Guest Reviews
- Benign (7/5): Budget friendly - The price of the accommodation was not bad but don't expect much as you pay for cheap price. To be fair the room was clean, enough for sleeping. Towels are available.
There's free coffee, sugar, milk. There's also shared kitchen that you can cook.
It was around 30-40mins to the centre. It was a good ride as if you are having a bus tour. No trash bin in the room, we need to go to the kitchen to throw our garbage. Neighbourhood was noisy and kept slamming the doors as if they don't have hands to at least hold it. The location was hard to find, they sent an email to locate but still it did not help, I phoned the number provided but was transferred to the receptionist who was so rude. He is a black guy, sadly I forgot to take his name since he did not stop talking non sense when we finally meet. I told him we are in the middle of Morrisons and entrance of the college to my surprise his response was then you are in the middle of nowhere you should come to the entrance. Like hello, its was our first time and we traveled for long hours at least be kind and assist properly. Before I called the mobile number we were directed to wrong location until a security said it's not there so, I used the locator on the email that they sent. We are really tired and the guy on the other line was not being helpful he even said we should read where we are because it's all there. I ended up quiet, I felt its useless to argue that the email they sent was not helpful even the mobile number if he is the one who will answer. Not helpful! They should check their address again and try themselves if they can arrive to the right destination using the address and link they've sent.
- László (8/5): Very good -
- Arjun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rishi (10/5): Bang off worth for all - Location with affordable price that was awesome and all facility was arranged very nice and ordered. Will recommend someone in future Just one request plug point can be add extra USB port.
- Richard (7/5): Good - Clean, close to a supermarket. Staff showed no flexibility in providing a room earlier. Lacked empathy, beuacratic, and need to be brought into the 21st century when it came to servicing the needs of a traveller. The English are not good at providing service as they think it is below their dignity.
- Alister (6/5): Smell of weed everywhere - Location
Price Basic
Not well maintained
- Sing (9/5): Superb - kitchen is very nice
- Anonymous (5/5): Passable -
- Stefan (4/5): Disappointing - The staff, the location The room was not at all as advertised by Booking.com, small room, cramped 3/4 bed, no fridge , no towels changed, no cleaning in room for the whole 2 weeks, very noisy with fire doors slamming in the night. Not suitable for a couple, probably great for a student
- Saghir (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- James (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sachin (8/5): Very good -
- Fiona (3/5): Wouldn’t recommend - Clean and fairly close to city centre. *Noise from adjacent rooms throughout the night - doors opening and closing, loud voices talking and furniture being moved.
*Broken folding shower screen which would not close. Could only shower with the shower screen open. Needs reparing or replacing.
*No bins in bedroom or bathroom. I assumed these had been forgotten by Housekeeping, however this seems to be the norm after reading other reviews.
*No hooks in room or bathroom so nowhere to hang towels, etc.
*Pillows were cheap and thin.
*Our room was described as a double, however the beds in the double rooms are in fact all just 4ft wide, slightly wider than a standard single bed and a tight squeeze for two adults.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pamela (6/5): Pleasant - The plAce,location, cleanliness The noise in the middle of the night of a drunk male beside our room, difficilt to contact security guard to ask help
- Emer (5/5): Avoid if you can afford to pay more. - Morrisons and bus stops nearby. Distance from city centre. Heat in room and corridors was too hot. The window only opened slightly and very small. No fan available. Area didn't feel safe. Pillows flat and bed was small (4 ft) Staff weren't friendly or helpful. Poor check-in. Communal kitchen was grubby and greasy. Noisy banging doors.
- Antony (6/5): Pleasant -
- M4rbl (9/5): Superb - For the money you get crazy value, really friendly guy at the reception. Rooms were clean and we got everything we needed for the stay. I definitely recommend this place.
- Shenica (5/5): Passable - Window doesn't fully open allowing for ventilation. Room was very hot and stuffy.
- Anonymous (7/5): Good -
- Sharon (8/5): Very good - Clean, en-suite bathroom, good value No bin in the room, no parking available, check-in a bit tricky if coming at uncommon times.
- Shubham (9/5): Good - Room Size and Facilities, Staff Behaviour Only bit far from the waverly station
- Sai (1/5): Bad - Venue is accessible for wheelchair users. We booked this place off the back of positive reviews, it sounded like the kind of cheap and cheerful stay that would do the job. But the bathroom flooded while we were there, and they didn’t even bother to leave hand soap. The radiator was blasting nonstop. We asked about moving rooms but nothing came of it.
Maybe we just got unlucky. Maybe it was the bad room on the good corridor. Still, the place could’ve been cleaner. It felt a bit shady like no one had really checked the basics. For student accommodation, I expected minimal. This was below even that.
- Raj (6/5): Convenient place to travel central twon - Need to install a TV and phone
Bead not enough for two person
I room no coffee or tea
- Manon (10/5): Room ideal for a couple, 30 minutes bus from the center (bus stop literally at the bottom of the building), ideal little - The proximity to the bus stop, the cleanliness of the room, the comfort of the bed 🤩
We recommend this accommodation 100%!! Everything was perfect!!
- Sr (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sangeeta (6/5): I feel even for student rooms are definitely too small no facilities at all as a bedroom - Ok V small room and definitely not for couple it’s ok for single person bathroom not a single hooks where you can hang even towel no bin in room nor in bathroom
- Raminder (7/5): Good -
- Adeoye (8/5): Very good - The quiet environment and proximity to malls. It is also clean and well maintained and the staff that I met at the reception was so helpful and competent. The vacuum cleaner that I used when I houvered my room has a bad smell. I think it needs to be checked out.
- Todd (9/5): Nice and as described. - Very clean, well cared for. Appreciate the late \ all night check in. Shared kitchen \ living room was nice and spacious. Available laundry was handy. Room was a little small, bathroom even smaller, but doable and worked well and expected from the listing.
- Cairns (6/5): Pleasant - Good location and basic room just to sleep, checked in late and left in morning - done the job
- Jain (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bilal (7/5): Good over all - Clean room , friendly staff , value for money A but hot , no fan
- Alex (9/5): Superb -
- Shifana (8/5): Very good -
- Tina (7/5): Value for money. Great budget friendly option. - Spacious studio, self catering facilities. Grocery store close by. Bus stops nearby There was no hot water for 2 out of the 3 days of my stay. Luckily it was quite hot so could take a cold shower. Would not be ideal in winter. Vacuuming done at 6am every day
- Nguyen (9/5): Quite pleasant and comfortable - The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is so convenient to the airport, as there is a bus 17 going straight forward. Very close to a supermarket and a beach. Everything was clean, and the kitchen was equipped for cooking or just heating up. The shower and the sink drain seem to be a bit stuck. The showering experience was not really good due to that. Other than that amazing
- Makanjuola (7/5): Cool - Neat and comfortable. But, there is no sofa in the Studio as advertised. In general, it is a lovely place to be. No sofa in the Studio apartment which was an attraction while booking
- Rene (1/5): I wouldn't go back - The location was nice The staff was irresponsible to wake up calls were requested neither were given I went to use the elevator from the fifth floor the morning I needed to leave early and the elevator was locked so that I had to climb down the stairs with my baggage I would not go back there I discussed with the manager the night before the fact that the staff had not given me the wake up call she sureed me that I would get the next wake up call I did not
- Łukasz (10/5): Exceptional - Friendly staff Absolutely nothing
- De (7/5): Worth it - Very social and kind staff. The room felt very clean. The room isn't very big, but that's okay. The window could only open ajar, and there was a lot of noise from outisde, where some sort of sermon(?) Was held each night we were there.
- Iain (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (7/5): Good -
- Atmakuri (7/5): Awesome stay altogether. - Best location Very small sized rooms
- Gabriela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sophie (5/5): Passable - There's a bus stop right at the door. If you're coming from town centre, don't let Google maps take you to Edinburgh. Stop just before that one. Several other lines around.
You're 15 mins walk away from the waterfront and there's a cheap supermarket right behind the building.
The kitchen is well equipped.
Staff is nice but would have much preferred not to have that many issues to raise to them, see below. Would have given a better note but...
I was first assigned room 15A. The bathroom sink was pouring water.
Got transferred to 16D. Couldn't lock the room door without risking breaking the key inside. They also had a problem to activate the key card.
Was then sent to 20D. No desk chair in the room.
Had to go back to reception every time to raise issue. Lost the afternoon.
When I first checked-in, the guy was surprised I was alone and said I was paying too much and advised to email them to ask for a refund.
I did and mentioned issues above, no answer 5 days later.
- Walter (10/5): Exceptional - Clean and very good shower Kitchen could be upgraded , but for the amount we paid, lovely clean room thank you
- Amber (5/5): It was ok to use as a base to visit Edinburgh and luckily we didn’t need to spend much time in our room, - Proximity to city and public transport routes Lack of ventilation, property was extremely hot and there was no option to cool your room. Issues with security pass keys. Very small bed for 2 people to share.
- Saud (10/5): Exceptional - This is a student accommodation that’s great for a solo traveler. Each section has a shared kitchen with cooking tools and a fridge. The room is ideal for one person — the bed might be a bit small for two. The place is clean and about 25 minutes by bus from the city center. The bus stop is very close, right outside the building, and there’s a large grocery store within a short walking distance. Overall, a convenient and comfortable stay.
- Rohit (8/5): Very good -
- Camila (5/5): It's not worth the price - It definitely needs a deep cleaning, the bathroom had mold, the bedroom smelled like spices, like someone had cooked there and the carpet was gruesome.
- Anna (8/5): Very good -
- Kellymarie (7/5): Good -
- Farnam (3/5): Poor - Value No towel in the room. Then, the towels provided weren't washed/clean. End up not using
- Malik (8/5): Very good -
- Christophe (2/5): Very poor - Noisy, no window blind, no luggage storage, no TV, no hangers, no air-conditioning / heating, minimal equipment in the kitchen.
- Nadine (10/5): Nice, clean, tidy. Car park arrangement is a little confusing, though. - Hard to find, especially by car.
- Anonymous (1/5): Basic, had to manage on our own, no one wanted to help - The staff were horrible, especially one gentleman, he was a nightmare, I have sugar and my collegue has type 2 diabetes, we arrived and had to park in the Morrisons car park. We entered the building both me and my collegue needed the toilet, we asked for some toilet roll as there wasn’t any in the toilet, the gentleman didn’t seem interested, after asking the fourth time he Dixie’s to bring out the toilet roll, but wouldn’t give to us, he said it’s my job and il go and put it in the toilet. The gentleman then went for a walk, and returned a few minutes later, my collegue almost wet himself, I explained to the gentleman, my collegue is diabetic, we have come a long way, and we needed the rolls urgently, he apologised and said he didn’t realise, I explained I couldn’t mention any being infront of my collegue. The 2 African and the English lady were amazing, the careless gentleman wanted us to walk around the building, the English lady sorted out the fob after many attempts so that it would work on the back door. Then he than kept arguing with her and telling her it won’t work. There were no toiletries in the room, or any toilet roll in the main toilets near the reception as you enter
- Ian (7/5): Good - No food Reception welcome was chaotic.
- Babu (8/5): Very good -
- Alan (8/5): Very good -
- Brian (2/5): No hot water for 2 days & Reception TOLD ME to contact BOOKING.com instead of doing anything - Useless reception help. reception is often closed and there's only an email address to contact if you have a problem. And the email folks were useless, too. Give us your money, this property seems to say, and deal with any issues yourself. I had no hot water for 2 days. I wasn't even offered a discount. reception told me to call Booking.com if I wasn't happy.
- Olaogun (7/5): Good -
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- Eylul (5/5): Passable -
- Edwina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Keelan (8/5): Very good - Great staff and clean too!
- Cristina (6/5): Pleasant -
- Barny (10/5): fine -
- Aniket (6/5): Pleasant -
- Saniya (8/5): Very good -
- Kimberley (7/5): Basic budget accommodation with easy access to the city - Our 2nd stay - basic budget accommodation with use of kitchen, public transport to city/airport on the doorstep & supermarket with cafe next door. Would definitely use again :) The bed is a little small for two people if you want to stay more than 2 nights!
- Sawant (7/5): Good -
- Robert (3/5): Wish we hadn’t booked this place at all. - Close to the bus stop and Morrisons. Bed too small. Damp carpet. Shower door broken. Loo seat broken. Horrified at way Fire Evacuation was handled. Staff did not communicate and let most people stand inside reception!!! Fire brigade attended. Spoke to man on reception to say he should evacuate everyone to muster point. He said it was up to everyone what they did. No control of situation taken. Left feeling very nervous. Would never recommend. Safety not taken seriously is concerning.
- Suvigya (8/5): Very good -
- Konstantins (5/5): Fine - It was the cheapest place in august with a private bathroom with a clean, small room. There was a fire alarm at midnight that apparently is a regular thing that happens when someone turns on the heater and closes window.
- Vaz (9/5): Superb -
- Ian (8/5): Very good -
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional - accessibility just on key
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- 10 (4/5): Disappointing - It was a clean place, very accessible to the city since busses run every 10-15 mins We had 3 fire alarms at night during our stay
No staff or fire marshal at night. The guest were the one calling the fire brigade. Guest were calling the emergency number but no answer. The one who is incharge of the building was on holiday. Day staff doesn't know who to call about the fire marshal at night.
The place was very affordable and the place is not far to get to the city ,I was going to recommend this to my company if travelling here but sadly I won't because of this. We we're told that every week the fire alarm goes off at night for no reason and the fire brigade comes but no staff at night
- Bianca (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sam (7/5): It was basic but met our needs. And plenty of buses on a scenic route into city. - Nothing fancy but nice touch with toiletries Bed was more like a queen than a double so a bit small. Only one pillow each and only one curtain which barely covered the window.
- Erik (7/5): Good -
- Neha (8/5): Very good -
- Matthew (7/5): Good - Nice and clean. The staff were brilliant as well. Very friendly and helpful. A little too far outside the city.
- Ludwig (9/5): just brilliant - breakfast was fine, well prepared by ourselves. do not have any dislikes
- Guy (8/5): Very good - Great location for access to bus just outside and Morrisons over the road for breakfast No rubbish bin in the room one loo roll for two people.
- Huxg (7/5): Good -
- Federico (1/5): Bad - . Nobody of the staff showed up for the check-in at the College Residence and we had to find another location, at the very last minute, for the night.
Very bad experience
- Manjith (9/5): Good stay - One of the few rooms with ensuite at that price point. Private room with shared kitchen. Spacious and clean kitchen. Amenities like toiletries provided. I couldn't find a waste bin in my room. Ended up collecting in a paper bag and going to kitchen to dispose off.
- Joan (7/5): We found what we expected , staff were accommodating, nice to have access to the kitchen. - N/A
- Abi (6/5): Pleasant - Staff were very helpful and welcoming Very expensive for the facilities and location. That being said, I was expecting this, and wasn't falsely under an impression that I was paying for something I didn't get. Overall I was happy with the stay.
- James (1/5): Not good I booked for 2 night but only stayed the 1 - It was terrible all the doors banged through out the night toilet was broke sink was blocked. Windows didn’t open properly.
- Sandro (7/5): Good -
- David (9/5): Reasonably priced, clean and comfortable with outstanding staff. - Reasonably priced, clean and comfortable, quiet. The staff were outstanding - very friendly and helpful.
Note: I booked this quite a long time in advance, so I may have paid less than others who did not book in advance. Bit out of the way, and basic however that's reflected fairly in the price so I wouldn't say that I don't like it exactly, just not beneficial.
- Alisi (8/5): Clean and comfy rooms. - Was there for sports tournament. Didn’t really spend much time at the college apart from bed time. It was worth the price. Nil
- Jb1919 (9/5): Very good and youthful :) - Very nice and helpful staff, No parking available at the dorm, but parking is available at Morrisons nearby. Paying for nonUK citizens is not possible via mobile app. which is a pity.
- Liam (2/5): Cheapest accomm available during fringe. - On the main bus route Door to access the building would not open, luckily another person was coming in or we would have been locked out all night! Room was not clean, beds uncomfortable
