Guest Reviews
- Glauco (8/5): - 2 cozinhas, tudo funcionando. Ótimo lugar Colchão poderia ser melhor
- שמואל מאיר (1/5): Bad - The only thing is good is the location. The attitude of the hosts was very bad, I checked out early and left the room and when I returned from a trip they took money from me for a full night's stay. I do not recommend.
- Abbey (7/5): Good - Friendly staff. Perfect location - close to the town and all the trailheads. Small showers and kitchen but had everything you needed. Dorms are close to the common area so it can be loud
- Rory (2/5): Budget hostel… yikes - To be honest, for El Chalten this is one of the cheapest hostels so value for money as a backpacker was pretty okay, decent location for all the hiking trails as well!
In saying that this is definitely a budget option, this is probably the worst hostel I’ve stayed in and I’ve been travelling in South America for 4 months. It’s very dirty all over, bathrooms and kitchen was horrific. I’m surprised we didn’t get sick staying in the hostel.
This hostel could improve majorly with a few small things like; all new kitchen utensils, new plates, renovate the showers and bathrooms etc.
Staff wise the cleaner was lovely but the actual hostel ‘managers’ were not that welcoming at all and unhelpful.
The hostel was fully booked most nights we were there even in low season (as it’s one of the cheapest options).
- Nathaniel (5/5): Passable -
- Nadezhda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lucia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Johannes (4/5): Disappointing - Location is good and close enough to the hikes. the staff is very nitpicky about using facilities before and after checkin and checkout. There are definitely better places. Look at wenuy hostel I stayed there and it felt way better and like a home
- Katrina (9/5): Great location and a clean bed to rest in after long hiking days! - Fantastic location close to the main street and Laguna Torre trailhead. Beds were made everyday! Layout of the hostel was a little cramped but manageable for a few days
- Luca (8/5): Very good -
- Madlen (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely small place, close to the hikes and supermarket closeby. At a rainy day I missed a bit more comftable lounge areas.
- Charles (10/5): My favourite hostel. - This is my favourite hostel. All the staff are incredibly kind, friendly and helpful and there is always such a brilliant atmosphere in the communal areas.
- Wing (8/5): Very good - The staff was friendly and helpful. There's a storage room for your bags if you want to check out early to go hiking, then you can pick it up at the end of the hike and leave town. I was able to exchange some dollars into local cash. It felt somewhat tight for space because there were the hostel guests and long-term staying hotel staff.
- Laird (5/5): Passable -
- Jorijn (5/5): Unfriendly staff - It's nice that there are two kitchens and everything was reasonably clean. Very unfriendly welcome by the staff, they clearly didn't appreciate us arriving before check-in time. We went out and came back around 13:00, but still weren't allowed to eat lunch inside, very odd way of treating guests... Also the beds were not great, the rooms were very warm in the night and there was only one toilet per gender. Wouldn't recommend staying here even if it's one of the cheapest options.
- Lubos (6/5): Pleasant - Nice quite location close to tracking routes. Too loudy in the evenings. Very basic showers without hand hub.
- Eliza (7/5): Good -
- Evgenii (8/5): Very good -
- Harry (6/5): Pleasant - Good location, friendly staff and good location
- Roberto (10/5): I would recommend for anyone coming to El Chalten. - Very accommodating and pleasant, enjoyed my overnight stay. Nothing, everything was good.
- Michelle (6/5): Little space, but great location - Good location, close to everything Rooms were very small. Kitchen are is super cramped. Bathrooms are weirdly located
- Yonatan (7/5): Very good option for 1-2 nights - Value of price. Good stuff. Little space
- Marta (8/5): Very good -
- Patrik (5/5): Passable - Friendly staff and good location. Beds are in really bad shape, mattresses are way over their lifetime and uncomfortable and my sheets were like 100% polyester. I felt like sleeping in a plastic bag.. They need a bit more kitchenware a definitely do something about flies to meet some hygienic and food safety standards.
- Lara (7/5): Good hostel as a hiking starting point. - Very nice position. Good enough WiFi. Good hot shower. Generally pretty dirty. Bed sheets so thin they’re almost not there, found an insect inside.
Zero flexibility about an early check-in or checkout even if it was pouring raining and hostel common room was almost empty.
- Dan.nikonov (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect. Especially staff. They were cute and friendly.
- Birgit.vh (10/5): Exceptional - Really nice hostel, good shared spaces, even a double kitchen. They make the bed every day. Private parking lot in the back
- Adam (8/5): Very good -
- Jo (7/5): Not All Was Well at Almas - The hostel is very clean and comfortable, including the bunkbed. There is a fridge/freezer for guests to use, and a kitchen to cook food. It's in a quiet part of town, and not far from the start of the hikes. The staff are friendly and helpful. The kitchen can be a bit cramped if lots of people are trying to prepare food at the same time. There's not much space to put your things in the dormitory if you need to hang towels or clothes. My bag of food went missing from my bed while I was out hiking, with expensive chocolate and sweets in it. The managers apologised and gave me some items in compensation, but they were not to the same value, and there was no explanation as to why the bag was taken (the bed had been made, so I presume that it was the cleaner who took it).
- Ruth (7/5): Good - Location was super convenient, essentially in the middle of everything but off the main road The room was too hot. It lead to me and my husband getting a worsening cold
- Nicola (8/5): Very good -
- Seungtag (1/5): Robbery - My cash and credit card got stolen The locker is so weak that my all money and credit card got stolen. And CCTV is not very specific that it doesnt help to find who stole actually.
- Francesca (6/5): Pleasant stay here, the nice staff made up for the dirty floors and creaky beds, I would come back - The staff were really friendly and helpful. The kitchens are small but well equipped. The bunk beds were a bit wobbly, if you are on the top bunk you do not feel safe. The floor in the bedrooms were dirty. The communal space to sit down could be bigger.
- Alexander (8/5): Very good -
- Olivier (6/5): Pleasant -
