Guest Reviews
- Kim (8/5): We would stay there again and recommend it. - Very clean and not cluttered with silly ornaments.
Great views, easy parking.
Friendly, helpful hosts. It would have been great if the heating had been on for our arrival, but it wasn’t and actually wasn’t working. Sue and Kev did their best to sort it on Friday but with no success. We had a very cold night and this made my arthritis worse.
Sorted on Saturday thank goodness.
The kitchen lacked a scrubbing sponge and we couldn’t clean the roasting dish very well. We left it in the dishwasher so hopefully it came up clean.
Perhaps the kitchen cupboards could be rearranged so one is empty to put stuff away in.
- Miles (10/5): - The accommodation was phenomenal There was a slight smell from downstairs bathroom.
- benita (10/5): -
- Andrea (7/5): Enjoyed our stay. Comfortable, relaxing and great history - Interesting property
Fantastic views Only request would be for an information folder
Wasn't sure if the sheep were supposed to be in the garden/car park ... ???
- Tim (10/5): - Beautiful accommodation in a peaceful location.
- Randall (7/5): -
- sarah (8/5): great short stay with everything you need -

- Nancy (8/5): Fantastic! Did not want to leave 👍👍 - We love this property. Its location, character, open plan layout and the views are spectacular.
We would love to visit it again. Our only issue was that the heating did not seem to go on high enough. We couldn’t seem to turn the temperature up to make it warm, even with the log burner it wasn’t quite warm enough, especially for my elderly mother-in-law. But it is an old property and probably difficult to heat. You just need to wrap up when you’re there. It wouldn’t put us off returning!
- Julia (10/5): Absolutely loved our stay. Didn’t want to leave. - Picturesque, excellent value for money, good location for many different places, dog friendly, clean, well catered for, great communication from host It was a little chilly even with underfloor heating but you’d expect that from a stone chapel!
- Catherine (10/5): -
- Lynn (8/5): - Excellent location Could do with a how to guide for putting heating up.
- Richard (10/5): - Property was perfect for our stay, it had everything we needed. Clean, tidy, great showers, comfy beds and sofa. Views are breathtaking from the back of the property, will look at visiting through the summer to make the most of them. Nothing at all.
- Lauren (10/5): -
- Lorraine (10/5): Absolutely loved it! - The property and location were both stunning. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Would be nice to have a folder with property info in eg. Where to put recycling, what's expected of us to do when we leave... Not everyone is totally comfy with technology!
- Paula (10/5): Can’t wait to return here☺️. - The layout was lovely, and having the living area upstairs, so that you can admire the amazing views. Was exceptionally clean, and the very well equipped kitchen provided everything you could possibly need during your stay. We did find the mattress extremely soft, as we are used to a firm mattress at home. But for a few days away, it was fine.

- Lawrence (10/5): Lovely stay perfect setting with beautiful views. - Lovely property just perfect for the bank holiday weekend. All the fixtures and fittings were new, beds were comfortable, bathrooms were perfect. Nothing. Everything was fantastic.

- Joshua (10/5): - Beautiful property, Excellent facilities. We really appreciated the little touches like the bottle of wine. The property was easy to find. Comfortable stay.
- Stevenson (10/5): Cautley chapel - The holiday home is located in a perfect location only between half an hour to 45minutes from various larger towns to visit very peaceful and quiet location to relax after a long day exploring the surrounding areas. Could do to leave contact numbers for a local doctors and vets just in case, and operating instructions for the oven and dishwasher we worked everything out ok but just incase anyone else may not know how to operate these kitchen appliances.
- Aspi (10/5): Amazing place to stay. - We liked everything. The host made our whole stay a very pleasant and memorable experience. Everything was provided for and we could not have wanted anything more. The place was clean, tidy and above all comfortable. We instantly on opening the door felt at home, The host responded quickly to our queries and accommodated our requests. Above all getting up in the morning and the view was breathtaking. Our stay at the Chapel greatly exceeded all our expectations. Even the torrential rain on two days of our holiday did not dampen our stay. Everything was perfect. The only comments I would add are: The hot drinking water tap - Instructions on how to use and short guide of friendly walks and attractions in the area.
- Caroline (10/5): Great property in stunning rural setting. - Great property, recently converted and finished to a high standard. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and stunning view over the hills.
- Gormanley (10/5): We enjoyed our holiday at the chapel and will definitely rebook another stay. - We liked the layout and comfortable furnishings of the property.
The work carried out in renovating and converting the chapel has been carried out to a high standard.
The chapels position provides an amazing backdrop of scenery from the rear of the property. We didn’t have any dislikes about the property.
- Paul (7/5): Good - Chapel was fantastic Grass was really long, no where for dogs to play, patio area needs attention
- Vicky (10/5): Amazing scenic property, will stay again. - Beautiful property, spacious and clean. Kitchen has everything you need. Good quality bed linen and towels.
The setting is amazing and the views fantastic. Nothing it was perfect.
- Tony (8/5): Great, quirky place to stay in a lovely location. Just needed a few details fixed. - Great, quirky place to stay in a lovely location. Shower rooms nicely fitted out and well equipped kitchen. The property is newly refurbished but we felt it had been rushed to get people in. A few pictures etc around would make it more homely. Also a few finishing touches would be nice, for instance hooks on doors as no wardrobes in two of the rooms. Curtains not fitted to all of the windows and things like a toilet roll holder in the shared shower room. Not the end of the world but food for thought.
- Gillian (9/5): Definitely be back. Fabulous stay, unusual very well presented property, excellent hosting , - Beautifully finished unusual property. Spacious, clean and well equipped. A couple of small bottles of wine together with tea, coffee , sugar and milk were very well received to make a drink on arrival. Not forgetting the biscuits. Plenty of logs for the wood burner. Comfortable bed. Glorious shower. Car park slightly away from property. Cemetery at front was a little off putting to begin with. A stair-gate at bottom of the stairs as well as top would have been helpful.
- Andy (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (10/5): See above. - The location was beautiful , the Chapel was excellent . The joy of having the lounge upstairs was that you were able to view the amazing countryside. Nothing.
- Mario (9/5): Perfectly modern renovated chapel with authentic elements making it a special place to be in. - Perfectly modern renovated chapel with authentic elements making it a special place to be in. The rear of the house has terrific views over Yorkshire Dales. No bath tub but a good shower is great. The place is quite and original close to Sedbergh.
- Martin (7/5): Good -
- Greg (10/5): Stunning place and setting. Host incredibly helpful. Could literally live at this place. -
- Natasha (10/5): Perfect place. 100% recommend - Everything. Perfect peaceful location. Ideal for my family and dog. Can't fault anything.
- James (10/5): Exceptional stay! - Amazing place, really well renovated and with outstanding views. Great location. Awesome hot showers after big days out walking.
- Charlene (8/5): Very good - Lovely renovation in great location with outstanding views
- Nalin (5/5): We spent two restless nights there due to the unpleasant smell and proximity of the cemetery - Newly refurbished chapel with new equipment. Good hot water supply.
Good heating system.
Back door of the chapel ( this door is used as front door of the cottage) opens up to a nice view.
Kitchen was fully equipped but no kettle The cottage(chapel) and cemetery is in same land. Front door of the chapel opens up to cemetery. The place has this weird cemetery smell.
Water was oily smells and tastes unpleasant, even after having a shower body feels slippery.
There was no kettle in the kitchen.
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mike (8/5): Very good -
- Amanda (10/5): Rural but cosy escape in a quirky chapel with stunning views. - This property is a bit different and special because it’s a converted chapel. Loved the high open ceiling and log burner with underfloor heating. The views were amazing. Fabulous host who looked after us by answering all our questions and making sure we had everything we needed to get started. Nothing
- Nicholas (9/5): Pleasantly surprised! - We had a great stay here. The property has been recently renovated to a very high standard. The location is great especially if you like walking! Beautiful views out the back windows. No pubs/restaurants within walking distance
- Julia (10/5): Lovely stay in a renovated chapel - Cautley Chapel has been brilliantly and thoughtfully renovated, with modern systems for heating etc, such as underfloor heating! Wifi worked perfectly. There are two bedrooms on the ground floor and 1 on the first floor. Gorgeous mezannine living room looking over the stone floor kitchen with wood burner. Cosy!
We loved the quirkiness of the chapel, it has kept lots of original features, including the graveyard outside, which added to the quirkiness.
The surroundings are beautiful and not far from Cautley Spout, which was a lovely walk to Britains highest waterfall, I took my two sons who loved scrambling along the bottom. And not far from Sedbergh central which has some lovely pubs and shops. Nothing...
- Sian (10/5): Exceptional - A beautiful conversion of a chapel. Was so nice to stay there and has everything that you need for a homely stay.Very clean and lovely comfortable beds. The views from the chapel are beautiful as is the surrounding area.
Sue the owner was so nice, the welcome gifts and the christmas tree were much appreciated!
Will definitely be back for another stay. Nothing!
- Nikkita (10/5): Absolutely Perfect - Absolutely Everything, the location is honestly beautiful, the property was spotless, modern but still very rustic, have no faults at all Nothing!
