Guest Reviews
- Craig (10/5): -
- Rodney (5/5): Stay was ok for what we needed. - Breakfast was ok. lay out was good. Bed was comfortable. Easy to get to our destination of choice. In fairness was an only one night stay and didnt use a lot of appliances on offer. Felt the price of accommodation was high, as a cleaning charge was applied, and we were instructed to empty and dispose of rubbish and wash and dry put away dishes. The path way to our accommodation was not foot friendly and
more lighting needed.
- Klaus (9/5): Quiet vines. - Top of hill overlooking vines. Quiet. Well appointed if a little out of the way, explains modest pricing. Did not like check in. Wanted copy of id/ passport. You have to be very trusting!!!
- Gurbir (10/5): -
- Hannah (1/5): Do Not Stay !! - 0 do not stay here !!
I booked on booking.com and then they send me a text to my phone asking for a 300 dollar bond. This was not in the term and conditions. I was not given the check in informing in order to check I to the facility. They would not give me a refund. I was role that I wouldn’t receive the 300 back for 48 hours after departure. The women didn’t speak proper English. I think this property is being run from overseas . Terrible
- John (8/5): - Location was quiet. Lights on in front area, made it difficult to get to sleep.
- Gillies (8/5): Enjoyable, the room was really comfortable. It would have been nice to sit outside, but it wasn't v - There wasn't any breakfast supplied. Location was good. The lack of gardens, there was a lot of green garbage laying around
- Rhiannon (8/5): -
- Anne (10/5): -
- Emily (4/5): Would only recommend to someone needing a cheap place to stay. - I liked the location, that it was kind of tucked away, and that it was quiet. When I checked in everything was fine, water was running but after I unpacked and got settled in, I went to use the water, but nothing came out of any of the water faucets. I waited about 20-30 minutes and tried the water again but still no running water. When I contacted the property, they wanted a video of the problem, so I took a video and sent it to them. After about 30-45 minutes they told me that I could relocate to another room. So, I had to repack and move to a different room after a very long difficult day for me. Both rooms smelled a bit musky and old, there was no cleaning service, and I had to take out the trash to their bins down the road.
- Amanda (7/5): -
- Tim (5/5): Anyone would be mad to deal with this property. - No comment After we booked the stay we were asked to pay an extra $300 bond money before they would give us a key code. This was never disclosed before. We had paid the $152 rent already for the night. The bond money was taken from my account on 2nd March. It is now 6th March and we still don't have the bond money released.
- PamelaBu (2/5): - I liked the location, the splendid isolation. Everything else.
- Michael (9/5): - Being out in the bush.

- Territory (7/5): So much potential to be a Barrossa Accommodation Icon. - The serenity, location, price and views were great. Very clean with great free laundry facilities. The bad reviews of this place had us pleasantly surprised as we had no real issues. ( water pressure was great) On room entry the smell of stale smoke. The bed was hard with electric blanket wires felt uncomfortable through the sheet.
Pot plants and gardens mostly dead and neglected. This place has so much potential.
One major dislike was being sprung with a $300 bond from the managing company after we paid booking.com for 3 nights accommodation ( we got it back after a few days).
- kathleen (4/5): Needs caretaker on site . - Quiet location Dead mouse on carpet. Bitten by bugs inside the room. No DVD PLAYER however DVDs library was provided. Free laundry but empty laundry powder box. Poor to none TV SIGNAL. Tea and coffee glass cannisters located too high on shelving to access safely.
- James (10/5): James Feast - Everything was great Nothing
- Julie (9/5): Great place to stay in the country - Loved the peace and quiet, beautiful scenery, beautiful location, lovely restful place to stay
- Stan (6/5): ok - The location was good. Easy commute to shops etc.. Bed was comfy. The washing machine and dryer appeared to be free. Did not need to use them. Although we only had a dryer by ours. The internet was ok the first night I do not like the idea that you had to pay a $300 deposit before you can access the keys. You cannot cancel the booking once you find out as you forfeit your money you paid upfront for the accommodation. This is not mentioned in the description of the property on Booking.com. I believe it should be. The deposit was only retuned close on 10days.
[hold removed] The property was not cleaned well. The bath tap ran at the same time as the shower. The bath plug had to be pulled out with a knife. The kitchen plug was dirty. The internet was terrible after a storm. The plug appeared to be faulty and or needed to be reset. I prefer accommodation with someone on site.
- Peter (5/5): Good sized room but tired property - Good sized room Very tired property with dead plants all along the verandah and things outside in poorish condition
- bullivant (5/5): Excellent for a couples retreat - The serenity, the fireplace during the cold nights The spa was broken, we very much were excited but turned disappointed when the spa jets didn't work and short out the complex
- Donna (10/5): Loved the Location an tranquil , 10 mins away from town - We felt very at home, absolutely loved the location, the exposed brick , loved the spa room.
We will be coming back soon, talking about next visit already. The only thing, I'm pretty sure the aircond filters Need a clean, as I don't think the heaters were working as well as should.
- Dylan (10/5): - Between the beautiful views among the vineyards and the comfy lodge accommodation it was the perfect romantic getaway for a couple. The included fireplace was a selling point (best to bring own firewood supply)
- Darren (7/5): Great place to stay and spa was excellent - A great location that shows natures beauty and great scenery and sunsets Liked everything honestly, but maybe some butter to cook their supplied pancake mix in and a bit more jam or syrup to put on them
- Elissa (8/5): Relaxing and fun. -
- Robert (7/5): Not good value for money. - Location Small tv. Needs king size bed. Only green tea. No normal tea.
- Michael (9/5): -
- Rheian (10/5): - Perfect and peaceful...
Friendly staff who were extremely helpful 🙂
- Mary (3/5): Disappointed, overpriced . - Great location Very tired and run down. Gardens unkept, no bedside table or reading lamps, no champagne glasses
- Moore (1/5): Horrible - Nothing Where do I start! DO NOT STAY HERE! First of all on arrival to our apartment we had a drug user with her partner sitting out the front of our apartment with all of their belongings piled up. The women was giving the cleaner grief and being extremely rude, there is no way anyone should be putting up with that. For whatever reason the owner decided to move the addicts down two apartments which isn't even 10 metres from our apartment. We decided to book the caravan park down the road (discovery stay their instead! They were lovely and gave us a slight discount after explaining our situation) for two night due to feeling unsafe and not being aware of what would develop from the situation, we tried to get a refund/partial refund for the two nights not being able to stay due to safety reason's explaining the situation which they completely rejected and ignored, so unprofessional SUCH poor service. The couple was high as kites and we're removed by police the next morning because she refused to leave (what we were afraid of), finding out this women was put up there by domestic abuse sector. Who was paying for her stay and who was ment to be there on her own. Apparently we found out this wasn't the first time this had happened with this same women and there had been a prior similar situation. We also found out they do let alot of homeless/struggling stay at this place which is find but for the price you pay maybe it should be turned into an actual facility because it was not a relaxing get away or anything we expected. The place is extremely run down the aircon didn't even work we had to clean the filter, there was hardly any water coming out of the shower so old and it has a terrible vibe that just feels completely off. Without the issues with the drug users. Please stay away from this place. You can tell this is just a place just a cash grab and the owners really do not caring about anything else.
- Gregg (5/5): Nice place but don't expect any service of any kind from the management and be prepared for the bond - The location was nice and quiet with a good view over the vineyards and hills.
The room was neat, tidy and clean. - It was only after the booking was made and paid for that I got asked for ANOTHER $300 bond before I could get the code for the key. Several other guests complained about the same thing. This should be advised up front before the booking is paid for, not sprung on the guest afterwards.
- The shower head was blocked, it took TWO DAYS for someone to come to fix it.
The person that came was the manager and he clearly had no idea how to fix it, he thought bashing it with an adjustable spanner might do it, he then took the shower head off and said he was going to get another one and would be back in an hour. FIVE HOURS AND SEVERAL MESSAGES THROUGH BOOKING.COM LATER, he returned to fit the new shower head.
- There was not enough toilet paper for the length of our stay, we had to buy more from the shop as we asked the cleaner on Saturday for more but she advised that the manager wouldn't be bringing some more until Monday.
- The wine lockers were not fully stocked. When I asked another guest if they had a particular wine in their locker and they did, I went to buy it. I put in my credit card details, payment went through but the locker didnt open for me to get the bottle.
I AM STILL WAITING FOR A REFUND.
- The BBQ was locked with a chain so it couldn't be used WHAAAT!!!!
- Malcolm (4/5): OK for a for a cheap one night stay, any longer and I'd look for something better. - Good location close to Tanunda and several nice wineries Maybe have live trees in the planter boxes at the entrance to the rooms instead of dead ones. The barbecues are unusable. The check in process was unnecessarily onerous.
The toilet bowl leaked which was dangerous as my wife slipped in the puddle and nearly fell, I can't imagine it was very hygienic either.
- Michael (9/5): -
- Gail (7/5): - Great view across the vineyard. Only a few wine glasses for 6 people and no frying pan to cook breakfast.
- Ralf (6/5): - Seeehr viele Fliegen in den Innenräumen, eklig!
Der Grill muss wieder einmal überholt und repariert werden.
Gas war verhanden
- Neil (9/5): Great short stay. Excellent location. -
- Sharp (5/5): - There is a lack of transparency about the bond requirements. You only find out about the $300 bond this at check-in.
- LIN-HSIN (9/5): Very good experience for the stay in general. - The lodge is spacious. The check in and check out process is very approachable and easy. The window keys were not seen in the property.
- Geoff (8/5): - Kitchen was good, bathroom was good , lovely location with great views. It was advertised as a 1 bedroom apartment it was actually a studio with the bed about 1 metre above the living area and you could sit at dining table and look at the bed so no actual bedroom at all.
- Debra (8/5): - Peaceful location Mattress was a little hard
- Vicki (5/5): -
- Mark (8/5): - The peace and quite The showers need some work hot water tool 10 plus minutes .
Other than that, ellcent plus to stay
- Nick (6/5): Rooms are older and but tired. Breakfast supplied is pancake mix and cereal. No wood supplied for fireplace. Surrounded -
- Emma (6/5): Pretty average - not good value - Quiet location No tea (only green tea)
Only instant coffee
The mattress was very thin and not very comfortable
We wanted one hour earlier to check in and we’re not accommodated - meaning we had to check in in the dark
- James (8/5): Great spot conveniently located just out of Tanunda. Access was easy and privacy was great. - We loved the ease of access. We didn't arrive until 11pm at night but the instructions to access the room were clear and simple. The room was large and tidy. Some might say the property was dated but we thought it was homely. The bed wasn't super comfortable.
- Sharon (3/5): Amazing location , poorly maintained outdated facility - Location Garden dead in places, full of weeds
Very dated facility , not disabled friendly , bugs everywhere . Staff online impossible to contact . No basics not even Tea ( homebrand green tea looking very out of date )
Very overpriced for what was offered .
- K (9/5): Perfect place to get some work done, or just read great books in peace. - Great location, great space to stay in.
- Jon (8/5): - Great location Needs an extractor fan to stop smoke alarm going off when using the hot plate
- Victor (9/5): -
- Holly (8/5): - Beautiful location
Great spa, comfy bed
- David (8/5): - Wifi dropped out
- Vanessa (5/5): - No firewood
No sanitary bags
Place smelt stale and dusty
Shower tap broken
Outside area needs cleaning and weeding
Outside lights not connected
- Harry (8/5): Fabulous - Property was beautiful, everything was great Shower pressure wasn’t the best.
- Ian (7/5): Perfect for our budget. Will stay again. - Location was beautiful. Facilities all worked well. Nice and quiet. Garden area could do with some maintenance, or even a makeover. Perhaps when the big dead gum tree gets removed!
- Susan (8/5): -
- Richard (7/5): -
- Elisabeth (5/5): happy family holiday if not expecting a manicured garden outside. great country weekend escape - the house for one family of 5 and the queen bed unit for a couple were good.
the location was country but close to town for provisions by road 10 minutes. location was easy to get to farmers market, Maggie Beer's and Adventure playground. And wineries, of course.
House facilities catered well when we all (adults and children = 11) ate dinner and breakfasts there, played card games etc. good Fridge, freezer, dishwasher.
kids could ride a small bike around on driveways, rope-swing and kick a ball on the flat front lawn. music supply was enjoyed.
BBQ was sufficient for needs but not sheltered from the winds. [it was windy most of our stay] the Lodge for a couple with 2 young children didn't work for getting to sleep much. the mezzanine open plan for 3 adults would work but it doesn't really sleep 4 as stated as it is a foldout couch.
there needs to be a yard working bee outside to clean up the old BBQs, dead branches, bits of plastic hose, old wire and metal pots with dead plants on the unit's verandah could be removed. Water is at a premium so I would not replace them. similar the other terracotta pots around the grounds I would just remove all together. Also, the fairy lights and the solar power panels connected to them could be removed as they don't work around the accommodation and down the driveway.
The yellow bins were left on the side of the road and were not sorted - some education needed here for those that are new to the idea of recycling.
- Diane (8/5): - Very quiet and peaceful location.
- Dominic Scali (7/5): Great location, but... - Beautiful location, nice to have a fireplace in winter. No host onsite. Grounds are not maintained with broken or abandoned items of outdoor furniture and BBQs scattered around. Unit has a spa bath but spa jets don't work (they did work last time we stayed here). Some interior lights didn't work. Checkin onerous.
- JAGDEEP (10/5): - We booked 1 unit for 2 nights without reading any reviews. Later on got concerned when we read some negative reviews but our experience was amazing with all check in instructions provided. Property is located in a winery with amazing hill views and surroundings. Jacob's creek and other wineries are very close by. Room was clean and bed was comfortable with all towels and toiletries provided. Small kitchenette with Induction plate, microwave, tea coffee, milk, cutlery, oil, salt, pepper and dishwashing stuff provided. To our surprise, crackers and 2 small packets of chips were also provided. We had an issue buying their wines from the wine locker provided in the room. Paid for it but the locker didn't open. Lucky had my own wine with me to enjoy. Refund is being organised. 1 BBQ was clean and in working condition but need to book in advance. Certainly recommend this place to anyone. Will certainly come back again with family and friends.
- Nathasha (8/5): Charming Vineyard Retreat in Barossa Valley - We had a wonderful stay at the lodge! The location surrounded by vineyards was absolutely stunning — peaceful, scenic, and perfect for a relaxing getaway. The lodge was cozy, well-maintained, and had all the comforts we needed. A truly memorable experience, and we’d love to come back again! There were occasional smells from the septic tank, but it didn’t significantly affect our overall experience.
- Judy-Anne (9/5): Good location, very quiet with 5 min drive to wineries and Tanunda. Lovely stay and would book again -
- Effie (7/5): Good. - Didn't have breakfast The mattress wasnt very comfortable and the bathroom fan wasn't strong enough to clear the steam
- Priscilla (1/5): -
- Leslie (10/5): - Lovely surroundings
- Jordan (10/5): -
- Christine (10/5): -
- Jenny (7/5): - Liked the quietness. Shower in en suite was terrible. Couldn't adjust it. It was like standing under a garden hose without a nozzle
- Shreela (3/5): Good but bot great. Can do better with bit flexibility. - Good view. Great location. There wasn’t quilt in a room. The check-out flexibility was not given. I technically paid $400 to stay here for 12 hours.
- John (8/5): -
- Teakman (9/5): - The staff who helped us with the booking The views from the hill
- Jo (8/5): Beautiful location quite relaxing friendly staff onsite - Quiet location close to town beautiful views
Clean inside accommodation Outside broken bbqs bit of rubbish broken equipment around grounds
Paying $300 deposit not disclosed until you had paid non refundable room rate
- Leidy Johana (10/5): -
- Glenys (8/5): Great, quiet location. Appreciated having a washing machine and dryer. - Quiet location Shower head in ensuite was not adjustable and came out as a single, powerful jet of water.
- Janine (5/5): Would not recommend to others. - The location The carpet was very dirty. The heater wasn’t very effective, shower pressure was poor. There was no chopping board or bread knife. Facilities badly need an upgrade.
- Michael (9/5): I really enjoyed the stay there just came up to go wine tasting at Rockfords so excellent location - Lovely unit in a great location so beautiful and quiet Nothing
- Rayson (1/5): This has put us off of returning to the Barossa. Worst night ever. - Bed was ok We had no hot water, no water pressure, no power to cook breakfast, no fire wood. There was no one to contact at the facility. Outside there was a smell of raw sewage and old furniture lying around. We couldn’t boil water for a coffee. We booked the spa room. This also didn’t work due to no power.
This has was the worst facility we have stayed in.
I contacted the company to ask for a manager to ring me. Nothing heard. I want a refund and compensation for the loss of our breakfast that I couldn’t cook.
This is my honest review.
- Prabhath (10/5): Exceptional location and place - Great location
- Mark (7/5): Good -
- Nicholas (5/5): Passable -
- Tracy (5/5): Beautiful location however expected better quality for the price. - Beautiful location overlooking vines. Shower pressure was terrible- only a single stream of luke warm water. Carpets were stained. Kitchen appliances aged. Patio doors difficult to open due to weathering.
- Alistair (7/5): Enjoyed the outlook, the tranquility & the location - Breakfast was not included
Facilities provided were good The lounge area carpet needed cleaning
The shower heads need upgrading to allow improved water flow
The back patio to the clothes line needed a clean
- Heather (10/5): I had a very relaxing and peaceful few days. - Absolutely relaxing and away from the main areas of the Barossa.
- Paula (10/5): A lovely alternative to staying in Tanunda. - Lovely quiet location amongst the gum trees. Good communication re entry code once the $300 bond was paid. Nice older style but perfectly functional unit on a nice property. Nothing.
- Ross (7/5): Good - Booking process is the worst I have ever encountered. Sending mages of my license, paying deposit, waiting for emails etc. Too much trouble . Wont return- too hard to book.
- Williams (7/5): Good - Cozy place .nice aspect . Advertised with wood fire but apparently you have to supply your own fire wood .
- Matt (1/5): Bad -
- Gai (7/5): Good - Quiet location, meet our needs An extra Bond was paid before we could obtain our code to access the key. I cannot remember this being on the booking. Waiting for the Bond to be refunded.
- Kylie (8/5): Very good - Place was so peaceful and relaxing Room is a bit dark.
- Miranda (4/5): Disappointing -
- Barbara (1/5): Bad - On arrival there was absolutely no-one around. When we rang we were told we had to do an online check-in which we were not happy with. The security bond was excessive and it took quite a while before the person on the other end of the phone would reduce it to a reasonable amount. When we finally got inside we found the bedding wasn't fresh (stale smell to the doona). We hope we don't get another booking like this one.
- Donnelly (7/5): Good - Great accommodation
Beautiful view from property Very hard to navigate check in if you aren't computer savvy
- Rachel (1/5): One of the most disappointing holiday experiences of my life. - The views from the property would have been fantastic had there been any chairs that weren't falling apart to sit on. This was the filthiest accommodation I have ever set foot in in my life. The basin was full of someone's hair shavings, the toilet had not been cleaned, nor had any of the bathroom. All kitchen appliances were splatted with filth, as was the splash back. This place clearly hasn't been cleaned properly in a long time.
All the outdoor furniture was falling apart and not safe to sit on. While they advertise being 'self contained' that is untrue due to the BBQ being chained shut and was the only form of cooking apart from the dirty microwave. I had to clean the laundry and put the washing machine on drum clean before being able to use those facilities. I would NEVER wish this level of filth on anyone. Had we not been exhausted from travel and had already paid we would have left. We got cleaning gloves and product and cleaned the place before using anything.
Such a shame to see a property that previously had such a great reputation left to rack and ruin!
- Christopher (5/5): Passable - Great location and view. Classic 70's/80's architecture and quality construction. Nice kitchen update.Good value for money. Filthy stained carpet. Low flow in shower. Grounds run down and neglected.
- Mike (8/5): Very good -
- Jayne (8/5): Clean and cleaner very friendly but in need of a lot tlc in the garden. Irrigation needs to be addressed if this lovely - The out of town location attracted us. The garden and surrounds was left to die. In fact the orchard was a source of sorrow for my husband who felt the need to water fruit trees under stress and pick frilly that was draining them. Dead old gum trees completed the story, very sad.
- Penelope (7/5): Good - I left the property five days ago and my security deposit is still being held by the host. This seems like a long time.
