- Wayne (8/5): Great weekend, would use again. - Location was central and was a good size for our group, great parking Nothing it was good
- Veronique (8/5): Very good - Location (a bit outside Stirling, easy to park, easy to drive in the area, nice qsouth Indian restaurant (Legend) not far from it. Spacious enough for 4 people. There isn't znything I did not like but the kitchen was a bit under equiped for me (there is an oven but no dish that can go into the oven, the pans are rather small).
- Stuart (7/5): Probably wouldn’t be back to stay. - Good sized rooms. Not very clean. Had a funny smell. Front door wasn’t the safest. Very creaky floorboards, not ideal for bedding infants. Not the owners fault though.
- Nina (9/5): Great stay - Clean and very comfortable, excellent equipped kitchen, directions and check in were seamless.
Small supermarket close by and good location for Stirling and Edinburgh Although I know it's not required, some milk in the fridge would be lovely for late arrivals.
- Iain (3/5): It’s a place to stay, but it’s got BIG cleanliness/hygiene issues, and is tired - It was located well for our purposes. We had a last minute cancellation of previously booked property, due to earlier guests causing damage, so had to look elsewhere quickly, with very limited timeframe. “Sauchie House” seemed ideal. The photos are very artfully taken. It was not clean. And it was COLD.
Beds & bedding were clean, as was the toilet, but the bathroom itself was dirty, as was bath & shower screen. Then I opened kitchen cupboards & found dirt, old food, dust, coffee grounds & old spider webs in the corners of almost all of these. Now I’ll talk about the plates, cups, etc. On display, front & centre, were two bowls - soup or breakfast - with crusted food around inside/outside. This set me checking other plates, cups, glasses & cutlery. Every. Single. Plate. was dirty/visibly greasy!
To explain, my wife & I ran a busy rental previously. , We understand it can get very busy. But if you have cleaners, you expect them to clean. Not at Sauchie House. Bare minimum. I was up till 12.30am, washing dishes & cutlery.
A old dirty scrubber had been left for washing up. I declined to use it - BIN!
A cloth/paper towel & antiseptic spray would take care of every issue I found, in those cupboards. Hot water with soapy liquid would take care of the plates, cups, etc. Grease, dirt, God knows what, on every single plate, at least one of which was badly chipped? Glasses the same, minus the chips, tea cups had tea or coffee still within at least one of them, back in the cupboard! All this could be resolved by actually washing this stuff, after every use. I used to have to do it, with my wife, to qualify for the verification from AirBnB, but clearly Bookings.com don’t have any system of checks. No check done of this property, or if it happened, it happened in the dark. With your eyes closed. And hands in your pockets.
Before I forget - no plug for the kitchen sink and no basin for guests to actually wash their plates and cutlery in? It’s the little things, like this, that make a difference. Maybe this is (in part) why the kitchen stuff was all so dirty? Just saying.
Did I mention heating? NONE. Turned off at the boiler, but instructions said use thermostat. We did. Useless!
