Guest Reviews
- Shannon (6/5): - Email from the property was not received until 1 hr before self check in time, room was large enough, had a problem with the TV, mould in the shower and there is a what I would call a large night light on the ceiling in front of the door that is on all night. Difficult to sleep with the light on all night, contacted the property owners with no response . It is located in a quiet area and easy to get to which was nice.
- Manuel Ramon (6/5): - Very central accommodation. Just didn’t like the fact that I could hear people from the other rooms and even upstairs, also the fact that there was no toilet paper so needed to buy it
- Jayden (8/5): - Clean room in decent part of town, nice bed!
- Stuart (10/5): - An overall great stay. Great location, nice spaceous room, nice bathroom.
I would defo recommend and stay here again.
1 thing that what would help, would be a fridge in the room but apart from that a happy little 2 nights stay.
- Robert (10/5): - This is my 2nd time staying at the Station Lodge. You can't beat the price, the location and both times I've stayed I had nice large rooms. It's literally across the street from the train station, and as this is the last stop on the train you literally don't hear any sounds from the train. AND the trailhead for the Orett trail is also literally across the street. This trail spiders out to many other trails. There are a ton of restaurants, shops, pubs and the awesome grocery store with a cafe called Booths. If you're looking for an affordable place with an ideal location and easy to access the building and your room with key codes. Book it!
- Wendy (6/5): - Good location for walking easy acces for train and buses. Close to shops and restaurants.
- Haden (6/5): Modern clean, great location. Spoiled by cheapness - Excellent location, couldn’t be better, very modern build, nice bathroom suite, and very clean through out. I wasn’t aware when I booked the room hadn’t got any natural light, and I found the facilities bordering a little on the minimal. Single bed site cabinet, just a hanger as a wardrobe, no tolilet roll holder, no glasses or cups; a kettle, two mugs and tea and coffee provided though.
The biggest problem for me was the noise from the rest of the rooms. There is clearly no noise insulation. First night the room opposite me were having a rather noisy conversation at 3 AM, and I was woken up by it. Second night it was the room above, with a young child stomping around with a loud this, and a weird squeak in my room.
It wasn’t particularly warm, and the bed only had a very thin duvet. There was no extra blanket provided.
Overall, quite a disappointing place to stay. Maybe fine for a night when you are inwards travelling.
- Akbar (8/5): - Mr. Liam has been exceptionally helpful and responsive in all senses. Overall great stay and shall definitely recommend.
- Andy (10/5): - Great location great host Liam very helpful large room very clean and minimalistic easy self check in perfect.
- Michael (8/5): - Room clean and spacious , lovely hot shower but no shampoo or wash. Bed a bit lumpy. No parking was a headache, parked in Station for £8 per night.
- weihua (10/5): - Good location
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Good place to stay, except for the noise from adjacent rooms. No good insulation for noise.
- Ramu (8/5): - Rooms are clean and bed are comfortable.I have good experience overall.I would really recommend the place for family trip. The only drawback is for parking. It doesn’t have a lot parking and have to book before hand for that.
- Biljana (8/5): - Gave 3 star to staff and service because we didn’t see anyone so we helped ourself to clean towels from “staff only” storage room and took the bedroom waste out ourselves.
- Celeste (8/5): - As an IBS sufferer, I always carry my own toilet roll which was good in this case as when I arrived, there wasnt any in my bathroom. Also as I stayed in the room closest to the entrance, I did fid it was quite noisy/I could hear lots through the walls. However, there is a polite notice in the information booklets to ask other memebers staying to be qieuter after 10pm. I did really enjoy the bed, had an excellent sleep. The facilities were very clean, the kettle was exceptionally clean on the inside. The location genrally was quiet, with good local amenities.
- Jon (8/5): - Great location and stay for the Lakes
- Verified traveler (4/5): Great location but not much else… - I’ve had a more comfortable nights sleep in a hospital bed! I went on a hiking trip with my son so we weren’t in the room much. However, even after an exhausting day of hiking in the Lake District neither of us could get a decent nights sleep.
There was no workable way of heating the room so it was freezing. The beds were so uncomfortable and no one had changed the sheets while we were out. Other than the main light there was only one small lamp on the other side of the room, so no way to put dim lighting on to try and relax after our hike. I also had a luminous green fire exit sign above my bed bombarding me with its jade glow all night long. The walls were paper thin and on separate occasions both me and my son could hear a couple in another room absolutely going at it!
To top it off if you left the bathroom door open after a shower for more than twenty seconds it set off the fire alarm.
The hotel was in a great location and the self check-in with codes to the property was perfect for our late arrival Friday night. However, at just shy of £300 for 2x nights out of season in January, I think maybe some actual human interaction would help justify the cost.
There was also no parking at the property, so with all the parking restrictions in the area I had to keep driving up and down the one way systems of Windermere to try and find somewhere to park.
Supposed to be cheap and cheerful but neither really…
- Sachin (6/5): - Had some issues with the checkin but owner sorted quickly. Spacious and quiet room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location and well decorated - A convenient place to stay, just a short walk from the train station. The room was nicely decorated and although advertised as cosy, it was fairly spacious. The bed was comfortable and more than sufficient amenities for a few nights stay. The bathroom could’ve been cleaner and the shower wasn’t very hot or powerful.
Great food in the pub downstairs from a varied menu.
- Anthony (10/5): - Very comfortable and great value for money.
- Chris (6/5): - Decent location thought it a bit odd tea and coffee but couldnt find any milk
- Emma (10/5): - Easy check in, nice room and good location
- Gloria (4/5): - There’s no window in room. No door at shower room. No vent, causing so wet in bathroom. No way to escape while accidents happened.
- Yeji (8/5): Affordable stay - Easy check-in
We had no windows in our room and it was a bit warm
- Louise (10/5): - Lovely location, our room was spotless and spacious.
We were able to pay for overnight Parking at the hotel but lots of free parking on the road overnight.
The staff were lovely and helpful.
- Siu Mui Rachel (6/5): - 1st floor but no regular window. Only the overhead windows. Noisy when raining
- Nicola (10/5): Basic but adequate and well located - Very basic, easy to check in and out. Room was quite hot and no windows but other than that was perfect for a cheap stop over with no hassle.
- Lisa (8/5): - Room was very clean & supplied all essentials. Located right in the town so walkable to all amenities. Very pretty village. Would definitely recommend & visit again.
- mark oliver (10/5): Excellent - Staff was friendly took our suitcase before checkin
- steve (8/5): Great location and price. Windowless room 9. - Very last min booking. 8pm.
Price was good.
Entrance was through digital key pads, which was sent via text message.
Room 9 has no windows, just 2 skylights with electric blinds which are out of reach.
There was no easy way of opening these as no stick was provided.
There is also no AC, so the room was very stuffy and a little claustrophobic.
With a bit of ingenuity, we did manage to get the skylights open and allow fresh air in.
The room itself, has been very simply done, but its all you need. All freshly decorated.
Could not get the TV to work, but was not that bothered.
Nice bed, shower, loo and an office desk.
Great location for the village of Windermere.
We would use it again, but insist on having something to open up the skylights.
- Michael (10/5): Excellent - Simple accomodation, clean, tidy and everything I needed for a comfortable stay.
- dev (10/5): - Very nice spacious room.comfortable bed.
Easy access to room codes given for room, come and has you please.
Good service by management
No parking. Only available on street, nice town with bars and food .
- Verified traveler (6/5): Simple room but close to everything - The owner, Liam was very nice and accommodating. This hotel is right by a fabulous walking path & very close to the town. Everything is within walking distance. The room is basic but does the job for a weary traveler.
- Jonathan (10/5): Great place to stay - Spot on place to stay the night really clean
- Victoria (10/5): - Wonderful property and staff very close too train station and different bus lines perfect stay very accommodating staff thank you room 9
- Sam (10/5): - Felt like memory foam beds - SO comfortable. Clean, warm, nice decor, safe, easy to check in, beautiful location, parking on the road outside is easy. Happy stay thank you!
- Simon (8/5): Great stay - The lodge is very clean and in a great location, very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful
- Owen (10/5): - Amazing stay.
- Elizabeth (10/5): 10/10 - Stayed for 3 nights, Great room, amazing location, responsive host. Will definitely be back
- Ben (8/5): - We arrived at the hotel around 8pm and the first thing that hit us was the heat the room had been set at 27 degrees so we turned it off and through the windows open to let some air in
The room was lovely and spacious, and apart from the heat was lovely and comfortable.
My only main complaint was that the shower wouldn't get hot
- Liam (10/5): Fantastic - Massively happy with our stay, the people are so welcoming and accessible, we booked two days and stayed for three. Great access into the lake, a bus stop and train outside for a great £2 journey into Grassmere and Ambleside where you can walk back for a short 3 hours down the lakeside right into bowness…We can’t recommend this place more! Honestly more than value for money 10/10.
- Simon (8/5): Excellent location for a weekend away - Excellent location and double bed in spacious room with en-suite shower/toilet .Good to have use of the health spa but it was 1 1/2 miles away so a 30 minute walk. The only disappointment was not to have breakfast in the deal.
- Donald (4/5): - This place was ok, but ruined by the fact that a manager barged into my locked room while i was in it, no warning knock or anything, and then said that he "did not know" that I had already checked in. I have never had this happen to me anywhere before. However it seemed no big deal to him; he just said, "sorry" and left.
- Deborah (10/5): - You won’t find a better value place to stay in Windermere. It’s right across the street from the train station and an easy walk to everywhere you want to go. Restaurants, pubs, shops and bus stops, are all a min walk. It’s a very basic accommodation. Our room didn’t even have windows. However it did have two opening skylights. The price was right!
- Matthew (10/5): - Nice clean property comfortable bed helpful staff, my phone died with the code to the room and had to call the manager at about 2am for the code, they answered straight away even at that time, would definitely stay again
- Verified traveler (6/5): Clean and basic - Cleanliness good. Location v good for station. Parking on road not a problem. Accomodation basic and our room had little daylight but reflected in good price.
- Curuchi (8/5): - No staff on site. Unique check in and access to room via code sent to phone. Room spacious and clean. No frills, value for money. Property looks run down outside.
- Ceara (8/5): - This is different to places I've stayed before. Didn't see another human the entire time I was there. Room was basic but spacious. The blinds didn't work properly but everything else functioned ok. There was space to park on the road right outside. Convenient for the restaurants etc in Windermere.
- Laura (10/5): - Great value and location. Orrest head and Queen Adelaide's hill a short walk away over beautiful views. Luggage can be stored in the information centre across the road before/after check-in/checkout. Can recommend breakfast in the Lakeland store cafe and dinner at Bandito burrito.
- Erez (10/5): - Self check-in, very clean and great location.
