• Clifford (10/5): Functional and cheap.. great place to lay your head. - The location for me was perfect. I needed a place to rest my head for the night. Nothing more... so I didn't want to pay Premier Inn prices. What a great find this was. I was impressed by it's functionality. My room had a little ensuite, a fridge, microwave, kitchen sink, washing machine, sofa, double bed, a table and chair and a TV. It was clean and tidy... with white linen and nice soft towels. The shower was excellent. If you want a functional place to stay for a good price, you can't go wrong with this. They're renovating the place at the moment so the outside is not the best, but I wasn't there to stand and gawp at the outside!

• Nessa (8/5): Good base to explore Dumfries and Galloway - This hotel is self-catering, so you get a room with ensuite facilities and a fridge, mini oven, kettle, microwave and the basics to eat and drink with. Coffee and tea are provided, but you might like to bring your own. Each room is slightly different, depending on your requirements. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations, so it is not yet at its best, but it is good enough. It can be a bit noisy when the work is being done, but it is quiet in the evening. Views from the window are a bit limited, but I would say it is typical of a market town. The Townhouse is almost opposite the Aldi supermarket, so you can get what you need conveniently, and a 10-minute walk to the local chippy, Indian takeaway and grocery shops. It is quite a distance to walk into Dumfries town centre, so a car is recommended, but there is also a bus stop (No. 79 bus) outside the property to get to or from the town if the walk is a bit too far. My room was clean, and towels and bedding were changed regularly. There is a wardrobe to hang clothing in. Very good shower. The owner, Peter, was very accommodating when I needed to extend my stay due to personal circumstances, and I was able to add an extra two days in the same room, no trouble at all. No criticism, really. I knew in advance about the renovations, and it was no trouble at all, as I was out during the day.

There is a parking space in the area. The owner Petr, was nice and helpful, but the same cannot be said about the accommodation. The "room" measuring 2×2 meters (the length of the bed) in a temporary construction cell for craftsmen is quite a desperate accommodation for 40 pounds per night. I would accept that for half of this price. For 40 pounds, I have already been accommodated in much better quality. The equipment is basic, there is a TV, toilet and bathroom, MW, basic dishes, kettle, trash can, fridge. One night at most, I felt like a craftsman that Petr has on the construction site of the main building. It is quite messy, and overnight my car was covered in dust from cement or lime. But Petr apologized for this in advance. Of course, I had no idea what kind of accommodation awaited me. Thanks, Petr, next time I will be more careful in choosing accommodation for 40 pounds.

Peter sorted me out with a larger room more suitable for my longer stay. Basic essentials provided. Having a kitchenette in the room was super useful. The WC with toilet, basin and shower gave ample room. Towels and a TV provided. The beds have their own reading lights and power sockets beside them. Everything was nice and clean. It was handy having Aldi right across the road and the accommodation being on a bus route into town. I had a comfortable stay. I could have done with a pair of oven gloves for getting cooked stuff out of the microwave. I chose not to use the air fryer.

• Keith (10/5): Perfect for what k needed on my motorcycle tour. - Well located for a walk into town and riverside walks. Aldi just across the road was useful. Room was very clean and shower was good. Safe place to park my motorcycle was appreciated. Peter the host, was very friendly on checkin. He clearly has great plans in further developing this guesthouse.

• John (10/5): Affordable - Was building works getting done upgrades and the likes..but didn't spoil our weekend @ for sure .was made aware of this before hand..wee were out most of the time pool competition..aldi and places to eat across the road superb location for my group .

• Batchelor (10/5): Very comfortable - Breakfast was not provided but everything was on hand to prepare and the supermarket is just across the road. I was upgraded which was a special blessing
• Neil (5/5): The whole place is a work in progress. perhaps I will return when it is complete - Location was good for me. Fantastic array of power and usb sockets to choose from in the small space. Cleanliness needs improving. The floor was dirty, I tracked dirt into the shower with my bare feet.

I also had the chance to meet Peter, nice and friendly guy. I will repeat for sure. Nothing, it’s good as it is.

• Katrina (7/5): Good - Everything I needed for a short stay. Clean comfortable and friendly at a reasonable price. The traffic noise going past the window was a little loud, but it didn't put me off from rebooking.
• Ian (9/5): Superb - My room was compact with a shower room. It had everything one needed and even had a small fridge which was ideal for keeping my drinks and food cool. The bed was very comfy resulting in me having a very good night's sleep. The room was clean and tidy. I have no complaints about my stay. "It did what it said on the tin". It was exactly what I needed for my kind of stay. Great value for money. I am a very satisfied customer. Thank you. No complaints.
