- Carol (8/5): Amazing place bathroom was a let down - I loved the location the facilities were 10 out of 10 place was immaculate hit tub was spot on and sauna amazing đ The bathroom is a hazzard the bath panel pops out there is a hazzard with shower door and bathroom door if both were opened at same time also bath is very small very difficult toilet facilities as stairs are very small and steep overhead shower was all we could use bending over bath if bath was removed and shower installed would be more accessible

- Jeane (9/5): -
- Andy (9/5): Great stay - Clean, modern and comfortable Nothing to grumble about
- Louise (10/5): Excellent would definitely return. - Location excellent!
Facilities amazing
Have recommended to friends.
- Alison (8/5): Nice po - Great location, spacious modern open plan kitchen/lounge. Some cleanliness issues, debris and hairs in bedside drawers, cutlery and plates, cups, glasses needed thorough cleaning. Second bed a single rather than a double, for one adult only.
- Jacqueline (10/5): - Location was great Smelt s bit damp toilet wasn't clean
- Jane (9/5): Great, very well equipped. - Well equipped, clean, comfy bed! Sofa was low & not very comfortable
- Daryl (9/5): A great place to stay - Location excellent as very quiet and two great fish restaurants, The Fish Shack and Old Boathouse, within a few minutes walk. Great as a base to explore Northumberland.
Clean, comfortable property with the added benefit of a sauna and hot tub. Nice touch leaving a bottle of wine and nibbles on arrival.
Parking is free on street outside property and this was no problem during our stay. The size of the second double bed.
- christine (9/5): - Attractive, comfortable and well laid out house for 4 guests. Hot tub and sauna a bonus.
Excellent location for facilities in Amble: beach, harbour and puffin cruise, market, fish and chip shop and town.
- jacqueline (9/5): - Property was clean and well equipped. Location was great near to Pubs and Restaurants. Hot tub and sauna was lovely and private. Never had a problem parking. Nothing
- John (9/5): Excellent -
- Elaine (7/5): Great location as close to harbour and town centre. Parking available both on street and behind property. - Very central. We had an issue with the hot tub but this was dealt with quickly by owners once we alerted them.
- Wilson (9/5): Excellent accommodation in lovely town. - Good location clean and comfortable Only down side is would like better instructions on use of the equipment in the house. Ie dishwasher, sauna etc as while we could muddle through it felt a bit unnecessarily fiddly
- Nadine (9/5): -
- Ian (10/5): We will definitely stay here again when we next visit Northumberland - Everywhere was clean and tidy and the hot tub was an added bonus
- Robert (8/5): Location fab , gaff fab , defo return - everything spot on No shelfâs in bathroom
- Anne (8/5): Overall our stay was lovely and we would definitely visit again - The location was perfect - in easy reach of all of the places we wanted to visit. The cottage itself was situated on a lovely little harbour which was very tranquil and relaxing. Lots of places to eat within 2 minutes walk. No visitors information available - where things were located such as nearest Vet/Pharmacy/GP. Also no general information on places to visit etc. The rear of the cottage backs on to some un-attended waste land.
- Julie (10/5): Highly recommend. Excellent location and perfect accommodation - Clean and modern and relaxing Liked everything
- Lee (8/5): Very good - Location was excellent, house was comfortable and clean
- Vivien (9/5): Excellent Cottage in a fabulous location - The location, the hot tub, very spacious. A little bit more equipment in the kitchen wouldnât go amiss, eg small bowls for heating things, a toast rack, a second frying pan.
- Sarah (10/5): Fantastic time in Amble in a lovely house - Lovely house, easy parking and great location. Handy for restaurants and takeaways in Amble.
- Neil (10/5): Exceptional - Great location next to the waterfront, bars and shops a few minutes away.
Very clean, lovely bedding, fully loaded kitchen and the TV with Netflix and Prime.
Home from home. Not a criticism, but a small coffee table in the lounge areal and a small bin in the bathroom would have been useful.
- Shaun (10/5): Exceptional -
- Linda (10/5): Amazing place - There's nothing not to like about this property. We especially liked it's location, all the amenities the ease of parking and the hottub is fabulous. Nothing
- Claire (10/5): Amazing - Excellent location the owners have thought of everything a family would need Nothing
- Julie (10/5): A home away from home. - Everything was perfect
- Jodi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paula (10/5): Comfortable, clean and great location. -
- Nicola (8/5): Very good - Lovely stay will defo book again
- Tracey (10/5): Lovely cottage, great location. - Fantastic location, so close to everything with a resteraunt, tea room, play park & beach at the bottom of the street & a fish & chip shop at the top of the street. Just a few minutes walk to a pub & Chinese takeaway plus Amble harbour with more resteraunts, fresh fish seller & novelty shops in wooden huts. Tip would be to book online if going to the Fish Shack - great food!
The downstairs of the cottage is spacious, comfortable & clean. Everything you need in the large kitchen, dishwasher & washing machine. There's good WiFi & a smart tv a small yard with seating & a bonus of a converted garage with hot tub & sauna!
Upstairs there's a small bathroom with overbath shower, pristine luxury white towels & dressing gowns & slippers x4. There are 2 spotless bedrooms with super comfy beds. The main bedroom is spacious & has a hairdryer. The 2nd bedroom has a double bed but is quite small, however has a view of the sea/harbour.
We would love to stay again! â¤ď¸ â¤ď¸ â¤ď¸ No dislikes just suggestions:
A welcome pack with instructions for the wifi & tv.
A couple of steps to make getting in & out of the hot tub easier.
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steve (9/5): Superb - We booked this property as it offered a hot tub and sauna which we made good use of. We would look to book this property in the future. Although well equipped in many ways, as others have mentioned, this property would benefit from one or two little extra touches, such as a fixed mirror and shelf in the bathroom, a small coffee table and perhaps a few games.
- Kate (8/5): We had a lovely few days in Amble. It was nice to be able to walk out from the house and the weather was good to us. All - The living room was very comfortable and the owners made it very welcoming for Christmas providing a Christmas tree, mince pies, 2 bottles of wine mince pies chocolates and biscuits. Such a welcome surprise. My partner also loved the sauna and hot tub although the location wasnât for me. I think it would be improved by having a better stocked kitchen. In particular , a bread knife, a sieve, a box cheese grater and generally more plates and cutlery.
- Helen (9/5): Great house in a perfect location - Lovely house with great facilities and in a perfect location near the harbour. Amble is a beautiful place to visit with everything you need for a holiday by the sea and Oyster Retreat is a great place to base yourself within walking distance if everything. The extra touches of Prosecco and treats on arrival and the effort of Christmas decorations including a tree made it even more special. The hot tub and sauna are also great additions to the facilities. The owners were friendly and helpful when we needed to contact them. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend staying here. Nothing! Some instructions/information on using some of the appliances eg heating/sauna/tv would have been useful but we figured things out and the owner responded very quickly to our enquiries so this didnât spoil our stay.
- Alastair (10/5): Great place and a great base! - A great find, and a great place to stay in Amble! Despite the storm and rain, Oyster Retreat is warm and well-appointed - don't know why I sound like an estate agent - in plain speak, it's lovely, we'd stay again, great base to explore the coast & inland from, with good pubs, seafood restaurant, chippy, lovely! Maybe the second bedroom's bed could be less squishy!!
- Shona (10/5): Highly recommended excellent - Better than I expected
- Andrew (10/5): Perfect little place for a break/holiday - Everything there you need for the perfect getaway Nothing at all
- Gillian (9/5): Superb -
- Andy (6/5): Great modern house but let down with a faulty boiler. Would have been a 10/10 otherwise. - Nice modern house and loved the hot tub and sauna. Boiler broke down 3 times while we were there so no access to hot water and heating. Frustrating not to have a shower for 2 mornings of our stay.
- Murphy (9/5): Great Amble Accommodation - Great location, fantastically clean, well presented, well equipped, and comfy. We've stayed in Amble four times now, and this has been the best all-round. The street was very quiet as well so we slept well and we had no problems parking. We would've benefitted from a small step to get in and out of the hot tub and two door keys would've been helpful.
- David (10/5): lovely amble ..in a beautifull house... - everything..a great place to stay in beautifull amble..fish and chips at end of road..lovely..a last minute booking..but would stay again...very cosy home from home .... steep step to get out of front door ..but thats about it...
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional - Everything
- Catherine (9/5): Relaxing , felt spoiled with the extra of sauna, jacuzzi - Position of property , comfort , quality of property , everything you needed . Loved the extras .. bottle of Prosecco and shortbread , milk , teabags etc on arrival Loved the sauna and jacuzzi . An extra treat after walking along the beach Thank you Nothing. Excellent stay
- Lisa (9/5): Definitely will book this property again. - Great location, the property was very well equipped and lovely and clean. Nothing
- Butler (8/5): If weather is right it's perfect - Location was perfect No downstairs wc
No small tables to put glasses on when watching tv
- Rebecca (10/5): Lovely house and great location for quiet break - Excellent location you come out of the back gate onto the harbour, the town of Amble is lovely, quiet but nice to wander around the podâs around the harbour for gifts, coffee or ice cream and only a short walk to the Main Street with a Tesco and a few other shops. Nice pub at the end of the road and you can get take away delivery if you donât want to cook. Kitchen supplies everything you need if you do want to, and is lovely and clean. House is furnished lovely and is spotless, as is sauna and hot tub, astroturf outside is great addition. Beds are really comfy! Lovely gift of Prosecco and chocolate from the host and bath robes, slippers and mini toiletries. Those little extras are very thoughtful from great hosts. Would definitely visit again đ
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): Great accommodation and base to explore Northumberland - Great location for exploring Northumberland try Alnwick castle , Warkworth and nearby nature reserve Hauxley. Close to harbour which was great for market , craft shops , puffin boat tour a must and some lovely places to eat can recommend Fish Shack sharing seafood platter ! Accommodation great Prosecco and shortbread lovely touch . Large kitchen with everything from air fryer to washer provided as well as tea coffee and milk . Very comfortable beds bedding and towels provided. The sauna and hot tub lovely to relax in with robes and slippers provided too . Parking free outside front or back of property . Thanks for a lovely stay ! Nothing
- Carol (9/5): Hidden jem in Amble - Sauna was amazing and hot tub washing machine dishwasher hot air fryer was a surprise welcome pack included milk sugar coffee tea bottle prosecco and shortbread fantastic view of coast from bedroom car boot sale on Saturday and Sunday market on pier located out back where there was a pier local restaurants gift shops in beach huts boat rides local tesco 5 min walk everything on doorstep didn't need to use car once beach 5 mins walk from back door outstanding immaculate and exceptionally good value for money The steep stairs to upper bedrooms and toilet overbath shower I feel a shower beside hot tub and sauna would benefit the difficulty to climb stairs and into a bath after a sauna/hot tub
- Heather (10/5): Great little house in Amble - Super location right by the sea. Lovely morning walks around the harbour. Accommodation was great, clean and modern. Hosts were very kind with the arrival gift of Prosecco and biscuits. Went down a treat after going in the hot tub and sauna. Superb value for money.
- Wendy (4/5): Awful end to a nice holiday - Location great for harbour, cafe, good restaurant. Parking no problem. Beds very comfy. Spacious downstairs . Linen great. Warm. Good price . I was there with my good friend Wendy. Sheâs too soft to write a review on how this has been - however Iâm not . When we pulled the blinds up , the cord came adrift from the mechanism. She called and told the âmanager âimmediately so it would be sorted . She said they were new and it would be sorted , not to try ourselves . I suspect home made- though very nice ;but both blinds went the same way with the first pull up . I thought they should be sorted and complain again but W said we will manage itâs ok. We immediately received a demand from the manager via booking for ÂŁ800 for the blinds after the ( first ) review was sent in. Not before note . It was seemingly not a problem then. The âmanagerâ literally screamed down the phone , not allowing any explanation that the blinds were not broken , we just hadnât been left with blinds which were fit for purpose . We had tried to manage. I would never go there again. Iâm not saying this for spite but we spent so much money and now feel stressed and exhausted . Such a real shame as the owner has made a lot of effort and we didnât want to ruin previous good reviews by complaining about blinds that were new and dysfunctional. Really they just needed re threading properly. Booking.com have been good so far but we will Iâll need to consider action relating to possible fraud for the claim etc as itâs unlikely anyone actually thought they were âbroken â. This was really ruined a nice holiday and was totally avoidable. Awful customer service. Especially being screamed at down the phone . My friend was crying afterwards .
- Carla60 (10/5): Beautiful home near waterfront & centre of the village, with hot tub & sauna. - Lovely home, spotlessly clean & beautifully presented. Modern furnishings, well equipped kitchen & incredibly comfortable beds. The cottage is located right by the harbour area in Amble. Everything is on the doorstep, pub, chippy, cafe, beach & pier. Supermarket a short walk away. Free street parking right outside the door. We loved the extra bonus of the hot tub & sauna, which made the stay extra special. Dressing gowns & slippers were provided. Host is friendly & communication excellent. Thank you for the bottle of bubbly. What a treat! We would definitely stay again.
- Smith (10/5): Very pleased and thankful to to the hosts for opening there lovely home to us - Very clean, nice facilities, lovely appliances, modern fit , worth the money

Possibly television as we couldn't always steam live tv however the streaming services etc netflix we just logged in to our own so made the most of that during the evenings.
