Guest Reviews
- Rachel (10/5): A wonderful dog-friendly stay. - Lovely condition - lots of love has been put into the barn conversion Nothing
- Beardsley (9/5): Excellent accomodation with outstanding views. -
- Colin (9/5): All ok so happy - Very convenient to where we wanted to go.
Had off road parking.
Very clean.
Nice touch with the milk and eggs Nothing to dislike. We only stayed for a night.
Definitely would return
- Dave (8/5): Nice overnight stay for Dartmoor walks - Loved the barn, clean and comfortable. Beautiful views. Great for an overnight stay for our Dartmoor walks There was no wifi. This was manageable for 1 nights stay, but any longer could prove an issue. Sadly no toiletries which was a bit of a surprise as would have thought this would be standard in a self catering style accommodation. Also on Booking.Com it states Garden, but although there were outside fields, there wasn't a designated garden or any outside seating area. A bit misleading.
- Brian (10/5): It was an enjoyable, restful stay, just what we had looked for. - The barn is in a remote local which is what I was looking for. The host was very helpful and provided a selection of tea and coffee Nothing
- julian (10/5): Peaceful relaxing location was central to a lot of places - Very peaceful the open plan kitchen and lounge was excellent, views out of windows where amazing, dogs loved the two enclosed and secure fields , and the place was very clean and totally relaxing and the hosts where very friendly would definitely book again , would highly recommend. There was nothing not to like
- Ndjfjhcbebj (10/5): Massive beautifully decorated space - Possible 1 of the best air bnb Ive stayed at, massive space and super eco on the cost.. ideal if you have a dog..
- GARY (10/5): - Lovely and quiet. N/A

- Tanis (10/5): Absolutely wonderful. can't wait to stay again - Everything was lovely and peaceful, exactly what I needed for a weekend away.
Lovely facilities.
The bed is incredibly comfortable, and the shower is nice too.
They even provided some milk and some fresh eggs from their own chickens, which was lovely and very helpful, my first morning with an essential cup of tea! The only tiny downside was no wifi in the accommodation, but it wasn't an issue as my mobile data works great here. And I understand how hard it can be to get wifi in such remote areas like this.
- Luc (8/5): -
- Julie (9/5): Beautiful barn and a super place to stay - The Barn was really great, easy to find and very well equipped. Lovely to have fresh eggs and milk left for breakfast. Being able to use the field to give my dog a run was a bonus. No wifi available
- Chris (10/5): Beautiful accommodation in a secluded, peaceful location, ideal for a relaxing break. - Beautiful accommodation
Perfect, secluded and peaceful location
Perfect for a relaxing break N/A
- Roselyn (10/5): Lovely country break. - Warm on arrival, perfect for a country break for 2 . Our two furry kids were also made welcome.
Location was also great. ?
- Keith (10/5): Perfect 10 out of 10 - The Barn was the perfect location for our overnight stay, so quiet and peaceful, the host met us on arrival and assured us if we needed anything please come and ask which was much appreciated, the star of the show was the secured field opposite the Barn, which after a long car journey our Cockapoo loved, all in all a fantastic stay thank you Absolutely nothing, 10 out of 10, we will definitely stay again on our next journey south to Dartmoor
- Rob (9/5): -
- Derrick (10/5): - Great little barn. Very clean, Very comfortable loved the wood burner. Thank you
- Leanne (9/5): 2nd time visiting. Views and comfortable - Location, views and peaceful Nothing
- Stewart (9/5): Super tranquil spot for a couple and their dog with outstanding views. - The property has the most amazing views and is situated on a quiet country lane with far reaching views over adjacent farmland. Parking is at the side of the property. The accommodation was super clean; the facilities in the kitchen were excellent with a full oven and hob and even a dishwasher. Everything was modern and worked well. It really feels like a somewhere you would pay twice as much to stay in. Much better than a shepherds hut and better value, especially given the chance to take your dog. Loads of room for a couple plus pooch. The ready prepared and stoked log burner was a real plus as were the tea, coffee, milk and even eggs that were provided. Excellent. There isn't any wifi, but there is a 4G phone signal. This didn't bother us, but may be something to consider as some people may want to access streaming services for music or TV in the evening. The digital Freeview service was fine for us and there are plenty of board games to keep you amused.
- Maxine (10/5): Perfect stay - Beautiful cottage with lovely views Everything was perfect
- Lynn (10/5): - Beautiful presented and so Cosy and hosts were so helpful
- Rachel (10/5): Perfect little 1 night stay. - Lovely little get away đ©·

- catherine (9/5): -
- angela (9/5): Great dog friendly accommodation with everything you need and a stunning view. - Great location with stunning views from the bedroom and dining table. I only saw the owner on arrival because I spent both days out and about, but she seemed pleasant. The barn was extremely clean with plenty of storage. Lovely welcome basket with tea/coffee etc plus fresh eggs. Upon booking the owner offered to provide dog bowls etc but I brought my own as well as his crate which there was plenty of room for. The field opposite the house is brilliant for dogs to have a run. Mine liked looking at the chickens through the fence. The shower was decent and powerful enough. Easy to work radiators and a log burner. The property had all utensils, crockery, pots and pans you would need. I wasnât bothered about not having WiFi although my own signal was a bit slow. The tv had enough channels without having to rely on internet for Netflix etc. All in all a great stay and I would come back. These arenât massive negatives and didnât put me off. Being just over 5â9ââŠhaving a foot board on the bed level with the top of the mattress meant I either had to curl up or lay diagonal. The latter was ok for me as a solo traveller and ok if youâre happy curling up. The door handle was stiff when locking the door which the owner had explained. It required 2 hands sometimes which could be difficult when holding the dog on the lead.
A very loud noise woke me at 2am which when I heard it whilst awake the next day, may have been from the owners property when a tap was turned on or toilet flushed.
A bench to sit on in the field would be a lovely added bonus. These are only small things which shouldnât stop you from staying as the positives far outweigh them.
- neil (10/5): spot on, exactly as described - Quiet, large field for the dogs, lovely place. Nothing
- Mayles (10/5): - Loved the views and location was brilliant.
- Jay (10/5): Love it - Perfect location for us with great views.

- Vanessa (10/5): Brilliant - Brilliant place, brilliant location, great hosts very friendly, dog friendly, Use of the field to exercise the dogs.
Quiet peaceful, relaxing, clean, lovely location. Wifi is not good but seriously if you need WiFi in this beautiful part of the world, then stay in your town. The views and location are superb. Nothing
- kylie (8/5): -
- Cristian Lupu 1976 (9/5): - Nice view, great location, very cozy and quiet. Small tv. not smart ,no WiFi, no washing machine, no cofee machine ,small fridge, very old utensils in the kitchen.

- Kanchan (10/5): -
- Amy (8/5): -
- megan (10/5): Perfect one night stay - The owners are so accommodating and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Nothing - there was no wifi but that wasn't a problem for us
- Susan (7/5): Lovely & peaceful but you do need to drive to the âlocalâ pub.No outside seating so you are stuck inside once you re - Very peaceful setting No garden, we would of liked to sit outside to eat, enjoy a glass of wine & watch the sunset
- Elizabeth (10/5): A great cottage. Really felt away from it all. A great relaxing stay. - Loved this cottage đ. A welcome basket of milk tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits on arrival. Spacious, well laid out. GORGEOUS views from the dinner table across the Tamar Valley and a lovely woodland garden for the dogs to sniff around (very welcome in this hot weather). Will definitely be staying again. Hosts also friendly and knowledgeable about the local area.

- Nicola (10/5): Perfect - Everything, amazing views, lovely hosts, great accommodation Nothing
- Eve (10/5): Gorgeous barn and location! My stay was work related but I can't wait to come back with my doggies! - The barn was self-catering, but the hosts left milk and eggs, which was lovely! I could have stayed longer!
- Janet (10/5): Delightful find and I wish all self-catering properties were up to this standard. - Lovely simple lay-out. Everything was clean and well-organised. The views were delightful and it was peaceful. It ticked all my boxes. Additionally, the family letting the property were super friendly. Very grateful to have stayed here. Would have benefited from outdoor seating, a bench maybe, round the back. It didnât detract from my stay because of the nature of my visit.
- Lonnie (10/5): Delightful stay. - The Barn has been beautifully converted and is comfortable, well equipped and has everything you could need. The hosts are lovely. The location is terrific. The facilities are very good. The Barn is maintained to a high standard and is perfectly clean. The bed is comfortable. Everything was excellent.
Additionally, what I appreciated was that the bedding and furnishings are synthetic, hence no animal products are used. I would definitely stay again. Nothing.
- Christopher (9/5): Superb - This conversion was amazing. So roomy and extremely comfortable. With the double glazing, there was no need to use the wood burner.
The views are a delight.
We wished we could have stayed longer.
The eggs were so fresh. Nothing

- Jeannette (9/5): Superb - Lovely peaceful location, good facilities, friendly hosts, very helpful. Lovely field to sit and chill in.
- Tina (10/5): Relaxing - Lovely comfy and clean accommodation in a very quiet location. Stunning views across the moor. So nice to have a welcome basket with eggs milk tea coffee and biscuits. Very friendly and helpful hosts.
- Sara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (10/5): A great night's stay in an idyllic location - Firstly, I had to change the date but the owners were extremely accommodating - thank you!
They gave us 'what 3 words' for directions which made the barn very easy to find.
The barn was spotlessly clean and the facilities were lovely, modern kitchen with everything you needed including kitchen towel, dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid, tea towels, salt and pepper and cooking oil - things that are easily forgotten. Plus, there were some extras! Eggs and milk, tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits, very much appreciated.
The views from the dining table and bedroom were fabulous and we loved the wood burner. Whilst there wasn't any wifi, this wasn't a particular issue as we were only there 1 night however, anyone staying for a protracted length of time might find this a challenge.
- Jay (10/5): Highly recommend - Spacious stay in a lovely quiet location with a field opposite to walk the dog!! Fresh eggs from the pet chickens and dog treats (for the dog) were an added bonus !!
- Technician66 (9/5): Superb - Lovely comfortable and clean.
The stay only for one night, but could of stayed longer.
Great little hamper on arrival with milk, eggs, coffee and tea and biscuits.
Thank you again
- Darren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (9/5): Fantastic - Great location. Well laid out. Warm and peaceful. Nice touches with fresh farm eggs and milk. All was to a very high level. My only observation was the shower, whilst sufficient, would benefit from more power and a bigger shower head. Probably as itâs only an electric shower and not a mains fed one.
- Matthew (10/5): Egg-cellent stay! - Clean and light, very relaxing space!
Loved the eggs! Nothing
- Mary (10/5): Amazing , comfortable, spacious, lovely decorated barn conversion, we would be happy to live in it . - We liked having tea , coffee , milk , sugar , eggs all in a lovely basket , great to make a cuppa as soon as you arrive . - Rob (10/5): great very well equipped accommodation in a great rural location. - great location and even though i was a bit concerned about finding the place in a pea-sooper of an evening - if you follow the supplied instructions its easy. The accommodation is on a long straight of a back road, but the view out the back is open fields for as far as you can see ( or not in the fog ! :) )
Nice touch that the hosts left some eggs and some milk - so i could have something hot when i got there
will definitely stay here again next time i need to be in the area. Many thanks Its worth noting there is no wifi and a poor phone signal so don't expect to be able to work on line easily.
- Vera (10/5): Exceptional - Thornmoor Barn was a very comfortable place to rest after a hike. Spacial and very warm. I had a few places to see around this place which took me approximately 15-20min drive.

The barn had everything there that we needed, the added little extras were great. Board games, puzzles, tea, coffee, milk and some fresh eggs from the chickens. Mick was a great host and gave us a nice welcome, he suggested some local pubs and the closest shops. We had use of the field to excersize the dog which was great. There was a dog bed, bowls and dog biscuits too! They really have covered everything. The book of leaflets was handy, we found some lovely places to visit. We've enjoyed our stay and I will recommend this property to friends and family. There wasn't anything we didn't like.
