Guest Reviews
- Sparkes (5/5): A good base with lovely views but cleanliness really lets this place down. - The location of the lodge is fantastic. The views across the fishing lake are lovely and the surrounding location is very peaceful. The accommodation served as a good overnight base with all of the basic amenities required. We found the cleanliness of the lodge upon our arrival as sub par, especially considering the price that we paid (£236 for the night). Small details were obviously missed on previous cleans (probably for time saving). Dirty shower screen, rubbish left in the bins from previous guests, dust, hair and general grubbiness. The washing machine also smelt pretty bad and the door was left open which gave the lodge an unpleasant smell.
Certain parts of furnishing and furniture need replacing as they are obviously tired and broken. The pannels around the toilet were crumbling, clearly going rotten.
We were left a card saying that we would find complimentary items around the lodge, however, the only thing left was a bottle of cider next to the same note. This was very nice but the note suggested that there would be more so I'm not sure if this was forgotten as well.
Overall, we found the lodge quite overpriced considering the standard of cleanliness and the tiredness of certain parts of the furnishings and furniture. We would have been extremely dissapointed if we had been staying here for longer than one night and if we weren't using it as a base for onward travel. I think new cleaners are required to really make this place sing as this is the main aspect that lets it down and corners were clearly being cut. The location and initial wow factor of the location need to be carried through into the inside of the property.
- Penny (6/5): Lovely location. Cleaning below standard. - Great location. My first impression was very good but as we used the property I felt like it all needed a deep clean. Especially the kitchen cupboards and drawers, crockery, toilet and shower. The mattresses in the double room also need updating. There were long hairs on my sheets. It’s sad because it’s a lovely place but I think we paid a good amount of money and so it should be very clean.
