Guest Reviews
- James (7/5): The flat was ideal, and it was fine in the end, but will try to avoid Original Cottages next time. - New build property, clean and comfortable furnishing - ideal property for a holiday in Swanage. They didn't give us the correct address - either via booking.com or the many, many messages and emails from Original Cottages. The postcode was wrong (was for a different part of the street), the house number wasn't provided and is essential for houses in that street (the building has a name, but this isn't registered with Royal Mail and can't be looked up). We eventually walked up and down the street until we found it.
Additionally the over-communication from Original Cottages was somewhat anxiety inducing. The many (sometimes contradictory) rules and regulations in the messages and also notes and the thick book of mixed information inside the property could have been condensed into a single email or a page or two of A4, e.g. what to do on arrival, how the bins work, what to do on departure, who to call if there's a problem (and most importantly, the correct address).
Despite using booking.com, their messages repeatedly said there would be more information if we registered with the Original Cottages website. I eventually did this, there was no more information and apparently no way to link the account on their website with the booking.com booking - it should not be necessary to register with another company's website when I book through booking.com.
In the end it was fine and a nice holiday, and I'm sure they mean well and intended to communicate clearly - but it wasn't the usual relaxed experience of booking a stay via booking.com.
