• Sally (1/5): Terrible. - The location was good. The neighbours are nice. That was it. We had a terrible experience at this 'cute getaway' here in HCMC. You'd honestly be better at any hotel locally - which would be cheaper. There is no charm or view, it's little more than a small room with a few amenities squished up against one wall. There was very little room for luggage, and we had to constantly move our luggage around to ensure we had enough space to walk from the bed to the bathroom. The bathroom door is also thin and questionable. Very audible and partly visible (frosted glass sliding door which is not soundproof) so keep that in mind. There was full on construction work going on downstairs from 7am both days we stayed. The host responded after we decided to check out early saying, verbatim, "there will be no more construction today" - thanks, I guess? Next challenge was getting the WiFi password. After 2 days of us trying to get hold of the host and burning through our data plan, she told us the password was obviously available on a 'note' in the main entrance hallway. We sent pictures proving there was nothing there, but the host did not believe us. She provided us the password after we asked multiple times, but she still said that clearly we had simply not looked hard enough for the piece of paper in the main entrance hallway. Even though we sent photo proof that there was not a piece of paper with WiFi details there. The aircon did not work properly as well, which made things more difficult. When we mentioned this to the host, she simply said that we did not know how to use it properly and implied that we don't know how to operate a basic air con unit. Absolutely horrible experience. We paid £340 for 4 days. We left after day 2, having made arrangements with a local hotel after our responses from the host. We didn't get a refund, and received NO response from the host after our complaints - just a sunk cost on our holiday.
• Anthony (10/5): I would definitely recommend this place. - Host was not in the area upon check in but she made sure someone came to show me to my room. It was clean, cool and quiet. In a quiet alley away from traffic, friendly neighbors, I slept like a baby. This is the quintessential Saigon guest house.
