Guest Reviews
- Grenfell (10/5): - Loved everything about this place. Great location for walks wildlife. Lodges were beautiful inside and out Absolutely nothing
- CHARLENE (10/5): -
- Irina (10/5): Wir wollten nicht nach Hause! - Lage,Ausstattung.Es war sehr gemütlich. In 10 min.zu Fuss erreicht man Bushaltestelle .N 51 fährt nach Edinburgh.
- Jennifer (10/5): Relaxing, clean and a beautiful location. 10/10 - Lodge had everything we needed to have a relaxed and comfortable stay. The hot tub was great and views were stunning. It's my second time staying here and I organised it for a weekend away with my friends who were so impressed. Later check out time, 11 would have been better.
- Richard (8/5): - Beautiful place really relaxing Couldn't fault our stay
- Mary (8/5): Wonderful stay, lovely hot tub! - We stayed at Hunters Lodge.
General - The lodges are quite close together but it still felt nice and hot tub felt private because of the fence.
There is a little semi-skimmed milk and teabags / decaf coffee (and some borders biscuits!) if you want a cuppa on a arrival, which was lovely.
Bedroom and bathroom -
Everything was really clean, bed linen and pillows were so comfy, beds creaked a little so had to be careful not to wake the baby 😂 there were 4 rolls of toilet paper for the 6 of us, bring more depending how long you're staying. Water pressure was pretty good! There are little shampoos/ body washes in the bathroom which was very sweet, also 2 x fluffy towel bathrobes. And more than enough towels for us to use for hot tub and showers.
Hot tub -
We didn't see any staff at all, you do your own hot tub maintenance which I found a little different as I don't know anything about this! There are a bunch of chemicals and test strips, (plus instructions) one of our party took charge of this which was nice and made sure the chlorine levels were safe. Very important!
You have to wait like 30mins after chemicals enter to make sure they are dispersed in the water so just a heads up that you should try do this when everyone is having a rest from the hot tub. Other than that, it stayed nice and hot, there's no roof over but it didn't stop us in the rain! There's a rattan style lounge seating next to hot tub and pillows in a chest outside plus a wee table. And hooks for towels next to hot tub.
I emailed asking for a BBQ stand to use during our stay (we had a disposable bbq) but I didn't get a reply but I saw other people brought their own little bbq and use that on the decking so a better plan if you're looking to have a BBQ.
You can sign into your netflix/ nowtv on the TV which was nice for movie nights, the WiFi was a bit here and there and often had the buffering circle. But it was fine on the whole. Covered all above! But not much not to like, it's a fantastic lodge with everything you need for a comfy stay.
Ps (this is good also) I ran out of room above, but there's no stripping of the beds malarkey at the end of the trip to stress you out. Just take your rubbish bags out to the bin area and off you go. A fantastic stay!
- Lorraine (9/5): Superb -
- Aimee (9/5): Our stay was really enjoyable and ideal for a chill break. We would definitely return and i wish we could’ve stayed for - This was a very chill place to stay or for a short break with friends. The lodge had loads of space and was ideal for 6 of us. My friends said that the water pressure in their bathroom wasn’t too good. In the en-suite the water pressure was fine.
- David (10/5): Relaxing weekend in a stunning lodge with private hot tub - We stayed here for 2 nights over the weekend. When we first arrived we were extremely happy with the size, cleanliness, and overall look of the place. It was a stunning, spacious lodge. The hot tub was great. The information pack was extremely helpful. We walked through the woods across to Lauder in under 15 minutes, this was a nice walk. We would definitely be back! No negative comments to make.
- Liam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elizabeth (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (9/5): Perfect & relaxing stay - We stayed at the Kingfisher Lodge for a week with our dog and throughly enjoyed our stay. The lodge being at the end of the row offered a fair bit of privacy and the large decking area must be glorious in summer. Didn’t use the hot tub, but nice to have the option. We appreciated the lodge coming with its own personal EV charger for our electric car. It’s so difficult to find a lodge with its own supply… in fact I think it’s a first for us so, very pleased about that. The lodge was super, good quality equipment, well stocked kitchen, comfortable furniture and lovely views. Would love to return in the summer, but the pricing like all lodges / holiday let’s becomes silly and frustrating. That aside, highly recommend the lodge, the area is nice and our dog very much loved a few beaches we visited on our stay. No issues, but perhaps hotel / caravan nets would be a good idea for the living room windows as I noticed every lodge had their blinds down for most of their stays. Planting has been done, but whilst that grows, it may be a good idea?!
- Rebecca (9/5): Nice break away with my parents. Friendly local village. Ideal base for visit to Edinburgh. - The quiet. The hot tub. Good kitchen and outside area. It hadn’t been cleaned to my standards. Eg: pizza cheese underneath over door. Grill tray sticky. Some utensil’s dirty in drawers. Glass top missing from patio table so was bouncy for drinks. One of the dining chairs had all sticky finger marks and one of the blue sofa cushions had stains on. Double mattress was soft enough that you could feel the springs. Spare loo roll in main bathroom was filthy with dust like it had been there a while. Used towel on door hook of main bathroom. Some issues with flies when enjoying the hot tub.
