Guest Reviews
- James (8/5): -
- annabel (10/5): -
- jemma (10/5): -
- Robin (1/5): Dirty: mold, dirty laundry, dead bugs (see pictures) - The place has potential but I had to partially clean it myself before it was liveable. At least make it clean and have the fire exit unblocked! The house is big but when its fully booked you will have a bad time. If clean and fixed then this would be nice for 6-8 people max (allthough there is only place to sit in the kitchen for max 5 persons) So many things are wrong here:
Unresponsive host
Dirty laundry in washing maschine which smelled really bad (mold?)
Dead bugs everywhere
Stains on the walls
Sticky floor (spilled coke?)
Shower coming loose from the wall
Bath falling apart
Sink in bathroom is broken (water wont flush)
Fire exit blocked
- Andrew (1/5): - Staff not helpful when we were locked out.
- Liam (7/5): Very good value for money location great for onwards travel from East Midlands Airport - Liked the location as it was only about 10 minutes from East Midlands Airport The shared Bathroom although is was nice and clean
- Daniel (7/5): - Plug sockets near the bed
- paul (9/5): Great Stay -
- shaun (7/5): -
- carolyn (9/5): -
- Charity (10/5): A place to stay - Convenient for transportation and the security Nothing during my stay
- Rebecca (8/5): Would stay again - Perfect for travelling to East Midlands airport. You can leave your car parked on high street and get airport bus, there is a bus stop a couple of minutes down the road. Easy access instructions. It’s a very big property with multiple rooms/floors. It was quiet at night and we slept fine. Towels were provided which was very handy. I would recommend this place if you’re looking for a cost effective stop before an early morning flight. The bathroom smelt of cigarette smoke, not the owners fault but I think some people had been smoking in there previously which is a shame.

- Warren (6/5): -
- Sally (10/5): - Amazing in every way. Location, property, facilities, cleanliness. Id been dismissive previously due to shared bathroom, this was not an issue at all. Plenty of bathrooms that its like having your own. This is a great place to stay. I've been 3 times now. Wouldn't go anywhere else
- Sally (9/5): -
- Collier (9/5): Superb value - Spacious room with shared facilities. Access to lounge and well-equipped kitchen. Comfortable, clean and superb value.Nothing Nothing
- Geoff (9/5): -
- Alan (8/5): Good for a nights stay before airport depaeture - Quiet...private The room doors need an upgraded closing eqipment as they crash/bang when closing
- Emma (9/5): A fab place to stay for Downlaod FEstival - Great kitchen facilities and large bathrooms The wifi passwords could do with being typed out as it takes a few tries to get the correct password. Also some of the lock to the rooms can be a bit fiddly.
- Isabela (10/5): -
- Emma (6/5): Overall fine but a bit annoying - Our room and the shared bathroom was clean, and a lot of effort had clearly been made in installing all the fire doors. The wifi password on the huge printed sign in the hallway was wrong, and there is no phone reception in the building so it was impossible to ring Amy and Damien to get more info. I did find the correct wifi password on the router on the end, but it was annoying, especially when coupled with about 5 signs saying 'remove your shoes', which isn't very welcoming - care goes both ways. I also think some UHT milks would have been a nice touch to tip the place into 'hotel' more than 'student lodgings', which it currently basically is.
- Ashley (10/5): -
- Peter (1/5): Bad -
- Emma (9/5): Another fantastic stay. Brilliant location for Download festival. - The location was perfect for the Download festival The locks could be fiddly
- Naomi (9/5): Thanks for a lovely stay. - Great location More seating needed in lounge when guests of 10+ arrive.
- Roelof (6/5): Ok but expensive for what it is. - Central location and a short walk to Donington circuit. No parking and awareness that despite being told that there's plenty of on street parking, this is not true during Download festival as they close all on street parking in the village for the duration.
- Stephanie (7/5): It's a good location for the festival. But a lot of money! - It is a prime location for Download Festival. Only 30 minutes walk. There is also a pub nearby, also the airport, so you have to put up with the sound of planes, but that didn't bother us. I understand that they hoke up the prices for Download, but I paid a LOT of money for two nights. And a shared bathroom. More than I could really justify. My room was fine, but the bed was a little uncomfortable. A bit springy. The sheets looked a little old and some permanent stains which happens with use, but they were clean, I believe. My TV remote was missing.
- Jess (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steven (5/5): Passable -
- Shaun (7/5): Good - No kettle/tea/coffee in room
On-road parking
Shared bathroom
- Kev (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kelly (6/5): Reasonable - It is absolutely fine…… basic but clean Bathroom is on the first floor, we stayed on ground floor. Tv plug wouldn’t reach socket so had to take it off wall to plug it in! Bit more like a hostel ……. No head boards,
- Guy (7/5): Good place to lay your head, just don’t expect any extras - The room was comfortable
Access to the local pubs for a bite to eat once arrived was easy
The hosts whilst remote (not present) were contactable and responsive My understanding was that it was a bed and breakfast but following a message with the owner it prov d to be a room only.
The Wi-Fi didn’t work
Parking was on the street, no off road parking.
- Alan (9/5): USB outlet needed....door slams shut too loud - Used this place before....will use again USB sockets
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Namatohalla (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (3/5): Would not stay again! - The kitchen facilities The heating!absoloutley freezing!had to sleep in track suit!no television,no wi-fi.
- Everst (6/5): Pleasant - Was clean 👌 Bus stop near to house. Shared toilets and showers were abit hard to get use to as noise was heard easily! Nothing worked on the tv! Needed to be logged in everywhere.
- Benjamin (8/5): Very good - The booking.com system was a nightmare, as told would be sent details to access accommodation the morning after I would have checked out.
If it wasn't for another guest I would not have got in.
Accomodation and facilities were great.
Big TV but could not use it as had to connect to something, despite there being WiFi.
- Juan (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was as it is offered on the advert! Highly recommend it!
- Jim (8/5): Excellent location very comfortable. No wifi upstairs - Location excellent Very muddy to front door, as appreciate ongoing building work
- Richard (10/5): Perfect for our purpose - Location was so good. Amy was so o helpful 😊
- Stan (1/5): Bad - Nothing Couldn't get in property had to get the cleaner out of bed to let me in. Driveway was like a swamp.
- Catalin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adam (4/5): Disappointing -
- Rachel (6/5): Pleasant -
- Dale (10/5): Exceptional -
- Szymon (7/5): Good -
- Htzyh (8/5): Convenient for a night's stay - Lovely sized room. Convenient communal areas. Not super clean and very noisy and bright at night being close to the road.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Romuald (8/5): Very good - It is a house where you can use all the facilities as if it were yours. Nice decoration, comfortable beds. The kitchen and bathroom were great. People leave leftover food behind, expect to find coffee, tea, sugar etc. No parking, you have to leave the car on the main road.
- Zach (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eliasova (9/5): Superb - Nice clean place in good location
- Phil (9/5): Lovely room and shared facilities, would definitely stay again. - Clean, warm and functional room. Entry instructions were simple, communication was really good and all the facilities you need are downstairs. Personally I found the shared bathroom facilities down the landing a little awkward but that is purely because I have not had this before and have got used to en suite but that said it was very clean and well kept.
- Kelly (7/5): Good - Kitchen was lovely Television did not work in our room as in some others we found out.we enquired to get this remadied but no-one appeared 3days in silence
- Donna (8/5): Very good - nice and clean and cosy and well situated to Donington Park
- Edward (8/5): Very good -
- Darraugh (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sarah (8/5): Very pleasant - Ease of access, parking and getting the bus to EMA airport Hairdryer and bin in the room would have been great!
- Thaufeek (10/5): Exceptional - Yes Location bit hard to find
- Alan (8/5): A great recovery after being let down/disappointed with Leonardo hotel - Having a 24hr bus service to the airport made the stay perfect The stairs were a bit steep for us old codgers
- Lee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (9/5): Superb - It was clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Although it had a shared bathroom, this wasn't a problem, particularly as it was right opposite our room. There was a kitchen on the ground floor, which was communal. It had a washing machine, fridge, cooker, hob etc so you could cook if you wanted to. It is very close to Donington Circuit, only a couple of miles, which was great as we were attending World Superbike for the weekend. There is a pub just up the road within walking distance, which serves food. We would definitely stay there again. It is situated on the main through road in Castle Donington and our room was on the front of the building so it was quite noisy with traffic even into the early hours of the morning but invest in some ear plugs and you will be able to sleep.
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ben (8/5): Very good - Good location.
Big bathroom. The room code sent to us was incorrect. We guessed that a 2 must be a Z in order to gain access in the end, but were close to phoning the owners as we couldnt get access after trying several times. Other customers had the same issue and we were able to show them 2 meant Z.
The TV didn't work, but was able to be screenshared to. Almost certainly it had no aerial? Possibly linked to the fact the property is a HMO so each room requires it's own TV licence, which is expensive.
Roadside parking isn't ideal, but is what it is.
- Gary (8/5): Lovely Place. - Everything was great for us. Clean, comfy. Not far away from nearby pubs & shops. Bus stop just up to road to get us to the Donington circuit. Staff were very lovely & helpful with any queries we had. Would reccomend having a set of keyboxes inside the property for spare keys incase you stupidly lock yourself out of the room. Small sign/plaque with the property name on the outside maybe, as it's not entirely obvious your at the property when you get there as your typically conditioned to looking out for the name of where your staying rather than the number. So only small things I'd class as negatives.
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional - Super helpful Airplanes taking off and landing...
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anthony (8/5): Very good -
- Tomasz (10/5): Exceptional -
- Victoria (8/5): Great value and Amy super helpful - Lovely room and easy to access, very clean. Could use a mirror in the bathroom
- Sarah (7/5): Nice stay - Close to airport clean and tidy One Key box wasn’t opening very easily needs fixing and was getting wet was pouring with rain trying to do it maybe some shelter there would be useful
- Geoffrey (8/5): THE ACCOMODATION WAS VERY CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE BUT A FEW THINGS NEED TO BE ADDRESSED - THE INSIDE WAS VERY PLEASANT AND THE ROOM CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE THIS IS NOT A HOTEL, HAD WE NOT ARRIVED EARLY AND FOUND THE CLEANERS STILL THERE,WHO HELPED US GET THE KEYS, WE MAY NOT HAVE GOT IN. YOUR MESSAGE ABOUT HOW TO GET IN DID NOT ARRIVE TILL LATE.
THE CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST WAS POOR, NO BREAD NO SUGAR TO NAME A FEW DISSAPOINTMENTS.
SO AS IT WAS NOT A HOTEL OR A B AND B NO BODY TO ASK .
- Hallgrímur (8/5): Very good - Location
Room Beds need replacing (mattress)
It was a little damp single glass in the window
- Christopher (8/5): Good value for money - Quirky, comfortable, close to where we needed to be. It is an old house but gives it lots of character. Good shared facilities and would happily book again
- Louise (7/5): Good - Comfy beds, Very noisy
- Vojtech (9/5): Very nice modern and well reconstructed place. Friendly staff and everything works. - Very quiet, tranquill place, walls have history from outside but inside is well maintained and reconstructed house. Lack of parking, but you can use sidewalk for emergency parking.
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nik (8/5): Great place for a short stay - The property was clean and tidy, and well maintained. It feels like a lot of effort has gone into making this a nice place to stay. I appreciated the smart TV in my room actually being connected to the internet! Had a minor issue accessing the key but Amy was very helpful in solving that issue, would definitely recommend for a short stay. While I was only there for one night, and travelling solo, it did strike me that there is nowhere in the communal rooms that is a comfy space to sit and relax. This is my only real negative as everything else was spot on.
- Dn (2/5): Very poor - Nothing really The property surrounding was deserted with dilapidated buildings directly opposite. There was no facility in the room, everything is shared with several other rooms. The outside lighting was poor
- Emma (9/5): Ideal location for events at Donington park with clean rooms - We stayed here for 1 night during Download Festival. The place was clean and had all the expected facilities. Check in and check out was contactless making it an ideal place to stay during the festival
- Salvati (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dawson (10/5): Fantastic service - Lovely fresh clean and inviting. The hostess Amy was fantastic, really helpful when we got lost, very accommodating so we could leave our bags, great communication through our stay too. We will definately be returning.
- Jayne (7/5): Not what I was expecting for the money - I'll start with what I liked, the bed was comfortable, the location great for the airport, The internet was ok. Communication online was great, answered within a few hours, although I had to ask for the code at 10 am - I was travelling and there was a possibility of no internet. Clean. I feel this place would be better advertised as an hostel rather than a more upmarket shared house. I have never booked a place with shared bathroom, and would never do again - for 70+euro I expected much more!
1. The whole communal areas with full of damp (see pics) and very sparsely furnished.
2 The room I stayed (room 3) was at the top of the house, I was unaware of this, I didn't see it mentioned in the ad (apologies if I missed it) so keep that in mind if you have luggage as the steps are uneven and carpeted - I only had two small carry on cases and had to take great care carrying them down one at a time (I'm fairly fit for a 57 year old)
3. The noise from the road was horrendous, I think I slept on and off for about 3 hours, which defeated the purpose of getting a good night's sleep before an early flight.
4. The bed linen and towels were old, the bed sheets not ironed (do that in your own house, but NOT for paying guests)
5. The carpet hadn't been vacuumed there were little white balls of cotton everywhere.
6. In the shared bathroom there was no hand soap! Imagine the germs on the towel and handle, when you can only rinse your hands! I have never stayed anywhere where they do not provide the small soaps. shampoo, conditioner etc. Who travels with hand soap?
7. The TV (as far as I could figure out) only had channels which you had to access through codes etc, no normal channels, Thankfully I was able to use my parents address, but if I had been a foreigner I would have been without a TV
8. No mirror, no hairdryer, nowhere to blow dry your hair, nor put on make up in your room. The bathroom could have been planned better, the upstairs one is big enough to have planned for separate shower/toilets.
Nothing like I was expecting. I have stayed in LOADS of places through booking.com sometimes I'm upset by cleanliness, or by missing facilities but I have never had enough 'grievances' to form a list before!
- Michael (7/5): Great location. Well presented and clean. Easily accessible. Just wasn’t expecting aircraft to be so intrusive. - Location to airport. Comfortable bed. Aircraft noise unexpectantly continuing into the early hours. Sleep impacted.
- Rebecca (7/5): Good stay for what we needed and reasonable price. Very helpful host! - The bedroom was nice, modern and had comfortable beds. Good size too. The shower was excellent! Didn't have any problem with queuing for the shared bathroom and it was nice and clean. The hosts were very helpful and quick to respond both beforehand and when needed during our stay. Property is in walking distance to small supermarket and some cafes which is great! Parking easy on the road. Communal living rooms were rather bare with no comfy sofas and just a couple of hard chairs and small coffee table. Feels a bit like a shared professional house. Good to be aware that phone reception is very poor, but wifi in living rooms ok-ish for whats app call/messages.
- Bronagh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lucca (8/5): Very good -
- Adam (10/5): Perfect stay for the airport - So convenient. Thank you for a great stay. Would definitely stay here next time I didn't like getting stuck in the downstairs toilet temporarily and Billy's snoring was far from ideal
- Oliver (4/5): Convenient and inexpensive but a little disappointing. - We let ourselves in after midnight and out mid morning without seeing anyone. Access and directions were good. The room was clean. The location is perfect for easy access to airport by bus (every 20 mins , 24 hours a day) 10 mins away. Two things. I was unaware there was a shared bathroom for several bedrooms. Following other guests means bathroom was not particularly clean. We had a room right on the street and were kept awake most of the night by traffic noise.
- Clare (6/5): Close to the airport, would have been disappointed if was staying there longer due to lack of things in the room. - The keys were hard to find in the dark. The room needs to have a mirror in as it’s a shared bathroom. The room could do with a kettle and complimentary tea/coffee in, especially after a long drive. There is a kitchen downstairs, however there is nothing to say you can help yourself to a drink. The fridge was stocked and was probably people who were staying there for longer.
- Jess (7/5): Used only to have somewhere to stay until our flight at 330am - Clean and warm Wasn’t I didn’t like it, but just having to share bathroom and kitchen …. But other guests kept it tidy too
- John (7/5): Not great but adequate -just. - The room was clean and comfortable and the guest-house was close to bus stops with frequent services to Derby and Nottingham - something important to me as someone without a car. No tea or coffee in the room. I couldn't find any in the kitchen either. A towel was provided but no toiletries. The shared bathroom was adequate but most places I've stayed in for the price provide en-suite facilities.
- Butt (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (8/5): Convenient, tidy and cheap! - In a good location for us No parking
Stairs very steep
Lock on bedroom door still locks, even when you lock the latch on open!
Size of the bed
- Stanley (9/5): Clean, comfortable and the other guests were nice people. - A vey nice old house (but not cold)! A stone’s throw from a decent pub The shower was a bit leaky but worked. The house was a bit creaky when other people were moving about but I get that it’s old and can’t be helped.
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional -
