• Scott (1/5): Adelaide is wonderful but your experience will be marred terribly if you book at this AWFUL place - Nothing whatsoever. DO NOT STAY HERE. Everything. DO NOT STAY HERE. Owner is extremely rude, uncooperative & extremely unhelpful. Every single request met with a "NO", "NO" & "NO". Do yourself and your family/ partner & go somewhere that will treat you like the customer/ paying guest you are. Terrible experience. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY at this AWFUL accommodation - you WILL regret.

• William (9/5): One for aficionados of peace and order! - The guesthouse is well run and spotlessly clean, and Ben is a helpful and approachable host - he can sometimes come across as a little abrupt, but so can most of us if using a second language! The location is remarkably quiet despite being close to a major road, and the centre of Adelaide is easily accessible by bus or train. Peaceful Haven Guest House is not stockstandard vanilla budget accommodation - it's an exception, whatever else it is! You would struggle to find its combination of quality, cleanliness, accessibility and (yes!) peacefulness at anything like its price. The quid pro quo, though, is that you are expected to abide by specific rules to keep the peace - rules which were fine by me, but which some might find restrictive. I shall attempt to upload a photo of these rules as displayed in my room, as knowing these in advance might help you decide whether this is the right place for you to stay. Me, I'd be more than happy to stay here again if my travels bring me back to Adelaide in the future. There was nothing I didn't like personally, though, as I said, others might chafe at the rules and regulations. (I do suspect this partly accounts for the wide disparities in the ratings and reviews for PHGH on this site - you will like it very much indeed, or not very much at all!)
• David (7/5): Affordable located between city & beaches. Quiet. - It was very clean. Rooms are large. Cool from central air conditioning. 2 different bathroom & toilets. It's actually a good set up if you want near hostel prices but have the privacy of yr own room. It's 1 of the cheapest places in Adelaide during festival season that isn't shared bedroom accommodation. It's well located between the beach & the city- if yr going to beaches like Glenelg or further south to Seaford. The bakery across the road is exceptional. Sidewalk cafe nearby in Edwardstown plaza is very good. Work out bus stops (4 mins walk) & train stations (10 mins walk) nearby to get to the city from accommodation. *Was not expensive to get an uber to the airport- $16- 11 minutes travel time. Bus was an hour because it goes into the city first. *But off peak (9-3pm) bus (2 hour usage allowed) airport to the city is only $2.60. Paid between $11 & $18 for Ubers to get into the city for shows or home at midnight or 3am. Checkout all day metro pass & 14 day passes. No clicking off when getting off all public transport. Work out how to buy tickets on the metro app & activate them. It's the easiest system in Australia once you understand how it works. The accommodation owner is on site all the time and retired. *Their presence is quite obvious - definitely not a party house. If coming in summer- you need a hat & sunglasses- the quality of the light is quite striking. If coming in Dec Jan you might need a solar umbrella if you are not from Adelaide- it can be that hot & dry- be warned. Mattress was hard & I haven't slept on polycotton since 1983- after a few days I didn't notice. Rooms require a lamp- nobody does overhead lighting anymore. The deposit on arrival should be more prominent in the rate section - I didn't notice it when booking- as did another couple who mentioned it. The location is not ideal because it can take 30-40 minutes one way to get into town- however I only paid $16 for an Uber to get to the airport at 8am in the morning which was *very convenient*. Accommodation during Festival season (Feb March) in Adelaide seems a little expensive- this is on the cheaper side without being horrible. Affordable if you have the time to travel to & from.

Ben, einfach ein Mensch, der sein Mögliches tut als Gastgeber. super Bäckerei mit gutem Coffee nur paar Schritte entfernt. recht gute Öffentliche Verkehr relativ nahe. gut gibt es noch bezahlbare Unterkünfte wie diese. leider keine Nachtischlampe. nur eine Deckenbeleuchtung. lieber kein Teppich. generell kann man sagen. altes Zeug raus und auffrischen! statt schwere Gardinen und drei verschiedene.( zwei zuerst bis man zu einem schwierig zu bedienenden Rolo kommt.)

• Johanna (5/5): Séjour stressant et oppressant. - L’emplacement et la propreté. Le propriétaire qui est toujours en train de nous surveiller, de contrôler ce que l’on fait. C’est oppressant. Beaucoup trop de règles strictes et pas nécessaires. Des affiches avec des horaires et des instructions partout dans la maison. Des interdictions comme si nous étions des enfants. Par exemple interdiction d’aller ici ou la bas, fermer les portes, ne pas utiliser certaines plaques de cuisson, ne pas faire une machine à laver seul et j’en passe. Chaque fait et geste est surveillé. Et une caution demandée par virement avec insistance la veille de notre arrivée. Or il est indiqué dans l’annonce que 100$ de caution seront demandés à l’arrivé en espèce.

Le propriétaire qui vivait aussi dans la maison nous a demandé une caution en liquide à l’arrivée alors que ce n’était pas précisé… Il était derrière nous constamment à nous surveiller ce qui n’était pas très agréable… Le jardin était vraiment en bazars. Ceci dit bien que les lits étaient très durs l’établissement était propre.

• Nicholas (9/5): Great price, great value, a little odd, but worth it. - Extremely good value for what you get. Basically the same price as a hostel, but with a private room (and not as chaotic). Great location (I needed to travel between Flinders Uni and Adelaide CBD). You're effectively in a shared house with lockable rooms. The owner had specific requirement, like sandals indoors, and was a quirky guy, but it didn't affect my stay at all.

We didn’t expect that the owner will sleep inside the house and it was not comfortable at all as the owner watching you 24/7. He’s sleeping in his SWAG/TENT inside his garage. I wasn’t able to cook from 8AM-11PM? We have kids that wakeup early! Same as washing clothes! You have to pay to the owner after 4PM if you want to wash clothes! It’s SCAMMM!! The house is smelly and there’s a cockroach and spiders in the bedroom! My booking was 3nights and we only stay one night and have to leave the next day! We didn’t care about the refund anymore. What a terrible experience. First time with booking.com like this.

• Max (6/5): Unique. - It was very clean and quiet. Decent location, plenty of buses running in and out of the city until late. There’s no actual advertising of this place, it’s just some guys house. The Chinese guy who owns it was a little wierd; he is keeping an eye on you at all times. Attracts some questionable customers. It’s like 50/50 between a hotel and hostel.

• Luisa (1/5): Desagradable, incómoda y grosera - La verdad no hay nada que se pueda destacar de la casa y muchísimo menos del servicio del host súper súper desagradable y muy grosero La casa muy vieja y dejada, la habitación solo tenía una blanket, el baño estaba súper sucio la ducha tenía tantos hongos que las paredes estaban rosadas, las puertas tenía moho café, sencillamente desagradable, el tapete que estaba en nuestra habitación tenía cabellos de otras personas, la cocina súper sucia no fuimos capaces de usarla por qué todo estaba grasoso y sucio todo el tiempo. Además de eso, el servicio al cliente terrible, hospitalidad no había, la persona encargada de la casa es una persona muy grosera, no sabe dirigirse de manera amable a nadie y es muy escandaloso, infortunadamente cuando íbamos a hacer el check out, golpeó de una manera muy fuerte e invasiva en nuestra habitación y nos gritó “el check out era a las 10” lo cual fue súper grosero por qué no hubo un saludo no hubo amabilidad nos sentimos completamente hechadas de la propiedad como si no hubiéramos pagado. Cuando salimos no sabíamos si dejar la llave en la habitación o entregarla al host, pero cuando íbamos a irnos no queríamos tener ninguna clase de contacto con el host nuevamente por lo grosero que había sido, así que mi amiga cuando estaba dejando la habitación le dijo que ya nos íbamos y que las llaves estaban en la habitación a lo que él respondió “ya las iba a reportar por qué siguen aquí?” LA PEOR EXPERIENCIA, si tienen la oportunidad de quedarse en esta casa, desaprovéchenla completamente, terrible experiencia, cero recomendado

It’s spacious and very clea - Very close to train station and a short walk to local bakery and other shops. The bed mattresses were very firm. One was slightly softer than the other one but both my husband and I took turns in the bed that felt like a door. We like a firm mattress, but these were next level.

I tried to talk to the owner about all these problems, but he never gave me a solution. You can’t use the oven; if you want to cook, you have to use a microwave or an air fryer. Cockroaches in the kitchen. I don’t recommend it.

Sometimes people need to visit the city for reasons other than the footie, so thank you Ben. It's a shame the windows could not be left open to allow some fresh air through the house.
• Cazzolato (7/5): Gather round stay - It was very clean & secure. Location was great as an easy tram ride into the city. It was value for money. We had an initial problem with the booking but Ben sorted it out by giving us his room. Our friends room had a skylight which made it hard to sleep past dawn & one of the beds was very hard which made for an uncomfortable night.
• Pia (7/5): Homey, comfortable, with a responsive property manager - It's 10minutes away from a tram stop. Ben was helpful and responsive. The internet was fast. Bed was comfortable in room 4. Anyway, if your are booking it thinking that this is a hotel, it is not. It is a residential property with multiple rooms for booking. There are 3 toilets and 2 bathrooms to share. Pretty quiet, and its peaceful actually. Room 4 door was locked with padlock inside and outside the door. It was a glass door with blue and red tapes to cover it. Look at photos. It was the most affordable during the Gather Round. We got what we expected. It was ok if you're simple and genuinely just needing a bed to sleep. No aircondition control in the room but there was a fan. During our stay, one bathroom shower's hot water wasn't working. It is a residential room. Don't expect anything fancy. Bring your own toiletries.

• Nicole (10/5): Awesome peaceful stay! - Everything was perfect! Beautiful clean and organized house with fully equipped kitchen, really clean and good bathrooms, hot shower. Towels provided, laundry for free. The house is close to a bus and tram stops and supermarkets are 30min on foot. Ben is a very nice and helpful person! I totally recommend it!! I have nothing to complain about.
