Parking is a short walk through the town
- Cook (8/5): I was courteously treated and the advice given to me about parking and local food outlets helpful. - Breakfast was not on offer Better sound insulation on Saturday night!
- Sharon (10/5): Staff was wonderful thank you so much - Rooms was very clean Superb 10/10
- Murphy (8/5): Very good -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Johny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Birkett (2/5): Very poor - Shannon the staff member was super very friendly and efficient The room was very poor, furnished by someone who doesn't understand design and should have employed someone who does. One bedside light was faulty and the mattress has to be the most uncomfortable I've ever encountered. We decided to sit up all night reading while sitting in the chairs provided. They need voilles on the window for privacy, they don't provide breakfast. The sash window was missing a side rope support so you couldn't open the window safely. The paper on the ceiling is peeling at the edges. They need a table lamp near the tea tray so you can see what you're doing, and the bathroom is too dark the hook on the bathroom door was missing . I could go on but really life is too short .
- Kelly (7/5): Good - Comfortable bed, lovely shower, plenty of coffee ☕️ tea, sugar Was a little low on the detail of broken items like drawers, screws under TV hanging off wall,no hanging for robes or else toothbrush holder, maybe another shelf in bathroom missing bulb in ceiling light
- Sundaravadivel (5/5): Passable - Good location, clean unmanned, unserviced, no food, no breakfast, pubs only, no restaurants
- Kevin (1/5): Pidgeons and Shit All Over Room, Locked out for 1.5 Hours, Late CHECK IN FEE - location good everything
- Macaulay (4/5): A drinking pub full of local drunks with some rooms upstairs - The rooms appear to be partially refurbished recently in the main bedroom area. Noting like the description or the photos.
No food being served just a drinking / Karaoke pub
Pub shut at 8 so had to walk around town trying to find something to eat after a 5 hour drive.
Un-secure parking down a dark alley and in the towns pay & display car park.
No hot water in the shower.
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional - The staff and management were very welcoming and flexible with my check-in and even showed me how to get to the car park.
- Fiona (8/5): Very good - Lovely room, comfortable bed. Lovely staff. No complaints here
- Sean (6/5): Its a decent place - Good sized rooms in a good location and nice bathroom. The tv was small and the beds gave me a sore neck and one of the windows wouldn't open and the stairs were a killer.
- Michael (10/5): Pleasant staff who made us feel at home; nothing too difficult fir the staff - Friendly saff, Cleanliness and close proximity to town centre Nothing
- Gordon (7/5): Okay - Comfortable bed, friendly staff. Very noisy town center location (Friday & Saturday Nights). Hoolie vans and trouble kicking off in streets, noisy area near to Taxi rink.
To make matters worse Town Council cleaners appeared at 7am on Sunday, right outside the hotel and square with a noisy leaf blower to clear up all the litter from Saturday night, this went on for an hour at least..!
- Tim (2/5): Noisy at all times. Avoid. - The room was a good size, with a comfortable bed and a decent shower. The staff were friendly and welcoming. It would have been ok if it wasn’t in Haverfordwest! The noise from the city square outside was ridiculous, with drunk locals arguing loudly until 3am and boy racers noisily tearing through the city. We booked at short notice, midweek, and paid well over the odds for what was a basic room above a pub. There was no hairdrier for my wife. The floors were noisy and creaky. Honestly, if you think you need to stay in Haverfordwest, think again.
- Viktors (6/5): Pleasant -
- Richard (4/5): Distinctly average - None Being able to open the window
- Jill (5/5): Not very impressed. - Nothing Bed Uncomfortable, Shower not working properly, no Bath Mat, no Milk for Tea or Coffee, No Housekeeping..
- Melvyn (6/5): Pleasant -
- Aimee (10/5): Affordable, amazing and would come back - Great size room for us and the bar downstairs was amazing with the karaoke/music and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. We can’t fault it at all we was location to few pubs, and close to our friends we was visiting.
Perfect for us we would definitely stay again Nothing, it was amazing and everyone so friendly
- Marcus (8/5): Very good -
- Mrs (10/5): It's a great hotel with lovely views. The breakfast was super delicious. - The manager was very kind to my husband and i when we arrived. We appreciated the way he welcomed us and the way he made sure we were comfortable .We could tell he had established a relationship with some of the guest from the way they talked.I am not surprised that customers returns . Nothing
- Wojciech (10/5): Exceptional -
- Clair (10/5): Perfect over night stay - Great manager and honest couldn’t ask for more lovely family room Nothing.
- Justine (9/5): Superb -
- Christo (7/5): Good - Good enough
- Clare (7/5): Castle hotel - Lovely hotel with friendly staff and central to everything. No breakfast offered. We stayed on a Saturday and it was very noisey until about 3am outside when all the pubs and clubs closed.
- Hugh (8/5): Very good -
- Gibson (10/5): Exceptional - Elise was absolutely brilliant, couldn't do enough for us. She is an asset to the Hotel. She certainly looks after guests. The room was comfortable but could with a bit of tlc.
- Aled (9/5): Superb -
- Alun (6/5): Good value for money and central - No breakfast Shower cubicle too small
- Ian (8/5): Very good -
- Rose (6/5): Adequate - The location The difficulty parking. The hotel does not have its own parking. The town car park is near but very badly sign-posted.
No breakfast was a major problem as the conference bus departed at 8.40 and breakfast could not be found in town before 8. This should be made much clearer in the details.
- Martin (3/5): curious and not a place to recommend - It was quiet and the room was om 3 flights..no fire escape.
No breakfast, N staff around. room not made up over the week... One expects more from a hotel
- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Edward (4/5): Disappointing -
- Julian (6/5): OK but could be better.. - Location was good and reasonable size room. Staffordshire at check in were friendly and the 10% off food at a local pub was good Single room but had 2 chairs, should have been 1 chair and a small table. Very warm and even though a fan was in the room windows were painted shut so no cool air at night. Bed very uncomfortable with a squeaky headboard. Bathroom has a floor mat and a small towel.
- Terry (9/5): Superb -
- Graham (8/5): Very good -
- Janet (8/5): Wedding - Location to our wedding venue Nothing
- Lewis (6/5): Pleasant - Very convenient 👌 Would have liked breakfast available this morning
- Kevin (5/5): Passable - Staff Wet/ damp bedding, no coffee table , carpet was wet towel rack broken. No biscuits
- Chris (6/5): Pleasant - Pretty clean and a comfortable bed.
Friendly greeting on check in and shown to my room so seemed like nice people. Very basic and not as nice as it looked on the pictures tbh.
On returning to the hotel at 21:30 the bar was closed and there was no hot water! I was soaked through and all I wanted was a pint and a hot shower so that was disappointing.
No water in my room and UHT milk…. I stay in hotels every week and haven’t seen this for ages.
Think it was over priced (maybe supply and demand tbf) and if it was advertised as room only above pub, not a hotel it would be a more accurate representation.
- Lindy (6/5): Pleasant - there was no breakfast, and it proved difficult to find a decent breakfast elsewhere in Haverford West. I was there for a conference, so a good breakfast is important, and I did not have much time to find one.
- Martin (3/5): Very poor.. Does Haverford west have any pretention of being a tourist destination - quiet room No staff around after booking in all week.No breakfast provided/ Room not made up in a week stay. And if there had been a fore, the only route out was the main staircase and I was two floors up/
- Anita (10/5): It was lovely, the staff very kind and helpful - Well appointed clean and comfortable bed
- Wiliams (6/5): Pleasant - Central Very noisy evening in the Square
- Lewis (9/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - The hotel was spotlessly clean, and the location was excellent, right in terms town centre Shame that breakfast wasn't available
- Becky (8/5): Very good -
- Cathy (9/5): Superb - Staff exceptionally helpful. I had 10 week old baby and they moved me to a room mor suitable and had staff on hand to carry everything upstairs for me and next morning they even carried my stuff to car to help as I was alone with the baby Nothing
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (8/5): Good location to the train - The staff at the pub was great!
Appreciate the discount coupon for the Bristol Trader was a bonus. Need a lift to the top floor
- Ross (7/5): Good -
- Hannah (6/5): Pleasant - Staff couldn't of been friendlier and did warn us about the noise from the bar with the entertainment. Bed was comfortable. Easy to find and right in the center of town. Even though staff warned us, the other guests staying where rowdy as was the town square and windows didnt do much to block out the noise. The room was fine but photos had been taken at certain angles to make things seem more put together -alot of the finishes where bad, shower failed to get warm, dirt and cobwebs between pieces of furniture. Glad we had paid a reduced price and was fine but not the cosy stay we were looking for. Not a luxurious experience but if you just need somewhere to rest your head for a night good for that purpose.
- Terry (1/5): Don’t stay on a Saturday night - Property details & subsequent emails don’t make it clear that karaoke will go on until 1-2am. I had assumed that music would stop when pubs usually shut at 10-11pm. When I cancelled the day before my arrival date (after finding out about when the music stops, when I phoned about another matter) they refused to give me a refund.
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Adam (7/5): Good - Nothing special. Fire alarm 7am we must left hotel.
- Sss (10/5): Exceptional - The best pub, staff and rooms in West wales
- Xavier (3/5): Poor -
- Gilbey (9/5): Good atmosphere, lush rooms! - The room was alot bigger than expected, the view was lovely, and even though there was a live band on downstairs, in the room I couldn't hear them, the band was good, the bar was lively and full but not so overcrowded that it was uncomfortable to be in, (I'm a social introvert) people dancing, no dramas and generally just a happy atmosphere all round! Would definitely recommend!
- David (6/5): Pleasant -
